Black Friday 2019 Store Hours: Start Times For TWalmart, Target, Best Buy, And More

Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 and the hurricane of deals the shopping holidays bring with them are just around the corner. If you’re looking to get your holiday shopping done Thanksgiving weekend, you should probably have a plan. Going to a major retailer on Friday and simply hoping to pick up a Switch Lite, PS4, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, or whatever other deal has caught your eye is a nice dream, but if you don’t know when deals will go live and when stores open, you’re probably going to be disappointed.

Many retailers have started offering deals already in early access sales. Look for the bulk of Black Friday deals to go live on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day; however, some deals won’t go live until Black Friday itself. Quite a few stores will open Thanksgiving evening, shut their doors later that night, and then re-open on Black Friday proper. However, you’ll definitely be waiting until Friday to do in-store shopping if you live in Rhode Island, Maine, or Massachusetts, where opening on Thanksgiving is illegal. Of course, you can always head online if heading to a store isn’t an option.

Please note that some stores haven’t released the exact time their deals will be live, only the date. We’ve included the information available below and will continue to update this story as more retailers announce their store hours and start times.

Amazon

While Amazon has opened a small (but growing) number of brick-and-mortar stores across the US, the bulk of its Black Friday discounts will be available on Amazon.com. Because Amazon is primarily an online store, it’s not waiting until the end of the month to start offering its Black Friday deals. Instead, Amazon launched its Happy HoliDeals sale on November 1 with discounts across gaming, tech, entertainment, and other categories. And in the leadup to Black Friday 2019, deals will be available on Amazon at all hours, including a wide range of smart devices. Basically, Amazon will have deals going live all the time, so check back often.

  • Available Now: Deals will go live every day up until Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and probably the week after Cyber Monday.

Target

On the Wednesday before Black Friday, Target will have some special access deals for RedCard and Circle members. Otherwise, online deals will become available to everyone Thanksgiving morning, with brick-and-mortar stores opening at 5 PM on Thanksgiving Day this year. Select Black Friday deals have also gone live on their website.

  • November 27: RedCard Early Access Sale runs all day, with select deals for Circle members available starting at 6 PM (online only)

Microsoft Store

Microsoft’s Black Friday deals are live now until December 2 (or while supplies last). In addition to Xbox deals, you’ll find some nice discounts on gaming laptops, monitors, headphones, and more during Black Friday.

  • Available Now until December 2: Official Xbox deals available to everyone

Ebay

While Amazon may be a go-to source for many people’s online shopping, Ebay has continued to surprise us with great gaming deals on a regular basis, especially when it comes to discounts on new games or subscription services like PS Plus. It also had some of the best deals around during Prime Day 2019, so be sure to keep your eye on Ebay during Black Friday this year.

Ebay is offering a series of “Black Friday Drops” every Friday leading up the major event. So far, they’ve offered nice discounts on expensive tech like the Apple Watch Series 5 and Bose SoundTouch 10 wireless speaker, and we even saw a great bundle with the Nintendo Switch Lite and Pokemon Sword and Shield. Each Black Friday Drop goes live at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET every Friday now through December 13. The spotlight deal for Black Friday itself, November 29, hasn’t yet been revealed.

Steam

For PC gamers, Steam’s Black Friday sale (or “Autumn Sale”) will be a huge opportunity to snag games on their wishlist at a discount. Unfortunately, Steam doesn’t release information about its sales ahead of time, and that likely won’t change for Black Friday 2019. That said, we have a pretty good idea when Steam’s Black Friday sale will start. According to a leak a few months ago, Steam’s Autumn sale will go live on November 26 and run until December 3. This is a bit later than in previous years, but considering Black Friday is also happening later this year, the November 26 start date is believable. It’s worth noting the leak also accurately predicted the dates for Steam’s Halloween sale last month.

  • November 26-December 3: Steam’s Autumn Sale

Newegg

Online store Newegg is another great source for tech and gaming deals year-round, and the website has been gearing up for Black Friday all month long. Newegg has opted to celebrate “Black November” rather than limiting its deals to Thanksgiving weekend, and you can already find great discounts on gaming laptops, desktops, graphics cards, and more.

  • Available Now: Black Friday pre-sale kicks off
  • November 25-30: Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals available

Costco

If you’re someone who has a Costco membership, there are plenty of Black Friday gaming deals awaiting you this year. However, Costco will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so there’s no beating the Black Friday rush if you plan to shop in stores. If you prefer to shop online, deals are already available, but some of the best deals will go live on Costco.com the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

  • Available now: Early holiday deals available on Costco.com

Costco store hours

  • Thanksgiving Day: Closed
  • Black Friday, Nov. 29: 9 AM – 8:30 PM (may vary by store)

Kohl’s

Kohl’s isn’t usually a store you think of for tech and gaming deals, but the brick-and-mortar retailer is stepping up its game with some solid deals this year, including a nice Nintendo Switch bundle. Plus, the store is offering $15 of Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend from November 25-29, an excellent deal if you shop there regularly. On top of that, select products are eligible for an additional 15% off both in stores and online with promo code THANKS15.

  • Live Now: Online Black Friday deals
  • Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28: Online doorbusters available at midnight CT / 1 AM ET (10 PM PT on Nov. 27) through 1 PM on Black Friday (or while supplies last)
  • November 30-December 9: Customers who earned Kohl’s Cash during Black Friday week can redeem it on anything online and in stores

PS4 Game Deals Black Friday 2019: Resident Evil 2, Uncharted Series, God Of War, And More

The PS4 is still the world’s leading gaming console this generation (and the second best-selling console ever), which means we’ll see plenty of deals on PS4 games this coming Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Lots of retailers have kicked off their deals early, so we’ve rounded up the best current and upcoming deals you can get on PS4 games over the next week or so.

Where to find the best PS4 game deals

Black Friday retailer ads started releasing in early November. Target’s Black Friday ad was the first among major retailers to release this year; Best Buy’s Black Friday ad released soon after, and Walmart’s Black Friday ad closely followed. GameStop was late to the party, but the chain game retailer has a bunch of games on sale that other retailers don’t have. All four sales offer a wide assortment of PS4 game deals. Of course, Sony’s on PlayStation Store has its own share of digital-only deals to choose from.

Rick & Morty Creator’s Trover Saves The Universe Hits Switch And Xbox One Soon

Trover Saves the Universe, the strange, Justin Roiland-created platformer/adventure game that released for PC and PS4 earlier this year, is coming to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One–and you won’t have to wait long at all. It will come to Switch this week on November 28, before an Xbox One release on December 3. Trover Saves the Universe will bring Roiland’s weird sense of humor (the same one that’s behind Rick & Morty, which he co-created with Dan Harmon) to all modern console owners.

The game will come to both consoles without support for the VR modes possible on PC and PS4; Xbox One does not have VR compatibility, and there’s no mention of Labo VR support on the game’s Switch store page. The Switch version is available to pre-order now, but the Xbox store page is not up yet. This release will come with both free DLC packs that have released for the PS4 version of the game: Jopo Mode, which gives you a new playable character, and “important cosmic jobs,” which are playable jobs that can unlock Justin Roiland comedy sketches.

Trover Saves The Universe is a comedy game first and foremost, with the platforming and combat generally being quite simple. It earned a 7/10 in our original review, and critic Justin Clark summed up the game as “a really messed up alien buddy comedy.” If you pick it up, be sure to look out for every Easter egg hidden away in the game.

Apex Legends: This Powerful Shotgun Got Nerfed, But Is Still Extremely Dominant

Apex Legends, which launched earlier this year to critical acclaim, has introduced a minor nerf for one of its most powerful weapons. The Peacekeeper, which got a tweak in the November 5 update, has received two very minor changes. Rechamber time has been increased by a tenth of a second, from 1.1 seconds to 1.2 seconds, while the head shot multiplier has been cut from 1.5 to 1.25.

This could potentially be the difference between life and death in some instances, although fans have been quick to point out that it’s not the change they were expecting. As professional player Rogue notes, it was the pellet size that many players took issue with, not how fast it rechambered or the modifier on head shots. These changes, he and others responding to the original tweet have argued, will not actually fix the issues some players have faced.

This is not the only concern players have with Apex Legends’ balance at the moment–as Dot Esports has noted, a recent Reddit survey found that 77% of players think that Pathfinder’s abilities make the legend overpowered, while a whopping 91% believe that Mirage needs to be buffed. This survey, conducted for the game’s third season, collected 1936 responses–a tiny portion of the player base, but a considerable number nonetheless.

It’s possible that the Peacekeeper will receive further nerfs and changes. In October, EA reported that Apex Legends had been played by over 70 million players–it’s a huge success.

Both of The Escapists titles give you the same task: escape from prison. Doing so requires a combination of planning, crafting, sneaking, and working together with your fellow inmates. Pokemon Sword & Shield Has A New Kind Of Shiny Pokemon

Pokemon Sword & Shield have not been out for long, but already dedicated players are starting to build up a full Pokedex and are hunting for rarer shiny Pokemon. As it turns out, there are actually two versions of each “shiny” Pokemon in these games–the regular shiny Pokemon that sparkle with stars when you encounter them or send them into battle, and a variant that sparkles with squares when you find them.

As Polygon has reported, several players have reported spotting and catching these unique shiny Pokemon. One fan on Twitter has gone viral with footage of themselves encountering a shiny square Wooloo the very first time they enter long grass.

The Pokemon community has been trying to figure out the distinction between the two different kinds of shiny critters, and why some have squares instead of stars. Initially, it seemed like square shiny Pokemon were much rarer, yet it seems as though a lot of people are finding and catching them compared to “traditional” shiny monsters; further digging is starting to suggest that there’s a reason for that.

The simple version seems to be that squares are theoretically rarer, but are much more common if you are using certain methods to purposefully seek out shiny Pokemon rather than just stumbling across them. The community is continuing to dig into this, so there might be more specific details coming out down the track.

Meanwhile, the official Pokemon website has posted some insight into how to increase your odds of catching shiny Pokemon. The more of a single Pokemon you fight, the better your chances of eventually finding a shiny, increasing from the set odds of 1:4096. You can also encounter “Brilliant” Pokemon, which shows an aura of light when you encounter them in the grass, and rewards you with watts after you defeat or capture it.

Battling a Pokemon once allows Brilliant versions to appear, and the odds of finding Brilliant Pokemon increase again after 20, 40, and 100 battles. They increase dramatically for shiny Pokemon as well–after 50 battles your odds double, after 100 they triple, and then at 200, 300, and 500 battles your odds multiply by 4, 5, and 6. Of course, the rarer a Pokemon is, the harder it will be to find a shiny version (although our guide to rare Pokemon should prove useful.)

Pokemon Sword & Shield received a 9/10 in our review. Kallie Plagge wrote that “in collecting, battling, and exploring, Sword and Shield cut out the bloat and focus on what makes these pillars of the Pokemon games so captivating in the first place.”
