Amazon’s Jack Ryan Season 2 Review

This is a mostly spoiler-free review of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 2. All 8 episodes are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.

Back in 2018, John Krasinski successfully stepped into the shoes of one of Tom Clancy’s most beloved characters, imbuing the titular government analyst with just the right mix of boyish charm and deadly proficiency. Pairing Krasinski with Wendell Pierce’s James Greer was a brilliant move by creators Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Graham Roland (Fringe), as their memorable bromance was one of the highlights of the first season. Jump to 2019, and Jack Ryan is back on Amazon Video with a by-the-numbers 8-episode second season that appears to forget what made its first outing so great.

Pokemon Go: Regirock, Registeel, And Regice Back In Raids For This Weekend Only

Pokemon Go‘s Halloween event has ended, which means Darkrai is no longer available in Raids. Before Cobalion arrives next week, however, the Legendary Regi trio have returned to the game, but they’ll only be around for a limited time.

Until 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on November 4, Regirock, Registeel, and Regice will appear in five-star Raid Battles around the world. Not only does this give you a new opportunity to add the Legendary Pokemon to your collection if you’ve previously missed them, you’ll also have your first chance to catch their Shiny forms.

In addition to the Regi trio’s return, you’ll be able to find Pokemon that have a type advantage over the Legendaries–such as Geodude, Magnemite, Swinub, Aron, and Spheal–more frequently in the wild, while Aerodactyl, Shuckle, Sneasel, Skarmory, Snorunt, and Beldum will hatch more often from eggs. Incubators will also be twice as effective throughout the weekend, allowing you to hatch eggs in half the time they normally require.

Later this month, the Legendary Regigigas will make its debut in EX Raids. If you can’t wait until then to catch it, Niantic is hosting a Special Research story event on November 2 called “A Colossal Discovery,” which will let you encounter the new Legendary early. However, until other Special Research questlines in the game, you need to purchase a virtual ticket to participate in the event.

Once the Regi trio leave the game again on November 4, they’ll be replaced by the aforementioned Cobalion, the first Gen 5 Pokemon to appear in Go. It will be available in five-star Raids until November 26. Meanwhile, Pokemon Go’s November Community Day is set for November 16. The featured Pokemon this month will be Chimchar, the Fire-type starter from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.

Overwatch 2 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Overwatch 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch. The sequel to Blizzard’s team-focused, hero-based first-person shooter was previously announced for Xbox One, PS4, and PC (specifically Battle.net) during the BlizzCon 2019 opening presentation. No release date has been announced.

In Overwatch 2, you’ll have access to both PvP and PvE content. Overwatch veterans will recognize what you’re able to do in PvP, though there is a new mode, Push, which sees teams try to get a robot to move into their opponent’s side of the map. Overwatch lead designer Jeff Kaplan described Push as a “core competitive game mode, so the mode will appear alongside the others in Quick Play and Competitive, and will also be played in the Overwatch League.

To ensure no one gets left behind, Overwatch players will be able to play in competitive PvP with Overwatch 2 players. “Current Overwatch players will battle side-by-side with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer; they’ll also be able to play Overwatch 2 heroes and maps,” he said. The official Overwatch 2 website says “Your accomplishments and loot collections will be carried forward to Overwatch 2. That means you’ll keep your skins, player icons, sprays, emotes, and more.”

The major change between Overwatch and Overwatch 2 is in the PvE. Overwatch 2 will have PvE Story and Hero modes. In Story mode, you play with friends on a predetermined team of heroes in scripted missions that will continue the narrative of Overwatch. Meanwhile, Hero mode puts your team into objective-based missions–all of which are designed to be repeated with friends to level up your characters and unlock new abilities.

Overwatch Won’t Have A New Archive Event Because Of Overwatch 2

Blizzard clarified that Overwatch will not receive a new Archives event this year during a panel at BlizzCon 2019.

Game director Jeff Kaplan said Blizzard isn’t adding a new event to the story-driven co-op Archives missions due to the team focusing on the newly-announced Overwatch 2. However, Kaplan confirmed that the team has no plans to abandon the existing game, saying there are still some “cool updates” coming and “new stuff” they want to add.

“We are still going to run the Archives event,” Kaplan said. “They will be new skins. There’s going to be new cosmetic content. There are also other awesome features coming to the live game that we think you should be excited about.”

Kaplan detailed an upcoming selection feature that will let you choose how to spend your time while queuing. You can go to the training room or participate in a new deathmatch mode specifically designed for waiting, or you can fire up Custom Game and/or Workshop and play “whatever the hell you want” in the future. Kaplan didn’t specify when this feature will get added to Overwatch.

Overwatch 2 was unveiled during BlizzCon 2019. Though there’s no official release date or window announced, Kaplan said the sequel will appear on “every single platform we support today.” The game will launch on Nintendo Switch, PC (via BattleNet), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 Gets Release Date In Short Video

Because Sony’s animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was such a smashing success, we all knew a sequel was coming. The movie won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2019, and while it only made $375 million worldwide, it’s beloved by everyone that saw it.

Well, now we know we’ll get to see Miles Morales back in the Spider-Man suit and we know when it will arrive in theaters: April 8, 2022. The Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Twitter account released a 10-second long video announcing when the sequel arrives, which you can see below.

The clip doesn’t give much away, but it is a reminder of how cool and unique the animation style was for the movie. Miles Morales’ logo appears in numerous art styles with “2022” in the center of the spider-symbol.

2018’s Into the Spider-Verse ended with Miles sending all the other Spider-people back to their home dimensions, and Gwen tries to figure out a way to keep in contact, from her homeworld. Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’Hara) is revealed and travels to the 1967 Spider-Man animated series world where he at the Spider-Man of that world point at each other, paying homage to that infamous meme.

No news yet on who is coming back for the sequel or even if the film will follow Miles Morales–it better though. Phil Lord, who wrote the first movie, did tweet the video out as well, so there is a good chance he’s involved with the sequel.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse two swings into theaters on April 8, 2022.

Ant-Man Director Returning For Third Movie

Significant changes are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. Several characters we know well are getting TV shows on the Disney+ streaming service, while the theatrical side of Marvel Studios will see the likes of The Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, along with sequels to several films–including Thor: Love and Thunder and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Now, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we have an idea of another movie in the works. According to THR, Peyton Reed is returning to direct Ant-Man 3. He previously helmed the first two installments in the franchise THR also notes that Paul Rudd is expected to return as Scott Lang/Ant-Man for the film.

The report doesn’t mention Evangeline Lily’s potential role in the film, but it’s hard to imagine another Ant-Man adventure without the Wasp there. Likewise, the end of 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp left the door wide open for the return of characters played by Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, and the rest of the gang from the first two films.

There’s no confirmation of when you should expect Ant-Man 3 to hit theaters, though THR cites sources that claim 2022 is a possible release window–with production on the film expected in 2020 or 2021. The Thor and Doctor Strange sequels are expected to film first.

The first film in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Black Widow, a prequel starring Scarlett Johansson that will release on May 1, 2020.

Diablo 4 Mounts Revealed At BlizzCon 2019

During BlizzCon 2019, Blizzard pulled back the curtain on Diablo 4 and detailed a bunch of new features about the action-RPG, such as the newly-implemented mounts.

Mounts are new to Diablo’s universe, fitting in-line with Blizzard’s description of a larger world for Diablo 4. Mounts can be used to travel faster between waypoints and in conjunction with class-specific dismount abilities. Further, you can customize your mount’s appearance, changing everything from saddles to armor to horseshoes. Altering your mount’s appearance also improves its abilities, like equipping armor that decreases the damage taken on a mount and more.

For them to feel grounded in Diablo 4’s world, Blizzard intends to include various kinds of mounts–from demon horses to faceless mounts and everything in between. And to give the mounts some flare, each class has specific dismount abilities tailored to their playstyle. The Sorceress, for example, sends out an ice storm that freezes everything in a straight line in front of her; while the Barbarian causes a ground slam AOE attack. Dismount abilities can be used to combo with other players.

Though revealed earlier today, Blizzard didn’t specify a release date or window for Diablo 4. The company did confirm that the latest installment to the beloved action-RPG franchise is now in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Alongside the announcement, Blizzard shared official Diablo 4 cinematic and gameplay trailers, showing off the new world and returning classes.
