Hearthstone Pro Calls For Hong Kong Liberation During Blizzard Live Interview

Footage of an official Blizzard interview with a Hong Kong-based professional Hearthstone player has been taken offline after the player expressed support for the protests in Hong Kong.

InvenGlobal first reported that Ng Wai “blitzchung” Chung expressed his support of the protests while being interviewed by the official Taiwanese Hearthstone organization following his win against South Korean player Jang “DawN” Hyun Jae on October 6.

During the interview, Chung wore a face mask on camera. It was a reference to the government-issued ban on wearing face masks while protesting, something Hong Kong protestors have been doing to protect their identities.

Control Confronts Us With A Very Specific Type of Horror: A Lack of Control

Remedy’s Control is a game about recognizing our inability to have a firm grip on an indifferent universe, yet reaching out to grab it anyway. It is a game about items closely connected with our world but which are still off: Something gnaws at the edges of what we know, scratches at the corners of what we can know, and whispers of a layer of brutality and cold indifference we refuse to acknowledge blankets all existence.

It is a game about existential dread, and this constant awareness of that which we can never grasp is central to the weird and the ‘New Weird’ subgenre of horror. The dread father of the genre, HP Lovecraft, gave this particular type of weirdness a definition and distinction from other brands of horror. For Lovecraft, the true weird tale was more than merely “bloody bones, or a sheeted form clanking chains.” It had to do with the creation of the inexplicable, the realisation of constant dread, the nagging notion of “unknown forces”.

The Witcher 3: Complete Edition includes everything that’s been released for CD Projekt RED’s huge RPG. That means Switch players will be able to play the full Wild Hunt campaign, in addition to the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. It also comes with 16 DLC packs, which include content like quests, contracts, and armour, in addition to cosmetics like new beards and hair.

Additionally, the Switch port comes with stickers, a world map, and a compendium for The Witcher universe. The physical version also includes everything on a single Switch card, so you won’t need to download anything to enjoy it.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt received one of GameSpot’s few 10/10 scores. In our The Witcher 3 Review, critic Kevin Van Ord called it “one of the best role-playing games ever crafted, a titan among giants and the standard-setter for all such games going forward.”

“Where the Witcher 2 sputtered to a halt, The Witcher 3 is always in a crescendo,” he wrote. “But while the grand clashes are captivating, it is the moments between conflicts, when you drink with the local clans and bask in a trobairitz’s song, that are truly inspiring.”

FIFA 20, Apex Legends Servers Down As EA Suffers Connectivity Issues

EA is experiencing a server outage impacting some of its online games including FIFA 20, Battlefield 5, and Apex Legends. In a tweet, the company said it is aware of connectivity problems with its games and is working to address them.

In a follow-up, the company also said some users may be experiencing issues with contacting its help resources, which could prevent players from sending reports. That could be a byproduct of users attempting to send reports, especially since games like FIFA are top sellers in some regions.

The nature of the outage is unknown. Apex Legends players, at least, appear to be getting an error code 100 or 103, which prevents users from signing in to their EA account.

One Punch Man Game Closed Beta Announced

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

With Saitama’s popularity in anime fandom, it should come as no surprise that the One Punch Man universe is getting a video game adaptation. Prolific anime game publisher Bandai Namco has released a new One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows trailer that reveals some of the game’s mechanics, character customization, closed beta, and more.

Launching sometime in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, A Hero Nobody Knows will feature a dedicated story mode where you embark on missions as a created character, seeking to rise through the ranks of the Hero Association. You will engage in 3v3 battles impacted by the game’s world; various obstacles–such as giants, meteors, other heroes, and more–will attempt to thwart your mission success.

Alongside the trailer, Bandai Namco announced that A Hero Nobody Knows will have a closed beta for US, Canada, and Latin America next month on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Sign-ups are open now and will remain so until October 16, with participants being selected and notified on October 29. The closed beta takes place between November 1-3 and Xbox One players are required to have an active Gold membership to join.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows Closed Beta Start Times

  • Session 1: November 1, 3 AM – 5 AM PT
  • Session 2: November 1, 11 PM – 1 AM PT
  • Session 3: November 2, 2 PM – 4 PM PT
  • Session 4: November 3, 1 PM – 3 PM PT

Bandai Namco shared a trailer showcasing a variety of the game’s characters in August. Next to Saitama, A Hero Nobody Knows will include Atomic Samurai, Bang, Genos, Speed-o’-Sound Sonic, Tatsumaki, and many more. And true to the series’ lore, Saitama KOs most characters in one punch.

Rainbow Six Siege Considered Adding A Very Good Doggo

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

Rainbow Six Siege has become one of Ubisoft’s most successful live games with a steady stream of new operators joining the competitive landscape. One fan recently wondered if the game would ever add a K9 operator, and while the team at Ubisoft has considered it, there’s one problem holding them back: no one wants to kill a dog.

The answer came in the midst of a Q&A with presentation director Alexander Karpazis. The format was addressing questions from Twitter, which means his answers were quick and pithy. In response to one fan asking about a K9 unit in Siege, he simply acknowledged that the team had thought about it, but implied the team hasn’t figured a way around that central problem.

“This is something we’ve talked about for a while,” Karpazis said. “Our creative director always talks about a K9 unit. But to answer your question, I have to ask you a question: are you okay with shooting a dog?”

Dogs as enemies are common in games featuring hordes of undead, and less so but still present in games like Call of Duty. The upcoming game The Last of Us 2 features dogs as enemy units, which may make you pretty uncomfortable. But introducing it in a competitive game is a different kind of design challenge, and Karpazis doesn’t sound sure they’ve solved it.

Elsewhere in the Q&A, he mentions that the team cancelled plans for an Area 51 map. The most recent update added an operator with a flame-throwing shield, so despite its gritty Tom Clancy roots the game isn’t exactly afraid to get absurd. Ubisoft just doesn’t want to make you sad while they’re at it.
