Niantic has announced that more generation three Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go, including a new Legendary.
In a post on Pokemon Go’s official site, Niantic announced that “several Flying- and Dragon-type Pokemon” will start to spawn in the game beginning tomorrow. While Niantic didn’t name all of the specific Pokemon included in this set, an image on the site showed off Beldum, Chimecho, Pelipper, Bagon, Salamence, Tropius, Taillow, Swablu, and Altaria.
In addition to this set of Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza will also begin appearing in raid battles tomorrow and will remain in the game until March 16.
The first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story was finally released this week, and while didn’t disappoint, it was also fairly light on story details. But Entertainment Weekly has now revealed a little more about what we can expect from the upcoming Star Wars spin-off, as well as showcasing some new images.
Director Ron Howard explained that much of the movie would focus on the relationship between Solo and his trusty Wookiee co-pilot Chewbacca. “To me, this is a love story between Han and Chewie,” he said. “Their relationship has always been my favorite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy.”
EW also revealed that original Han Solo actor Harrison Ford was a secret advisor on the movie. Ford read the script an at early stage of pre-production and met with actor Alden Ehrenreich, who plays the young Han in the movie. “What [Ford] did so beautifully for Alden was he talked a lot about what he remembered when he first read Star Wars, and what George had done with Han,” Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy said.
“Who the character was, and the conversations he had for so many years with George [Lucas] about how that character developed. He gave Alden that kind of insight which was invaluable. There were several times in the course of making the movie where Alden would actually recount some of the things that Harrison had pointed out. I think that was really, really helpful to him.”
We also now know a little more about the new character Qi’Ra, played by Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke. The character was a close friend of Solo’s when they were much younger, but Clarke hinted the older character we meet in the movie has some secrets.
“The whole way through, she is surviving,” she said. “And surviving in the underworld that we know to be [filled with] smuggling, aloof gamblers, wrong-side-of-the-tracks nasty ones. If you have got a really glamorous lady in a really sordid environment you kind of know that maybe the glamour is hiding a few rough roads.”
Solo: A Star Wars Story also stars Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Donald Glover as Lando, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It hits theaters on May 25, 2018. Check out GameSpot’s full Solo trailer breakdown here.
In related news, it was also announced this week that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will write and produce a new series of Star Wars movies. Disney confirmed that these films will be separate from the current Skywalker saga and the trilogy of movies that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is working on. “David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
Deadpool 2 will be a bigger and more action heavy sequel, according to Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Liefeld teased what fans can expect from the upcoming film, comparing Deadpool 2 to the beloved second installment in the Alien franchise, 1986’s Aliens. According to Liefeld, while the first Deadpool is more like the original Alien movie, the sequel, like Aliens, ups the ante in a major way.
“Deadpool was Alien,” Liefeld said. “It’s brilliant. It completely works. It’s a masterpiece. Deadpool 2 is Aliens. It’s when James Cameron came in and said, ‘OK you want me to do this? We’re going to make it bigger, put in loads more action.'”
Overwatch’s Lunar New Year event, Year of the Dog, has been announced, with over 50 seasonal items and six new legendary skins to look forward to. But more details have come to light after the patch notes were leaked, revealing the legendary skins for Mercy and Geni – which we already knew about – as well as Zarya and Widowmaker.
The details were posted on Reddit after the patch notes were mistakenly put on the official Overwatch website ahead of time.
Niantic is rolling out a new update for Pokemon Go very soon. Beginning February 9, players will be able to catch even more Pokemon originally from Ruby and Sapphire in the mobile game, while the Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza will be available for a limited time.
From February 9 to March 16, players will be able to encounter the powerful Dragon-type Pokemon as a Raid Battle at Gyms. Rayquaza is the third Legendary Pokemon from Gen 3 thus far, following Groudon (which was available from December-January) and the current Legendary Kyogre.
In addition to Rayquaza, Niantic is introducing another new wave of Hoenn Pokemon to Go. This wave consists primarily of Flying- and Dragon-types, such as Salamence, Altaria, Tropius, and Metagross. The previous batch of Gen 3 Pokemon included a number of Ground-types like Flygon, Aggron, and Camerupt.
With the new update, more than 100 Gen 3 Pokemon are now available in Pokemon Go. To celebrate the milestone, every Pokemon that players encounter in the wild from February 9-13 will originate from the Hoenn region. Niantic is also offering special boxes that include Raid Passes, Incubators, and Star Pieces from the in-game store until February 23.

Metal Gear Survive’s first beta took place back in January on PS4 and Xbox One, and let players drop into two maps with three missions for co-op mode. Konami has announced a second beta, to take place over the weekend of February 16, and this time, PC players have been invited to the party.
You can join the fray when the beta kicks off on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, on February 16. It wraps up on February 18.
As with the last beta, there will be three missions across two maps in co-op mode that can support up to four players online. Special daily missions will also be available.
Players can earn an in-game bonus for the full release once they’ve created their character. As with the last beta, the participation rewards are a FOX HOUND name plate, a Metal Gear Rex head accessory, and a bandanna accessory.
Since the release of the Switch in March last year, Nintendo has released some big hits when it comes to first party games. But as well as big name franchises like Mario and Zelda, the eShop is fit to bursting with indie titles and ports that are perfect for the home console/ handheld hybrid. In fact, as of December, the Switch had three times as many games as the Wii U did at the same point after its own release, and double that of the Wii.
Kotaku crunched the numbers based on data from Metacritic, and their analysis shows that both the Wii U and the Wii had a fairly lethargic release rate, whereas the Switch has a significantly more sprightly output by comparison.
Need For Speed Payback’s Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR should have rolled out in December’s update as part of the new Abandoned Cars feature, but was delayed due to a bug. This wasn’t met with much understanding, and the developers have addressed the community’s ire, calling out inappropriate behavior, and responding to claims that the game is dead by assuring fans that “the active player base is healthy.”
