Sansa Stark Actress Thinks GoT Series Finale Will Divide Fans

Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the HBO show, thinks the series finale will split fans down the middle.

During a phone interview today to promote the first trailer for Dark Phoenix, wherein she reprises her role as X-Men member Jean Grey, Turner revealed her reaction to reading the script for the series finale.

“A lot of tears. I think, you know, as an actor it was really satisfying — I think for everyone, everyone’s storylines — to be able to act out the way that it all ends. It was really satisfying for us,” Turner said. “Who knows if it will be satisfying for the fans. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think. I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions, but for me reading the script it was just like heartbreaking to read at the very final page of the script it just says, ‘End of Game of Thrones’. That was really emotional.”

Dark Phoenix: Exclusive First Look at 2 New X-Men Characters

In addition to the first trailer for Dark Phoenix, IGN also has two exclusive photos from the long-awaited next X-Men movie to share with you. I also had the chance to chat separately today with director-writer Simon Kinberg and Jean Grey actress Sophie Turner about the film, which offers a new interpretation of the Dark Phoenix saga previously adapted for X-Men: The Last Stand. One of our exclusive photos is the first look at new mutant characters played by Andrew Stehlin and Kota Eberhardt.

Dark Phoenix marks the first time the X-Men movies have embraced the cosmic elements that were a part of the original Marvel Comics, particularly the Dark Phoenix saga. The filmmaker did confirm that the movie’s antagonist, played by Jessica Chastain, is an alien. He also confirmed that her character is not named “Smith” as had been reported, while opting to “plead the fifth” when pressed on earlier reports that the avian alien civilization known as the Shi’ar Empire was in the movie. (Chastain’s role was originally reported to be Lilandra, empress of the Shi’ar Empire.)

Hearthstone: Team 5 on Designing The Boomsday Project’s Legendaries

Hearthstone’s newest expansion – The Boomsday Project – is absolutely brimming with memorable legendary cards. From the introduction of legendary spells like Luna’s Pocket Galaxy, Floop’s Glorious Gloop and Myra’s Unstable Element, through to wild designs like Mecha’thun, Dr. Boom, Mad Genius and Whizbang the Wonderful, this set has been a lot of fun to experiment with.

To find out about the design process behind the cards, I caught up with Team 5’s Lead Initial Designer Peter Whalen and Lead Final Designer Dean Ayala for a chat. (The first part was published a couple of weeks ago.) They even gave IGN some exclusive work-in-progress (WIP) card art to illustrate earlier designs that didn’t make the cut. Enjoy!

Fortnite Challenge Guide Season 6 Week 1: Dance Under Streetlight Spotlights

Fortnite Season 6 has begun, which means it’s time for a fresh start with a whole new Battle Pass. As with the previous season, we’ll be here every week to give you a complete breakdown of all the newest challenges, the rewards you’ll get for completing them, and guides for getting them done as quickly and easily as possible. For those new to this, here’s a quick breakdown of how everything works: By completing weekly challenges you’ll earn Battle Stars that level up your Battle Pass and unlock certain rewards. However, challenges are split into two tiers, with some only available to those that have spent 950 V-Bucks in-game on a paid Battle Pass.

For the first week of Season 6 there’s a nice selection of challenges available in both the free and paid tier. In the former, you’ll need to grab a Legendary Item in three different matches, use a Cozy Campfire to restore 150 points of health, and begin a multi-stage quest by searching three chests. Once those three have been searched, more stages will open up.

In the paid tier, meanwhile, you’ll need to apply 500 points of shield, land at Junk Junction to kick off another multi-stage quest, dance under seven Streetlight Spotlights, and eliminate an opponent in five different named locations. If you manage to complete any four of these challenges you’ll earn 5K XP.

Alongside the start of Season 6, developer Epic Games has released Fortnite update 6.0, introducing Pets, throwing some items and weapons into the Vault, making tweaks to the map, and adding in new consumables. You can read all about the new additions and changes in the full Fortnite update 6.0 patch notes.

Fortnite Season 6 Map And New Locations: Floating Island, Haunted Castle, And More

As part of Fortnite Season 6, developer Epic Games has given the Island on which people build, break, loot, and kill as part of the game’s Battle Royale mode some tweaks. As detailed in the Fortnite update 6.0 patch notes, there are a number of new locations to check out, and the map has been updated to reflect this.

Although it might be tricky to tell exactly what’s changed without actually being on the ground and exploring yourself, there’s a few changes that you can see on the map immediately. First of all, loot lake is now been blackened, with a smaller land mass visible in the middle. This landmass is now a floating island, which players can reach by gliding onto it, building up to it, or jumping into the lake and being bounced up to it.

The other big change to the map is the new corrupted areas, which you can see on the map as black spots. These provide a nice new visual change for players to enjoy, but there also might be some secrets hidden away in them. The patch notes outright name four new locations for Season 6: Floating Island, Corrupted Areas, Corn Fields, Haunted Castle. However, the notes also advise players to “drop in and find the rest in-game,” so there’s bound to be plenty more. Take a look at the new-look map above.

The other major new addition that arrives with Season 6 is Pets. As you might have guessed, this feature allows you to play the game with a little critter joining you on your journey. There’s also a new consumable called Shadow Stones.

The latest updated also throws the Impulse Grenade, Suppressed Submachine Gun, Light Machine Gun, Bouncer, and Remote Explosives into the Vault. However, these weapons and items are available to use in Playgrounds. Take a look at the full Fortnite update 6.0 patch notes here.

Fortnite Season 6 Update Out Now, Servers Live

[Update] The servers are now back online and Season 6 of Fortnite has begun. [Original Story] The next season of the popular battle royale game kicks off on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile today and it’ll arrive alongside the release of the game’s 6.0 update. The Fortnite servers have been taken offline so that developer Epic Games can issue the new patch and get the season rolling.

As previously revealed on Twitter, Fortnite servers will be down from 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST while Epic rolls out the game’s 6.0 update. The developer didn’t provide an estimate for how long this downtime will last; previous maintenance periods have typically run between one and two hours, though the timing could vary, particularly as patch 6.0 will presumably make some rather significant changes to the game.

Once the servers return, players will be able to officially dive into Season 6. We still don’t quite know what to expect from the new season. Epic hasn’t revealed many concrete details about it, but the developer has been dropping a series of teaser images that feature what are likely to be some of the new skins players will be able to acquire. On Monday, Epic showed off a robotic llama; Tuesday’s teaser featured an outlaw; and the most recent image depicted a werewolf.

All of the teaser images are also set against the infamous purple cube, suggesting it will continue to play some sort of role in Season 6. The mysterious object first appeared in the game back in August, after a lightning storm struck the desert. Shortly after that, it began slowly rolling around the island until it eventually came to Loot Lake last week. Much to players’ surprise, the cube plunged into the lake, turning the entire body of water purple and bouncy.

Epic typically makes some fairly big changes to Fortnite’s map at the start of each season, so other areas are likely to receive an overhaul when Season 6 finally arrives. The developer also offers a new Battle Pass to purchase during each season. Epic hasn’t yet provided any details about Season 6’s Battle Pass, but these typically cost 950 V-Bucks–Fortnite’s in-game currency–and can be leveled up throughout the entire season to unlock new skins, cosmetic items, and other rewards.

Fortnite Update 6.0 Patch Notes: Pets, New Island Areas, Vaulted Weapons, And More

Fortnite Season 6 is finally here and, alongside it, developer Epic Games is rolling out patch 6.00 for the game. The arrival of a new season means there’s new Battle Pass content to unlock, as well as some changes to the game world and how you play the wildly popular battle royale title. To give us a complete breakdown of everything new or changing with the latest update, Epic has released the Fortnite 6.0 patch notes, which you can read below.

The headliner is the new Battle Pass, which delivers 100 levels and over 100 new rewards, according to Epic. It is available to purchase in-game for 950 V-Bucks. You can also choose to just stick to the free Battle Pass, but some challenges and reward are exclusive to the paid tier. The other big new addition is Pets, which allow you to adventure around the island with an adorable friend by your side. Beyond those new additions, Epic has also introduced a consumable called Shadow Stones and updated the map with new locations such as the Floating Island, Corn Fields, and Haunted Castle.

In terms of weapons, the Impulse Grenade, Suppressed Submachine Gun, Light Machine Gun, Bouncer, and Remote Explosives have all been thrown into the Vault. However, all of the weapons and items added to the Vault as part of patch v6.0 are available to use in Playgrounds for now. Take a look at the full patch notes below to see what else is going on with the battle royale mode. You can find details on how patch 6.0 impacts the Save The World mode here.

In related news, Sony surprised everyone by announcing that PS4 cross-play is finally happening. For select third-party games, players on PS4 will be able to connect with people on other platforms. Fortnite happens to be one of these games, and a beta for cross-play is available now. Fortnite will allow for “gameplay, progression, and commerce” across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Mac, Android, iOS.

“We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution,” John Kodera, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, previously said. “We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.”
