Arrow Season 7 Photos: Oliver In Jail, Punk Rock Felicity, And More

Arrow fans are in for a very different Season 7. With Oliver (Stephen Amell) in prison, cut off from the rest of his team, the Green Arrow isn’t able to protect Star City; he also can’t protect himself.

The first batch of photos for the new season have been released, keeping a literal divide Oliver and those he cares about most. While his face can’t be seen clearly, it’s easy to tell the slammer isn’t doing Oliver any favors–he’s battered and bruised. What else did they think would happen when they tossed in the rich vigilante with all of the guys he’s captured over the years?

Another face seen in the photos, visiting Oliver, is Diggle (David Ramsey). Ramsey previously confirmed to GameSpot that he would be one of Oliver’s only allies in prison as the two have put their differences behind them and are now friends once again. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be much help to the imprisoned Green Arrow, though.

The only other character shows in the photos is Oliver’s wife, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). She looks quite a bit different than fans last saw her, though. Felicity and William, Oliver’s son, have gone into witness protection after he was imprisoned, which seemed to come with a makeover. Now she has pink hair and a nose ring. We are here for punk rock Felicity. She’s almost as cool as goth Felicity was in Season 5.

While these images don’t show much in the way of action, the first trailer for the new season was packed with it. As Oliver faces off against some of his old foes–including Cody Rhodes returning as Derek Sampson–the fights are going to be utterly vicious. Hopefully, Oliver gets out of all of those alive and reunites with his team sooner, rather than later.

Arrow returns Monday, October 15, on The CW. Before then, make sure to check out all of the spoilers and teases we know about the show so far.

Sega Genesis Mini Delayed To 2019

The Sega Genesis Mini has been delayed to 2019. Originally announced with a 2018 release date, the little system is now scheduled to arrive next year, Sega announced in a tweet.

Gematsu translated the Japanese tweet and quotes Sega as saying it decided to push back release in part to allow the company to launch the console around the world simultaneously.

Sega added that it wants the Sega Genesis Mini to have a “level of quality that Sega fans expect,” according to Gematsu. The delay also apparently relates to the fact that Sega is looking to “rethink the design of the device,” according to the site.

The Sega Genesis Mini, or Mega Drive as it was known in Japan, was announced back in April. At the time, Sega said it was scheduled to launch in 2018 but did not share any other details.

It won’t be the first mini version of the Sega Genesis. The officially licensed Sega Genesis Flashback console from AtGames was a major disappointment.

Plug-and-play consoles have proven to be incredibly popular, at least in the United States. Sales of such consoles grew by a factor of 21x in August 2018 compared to last year; year to date, dollar sales of plug-and-play consoles jumped 400 percent. The NES Classic leads the way in terms of total units sold in 2018, while the SNES Classic, which is more expensive, has driven the most dollar sales.

Marvel’s Loki, Scarlet Witch Getting Their Own TV Shows – Report

Disney’s new streaming service will include brand-new TV shows based on “beloved superheroes” who haven’t received their own movies. That’s according to a report from Variety, whose sources said there will be shows for Loki and Scarlet Witch, both of whom have appeared in numerous Marvel films, but haven’t had their own movies as of yet.

Intriguingly, Variety reports that Disney is looking for the movie actors to play the same roles in the TV shows, instead of going for a different cast. That means Tom Hiddleston is lined up to play Loki and Elizabeth Olsen tapped to play Scarlet Witch.

Each show will be 6-8 episodes, according to the report. They will be produced by Marvel Studios, and studio boss Kevin Feige is reportedly going to have a “hands-on” role in them.

Another important note from the report is that the new shows will focus on “second-tier” MCU characters, not topline ones like Captain America and Iron Man. No story details for the new shows were referenced in the report. You can read Variety’s full story here.

Disney’s upcoming streaming service is poised to be a rival of sorts to Netflix. It is reportedly due to launch at the end of 2019; details on subscription pricing has yet be announced.

The rumoured new superhero shows join the previously confirmed Season 7 for Star Wars: The Clone Wars for the Disney streaming service. What’s more, there will be a live-action Star Wars series on the new service, which will be set seven years after Return of the Jedi.

Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest on Disney’s streaming service. In other Marvel news, the first full-length trailer for Captain Marvel has arrived–watch it here.

Brutal Legend Xbox One Version Has All The Original Songs

Double Fine’s Brutal Legend–the studio’s best-selling game ever–launched on Xbox One today through the backwards compatibility catalog. The 2009 metal-themed action game featuring Jack Black as Eddie Riggs relies heavily on its excellent soundtrack.

With the game coming to Xbox One, it was unclear if Brutal Legend’s soundtrack would have to face any cuts due to licensing issues. Thankfully, it doesn’t. Double Fine’s Greg Rice tells GameSpot that the Xbox One version has “all the original music.”

The game features dozens of metal songs, including tunes from the likes of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead, and Black’s own Tenacious D, as well as 3 Inches of Blood, Skid Row, and Mastodon. It is an impressive soundtrack featuring a wide range of metal songs. The music is so deeply woven into the overall Brutal Legend experience, so it’s great to know that all of the original songs are in the Xbox One version.

Brutal Legend’s connection to metal goes deeper than songs alone. Ozzy Osbourne, Rob and Lita Halford, and Lemmy all voice characters in the game.

Brutal Legend, which was published by EA, was expected to be followed up with a sequel. However, Brutal Legend 2 was canceled back in 2010. Since then, Double Fine boss Tim Schafer has time and again talked about wanting to return to the franchise someday, possibly even with Black.

How To Play Play Ghost Recon: Wildlands For Free This Weekend

Looking for something to play this weekend and don’t want to spend any money? Ubisoft’s open-world action game Ghost Recon: Wildlands will be free this weekend on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but only for a limited time.

From September 20-23, Ubisoft will offer the full game, as well as some of its PvP and PvE missions, to everyone on all platforms for free. Presumably the progress you make during the free weekend will carry forward to the full game should you decide to pick it up.

And if you do want to purchase the game, Ubisoft just announced two new versions of the game, including the Year 2 Gold Edition ($80) and the Ultimate Edition ($120). The Ultimate Edition features the Year 1 season pass that comes with the expansions Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts. It also includes the Year 2 season pass, as well as a variety of in-game extras

The Year 2 Gold Edition, meanwhile, comes with the base game and the Year 2 season pass.

In other news, Wildlands got a new update this week, Update 16, that added a new “mood” matchmaking system that allows players to select a particular “mood” for the match they are looking for. The update also adds other quality of life updates and features.

For more on Wildlands, you can check out GameSpot’s feature in the video embed above in which we talk about giving the game a second chance.

Captain Marvel Trailer Breakdown: Brie Larson, Carol Danvers, And All The Details

We’re still six months away from the release of the next Marvel Studios movie, but recently, the first trailer for Captain Marvel dropped, giving us an idea what this movie is going to be about.

The film follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) a pilot who receives superpowers and becomes part of an elite military team in the outreaches of space under a new name, Captain Marvel. However, the hero heads back to Earth, but trouble follows her from her fight in the cosmos.

Aside from Larson, Captain Marvel stars DeWanda Wise, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace, Clark Gregg, Samuel Jackson, and Ben Mendelsohn. The film will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The two directors previously collaborated on the TV series Billions, Room 104, and The Affair.

We’re taking a look at the new trailer and breaking it down, scene by scene, to see what we can learn about the movie. From superpowers to Skrulls to Nick Fury with both eyes, this new trailer packs a punch–one for an old lady on a subway. Here’s what we learned from the new trailer.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 6, 2019. For more, check out our guide to Captain Marvel‘s cast.

Captain Marvel Trailer Update: Everything We Know About The Movie

The first trailer for Captain Marvel is finally here, and fans couldn’t be more excited about Marvel’s next movie, which doesn’t hit theaters until Spring 2019. The first female-focused solo film promises some action both in space and right here on Earth. Now, with the release of more information about the film, official set photos, the new trailer, and a breakdown, a wider picture for the movie has been painted.

Again, it’s early, but this film looks exceptionally promising for a few reasons. While many Marvel fans are still trying to get over the ending of Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel won’t be a follow-up, as it takes place at least two decades prior, during the ’90s. In addition, the movie will jump viewers right into the action, skipping out on the origin story. There are also a few connections to other Marvel movies that we’ve noticed from casting announcements as well as set photos.

We’re keeping a running list of every Captain Marvel related announcement, confirmation, and plot detail as they trickle in over the next six months. There have been a few updates recently, including who Ben Mendelsohn and Lashana Lynch are playing in the upcoming film. Keep checking back as we plan on keeping you up-to-date on the latest Captain Marvel news up until its release.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019. It will be followed sometime in April with the release of Avengers 4.
