Fallout 4 GOTY Edition Black Friday 2018 Deals On PC, PS4, And Xbox One

Black Friday 2018 is almost here, and we’re now seeing more games that will eventually be on sale during the big retail rush. With the release of Fallout 76, the series’ first attempt as an online multiplayer action-RPG, it should come as no surprise that its predecessor will see some action during the upcoming Black Friday sale. On November 23, you can expect to see Fallout 4: Game Of The Year Edition on PC, PS4, and Xbox One go on sale.

In addition to sales for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, SoulCalibur VI, and God of War, Fallout 4 is one of many games that you can find during the Black Friday 2018 sale. As of this time, these discounts aren’t active yet, but this will give you plenty of time to plan ahead of the big November 23 retail event.

For now, we’ve spotted discounts for Fallout 4: Game Of The Year Edition on Best Buy, Target, and Walmart–ranging from $25 to $30 for the Black Friday sale. In addition to the GOTY release, the base version of Fallout 4 is also on sale at Target for the low price of $12, making it a solid deal for anyone looking to get into the game for cheap.

Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition is a collection of all the released content from the game, which includes major expansions Far Harbor and Nuka World. Much other Bethesda titles, Fallout 4 focused on allowing players to create their own story within an open world. Set in post-apocalyptic Boston, you play as the Lone Survivor of Vault 111, who must find his son after being in suspended animation for more than 200 years. In typical Fallout fashion, you’ll explore a setting that shows off shades of 1950’s sci-fi–post nuclear–and acquire a set of weapons that can vaporize or blow your enemies to pieces. Over the course of your adventure, you’ll level up and make important decisions about which characters you should align with or go against.

In our review of Fallout 4 back in 2015, managing editor Peter Brown stated: “In the grand scheme of things, Fallout 4’s minor issues pale in comparison to its successes. When you put the controller down, you think about the friend you betrayed to benefit another, the shifting tide of an incredible battle, or the moment you opened a drawer and found someone’s discarded effects, making you wonder how they felt before the bombs fell. In moments like these, Fallout 4 can be an intoxicating experience. You’re often forced to sacrifice something–a relationship, a lucrative opportunity, or your health–to make gains elsewhere. And the deeper down the rabbit hole you go, the more you wonder: what if I chose a different path? You second guess yourself, not just because you had other options, but because you aren’t sure if you did the right thing. The fact that your decisions stick with you after walking away from the game is a testament to the great storytelling on hand. Fallout 4 is an argument for substance over style, and an excellent addition to the revered open-world series.”

This deal is just one of many happening on Black Friday 2018. For now, be sure to keep track of the our round up for upcoming sales on our unique posts for each major retailer. And remember, these deals aren’t active just yet, so keep track of the deals that stick out most to you. Be sure to to keep up with all of our Black Friday 2018 coverage on GameSpot.

Overwatch’s New Hero, Ashe, Is Now Live

Blizzard has rolled out a new update for its popular shooter, Overwatch. Patch 1.30 is now available on all platforms–PS4, Xbox One, and PC–and makes a handful of changes to several of the game’s maps and characters, along with introducing its newest hero, Ashe.

Unveiled during BlizzCon 2018 earlier this month, Ashe is the the leader of the Deadlock gang and the 29th character to join the Overwatch roster. She arrived on the Public Test Region shortly after her reveal at BlizzCon, but this marks the first time she’s available on all platforms. However, at the moment you’ll only be able to use her in unranked play; she won’t be available in Competitive Play until two weeks after her release.

Ashe is an offensive hero and one of Overwatch’s more versatile characters. Her main weapon, The Viper, is a lever-action rifle capable of firing in semi-automatic bursts with a high spread. She can also aim down its sights for precision shots. On top of that, Ashe comes equipped with a Coach Gun, which allows her to deal a lot of damage at a close range and can even send Ashe flying backward if fired at the ground.

Another unique ability at Ashe’s disposal is Dynamite. She can throw the explosive onto the battlefield; it will then explode after a short amount of time or immediately if shot. Finally, her Ultimate is BOB, her robotic butler/bodyguard introduced alongside her in the Reunion animated short. When summoned, BOB will charge forward and fire at foes with his arm cannons.

In addition to Ashe, Patch 1.30 makes some general changes to all heroes, as well as a few specific to Mercy, Reaper, Symmetra, and Roadhog. The power of Mercy’s ultimate has been increased, while Reaper has been tweaked to make him a more suitable for close-range combat. Roadhog received the biggest set of changes; you can see them all in the patch notes below.

Overwatch November 13 Update Patch Notes

Hero Updates

Mercy

Developer Comments: Mercy’s ultimate was charging a bit too slowly after her base healing was reduced in a previous update. These changes should restore some of her ultimate’s strength and let it build up more quickly.

Reaper

Developer Comments: Reaper’s specialty is fighting at a very close range. The more consistent spread pattern and increase in healing from his passive ability will make him more capable of standing toe-to-toe with his enemies.

Symmetra

Developer Comments: It’s still difficult to use Symmetra’s Photon Projector beam effectively, even after its range was increased. By speeding up the primary fire charge rate, it takes less time to ramp up to its full damage potential and will be a stronger option when she’s presented with targets to charge up on.

Roadhog

Developer Comments: Roadhog is receiving several large changes to make his abilities more consistent. His Chain Hook had issues with breaking when enemy targets jumped or fell behind environment collision. It will now slow them down in the air more when the hook lands, and wait less time before it starts reeling them in. Since Chain Hook’s cooldown now begins immediately upon use, so it no longer varies based on Roadhog’s distance to the hook target. We’ve also moved some of the projectiles closer to the center of the spread pattern on his Scrap Gun, which gives him a more consistent damage output for its primary and alternate fire. Previously, there was a long-standing bug that caused close-range targets to fly much further than expected. After this bug was fixed, we still wanted to keep some of the knockback burst it provided, so we’ve increased the overall velocity cap to maintain some of that functionality.

  • Assemble Your Team timer increased from 10 to 25 seconds in the second round on Assault, Assault/Escort, and Escort maps

Destiny 2’s Wanted: Eye In The Dark — Spider Bounty Guide

The Spider has painted a new target on an escapee of the Prison of Elders with the latest Destiny 2 weekly reset. With the new round of bounties comes Wanted: Eye In The Dark, a wanted target players haven’t hunted before. It’s a powerful Hive Shrieker hiding in one of the deep places of the Hellas Basin on Mars. You’ll need some strong weapons to bring it down, as well as the resiliency to fight off a whole horde of Hive minions. Here’s where to find it, and how to take it down to earn a piece of Powerful gear.

Like all of the Wanted Spider bounties, this one will run you five Ghost Fragments, which you can earn from completing public events, bounties, and patrols on the Tangled Shore. Purchase it, and you’ll unlock a new Adventure on Mars. Load into the Glacial Drift area, then head up north along the eastern edge of the map to reach the Ma’adim Subterrane Lost Sector to start the Adventure.

Delve into the cave and you’ll find Cabal fighting Hive throughout the area. Clear the path until you get to the back of the Lost Sector, where you’ll find the Eye In The Dark hovering over you, closed up. You’ll soon find that the Shrieker is invulnerable to your attacks–the only way to hurt it when it is opened is to have the “Wormcursed” buff active, which lets you dish out the damage for 15 seconds.

To get the buff, look for special Wormcursed Thralls, which are glowing Cursed Thralls, hanging around the battlefield. These guys carry orange life bars and are therefore a bit tough to kill, so watch out they don’t explode and take you down. Once they pop, they’ll spray green goo all over the area. You can catch some from the explosion or walk through it to get it on you, which will give you the buff. As soon as you’ve got it, turn your attention to blasting away at the Eye.

Doing a certain amount of damage will cause the Eye In The Dark to clam up again, forcing you to fight a whole bunch of Hive enemies that stream into the area. Try to keep moving so you don’t get overwhelmed, and watch your six, as enemies will enter behind you along the path you took to reach the Eye. Clearing out all the enemies will cause the Eye to open again, and you’ll need to repeat the process of killing a Womrcursed Thrall to get the buff.

If you’re at a high level and have strong weapons like Sleeper Simulant, you should be able to take down the Eye on that second buff. Crowd control supers are really helpful here, since the Hive can be overwhelming, as is anything that does powerful direct damage to the Eye, like sniper rifles or linear fusion rifles. Heavy weapons are good for the Eye, while assault rifles and other fast-firing weapons will be good for fighting the Hive that protect it.

Killing the Eye will complete the bounty and net you your Powerful gear drop, which is the gear in Destiny 2 that will push you toward the Power level cap of 600. To continue the climb, focus on Daily and Weekly challenges, as well as the Ascendant Challenge in the Dreaming City.

You might also want to check out the Iron Banner Crucible event, which is back with this week’s reset. Battling in the Crucible will earn you increased Valor and Glory ranks, plus the opportunity to complete Iron Banner bounties, all of which are good for Powerful gear drops. And don’t forget that this week marks the final step in the Murder Mystery quest to unlock a new Exotic weapon, the heavy machine gun Thunderlord from the original Destiny.

The Black Friday 2018 deals are coming in thick and fast, and the event hasn’t even started yet! This year, the annual shopping holiday is set to officially begin on November 23 but retailers are giving prospective spenders a heads-up. The first off the starting line was Target, but others have now followed.

If you’re anything like us, you’ll find it all a bit overwhelming. The ridiculous amount of deals whizzing about the internet right now makes it hard to focus on the best, so we’ve decided to pick through them and pull out the ones we think are worth consideration.

Star Wars: Mandalorian TV Show Casts Game Of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal

The Mandalorian may have found its star. Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Kingsman: The Golden Circle) is reportedly set to head up the original Star Wars series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Mandalorian is preparing to launch on Disney’s paid subscription service, called Disney+, next year.

Disney confirmed The Mandalorian with its first official image and some very high-profile names set to direct individual episodes. Those include Taika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), and Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones). It will join another planned series that will bring back Diego Luna to reprise his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One.

The Mandalorian takes place after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi but before the new episodic films. It’s said to follow a lone gunfighter outrunning the law of the New Republic, after the legendary Mandalorians Jango and Boba Fett’s time has passed.

A film spin-off featuring the fan favorite character Boba Fett was said to be in the planning stages at Lucasfilm, but Solo: A Star Wars Story was a commercial disappointment and appears to have led the studio to reevaluate its plans. Disney head Bob Iger suggested that the sequels may have come “too much, too fast” and a shortly after reports circulated that the Boba Fett movie was officially put on hold. The Mandalorian still lets the studio tap one of its more iconic character designs, though.

Working With Spielberg, BioShock, and Underworld Ascendant: A Chat With Joe Fielder

Wondering If Overlord Was A Cloverfield Movie Was Fun For The Actors Too

When Jovan Adepo first read the script for Overlord during the auditioning process, he was excited. “I was just thinking to myself, ‘This is an incredibly ambitious film,'” the actor told GameSpot during a recent interview.

Overlord follows a small squad of World War II paratroopers on a mission to destroy a radio tower on the eve of the famous Normandy landing in 1944. In a small French village, they discover horrifying experiments being perpetrated by evil Nazi scientists. Adepo plays Boyce, a member of the squad and the movie’s main protagonist.

Naturally, in addition to the film’s ambition, Adepo also liked one of the names attached to the movie: producer J.J. Abrams. “When my agent first told me about it and he told me who was involved, you know, I was obviously intrigued,” Adepo said. But it was more than just working with Abrams. Adepo spent much of production wondering the same thing as many fans: whether Overlord was going to be a Cloverfield movie.

“I’m a digger, man. I came from a journalist background, so I’m naturally very nosy,” Adepo said. “I was watching Cloverfield Paradox right after the Super Bowl, and I was really curious as to how we were going to be connected to them, or if we were at all.”

The question was treated as mystery internally, just like it was to those outside the movie. At one point, Adepo flat out asked: “It might not have been the smartest thing, but whatever–I just went up to one of the producers and I was like, ‘Hey are we a part of the Cloverfield universe? And he was like, ‘Uh, Jovan, I don’t know,’ and I know he knew, but he just wasn’t going to tell me. But I mean, that’s what you expect. Bad Robot is very good at keeping everything in this ‘mystery box’ until it’s the perfect time.”

Adepo said if there were Cloverfield connections in the early version of the script that he saw during auditioning, he never noticed them. And the script apparently underwent only minor changes after that, such as altering Boyce’s background after Adepo was cast. Adepo said the producers allowed the question to float around set well into production. But eventually, they came clean to the cast.

“There was a moment, from what I can remember, when we were doing a couple of pickups, where they just knew that we were very curious about the whole thing, and they were like, ‘No guys, we’re kind of just teasing you,'” Adepo recalled. “‘We were just pulling your leg. We very much wanted this to be its on thing.’ Because when it was conceived, it was its own thing.”

Naturally, not every production from Abrams’ Bad Robot studio is going to wind up being a secret Cloverfield movie, like 10 Cloverfield Lane and Cloverfield Paradox were. Overlord’s potential place in that canon felt both likely and unlikely; on one hand, a movie set during World War II would take place long before the events that set any of the other Cloverfield films in motion, but on the other, Overlord’s mix of grounded action and sci-fi horror is the exact right kind of weird to fit.

Adepo said he was intimidated to work with Abrams either way–until he met him. “It was a really cool experience, and it was really cool to meet him, because, you know, just seeing him only in videos and in interviews and stuff, he’s so intimidating to me,” Adepo said. “But to get to meet him in person, he’s one of the kindest people I’ve met, and he just genuinely wants you to do well.”

Abrams visited the set in England multiple times to check on production and offer his own creative input. “It’s so cool to see him walk around and just like, smile to himself and nod his head, and he’s like, ‘Show me the next thing, because I think you’re doing a good job,'” Adepo said. “When J.J. flies from Los Angeles to England to see the work on the film and he’s just smiling the whole time, you’re doing your job.”

He said Julius Avery, Overlord’s director, deserves a lot of credit for having a clear vision and executing it while also balancing the studios’ demands. “[Julius] walked in the first day of pre-production with this idea of the type of movie that he wanted to make,” Adepo said. “This is a guy who is in love with action movies, the classical heist film–that’s like, his jam. His favorite movie is Heat, for Christ’s sake. So when came into this movie, he knew exactly what he wanted to do. And of course, when you’re working with the studio, you have to learn to collaborate and be efficient in your collaboration, because everybody’s bringing great ideas to the forefront. You want to just try to mix it as much as you can and still come out with your movie.”

Cloverfield tie-in or not, Adepo thinks the people who will enjoy the movie most are the ones who understand what it’s supposed to be. “I’ve heard people talk about it’s like one of those classic B horror films,” he said. “Don’t get me wrong–you know, my first film was [1950s period drama] Fences. I get like, the importance of heightened drama and, you know, proper filmmaking. But like, you want to be able to go to a movie and enjoy a movie without it speaking to the social climate of what’s going on right now, or whatever the case may be. You know what I mean?”

“We get enough of that every day in the news,” he continued. “You want to have a moment where you can go to the movies, get some popcorn with your buddies or go on a date, and just see a really fun movie that’s high energy that’s going to keep you involved, and that’s exactly what Bad Robot wanted to do with this film. And I think we accomplished that.”

Overlord is in theaters now.
