How Long Does Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Campaign Last?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now, bringing the series back to a gritty modern-day theater of war. The campaign tells the story of moral compromises and civilian damage. But how long does it take to see it through?

Before release, Infinity Ward promised that the campaign would last about as long as you’d expect from a Call of Duty game, but that it could vary greatly. In our experience, a playthrough of the campaign lasts 4-5 hours. That was the case regardless of difficulty, so play on the mode that you feel most comfortable with.

Reviews have been hitting right alongside the release of the game, and so far the critical consensus seems fairly positive–if not effusive. That’s also the case in GameSpot’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review-in-progress, which gave it a score of 7/10. Kallie Plagge said the campaign raises interesting questions but fails to take them to a deeper level.

“Just when it could really make a point about any other aspect of modern war, it pulls back,” the review states. “Modern Warfare makes old observations and presents them with new flourishes. Those new flourishes do make for a good campaign and solid multiplayer. But it’s when Modern Warfare asks you to think harder that it falls short.”

Pokemon Sword/Shield Creators Talk About The National Dex Backlash

With Pokemon Sword and Shield less than a month away, developer Game Freak has been openly talking about the project in more depth. Several outlets recently interviewed lead producer Junichi Masuda and series director Shigeru Ohmori, and the topic of Sword and Shield’s controversial lack of a National Pokedex inevitably came up.

Not every single Pokemon throughout the series’ long history will be in Sword and Shield, which has caused quite the furore among a vocal section of the Pokemon fan base. “You see these sort of negative comments and it does, as a developer, make you feel a bit down about certain things,” Masuda told Eurogamer when asked about the uproar. “But at the same time, you have to take criticism. For example with Pokemon Let’s Go, early on there were a lot of comments that it was too easy, or it was kind of a bit too ‘kid-focused’ and that sort of thing. That sort of comment is something you see, and you take on board, and really try and base improvements in the next game on the feedback you received from the last one.

“So, with regards to the Pokedex issue in particular that you’ve mentioned, that was something that was a really hard decision internally, there were a lot of discussions about which direction we should take that in, and ultimately we felt that, for the overall game, focusing on creating the richest experience we could within that game, leaving the Pokedex as we did was the best solution overall.”

“For example, when we add new moves and abilities we create a deeper experience for everyone to enjoy. This time around we can also give people a greater attachment to the Pokemon that are in the game, which is something we think is very important. So we definitely–we don’t have regrets about what we’ve done.

“In terms of having Pokemon that you had in previous games,” Masuda continued, “we do have Pokemon Home that’s coming out–and that’s another place where everyone can gather all their Pokemon from previous games and enjoy a different way of playing with them there.”

Masuda expanded on this point, and the introduction of Pokemon Home, in another interview with Polygon. “I mean, from my perspective, it’s always been in the back of my mind that at some point we were going to have to not include all the Pokemon,” he said. “One of the things we’ve tried to do this time around, and we don’t have a lot of details to share, but we’re introducing a cloud service called Pokemon Home and we really want to use that to kind of expand the Pokemon world, provide a place for players to be able to gather all of their Pokemon in one spot, do fun things, and also use it as a launching pad for different adventures and different games.”

Pokemon Sword and Shield is set to launch November 15 for Nintendo Switch.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Will Be Six Episodes; New Timeline Details

New details about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series recently emerged, as Ewan McGregor revealed that the Disney+ show will consist of six hour-long episodes.

McGregor shared the information with Men’s Journal, though he admitted that he wasn’t allowed to tell them anything about the series, he seemingly couldn’t resist letting this slip, as he explained that he had been keeping the series a secret for a lot longer than people realise.

“It’s a f***ing massive relief,” he told the publication. “Because for four years, I’ve been having to lie to people about it.”

Ahead Of Pokemon Sword & Shield, Get A Free Mewtwo For Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee

Pokemon Sword and Shield launch on Nintendo Switch in less than a month, but in the meantime, The Pokemon Company is giving away a few Legendary Pokemon for the series’ most recent entries. In addition to the free Shiny Solgaleo and Shiny Lunala that are available now for Pokemon Sun and Moon, The Pokemon Company has announced it will soon distribute a free Mewtwo in the US for last year’s Pokemon Switch games, Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee.

The Mewtwo distribution kicks off on November 4 and runs until November 14–the day before Pokemon Sword and Shield launch. To claim the Legendary, you’ll first need to download the Pokemon Pass app on your phone and head to a participating Best Buy store, where you’ll be able to scan a special QR code that will give you a download code for the Pokemon.

This free Mewtwo is fairly standard; it isn’t Shiny and doesn’t know any exclusive or rare moves. Still, since only one Mewtwo is available to catch in the Let’s Go games, this is a good chance to add another one to your collection. The Pokemon comes at level 70 and knows the following four moves:

  • Amnesia
  • Psychic
  • Teleport
  • Recover

Once you’ve received a download code for the Mewtwo, you’ll need to input the code via the Mystery Gift feature to download it. You can read more details about the distribution on the official Pokemon website.

As previously mentioned, players can also pick up a free Shiny Legendary Pokemon right now for the series’ Gen 7 3DS games. That distribution runs until November 10. Those in the US can get the Legendaries by going to a participating GameStop store and scanning the special QR code that’s on display using the Pokemon Pass app. You can see all the other free gifts still available for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in our roundup.

Pokemon Sword and Shield launch on Switch on November 15, and a few free Pokemon have already been announced for the games. If you have save data of Let’s Go Pikachu or Eevee on your Switch, you’ll be able to receive a free Pikachu or Eevee that’s capable of Gigantamaxing. Everyone who picks up a copy of Sword or Shield by January 15, 2020 will also be able claim a free Meowth that’s able to Gigantamax.
