The Mandalorian Trailer Breakdown: 21 Easter Eggs and Secrets

A new trailer for the first-ever live-action Star Wars show The Mandalorian is here and Pedro Pascal’s character finally speaks!

But there’s plenty more to dig into, so here’s our trailer breakdown.

The show is set five years after the fall of the Empire, which should mean things are better? But Werner Herzog’s mystery character asks, “Is the world more peaceful since the revolution?” And if these Stormtrooper helmets are anything to go by… nope!

On a less dour note, here we get a wide shot of the Mandalorian riding on the back of a Blurrg, which are like two-legged Dewbacks. That handsome young Ugnaught accompanying him is called Kuiil, Mando’s buddy. We got a good glimpse of him riding a Blurrg in the first Mandalorian trailer. Ugnaughts can be found all over the galaxy, but if we rewind to Empire Strikes Back, they ran the carbonite operation on Bespin when Han Solo was encased in carbonite. We think Kuiil the Ugnaut could be helping The Mandalorian with all of his carbonite needs. More on that in a second…

The Legends of Runeterra Team on How the Game Has Evolved, the Path Ahead and More

Riot Games made quite a splash during its ten year anniversary celebration, announcing – among many other things – Legends of Runeterra, a CCG based on the League of Legends universe. As anyone who was able to go hands-on during its initial five day “Preview Patch” would likely attest, the game is impressive: clever gameplay mechanics, iconic champions, slick presentation, and some of the best art you’re going to find in the world of video games.

Now that Legends of Runeterra is offline again and the community is looking forward to the next Preview Patch in mid-November, it’s a good time to take a look at where the game has come from – it’s been in development for several years, after all – not to mention how it got to where it is now, and what’s coming up. To do that, I’ve pulled together an extensive set of quotes from the interviews I did with the development team ahead of the announcement.

Arrow Is Trapped in its Mediocre Past

Warning: this review contains full spoilers for Arrow: Season 8, Episode 3! If you need a refresher on where we left off, here’s our review for Season 8, Episode 2.

This week’s installment of Arrow further bears out an uncomfortable truth. The episodes in this final season are only going to be as good as the parts of Arrow’s checkered past they homage. And with Episode 3 remaining locked in Season 3 territory, this was always going to be a very uphill battle for Ollie and Thea.

The fundamental flaw with “Leap of Faith” is that it never really feels all that necessary to the bigger picture that is Crisis. Sure, it ties up plenty of random loose ends and serves as the swan song for characters like Willa Holland’s Thea and Lexa Doig’s Talia, but for the most part, it all feels more like obligatory housekeeping than dramatically rich material. Thea already got a perfectly decent sendoff last season. Sure, the show purposely left the Thanatos Guild subplot hanging to be picked up down the road, but it’s not a thread that was exactly crying out to be addressed. Certainly not like, say, the unresolved fates of Slade Wilson or Brock Turner.

Arrow Cliffhanger Throws Massive Wrench In Crisis Crossover

Just when you thought you were starting to grasp how the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover might play out, Arrow is here to take a quick turn, unraveling almost any theory you could possibly have. As the CW series continues its final season, the episodes are designed mainly to continue setting the stage for the massive Crisis event that kicks off in December.

However, after the latest episode–titled “Leap of Faith”–everything had changed. Warning: The following contains spoilers for Arrow Season 8, Episode 4, “Leap of Faith.” If you don’t want to know what happened, stop reading now.

In the final moments of the episode, Mia (Katherine McNamara), William (Ben Lewis), and Connor (Joseph David-Jones) were transported from their future to present day, right in the middle of the Arrow cave. It’s there that they lay their eyes on Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and the rest of the team. “Dad?” Mia asks through tears, realizing she’s meeting her father for the first time.

This is just the latest twist in the Monitor’s (LaMonica Garrett) plans for Oliver and the multiverse as a whole, with Crisis on Infinite Earths getting closer. After sending Oliver on several missions, he’s now brought the Green Arrow his own children to help in the upcoming fight.

We already knew the crossover would be loaded with familiar faces, including multiple Superman, along with the stars of The CW’s other superhero shows–from Legends of Tomorrow to Black Lightning. Adding the future Team Arrow to the mix, though, is a wrinkle Oliver is likely going to have some trouble with. After all, how focused will he be on the task at hand if he’s also watching over his son and daughter on the battlefield?

Of course, it also makes you wonder what will happen after Crisis on Infinite Earths. We already know a spin-off of Arrow is being developed with Mia at the center, joined by Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy Rodgers). Is it possible that series could be set in present-day, which would mean Mia is sticking around long-term? That’s a question that will hopefully be answered before the Arrow series finale.

Arrow airs Tuesdays on The CW.

EA Expects New Star Wars Game Before April 2022

EA is expecting to release a new Star Wars game before April 2022, while Dragon Age fans may have to wait until after March 2022 for the next entry in the franchise.

Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad reported the news on Twitter that was revealed during EA’s fiscal results for Q2 2020 call. He also noted that the news was “given somewhat off hand,” so obviously nothing is yet set in stone.

Xbox Insider Members In The US And UK Can Now Try Xbox Console Streaming

Xbox Insider members who are part of the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings in either the US or UK are now able to test out Xbox Console Streaming, which allows users to play Xbox One games on devices other than the television they have the console hooked up to.

Right now the program is limited to Android mobiles or tablets, Microsoft has announced, which must be running on Android 6.0 or higher and feature Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities. A Bluetooth enabled wireless Xbox One controller is also required. If you meet all of these requirements you’ll be able to stream your Xbox games collection, including Xbox Games Pass titles, to a mobile device.

Microsoft recommends the use of a controller mount too for maximum comfort. This will allow you to take your Xbox games experiences on the go, as long as you have a strong enough Internet connection or data allowance.

Earlier this month Microsoft began the promised public trials for xCloud, allowing Insiders to stream games through their console. The next Xbox, codenamed Scarlett, is poised to support game streaming as well, although Xbox head Phil Spencer does not believe that streaming will fully replace traditional console experiences anytime soon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Review

Giving the latest Call of Duty effectively the same name as one of the most revered multiplayer shooters of all time is a bold move. Right out of the gate, it creates sky-high expectations that are challenging to actually fulfill. And while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare does look excellent and has some good new and improved features, like the enhanced weapon customization, the disappointing selection of maps encourages bad behavior and it’s missing some things I’d expected to see in a 2019 Call of Duty. I’m having fun with Modern Warfare multiplayer, but it doesn’t quite live up to its recent predecessors.

HBO Max Won’t Prevent Password Sharing… For Now

As WarnerMedia reveals new details regarding the pricing/release date of HBO Max and the growing lineup of original content, the company is also revealing more about how it plans to tackle one of the more difficult problems facing streaming services – what to do about all the subscribers who share their passwords with friends and family?

The good news is that WarnerMedia seems to have no immediate plan of cracking down on password sharing, much less taking legal action against subscribers. The bad news is that the company is taking this practice into account and may start pricing the HBO Max service accordingly. Long story short – expect to start paying more if your password is being shared among several friends and family members.

The Outer Worlds: Watch A Speedrunner Finish The Game In Under 25 Minutes

The Outer Worlds, Obsidian’s new expansive space-faring RPG, has been out less than a week, but it’s already attracting speedruns. While most players will take over a dozen hours to finish the game for the first time, one enterprising speedrunner has gotten their completion time down to well under half an hour.

It’s Jabo managed a run that clocked in at 30:54 earlier this week, before refining his run down to a 24:21 completion time today. In the video below, It’s Jabo speeds through the game as fast as possible, skipping whole chunks of the game and intentionally getting a terrible ending in his quest to complete The Outer Worlds as fast as possible.

The run involves setting his character’s skill levels very deliberately–it’s important to play as a character with zero intelligence to trigger the ending he gets.

“All in all, a pretty good run, sub 25 has been crushed, now on to sub 24/23 :),” the description under the video reads.

In GameSpot’s review of The Outer Worlds, Edmond Tran praised the game for its depth and quality. “It’s not a short game, but it’s one packed with such a steady stream of wonderful characters to meet, interesting places to explore, and meaningful, multi-layered quests to solve, that it didn’t feel like there was any room to get tired of it.”

If you haven’t jumped in yet, expect The Outer Worlds to last you longer than half an hour. Here are our tips for getting started, and a guide to the different difficulty levels.

The Flash Is Finally Back in Fighting Shape

Warning: this review contains full spoilers for The Flash: Season 6, Episode 4! If you need a refresher on where we left off, here’s our review for Season 6, Episode 3.

It’s honestly impressive how quickly The Flash has turned itself around in Season 6. It’s not as if the series had anywhere to go but up after the past two seasons, but this sudden and dramatic return to form is pretty much the best case scenario. “There Will Be Blood” is a great reminder of how much character drama and family dynamics are the beating heart of the series, not superhero spectacle.
