Electronic Arts seem to be enjoying the financial benefits of the live service model. In a press release, EA confirmed that live service games are performing “above” expectations.
EA exec Blake Jorgensen gave the announcement, stating that a few key live service titles spearheaded financial performance for the company. “The strong results this quarter illustrate the power of our live services and our core franchises,” Jorgensen said. “Strength in Ultimate Team, The Sims 4, and FIFA Online drove live services performance above our expectations.”
With live services doing so well for EA, Jorgensen confirmed plans to “double down” on the model going forward. “Looking ahead, we are doubling down on live services combined with our core franchises,” Jorgensen said. “We’re investing in games that people play for longer and engage with much more deeply. This focus will continue to drive growth and profitability for the company through the remainder of this year and beyond.”
One of EA’s upcoming, hotly-anticipated titles isn’t of the live service type. Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is a third-person action-adventure game launching on November 15 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One
The newest trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series The Mandalorian has arrived, and there is a lot going on in the new video. The new Star Wars TV show will debut on Disney’s new streaming service on day one, November 12.
The show will take place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, five years to be precise, and during that transitional time, after Empire but before the First Order, it’s a bit of a wild west out there in a galaxy far, far away. Because of this, we’re going to be introduced to some new elements from Star Wars we haven’t seen before and things we haven’t seen in quite some time as well.
So we’re digging through the trailer of The Mandalorian to see what we can glean from the video, paying attention to all the finer details. So here’s what we learned about the latest Star Wars TV show.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 releases on Nintendo Switch this Thursday, and for those looking to get their hands on Nintendo’s latest game, the best deal may be at Walmart. As with other recent releases, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be on sale for $49.94 at Walmart stores right at launch, according to deals site Cheap Ass Gamer. Unfortunately, these discounts don’t usually extend to Walmart.com, so to save $10 on Luigi’s Mansion 3 this Halloween, you’ll need to drive to your local Walmart store.
This is the latest in a continuing pattern of release-day deals at Walmart, with major games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses getting the same in-store treatment. While other stores like Amazon or Best Buy will frequently price match any discounts posted online, the in-store release-day deals remain a Walmart-specific tactic that’s shown no sign of stopping.
Nintendo’s spooky adventure earned an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 review. Critic Kevin Knezevic took issue with some aiming issues and cumbersome puzzles, but he praised Luigi’s satisfying new abilities and the collectible-filled hotel you never want to stop exploring.
“The strength of the Luigi’s Mansion series has always stemmed from the satisfaction of exploring its carefully constructed settings, and in that regard Luigi’s Mansion 3 certainly succeeds,” he wrote. “The game may not radically diverge from the series’ formula, but it offers up another meticulously crafted set of challenges to overcome while smoothing out some of the issues that held Dark Moon back, and the sense of accomplishment you feel when you clear a particularly head-scratching obstacle is just as potent now as the first time Luigi unwillingly strapped a vacuum to his back and stepped into a haunted mansion.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition – $15 ($40)
One of the best games of all time is currently discounted to $15, and that includes both of its expansions–Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine. GameSpot scored it a 10/10 in its The Witcher 3 review, so if you haven’t played it yet, now’s as great a time as any.
The entire Dark Souls series is discounted in the Shocktober Sale, including last year’s remastering of the original game. It’s called a modern classic for a reason, so if you’ve ever been curious, now’s a good time to try it out on the cheap.
Dead by Daylight is like being stuck in a horror movie: a group of players try to escape as a monster (controlled by another player) hunts them down and picks them off one by one.
Two months after its release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, developer Deck13 Interactive has unveiled The Surge 2‘s season pass. The season pass, available to purchase for $20 USD, features content drops through January 2020, including additional weapons, a new story expansion, and more.
Arriving first are 13 additional weapons, available in November. December gifts three gear sets for your exo-rig, giving you the option of a completely new look. The season pass culminates with a new story expansion in January. The story content, titled “The Kraken,” takes place in an aircraft-carrier and introducing new enemies and bosses. Deck13 shared a roadmap with glimpses of everything headed to The Surge 2 in the coming months.
In our Surge 2 review, we said, “Story and sidequests aside, however, The Surge 2 is absolutely worth the effort when the combat is taken in isolation. Not only does it pack a punch, but it also channels plenty of depth in its limb targeting and deflection systems, and is ably supported by a genuinely varied collection of weapons and potential character builds.”
As HBO continues to figure out the future of the Game of Thrones franchise, a new and significant development has been revealed. The prequel series, believed to be titled Bloodmoon and set thousands of years before Game of Thrones, will not be going to series according to a new report. HBO had previously ordered a pilot for the show.
The news comes from Deadline, which reports that showrunner Jane Goldman has been reaching out to the cast and crew that worked on the project, informing them it will not be moving forward. When GameSpot reached out to HBO, they could not confirm the report.
While details of the prequel were kept largely secretive, A Song of Ice and Fire author George RR Martin previously revealed some interesting tidbits about what would be showcased. According to Martin, the show would have been set in a time when Westeros was made up of 100 kingdoms. “If you go back further then there are nine kingdoms, and 12 kingdoms, and eventually you get back to where there are a hundred kingdoms–petty kingdoms–and that’s the era we’re talking about here,” he said at the time.
Among the announced cast for the series were Naomi Watts, Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Jamie Bower (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), and Toby Regbo (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
As for what happens with Game of Thrones next, there are no officially announced plans in the works. However, it was reported in September that a second prequel series was being developed, with HBO considering ordering a pilot. This series would be set only 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and would focus on House Targaryen.
Game of Thrones wrapped up its eight-season run back in May. Since then, showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have left HBO for a production deal at Netflix. They then also stepped down from the proposed trilogy of Star Wars movies they were attached to write and direct.
The Fortnitemares 2019 event is now live in Fortnite: Battle Royale, bringing a new Storm King limited-time mode to the game, along with a related set of challenges. Many of these missions are tied to the aforementioned LTM, while a handful are more obviously Halloween-inspired, like destroying haunted household furniture and leaping out of hideouts when unsuspecting players are nearby.
One of the trickier Storm King challenges asks you to search chests at a haunted forest, a ghost town, and a spooky farm. The challenge itself is easy enough to complete, but the hard part is knowing where to go, especially if you’re not very familiar with Fortnite’s new map yet. If you fall in that camp, don’t worry; we show you what to do below.
Where Are The Haunted Forest, Ghost Town, And Spooky Farm Locations?
As the challenge states, you need to search chests at three specific areas. The haunted forest and spooky farm are simple enough to find; the former is Weeping Woods, while the later is Frenzy Farm–both named locations that you can easily spot on the game’s map.
The ghost town, however, is a bit harder to track down. Unlike the other two areas, it isn’t a named location, so you can’t obviously see it just by looking at a map of the island. For this one, you’ll need to go to quadrant G1, in the top portion of the island. The town is northwest of Steamy Stacks, and it’s received a ghostly makeover for this event. You can see where all three areas are located on the map below.
How To Complete The Challenge
Once you know where the locations are, all you need to do is head to all three areas and search one chest in each. Do that and you’ll clear the challenge, netting you 30,000 XP for your troubles. If you need more help, we walk you through how to complete the challenge in the video below.

Ubisoft has revealed in a blog post that it intends to introduce a number of large-scale improvements to Ghost Recon Breakpoint, including a “more radical and immersive version” of the game that will focus on player choice and an authentic military experience.
“We are aware that some of the design choices made have caused polarized reactions and discussions regarding the direction taken by the Ghost Recon franchise,” explains the blog. “Some of you would like our new survival mechanics to have more impact on your experience, while others dislike the tiered loot progression we have added.”
