Xbox One Games On Sale This Week At The Microsoft Store

It’s a new week on the Microsoft Store, which means a new slate of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games is on sale. Some of the deals are available to everyone, while others require you to have an Xbox Live Gold account. Now, I’m going to be frank with you: it’s not a great week in terms of deals. Only a few games are on sale, and none of them are likely to knock your socks off.

We could cry about that, or we could wonder what it means. My thinking is that Microsoft is gearing up to launch a major sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday and is saving the best deals for that. So check out the games that are on sale now below. If you find the selection disappointing, just hold on and see if next week’s deals blow you away–they just might. Without further ado, here’s what’s on sale between now and November 19.

Probably the best game of the bunch is Valiant Hearts: The Great War, which is on sale for $4.50. It’s a puzzle adventure game that shows how World War I affected the lives of everyday people. It also contains a lot of historical information, so you just might learn a thing or two.

I Am Bread, a game that tasks you with controlling a piece of bread, is on sale for $3.24. Horror fans might want to grab Don’t Knock Twice for $4.50, and puzzle game aficionados can pick up Unbox: Newbie’s Adventure for $9. Anyone with an Xbox 360 that’s still hooked up can get Sonic & Sega Racing for $10 or Stuntman: Ignition for $2.24.

You can see the full list of games on sale over on Major Nelson’s blog. In the meantime, if you have Xbox Live Gold and you enjoy free games, make sure to pick up your November Games with Gold. And if you want to see what kinds of deals you’ll be able to get next week, check out our Black Friday hub, where we’re tracking all the video game deals at all the major retailers.

New Alita: Battle Angel Trailer Delivers Serious Cyborg Action

It’s been nearly a year since the first trailer for the James Cameron-produced manga adaptation Alita: Battle Angel was released, and the movie still won’t be with us until February. In the meantime, a new trailer has arrived.

This latest promo recaps much of the basic plot, in which a girl called Alita (Rosa Salazar), who is growing up in a futuristic city, discovers that she is a cyborg that was found on a rubbish dump by her scientist dad, played by Django Unchain’s Christoph Waltz. We then get a ton of action, including confrontations with other cyborgs and a violent chase on what looks like a sci-fi race track. Check it out above.

Alita: Battle Angel also stars Jennifer Connelly (Hulk), Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage), Ed Skrein (Deadpool), and Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen). It’s directed by Sin City’s Robert Rodriguez. Cameron intended to direct the movie for many years, but in 2016 handed over the reins to Rodriguez, who is also known for the likes of From Dusk Till Dawn, Desperado, and the Spy Kids movies. The movie was originally set for release in July this year, but was delayed a couple of times and now hits theaters on February 14, 2019.

When the first trailer debuted last year, the movie attracted some controversy for the look of the title character–specifically, her large, unnatural eyes. Rodriguez explained at San Diego Comic Con in July that he wanted a realistic depiction of the source material, echoing James Cameron’s wishes to bring the manga to life.

The manga Battle Angel Alita was first published in 1990, and the original series ran for nine volumes until 1995. In 1993, a two-episode anime version was produced, which adapted the first two volumes of the manga.

Spider-Man’s Second DLC, Turf Wars, Release Date Announced

Those who have finished the first chapter of Spider-Man‘s The City That Never Sleeps story, called The Heist, know it ended with a cliffhanger. Sony and Insomniac have now teased the second part of that continuing story with Turf Wars, coming on November 20. It packs the next chapter of the story and three more DLC Spidey suits.

After being spoken about in hushed tones in The Heist, the mob boss Hammerhead takes center stage in Turf Wars. Here he’s continuing his war on the other crime families, and he’s brought some heavy-duty equipment left by Sable’s mercenaries after her appearance in the main campaign. Turf Wars will include new story missions, bases to complete, crimes, challenges and trophies.

The DLC will also introduce another set of Spidey suits. This time they include the Spider-Armor MK-I suit, the Marvel Mangaverse Spider-Clan suit, and the comic version of the Iron Spider Armor. The comics Iron Spider looks a bit different than the one presented in Avengers: Infinity War, which already appeared in the game.

Turf Wars is available for $10 individually, or as part of the season pass for $25. That will get you access to all three packs–The Heist, Turf Wars, and Silver Lining, which is due in December.

Tetris Effect: Players Finally Find Stage With THAT Music

Tetris Effect puts a refreshing and entrancing spin on the puzzle game we’ve been playing for decades, and a large part of that comes down to the music. Still, fans hoping to hear the classic Tetris theme won’t be disappointed, as it has just been discovered as part of a weekly challenge.

According to Eurogamer, during the game’s launch weekend, a “Weekly Ritual” event tasked players with contributing points in order to hit a collective goal. They managed to do it, and Tetris Effect unlocked the “1989” stage as a reward. It is no longer available to most players, but those who hit level 50 will unlock it for good.

Fallout 76: Bethesda Outlines Post-Launch Additions, Including More Vaults

Fallout 76 officially releases November 14, but the game you play at launch won’t be the exact same game you play down the road.

In a post on the official Bethesda website, the Bethesda Game Studios team said that it was committed to continue to improve Fallout 76 over time, and that work had already been done as a result of the B.E.T.A. test.

“We have an incredible list of updates we’ve begun work on – from C.A.M.P. building improvements, new quests and events, new Vaults opening, character respecing, a faction-based PvP system, and much more.”

Blizzard Announces Official Overwatch Cosplay Battle

Blizzard is organizing a cosplay competition that pits six European nations against one another to see who can make the best Overwatch hero costume.

Called Overwatch Cosplay Battle, the competition “is a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and national pride,” according to a press release.

Three cosplayers from each country – France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, and the United Kingdom – will work for three months on a single costume. Each team’s costume will be influenced by a community vote. The voting page isn’t live yet, but it should be soon. Blizzard will announce the winning costumes from the fan vote on November 26.

Did DC Just Design the Perfect Batman Costume?

This week’s Batman #58 is one of the best-looking Batman comics you’re likely to find on the stands right now. That’s not surprising, given that Mikel Janin has long since established himself as one of the top Batman artists in the business. There is one weird quirk to be found in this issue, however. Due to an unusual choice of lighting, one page features Batman wearing what seems to be a combination of his current costume and his previous DC Rebirth suit.

You can argue over whether this particular embellishment works well, especially since nowhere else in the comic does Batman’s cape have that purplish tinge. But whether intentionally or not, Janin and colorist Jordie Bellaire may have created the perfect Batman costume.

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee Review

It’s often with rose-colored glasses that I look back at Pokemon’s Kanto story, and I know I’m not the only one who feels a deep connection to the wooded region. It’s where many long-time fans had their first Pokemon adventure, and it’s the region where I met one of my favorite characters of all time. It’s with great relief that, even when I consciously remove those glasses, I find something greatly deserving of that deep admiration when I look at Pokémon: Let’s Go. After about 40 hours with the Pikachu version, I put down my Nintendo Switch impressed with how well this reimagining of Pokemon Yellow matches my memories of my first adventure, albeit with a few major differences that almost all turn out to be for the better.
