James Cameron’s Avatar sequels are practically mythological at this point, 11 years after the release of the original–but they are happening. The cast has been sharing behind the scenes images of their work on Avatar 2, which at the very least proves that a movie is being made, despite the fact we know next to nothing about the actual plot or what a return to Pandora might look like with the finished CGI in place. So far it’s been a lot of water on the Hawaii-based set. Now, Kate Winslet is joining the trend with a new image, shared by producer Jon Landau on Instagram.
Winslet plays, in her own words, a “water person,” which required underwater motion capture filming. She learned how to free dive for the part, and according to an interview she gave in The Hollywood Reporter, her longest breath hold was a whopping 7 minutes and 14 seconds–take that, Tom Cruise.
She was, unfortunately, unable to share much information beyond that. In the image, we can see what looks like wings or perhaps some sort of fin apparatus attached to Winslet’s wetsuit, which likely means we’re going to see some very impressive CG physics involved in the final look for the completed film, but given the nature of Avatar’s aliens, it’s impossible to even speculate how that final look might actually turn out. She may not even be humanoid in the movie, for all we know. That’s Pandora for you, we guess.
Avatar 2 won’t be hitting theaters until 2022, but is still actively in production withCOVID-19 precautions in place.
Insomniac developers revealed a partial list of Spider-Man: Miles Morales Trophies on Twitter. The incomplete list contains 29 Trophies and gives hints about the game’s narrative and objectives. We live in an era of constant reboots, rehashes, and reimagingings, and the Battletoads series is no exception. Now, two months after the release of an unlikely new entry, Dlala Studio’s Battletoads reboot has hit more than one million players between Xbox One and PC, likely thanks to its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass.
In a blog post, publisher Rare also revealed some other key metrics for the game, including the fact that Rash is the most-selected Battletoad. Players have collectively died more than 80 million times on their adventures–that’s a lot of dead amphibians. The post also notes that the fastest speedrun for the full game clocks in at around one hour 40 minutes. Additionally, if you beat Act 1 of Battletoads, you will unlock a free set of cosmetics for Sea of Thieves, Rare’s multiplayer pirate adventure.
In GameSpot’s Battletoads review, critic Mike Epstein called the game a mostly-successful nostalgia trip, though he faulted the game’s shoot-’em-up levels for their lack of depth.
“Despite that, I walked away wishing there was a lot more Battletoads,” he wrote. “Most of the game’s foundation is solid. The beat-’em-up combat, the art, and a lot of secondary gameplay is surprising and fun. Though its blend of gameplay variations feels unbalanced at times, and it isn’t always the laugh-riot it tries to be, Battletoads is an entertaining little romp.”

With Halloween rapidly approaching, a new limited-time event is now live in Minecraft Dungeons on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Spooky Fall Event runs until November 3 with new rewards and difficult challenges for Minecraft Dungeons players.
Those interested in participating in the event can take on Seasonal Trials, a series of challenges that reward players with Halloween-themed items upon completion. In addition to Seasonal Trials, Minecraft Dungeons will also get a Night Mode challenge during the Spooky Fall Event that thrusts players into “the harshest conditions yet” in the dungeon-crawler.
Elsewhere, Apocalypse Plus is also available in Minecraft Dungeons for free. The mode, which will remain available even after the Spooky Fall Event concludes on November 3, adds 20 new difficulty levels after Apocalypse VII, as well as new challenges for players to take on.
Earlier this month, developer Mojang announced a series of new additions coming to Minecraft Dungeons alongside the Apocalypse Plus mode. This includes new paid DLC and cross-play.
Minecraft Dungeons is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One via Game Pass. The dungeon-crawler will also launch on Xbox Series S / Series X when the next-gen consoles drop on November 10. We scored the game a 7/10 in our Minecraft Dungeons review, with editor Steve Watts saying, “It scratches the dungeon-crawler itch with a sense of goofy charm and expands what Minecraft can be.”

It’s not a sequel. It’s not not a sequel, so what is James Gunn’s Suicide Squad movie? Gunn gave us a hint of what we can expect from his movie when it drops late next year in a new interview with Empire, and heaped some praise on David Ayer, who put the original Squad together. Warning: your favorite character may not make it to the end of the movie.
“It’s its own thing,” Gunn said of his movie. “It does not contradict the first movie. I don’t think. In some small ways… I don’t know.”
While Suicide Squad’s status as a sequel or not-a-sequel doesn’t seem to have weighed heavily on Gunn’s mind while making his movie, he was thinking about the groundwork laid by director David Ayer.
“Listen, David Ayer’s gotten trouble for the [first] movie,” Gunn told Empire. “I know it didn’t come out how David wanted it to come out. But he did one really, really great thing, and that is he picked fantastic actors to work with, and he dealt with these actors in building their characters in a really deep and fearless way. It’s something David definitely deserves to be lauded for, and it’s definitely added to this movie.”
Ayer laid good groundwork for Gunn, and DC gave him the green light to do as he wished with the Squad. Gunn spoke again about something he recently addressed on Twitter, too: how much danger the Squad members are in.
“They don’t just get in fights and say they’re going to kill each other, they actually do get into fights and kill each other. You don’t really know who’s going to live and who’s going to die. I was given full freedom to kill anyone–and I mean anyone–by DC.”
While it seems unlikely that Gunn would kill off someone like Harley Quinn, who is currently one of DC’s biggest properties thanks in part to actress Margot Robbie, that seems to be what Gunn was signaling. And if she’s on the chopping block, you know Polka-Dot Man is, too. The Suicide Squad is currently set to release on August 6, 2021.

Revealed by HBO Max, Jason Todd will get a full Red Hood makeover for the upcoming season. The character is played by Curran Walters, and we will finally see his transformation from Boy Wonder Robin to the ultra-violent, gun-toting Red Hood. Check out the concept art for the character’s Season 3 look below.
Titans will be arriving on HBO Max on November 1, as both seasons will find their new home there, migrating from DC Universe. The superhero show is geared more towards an adult audience, as there is plenty of violence, and we all remember the infamous “F*** Batman” trailer from Season 1.
During DC FanDome, it was revealed that the Titans will be finding a new home for Season 3 in the city of Gotham. We also learned Barbara Gordon and Dr. Jonathan Crane will be on the next season–known as Batgirl and Scarecrow respectively.
There is no release date yet for Season 3 of Titans, as the show is still in pre-production. However, two other DC Universe originals–which are now HBO Max originals–are getting new seasons. Both Doom Patrol and the animated series Harley Quinn have been greenlit for new seasons.
Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s new Crown Tundra area is swarming with Legendary Pokemon, including Galarian forms of the three Legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. You’ll need to catch the birds as part of your expedition, but they won’t make it easy; when you first encounter them at Dyna Tree Hill in the southernmost portion of the Crown Tundra, they’ll all flee to a different part of Galar, so you’ll need to return to previous areas and chase them down individually.
Each of the Legendary birds can be found roaming about one of Sword and Shield’s three open-world areas: Zapdos flees to the original Wild Area, Moltres lurks around the Isle of Armor, and Articuno roams about the Crown Tundra. If you need help tracking the Legendaries down, here’s where you can find Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
How To Find Galarian Articuno
Galarian Articuno
Although Articuno is the only Legendary bird to remain in the Crown Tundra, it’s arguably the trickiest of the three to catch. We found it lurking on a cliff in Snowslide Slope, just above the ruins that house Regice. When you approach the Pokemon, however, it creates two illusory clones of itself to throw you off. The real Articuno will flap its wing before it starts spinning around in a circle with its clones, so pay close attention and approach the real Legendary bird when they slow down.
If you choose the correct Articuno, the clones will disappear and the Legendary will attack, initiating a battle; choose wrong, however, and the Pokemon will fly off to a different part of the Crown Tundra. We’ve also seen it in the Old Cemetery, but to avoid having to track it down again, save your game when you first spot the Legendary and simply restart if it flees.
How To Find Galarian Zapdos
Galarian Zapdos
Galarian Zapdos is the easiest of the three Legendary birds to catch in our experience. We’ve found it walking around just outside of Motostoke, so fast travel to the entrance of the city and you should spot it quickly. Zapdos will take off when it sees you, so you’ll need to pursue it on your bike. Although it runs swiftly, Zapdos will tire out and slow down every few seconds, so be persistent and don’t lose sight of it and you’ll eventually catch up to the Pokemon.
How To Find Galarian Moltres
Galarian Moltres
Galarian Moltres is likewise easy to find but a bit tricky to actually catch. Fast travel to the Isle of Armor’s Master Dojo and you should spot it immediately upon arriving. It’ll fly by rather quickly, however, so pursue it on your bike and try to cut off its flight path if you can, because it’ll otherwise be difficult to keep up with.
If Moltres does elude you, you can always wait outside the Master Dojo for it; the Legendary will fly past the building again in a few minutes when it completes its lap around the island, so you’ll get another chance to catch it before long.
Other Tips
Although the Legendary birds will respawn if you inadvertently knock them out before catching them, it’s a good idea to save when you first spot them; that way, you can simply restart the game if you knock the Pokemon out, saving you the trouble of having to chase them down again.
Keep in mind that these Galarian forms have different typings than the original Legendary birds. Galarian Articuno is Psychic/Flying, Galarian Zapdos is Fighting/Flying, and Galarian Moltres is Dark/Flying, so prepare your teams accordingly before you attempt to battle each Pokemon. Like other Legendaries, the Galarian birds also have really low catch rates, so make sure you’re sufficiently stocked up on Ultra Balls. You’ll also improve your chances of capturing them if you’re able to paralyze them or put them to sleep.
You’ll be tasked with investigating a few other Legendary Pokemon in the Crown Tundra, including the expansion’s mascot Calyrex, which you’ll need to reunite with its loyal steed. The DLC also introduces two new Legendary giants, Regieleki and Regidrago. You can read more about the expansion’s new features and Pokemon in our roundup of everything we know about The Crown Tundra.
Between October 26 and November 9, World of Tanks is getting a Halloween event from Silent Hill‘s creative minds. Masahiro Ito, the art director of the Silent Hill franchise, and composer Akira Yamaoka collaborated with Wargaming to create a new World of Tanks PVE co-op event.
Utilizing “unique co-op mechanics,” players will fight against mysterious tanks while exploring a town called Mirny-13. In the event’s custom map, players in teams of five will ride modified Tier IX tanks. Their task is to discover why peculiar supernatural events, likely related to a “scientific experiment gone wrong,” are occurring.
XP and credits earned in the Mirny-13 event will carry over to the main game. Players can also unlock and obtain 3D skins designed by Ito, as well as special crew members, 3D styles, and camos.
“Working on this year’s Halloween event for World of Tanks was a very interesting and rewarding experience,” says Ito. “The combination of the passionate artists at Wargaming and our shared vision for a unique and frightening event made this all possible. My previous works are known for their unsettling atmospheres, chilling narratives and nightmarish beasts, so hopefully World of Tanks players are ready to experience all of these this Halloween!”
World of Tanks was released in 2010 and has been going on strong for 10 years. The game is a free-to-play MMO devoted to tank battles. You can play it on PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, and Mac.
NASA revealed a new discovery about the Moon that confirms water has been found on the sunlit surface. The discovery was found from the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA).
As released in a live conference Monday morning, NASA revealed the news saying the discovery brings the idea forth that water may be distributed across various areas of the surface of the Moon, rather than solely in the shadowed, cold areas.
“We had indications that H2O – the familiar water we know – might be present on the sunlit side of the Moon,” Paul Hertz, director of the Astrophysics Division in the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington said. “Now we know it is there. This discovery challenges our understanding of the lunar surface and raises intriguing questions about resources relevant for deep space exploration.”
NASA will send the first woman to the Moon in 2024, along with the next man, through their Artemis program. They are expecting to send humans to Mars in the 2030s, and they feel the further exploration that is done on the Moon will assist with more understanding of the solar system overall.

According to Raven Software co-founder Brian Raffel, the studio is extremely excited to be leading development of its own Call of Duty campaign after doing essential support work for the franchise for so many years.
IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey sat down with Raffel to discuss Raven Software’s storied history in the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered (the full episode drops tomorrow), along with discussions on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Hexen, Heretic, Soldier of Fortune, and more.
When asked what it was like leading their own project after spending years as a support studio for the Call of Duty juggernaut franchise, Raffel said, “It’s been really great. We have worked for quite a few years on the Call of Duty franchise. We’ve loved the franchise… so when we got this opportunity, we were super pumped about it.”
“We’ve done a lot of work on different campaigns over the years, but this one is… directed by [Raven’s Creative Director] Dan [Vondrak] and our team… It’s an exciting time in the timeline, and one that we felt was ripe for opportunities for some of the things we wanted to do.”
Raffel then pointed out that COD: Black Ops Cold War is the direct sequel to the first game Raven ever teamed with Treyarch to work on, which is a notable landmark for the studio, in and of itself. When asked about the most notable thing about the Black Ops franchise, Raffel said “it’s very clever to us… the ‘dark stories that people didn’t hear…’ That’s always the most interesting for all of us… ‘What’s going on behind the scenes?’ That’s always been an intriguing part for us.”
While Raven is responsible for creating some truly excellent games since its inception, such as all-time great Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Raven’s last original title was Singularity, which was critically well-received, but didn’t sell well for several reasons. When asked if fans could expect more Raven-led projects in the future, Raffel said, “We certainly hope so. I believe this will be successful… I feel like… I can’t talk about future work, but… there are always opportunities for us, so keep an eye out.”
For more interviews with the best, brightest, most fascinating minds in the games industry, check out be sure to check out every episode of IGN Unfiltered, which includes talks with The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley, Master Chief co-creator Marcus Lehto, 343’s Bonnie Ross, Valve’s Robin Walker & Chris Remo, Respawn’s Stig Asmussen, and so many more.
