Monster Hunter Movie Will Have ‘Bloody Big Monsters,’ Says Director

Back in May, we learned that Capcom’s popular RPG, Monster Hunter, will be making its big screen debut with Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich cast in the leading role. Also attached to the project is Jovovich’s husband, Paul W.S. Anderson (Event Horizon), who will direct the live-action adaptation.

While speaking with Anderson about his upcoming YouTube original sci-fi horror series, Origin, the director shed some light on the Monster Hunter film and what we can expect to see when it hits theaters. “There are some bloody big monsters in it, I can tell you that, Anderson said, adding, “we have some very very big monsters.”

Marvel’s The Eternals Lands Director

It looks like the upcoming Marvel film The Eternals has found its director in Chloé Zhao.

This news comes from Variety, which reports that Zhao’s meeting with executives at Marvel impressed them so much that they acted quickly to book her as director before she became tied up in other films. Zhao is known for directing The Rider, a critically acclaimed western drama that won the Art Cinema Award at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for four Spirit Awards.

Reports show that cousins Matthew and Ryan Firpo are writing the script and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is on board to produce. Created by Jack Kirby, The Eternals are an ancient race created by the cosmic Celestials who performed genetic experiments on early humans, effectively creating the first super-humans. This also created evil counterparts known as Deviants.

Child’s Play Reboot: First Look at the New Chucky

More details on the upcoming Child’s Play reboot have been revealed, alongside the first image of the horror film’s killer doll.

The upcoming film, simply titled Child’s Play, seems to follow a plot similar to the 1988 original. In the reboot, a mother named Karen (played by Aubrey Plaza) gives her son Andy (played by Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll, though both aren’t aware of its evil nature.

The film also stars Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry as Mike, and though this character’s full name hasn’t been revealed, Detective Mike Norris was the name of the homicide police detective attached to solving the mysterious murders committed by Chucky in the original Child’s Play. Karen and Andy were also the names of the mother and son used in the first film.

What Happens To Blackout When the Next Call of Duty Comes Out?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 isn’t out yet, but the next Call of Duty after it is only 13 months away.

That’s not based on any industry leaks or insider info, it’s just an assumption that’s about as safe to make as “the sun will rise tomorrow.” It’s also a thought that was hanging over my head like a raincloud while I played the PC beta of the Blackout battle royale mode this past weekend.

I seriously enjoyed Blackout, far more than I expected to. It’s one of the most refined battle royales I’ve played, rooted squarely in Call of Duty’s FPS core instead of the survival games Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds finds its lineage in. You can check out our more detailed impressions from the beta here, and while I had a ton of fun during it, I have my doubts about whether or not being ‘fun’ will be enough.

Is Thanos the Key to Marvel’s Eternals Movie?

Even with all the characters introduced in the first decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these movies have barely scratched the surface of what’s out there. And it looks like Phase 4 of the MCU is adding at least one major new franchise: The Eternals. We’ve met Thanos, but what about the rest of his people?

Reports indicate that The Rider director Chloe Zhao will direct Marvel’s The Eternals. So while we wait to learn more about Marvel’s plans for Avengers 4 and beyond, here’s everything you need to know about the Eternals and how they fit into the grand scheme of the Marvel Universe.

The Eternals: The Basics

The Eternals are a powerful race of cosmic beings who have existed in our solar system for millions of years. While most Eternals look perfectly human on the outside, their advanced biology gives them incredible strength, long lives and powers that set them far above mortal men.

PlayStation on If More Games Will Be Added to PS Classic Post-Launch

With the PlayStation Classic’s reveal earlier this week came the confirmation of five of the 20 games to be included in the nostalgic console, as well as what players would be getting for the $99.99 price point.

Still, some questions lingered about functionality for the system, and how it might differ from what we’ve seen in Nintendo’s NES and SNES Classic mini consoles. Speaking to IGN via email, a PlayStation spokesperson confirmed that, similarly to those consoles, the initial launch lineup will be the full catalogue for the PlayStation Classic.

“There are no plans to bring new content to PlayStation Classic post-launch,” a PlayStation spokesperson said.

Fortnite Offering A Ton More XP This Weekend Ahead Of Season 6

We’re less than a week away from the start of Fortnite‘s next season. Developer Epic has now confirmed Season 6 of its popular battle royale game begins next Thursday, September 27, giving you only a few more days to unlock any remaining rewards from Season 5. To help you accomplish that, the studio is offering a special bonus all players can take advantage of for a limited time.

All this weekend, Epic is rewarding players with considerably more XP than usual in Fortnite. From now until September 24, players will receive an additional 400% Match XP when playing Battle Royale mode. The bonus XP event will only run until 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET / 1 PM BST on Monday, so you don’t have much time to take advantage of it, but it’s the perfect opportunity to level up your Season 5 Battle Pass and unlock a few more rewards before Season 6 arrives.

Season 5 is scheduled to wrap up the following day, September 25, making this the last chance you have to complete any remaining challenges. Epic rolled out 10 weekly batches of missions throughout Season 5, plus 10 Road Trip challenges–Season 5’s equivalent of Blockbuster challenges–that could only be completed by finishing all of the tasks within a given week. If you still need help completing any of the challenges, you can find tips for each in our Fortnite Season 5 challenge roundup.

We still don’t quite know what to expect from Season 6, but some strange events have been happening in Fortnite in the lead up to the new season. Back in August, a mysterious purple cube appeared on the map after a lightning bolt emerged from the giant rift in the sky and struck the desert. Epic hasn’t officially acknowledged the cube, but players quickly discovered it would react differently depending on how they interacted with it.

More recently, the cube began slowly rolling around the island. Fans had many theories as to where the cube was heading, but earlier this week, it sank into Loot Lake, turning the entire lake purple and bouncy. It’s still unclear how this will relate to Season 6, but with the new season just around the corner, everything should be revealed in only a few days.
