Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has taken to Twitter to express his excitement and love for Star Wars following the release of the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker.

In a few short words and with one emoji, Johnson has summed up the emotion and sentiments that millions around the world must be feeling, simply stating “Oh my god I <3 Star Wars"

Johnson directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but he passed the director chair back to Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams for Episode IX and the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga. However, Johnson is hardly done with Star Wars as he will be working on a new trilogy that will move “beyond the legacy characters.”

Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker Trailer Reveals First Look At Lord Of The Rings Actor’s Character

Lost and The Lord of the Rings actor Dominic Monaghan has a role in the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. We still don’t know who specifically he plays, but the new Episode IX trailer has provided a first look at his character.

Monaghan appears to be playing a resistance fighter. He can be seen in the trailer standing behind Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico. This appears to be a tense moment when people are scrambling to prepare for battle.

Monaghan played Charlie Pace in Lost, which was co-created by Rise of Skywalker director JJ Abrams. This is the first time Monaghan and Abrams have worked together since.

Monaghan is also known for his portrayal of Merry in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings series. He’s done work for video games as well, as he played William Joyce in the video game/TV show hybrid Quantum Break from Control and Alan Wake developer Remedy.

Monaghan is not the only newcomer joining the cast in Rise of Skywalker. The Americans actress Keri Russell plays the mysterious Zorii Bliss, who is “very cool and a little bit shady.”

Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker Sells More Tickets Than Avengers Endgame In First Hour On Atom

Advance tickets for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are on sale now, and unsurprisingly, the tickets are selling incredibly well. CNBC and Brandon Katz report that Rise of Skywalker sold more tickets through Atom Tickets in its first hour than Avengers: Endgame did earlier this year. In fact, The Rise of Skywalker shifted 45 percent more tickets, Katz said.

This sets a new first-hour record for Atom. The other highest-sellers in the first hour on Atom are Avengers: Infinity War, The Last Jedi, and Rogue One.

This data may not be perfect, as people are pointing out that the demand was so high for Endgame that it crashed ticketing sites. Whatever the case, it’s clear there is also a huge amount of interest in The Rise of Skywalker.

You can buy advance tickets for The Rise of Skywalker at movie theatres and ticket-sellers around the world. In addition to standard tickets, a number of theatres are offering special events like a marathon of all nine movies and more.

Rise of Skywalker: Palpatine’s Throne Resembles Unused ROTJ Design

The final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker included many cool and curious images in it, not the least of which is a shot of Emperor Palpatine’s throne.

As Phil Szostak — Lucasfilm creative art manager, cineaste & author of The Art of The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Rise of Skywalker — pointed out on Twitter after the trailer dropped, the throne seen in the final trailer resembles concept art for The Return of the Jedi.

Szostak tweeted images comparing the Rise of Skywalker’s throne with 1981 artwork by conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie depicting Palpatine and Darth Vader.

Nintendo Switch Is Getting The 2013 Western Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger, It Seems

Ubisoft’s 2013 western Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is headed to Nintendo Switch, it seems. The Entertainment Software Rating Board has published a rating for a Switch version, which seemingly confirms that the game is headed to Nintendo’s hybrid console.

On top of that, developer Techland has begun to sent out viral marketing for the game to some media outlets. VG247 reports that it received a western-themed postcard showing an old-timey character playing Call of Juarez on the Switch. An official reveal is scheduled for high noon PT on Thursday, October 24, so it won’t be long until all of this is confirmed.

In 2018, Techland bought back bought back the rights to Call of Juarez from Ubisoft. The company hasn’t said anything about bringing the series back to life, but a teaser released in October 2018 suggests the studio has more plans. Gunslinger was the fourth entry in the series, preceded by Call of Juarez, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, and Call of Juarez: The Cartel (which was the only game in the series to take place in modern times).

If Gunslinger does indeed come to Switch, it will be among the first westerns on Nintendo’s platform. Nawia Games released Western 1849 Reloaded, an arcade-style shooter, was released in August 2018 for $8 USD. A comedy adventure role-playing game called West of Loathing was also released for Switch in 2018.

The Rise of Skywalker Sets Record for Most First Hour Sales on Atom Tickets

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker tickets have officially gone on sale, and it has already broken the record of first hour pre-sales on Atom Tickets that was previously held by Avengers: Endgame.

Atom Tickets has reported that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has already “sold 45% more tickets on Atom in the first hour of pre-sales than Avengers: Endgame did earlier this year.”

Behind Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Avengers: Endgame, for first hour ticket sales, sits Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and then Star Wars: Rogue One.

This achievement for Star Wars arrives on the same night as the final trailer for not only The Rise of Skywalker, but also the Skywalker Saga.

New Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker Trailer Gives Us More Emperor Palpatine

In a galaxy very, very close to home, people who were watching American football were treated to the battle between the light and the dark side in the latest trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker.

During halftime of Monday Night Football, the new video debuted, which you can see below. The trailer sees the return of many familiar faces–some of which haven’t been included in the latest Star Wars trilogy until this film, like Lando Calrissian and Sheev Palpatine. There’s also a sense of finality throughout the trailer, with both Luke and Leia saying goodbye to Rey, C-3PO taking one last look at his friends, and the words “the saga will end” popping up at 1:44. It’s been a relatively quiet couple of months for the latest Star Wars outing. The last time fans saw any new footage was back in August at D23. We also learned a bit more about Kerri Russell’s part in the film as Zorri Bliss.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Running Time Revealed

Tickets for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker have officially gone on sale, and with that came the reveal that it will officially become the longest Star Wars film ever at 155 minutes or 2 hours and 35 minutes.

Revealed via AMC Theaters, The Rise of Skywalker clocks in just three minutes longer than The Last Jedi. In third place is Attack of the Clones at 142 minutes. It’s not quite as long as Avengers: Endgame, however, as that film has a run time of 181 minutes, or 3 hours and 1 minute.
