Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Update Removes All Night Maps From Rotation Ahead Of Launch

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is just hours away, but a last-minute patch is making a major change to the multiplayer options first. Infinity Ward announced that it’s releasing an update that will remove all night maps from rotation.

The studio didn’t state a reason for the change but did say that it will be adding night maps back in as a separate playlist. The update will also remove the minimap from Hardcore modes.

Feedback to day-one patch notes may shed some light on the reason, though. Several users complained that night maps in the beta just fundamentally played differently than others, due to the reliance on night vision and specialized aiming attachments. Several players suggested doing exactly what Infinity Ward just announced: making it a separate playlist entirely. The day one patch notes, much of it addressing beta feedback, can be found below.

If you’re eagerly anticipating the release of Modern Warfare, you can pre-load now and check out what time it will unlock in your territory. Plus you still have time to run to Walmart and pick up a double XP bonus before you start playing. Read our pre-order guide for everything you need to know to prepare for launch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Day One Patch Notes

  • Lighting:

  • Low Health Visuals:

  • Weapon Balance:

  • Equipment:

    • Map zoom is pulled out a bit to help with player awareness

  • Killstreaks:

Kylo Ren’s History With Knights Of Ren Explored In Marvel Comic

This December, the Skywalker saga comes to a close with Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the stories about these characters. In the upcoming comic Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren, the series will show, in detail, Ben Solo’s transformation into Kylo Ren, departing from Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and joining forces with Supreme Leader Snoke. This includes his first run-in with the Knights of Ren.

Issue #2 of this four-part miniseries comes out in January and features Ben and Luke traveling to an “unknown region” to face the Knights of Ren, according to the solicit for the book.

This is all part of Snoke’s plan to turn Ben to the dark side, pretending to be the young Jedi’s friend and manipulating him. It seems not only will the issue cover the first time Ben met these knights, but it will also show him joining up with the group as well.

The mysterious Knights of Ren was first introduced in The Force Awakens, as a group that served Supreme Leader Snoke. However, the Knights were missing from The Last Jedi, as director Rian Johnson couldn’t find a place for them in the movie. However, in December’s The Rise of Skywalker, the Knights of Ren will be featured, and we’ve already seen the designs for the characters. It’s unknown how deep into the lore of this group the movie will go, and chances are that the Kylo Ren comic will be the best way to fill in the blanks left by the movie.

The Rise of Kylo Ren #2 will be available at your local comic book shop and digitally sometime in January for $4.

Pokemon Sword & Shield Are “Comparable” In Length To Previous Generations

Though Game Freak hasn’t revealed any specific window for how long it will likely take to complete the campaign in Pokemon Sword / Shield, it looks like the upcoming game will have about as much content as previous titles in the franchise. Of course, since different generations have taken wildly different times to complete, that’s still a fairly large ballpark.

“In terms of the volume or the amount of content in the main adventure, [Sword / Shield is] comparable to other Pokemon generations that we’ve played,” Pokemon Sword / Shield director Shigeru Ohmori said, according to Game Informer. “I think there’s a lot of interesting activities that, for example, completing the Pokedex or really going out into the Wild Area and engaging with those mechanics, that’ll add a lot of replay value for players who are looking to get really hardcore into that.”

“I feel like a lot of players these days will typically burn through content and try to go to the ending as fast as they can,” Pokemon Sword / Shield producer Junichi Masuda added. When looking at previous Pokemon games, their campaign’s run the gamut of 26-41 hours of content, with Gen I as the low outlier and Gen IV as the high one. Comparatively, the stories in Gen II, III, V, VI, and VII are all in the 30-35 hour range–so it’s probable that’s where Gen VIII will ultimately end up as well.

One of the biggest new features in Pokemon Sword / Shield is the Wild Area, an open-world expanse where Pokemon roam about in the overworld–just like they do in Let’s Go, Pikachu / Let’s Go, Eevee. This area doesn’t work like the routes seen in previous Pokemon games. In the Wild Area, Pokemon don’t naturally scale to your adventure, so when you’re just starting out, you may run into wild Pokemon that are far too strong for you to take on, forcing you to be sneaky. You can also interact with other players while in the Wild Area, allowing you to easily find other trainers to battle against or trade with.

Pokemon Sword / Shield is scheduled to release for Nintendo Switch on November 15.

Street Fighter Producer Had “Revolutionary” Idea For Series Return

Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono, one of the faces behind the Street Fighter series, has admitted that 2009’s Street Fighter IV could have been an entirely different experience he thought was “revolutionary” at the time.

In a Eurogamer interview during EGX 2019, Ono revealed that Street Fighter IV could have returned as “a turn-based simulation.” Ono thought that bringing the franchise back with turn-based mechanics would have been revolutionary, though he admitted that convincing Capcom was “really, really difficult.”

Per a translator, Ono said Capcom at that time–around the late ’90s and early aughts–was “passed [the point of] making fighting games in general for a while, let alone just Street Fighter.” To get a new entry off the ground, Ono talked to his then-boss Keiji Inafune and former-president-now-chairman Kenzo Tsujimoto, who greenlit him for a new Street Fighter title.

Though SF4 managed to bring the series back into renewed focus, Ono said there were other ideas on the table for the series’s return. “I did have an idea that I thought could be revolutionary to turn the game more into a turn-based simulation, so you would take the moves you want to do and put them together like blocks,” Ono said via a translator. “Then they would run automatically, but obviously we didn’t make that in the end.”

Eurogamer’s Martin Robinson also asked Ono whether he had other ideas for Street Fighter’s return, like a first-person view or a gritty reboot. He did not clarify anything but laughed at the first-person idea. The 3DS version of Super Street Fighter IV included an over-the-shoulder view, and Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers on Nintendo Switch featured a first-person perspective.

As previously reported, Street Fighter 6 was not revealed during EVO 2019, which ran from August 2-4. Ono confirmed that the development team is more concerned with Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Valve leaked SFV: AE’s latest DLC characters, which include Poison, Lucia, and E. Honda, ahead of the EVO 2019 reveal.

All Elite Wrestling Is Working With Rick & Morty, Two Animated Characters, On A Live Show

Ever since AEW’s inception, back in January, the company has been signing some of the biggest and bright talent available in wrestling. Now, joining the ranks of Chris Jericho, Jurassic Express, MFJ, and Riho is… Rick & Morty.

That’s right, Rick & Morty, the animated duo, will somehow be involved with the October 30 episode of AEW Dynamite. The show will air live on TNT, taking place at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. The news was revealed in a tweet from AEW.

To what extent Rick & Morty will be involved is a complete mystery, but AEW’s Cody Rhodes revealed that everyone attending the show will receive Rick & Morty masks. Wrestling and cross-promotion makes strange bedfellows. Who can forget when Robocop teamed up with Sting in WCW or when Chucky showed up to challenge Rick Steiner, while promoting a movie. Or how about WCW’s movie, Ready to Rumble, when David Arquette won the World Heavyweight Championship? Or even every celebrity WWE has brought on to its show?

Rick & Morty is a Warner Bros. property, and AEW has already worked with others under the WarnerMedia–the promotion’s parent company–including DC Comics. And more than likely, we’ll see more teamups like this in the future to promote the AEW name.

This is nothing new, and it should be fun, but the question remains, “how is this going to work?” It’s been a while since we’ve seen the animated duo on the small screen. Season 4 of the series will debut on Adult Swim on November 10, and some of the episode titles have already been revealed.

Before the new season hits Adult Swim, you can check out Rick & Morty on the October 30 episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT.

Left 4 Dead Is Back With A Dying Light Crossover Event

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

It’s been 10 years since Left 4 Dead 2 was released, and no, your eyes are not deceiving you. Ten! Feel old yet? Despite it being a decade since Ellis, Coach, Nick, and Rochelle carved a path through the zombie hordes–and Valve’s aversion to the number three–Dying Light developer Techland is still carrying the Left 4 Dead torch with an upcoming crossover event.

Dying Light is almost five years old itself, but Techland continues to support the first-person parkour-infused zombie slayer, even with Dying Light 2 on the horizon. After a recent Deadeye’s Promise event, the Polish developer hinted at a Left 4 Dead crossover in a tweet, saying “We don’t want you to be left 4 dead waiting for results!” This, of course, got people talking, and the crossover has now been confirmed.

Techland hasn’t shared any more details beyond this tweet so we’re only left with speculation as to what this zombie crossover might entail. It’s probably safe to assume it will include cosmetics like Left 4 Dead 2 character skins and voice packs as opposed to something more substantial like a new game mode or enemies like The Boomer and The Witch appearing in Dying Light.

Nevertheless, it’s cool that Valve is still acknowledging Left 4 Dead’s existence, even if we’re still waiting on another sequel. Who knows, maybe Valve has something else up its sleeve for the game’s 10-year anniversary in November?

Dying Light 2 is due in Spring 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
