Castle Rock’s Anticlimactic Season 1 Finale Disappoints

Warning: FULL SPOILERS follow for the Castle Rock Season 1 finale, titled “Romans.”

Hulu’s Castle Rock had a difficult task in its first season to create a compelling new narrative, while also adhering to the worldbuilding guidelines laid out by Stephen King’s numerous bestselling novels. If you’re telling a story in the Kingverse, it had better feel like one of author’s stories, and for most of the season, creators Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason accomplished their mission with few missteps. Sadly, the show doesn’t stick the landing in the Season 1 finale, titled “Romans.”

Castle Rock was at its best this season when it found ways to balance its excellent character development with all of the Kingian jargon about schismas, the Voice of God and alternate realities. Episode 7, “The Queen,” was a prime example of everything neatly coming together, as the writers crafted a poignant story about a time-traveling superhero named Ruth (Sissy Spacek). For a deeper look into the finale and what it all means, check out the video below.

Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair Should Be Fighting Inside a Cell

We’re just a few delicate days away from WWE’s Hell in Cell “Pay Per View Event Streaming Exclusively on the WWE Network” and while everyone’s buzzing about Braun Strowman’s new stable, the Dogs of War (*chef kiss*), and his use of the entire RAW heel roster (his “Pack?”), and the fact that newly-permed Mick Foley will be the special guest ref for Braun’s Cell match with Roman Reigns, it’s easy to forget that there’s a second Cell match on the card.

Ideally, Hell in a Cell would only feature one Cell match, but with the brand split you can understand the need for other folks (from the over-shadowed Blue Brand) to get a chance to air their grievances inside Ol’ Celly. Having one Cell match, though, allows for it to feel a teensy bit more special while relieving some of the pressure to out-do and out-wow not only previous years, but also the other big Cell match on the same card.

Spider-Man’s Tombstone Villain Explained

The superhuman mob enforcer known as Tombstone has made life tough for Spider-Man for decades. While a recurring player in the Spider-Man comics for the past 30 years, Tombstone isn’t necessarily the most well-known member of Spidey’s rogues gallery. But he is one of the scarier villains Peter Parker has faced.

Here’s everything you need to know about the ruthless villain known as Tombstone.

Tombstone Explained: The Basics

With all the colorful characters vying for control of New York’s criminal underworld in the Marvel Universe, it takes a special breed of gangster to stay competitive. That’s never been an issue for Lonnie Lincoln. A rough upbringing molded him into one of the most feared killers in the city, one who more than justifies the nickname “Tombstone.” Even the most powerful crime lords in New York like Kingpin and The Hood recognize Tombstone’s talent for getting the job done and sending his enemies cowering into the night. After all, it takes a special breed of fighter to go up against the Amazing Spider-Man and walk away unscathed.
