The Americans’ Matthew Rhys Wins First Emmy Award

As The Americans celebrates its final season at the Emmys, leading actor Matthew Rhys earned his first ever Emmy Award.

Rhys took home the award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. He took to the stage and thanked The Americans’ showrunners, creative team and cast, as well as FX CEO John Landgraf and Amblin Television. But most significantly, he thanked his on-screen and real-life partner Keri Russell.

“To the woman who truly got me this award and who stands in front of my every day and puts up with me — she said if you propose to me I will punch you clean in the mouth. I don’t have the words, I don’t have the time, neither of which would do you justice Keri, but thank you, more to come,” said Rhys to close out his acceptance speech.

Better Call Saul: “Something Stupid” Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow…

“I don’t need to be a lawyer, I’m a magic man.”

“Something Stupid” (a nice bookend title to “Something Beautiful”) was a huge transitional episode that not only sped us through months – during a split screen intro that may require a second viewing to catch all the little fun morsels – but it also worked to create more distance between Jimmy and Kim in their relationship. We know these two weren’t destined to be together, but the question the show has to answer is “How does everything fall apart?”

Well, there was no big blow up or massive turning point, they just sort of let time and lack of true honest communication erode away at the already fragile bond between them. Kim’s choice to join Schweikart and Cokely left Jimmy without a clear and organized vision board, and a muddled goal. The cell phone hustle is still a means to an end, with Jimmy becoming a big time lawyer sitting in an office designed to impress and overwhelm, but is he doing it now to woo Kim back into the fold or does he want to sort of rub it in her face and show her that he can thrive right under everyone’s noses again? Like he did back when he worked in the mail room.

Teddy Perkins Showed up to the Emmys and We’re Confused

At the 2018 Emmys, there was a surprise cameo in the form of one Teddy Perkins, from Season 2 of FX’s Atlanta.

Darius (Lakeith Stanfield), meets the eccentric recluse while looking to purchase a classic piano. Perkins’ strange appearance and mannerisms had many fans wondering who was underneath all of that makeup. Shortly after the episode aired, we learned that it was none other than series creator Donald Glover.

While we won’t spoil all of the crazy scenarios that Darius and Teddy get into in that particular episode, it appears that the strange character made his way to TV’s most prestigious night. Once again, social media is wondering who might be playing Teddy this time around. Is Donald reprising his role or is it someone new?

There Was Just a Proposal at the 2018 Emmys

The award for first (and best) Emmy Awards proposal goes to… Oscars director Glenn Weiss!

There were a couple moments during the 2018 Emmys’ acceptance speeches where it felt like winners were close to proposing to their significant others as they expressed their thanks and adoration, but the man behind this year’s Academy Awards went the whole nine yards.

You can watch the whole moment play out below:

Destiny 2: Forsaken – New Corrupted Strike Full Run Gameplay

Destiny 2: Forsaken’s Raid, Last Wish, finally came online recently, 10 days after launch. Despite the wait, it still took teams quite a bit of time to complete it–nearly a full day, which is long by Raid standards. But with a World’s First being named, all players have received new content. It appears defeating the Raid boss, Riven, was part of its objective, releasing a curse. Fortunately, that means new things to do–there are additional bounties, a new Gambit map, and a new Strike. You can check out the new Strike in its entirety above; it’s accessed from the Dreaming City and carries a Power level recommendation of 500.

Ranking Halloween Horror Nights’ 10 Mazes by Scariness

Universal Studios Orlando’s annual fright-fest known as Halloween Horror Nights kicked off this year with 10 mazes full of grisly sights and costumed “scareactors.” Half of the mazes are based on popular horror IP such as Stranger Things and Poltergeist, while the rest are original creations born from the twisted minds of the HHN maze designers. IGN attended opening night and came away both with long-lasting psychological scars from being traumatized by scare after scare for hours on end, and with a ranking of just how scary each maze was.

Destiny 2’s Iron Banner Event Returns, But With A Few Changes

Bungie has announced details regarding the return of Iron Banner in Destiny 2. The multiplayer mode starts September 18 at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST and resets with new challenges and rewards on September 25. There are a few changes this time around you’ll have to watch out for.

The biggest change in Iron Banner is that Power level now matters. On Bungie’s website, this new Iron Banner is described as “an arms race” between you and the other players you’ll be facing off against, so you’ll need to equip your most powerful weapons and gear to hold your own and earn the new rewards. Iron Banner will also offer seven weekly bounties from now on, with each mission having a chance of yielding an Iron Banner-themed reward. Each week, two of the bounties will have a chance of dropping Powerful rewards to improve your Power level if you’re struggling with the competitive multiplayer component.

Lord Saladin is also back with five new pieces of armor and two new weapons for purchase, which reset with each new Iron Banner event. Each of the seven items that Lord Saladin sells are associated to one of the seven bounties, and you’ll have to complete an item’s corresponding bounty mission to unlock its availability for purchase. This way, if the item you want doesn’t drop, you can just buy it after the mission is over.
