Jason Momoa Confirms His Buddy Cop Movie With Dave Bautista Is Happening

Dave Bautista recently pitched a Lethal Weapon-style buddy cop movie with himself and Jason Momoa in the lead roles. This took off on social media, but many were wondering if it was just a pie in the sky idea or if it might actually happen. Well, Momoa has now said plans may actually be in place to make this movie. Speaking to James Corden, Momoa said it’s “off to the races” for the untitled new film.

Momoa is not on Twitter, but Bautista texted him with his idea–and it didn’t take long, apparently, to get the ball rolling.

“He literally texted me about four days ago going, ‘We need to do a buddy cop film.’ We love each other; we met on See. We’re on Dune together. I said, ‘Absolutely.’ He’s like, ‘Let’s do it in Hawaii.’ And I’m like, ‘Let’s do it, I’m like, I’ve got an idea.’ So it’s off to the races now. We’re doing it.”

The movie pitch sells itself, Momoa said. “It sells itself. Dave loves wearing Speedos, I love wearing board shorts, both of us with our shirts off. Buddy cop film. He’ll be grumpy and I’ll be charming. Boom–it sells itself,” he said. “I’ve got the hair, he doesn’t have hair. We’ve covered all the demographics.”

In his tweet, Bautista said he would want Davie Leitch to direct the buddy cop film, but whether or not that happens remains to be seen. Leitch directed Deeadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw, and he has multiple projects in the works right now such as the star-studded Bullet Train and Fast and Loose starring Will Smith.

NHL 22 Gameplay Reveal Coming Thursday

EA Sports will reveal the first gameplay footage for NHL 22 this Thursday, August 26, the developer has announced. Ahead of that, you can check out the teaser below that shows off some of the professional hockey game’s improved graphics and animations. In particular, the ice seems to shine brighter and look crisper for this year’s game, while the animations look quite smooth.

NHL 22 is the first game in the series to run on the Frostbite engine, and this applies to both the PS5/Xbox Series X|S edition and the last-gen version.

NHL 22 was recently announced by EA Sports. It features Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews on the cover again after he last appeared on NHL 20’s cover. Outside of the upgrade to Frostbite, NHL 22 also adds X-Factor abilities for the league’s best players, borrowing an idea from Madden.

NHL 22 launches worldwide on October 15. There is the standard edition and the X-Factor Edition, which comes with dual entitlement to the game across generations of consoles. The premium edition also unlocks three days early (October 12) and comes with HUT packs.

Bungie’s 30th Anniversary Store Looks Amazing

Bungie is celebrating its 30th anniversary right now with a range of commemorative merchandise, but it’s the store page’s retro splash artwork that really caught our attention. The faux-webpage takes fans back not quite 30 years, but to the earliest days of Bungie’s web presence, with a 1997-era Bungie Store.

The webpage directs customers to place their orders through fax, phone, mail or email, with listings for compact discs, hats, posters, t-shirts, and Bungie’s iconic 90s-era game bundle, the Mac Action Sack (selling for a bargain of $777,777.77). Wrapped in classic 90s web design, the splash page is full of lovely little easter eggs for retro gamers–sadly none of the links are actually functional though, clicking on any of the links will take you straight to the actual store page.

The actual sale sadly isn’t offering the Mac Action Pack, but you can grab yourself a range of commemorative clothing, a poster, water bottle, mug, or a selection of pins.

Destiny 2 players will be receiving a 30th anniversary gift from Bungie free of charge, when the 30th anniversary pack drops. The pack includes a new pirate-themed dungeon, a Thorn-inspired armor set, and more items and cosmetics themed after Bungie and its various titles.

The Matrix: Resurrections Title Confirmed, Trailer Details Revealed

The next Matrix movie is titled The Matrix: Resurrections. The title was announced alongside the first trailer for the upcoming film at CinemaCon, the annual convention for the National Association of Theatre Owners in Las Vegas.

The Matrix: Resurrections is the fourth movie in the sci-fi series, and it hits theaters and HBO Max on December 22. While this is the first official confirmation of the movie’s title, it had been rumored for several months. Back in February, a Reddit user leaked a video allegedly posted by a makeup artist on the movie that revealed that the title was The Matrix: Resurrections.

As for the trailer, although it hasn’t been released to the public yet, reports have filtered back about what it contains from those lucky enough to have seen it at CinemaCon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer opens with Thomas Anderson/Neo (Keanu Reeves) living back in the “real” world, with no knowledge that the simulation of the Matrix exists. He discusses experiencing strange dreams with a therapist played by Neil Patrick Harris, and encounters Trinity (Carrie Anne Moss) in a coffee shop–but neither have any memory of the other. Anderson meets a man, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who gives Anderson a red pill. From there the trailer delivers various spectacular-sounding action scenes, including Neo stopping missiles with his mind and he and Trinity jumping between skyscrapers.

The Matrix: Resurrections also stars Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, Underwater), Ellen Hollman (Spartacus), Jonathan Groff (Mindhunter), Priyanka Chopra (We Can Be Heroes), and Daniel Bernhardt (Birds of Prey). It’s directed by Lana Wachowski, who co-directed the previous three movies with her sister Lilly.

Multiple Leaks Suggest December Halo: Infinite Release Date [Updated]

Update: The Verge has now reported that its sources say a December 8 release date for Halo Infinite is correct, and that both campaign and multiplayer will be released simultaneously.

Whilst Xbox still hasn’t officially confirmed a release date for Halo Infinite, multiple leaks suggest that the game will be released on December 8. Before reading on, here’s your healthy reminder that any and all leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Twitter user Idle Sloth recently shared a screenshot from a Taiwanese online shopping site that suggests the game will be released on December 8. The tweet does, however, point out that the listing states that Forge mode will be in the game from launch. 343 Industries recently said that Forge mode, alongside campaign co-op for Halo Infinite, would be delayed until after launch.

With incorrect details surrounding Forge mode, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the leak was in fact misinformed. However, a Microsoft Store listing spotted on Twitter by Microsoft and Xbox games leaker Alumia_Italia also seems to corroborate a December 8 release.

In a follow-up tweet, the user explained that the store listing for Halo Infinite has been live since August 26 last year and stated that it had recently been updated with the new release date, description, and screenshots. If true, it is unclear for how long the listing presented the captured information. At time of writing, Halo Infinite’s UK, US, and AU Microsoft Store pages list a placeholder release date of December 31.

Xbox refrained from giving fans a release date for Halo Infinite during its recent Gamescom 2021 Livestream. The company did announce some good holiday news, however, revealing to fans that the Xbox Series X/S and the Xbox One will be getting cloud gaming later this year. Halo Infinite’s inclusion on Game Pass means that it will be just one of many games available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream through their consoles in the future.

Final Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster Release Date Announced for PC and Mobile

Square Enix has announced that its 2D Pixel Remaster of Final Fantasy 4 will release for PC and mobile platforms on September 8.

Launching for Steam and mobile platforms, Final Fantasy 4’s Pixel Remaster will feature a number of small tweaks and improvements over its predecessor. The title’s 2D pixel graphics have been redrawn for modern hardware whilst its iconic soundtrack has been rearranged for the modern remake. Work on the soundtrack is said to have been overseen by Nobuo Uematsu himself.

Gameplay in FF4’s Pixel Remaster has seen improvements too. The remake will utilize updated controls for controller players, a more contemporary UI, and auto-battle options to make combat that little bit smoother. Square Enix also says that it has included a number of quality-of-life improvements in the game, which range from supplemental extras like a bestiary, to the inclusion of a music player and the ability to save in-game at any time.

PC players who pre-order Final Fantasy 4 will get a 20% discount in addition to two limited wallpapers and three specially rearranged remixed tracks from the series: The Red Wings, Battle 2, and Final Fantasy 4’s Main Theme.

Final Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster follows the launch of re-releases for the first three games in the series, which debuted on July 28. Square Enix is set to release further remasters for Final Fantasy 5 and Final Fantasy 6 in the future though release dates for those titles are yet to be confirmed.

Following their July release, fans of the series were quick to add their own tweaks to the pixel remasters of Final Fantasy 1 – 3. After many fans were quick to point out the game’s questionable choice in font, modders working on the game have come up with multiple ways to fix it. Solutions range from modifying font files in the game’s directory to switching out the title’s Japanese and English default font styles. In both cases, the fixes offer a far more sightly and accessible typeface for players to use during their time with the game.

If you’re currently delving into Final Fantasy’s Pixel Remasters, make sure to check out this article detailing 7 things you (probably) didn’t know about Final Fantasy 1 through 3.

Agatha from WandaVision Is Joining Disneyland’s Halloween Party

Agatha, everyone’s favorite nosy neighbor from WandaVision, will be joining a host of other villains at Disneyland later this year for Halloween-themed festivities.

A new short trailer for Disneyland’s Halloween Party, the Oogie Boogie Bash, was released on its official Instagram page recently, and it shows off three new villains who will be debuting at the event. WandaVision’s Agatha appears to have caught the eye of many fans, however, she will seemingly also be joined by appearances from Toy Story’s Sid and the live-action version of Cruella DeVil. The trailer was subsequently shared on Twitter by Scott Gustin, and it can be seen below:

The Oogie Boogie Bash is set to return to Disneyland California among a range of other spooky festivities across select nights in September and October. Disney describes the event as a “separately ticketed, Halloween spooktacular that includes after-hours park access to treat trails, photo opportunities, entertainment, attractions, décor, and more.”

Agatha’s inclusion in the Oogie Boogie Bash marks another stepping stone for Disneyland’s integration of the MCU into its theme parks. In June, following delays caused by the global pandemic, Disneyland California opened its Avengers Campus for the first time.

The immersive Campus opened with featured areas focusing on a wide array of characters from across the MCU and a new Spider-Man-themed ride called Web Slingers. Avengers Campus also grants fans of the MCU the opportunity to encounter a range of Marvel stars including Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, and more.

If you’d like to find out more about Disney’s Avengers campus, make sure to check out our review of Web Slingers, where we said that the all-ages-based Spider-Man attraction was neither a great ride nor a great game, but sure to be a young spider-fan pleaser.

PS5 And Xbox Series X Consoles Available At Walmart

Walmart’s latest PS5 and Xbox Series X restock for is live now. Both consoles are available as standalone purchases and cost $500 each. If you’re looking for the Xbox Series S, both Amazon and the Microsoft Store have the $300 console in stock right now. now

Each time Walmart has announced a PS5 and Xbox Series X restock ahead of time, units have (unsurprisingly) sold out very quickly. Often times, Walmart refreshes stock every 10 minutes, likely to help reduce strain on servers and to fight off bots. That said, you still have to be fast (and lucky). Walmart did recently alter its system to make you press and hold the purchase button to try to combat bots, though. The listings will update to “sold out” once all of Walmart’s stock is gone.

Though the PS5 and Xbox Series X have been available for more than nine months, it remains a challenge to secure either console. We’ve been tracking PS5 and Xbox Series X restocks since the preorder stage roughly a year ago. In recent weeks, we’ve seen multiple restocks for both consoles, though it’s not uncommon for the consoles to be sold as pricey bundles. This detail makes the standalone console restocks even more difficult to score.

Borderlands Movie: Krieg Won’t Be ‘Exactly the Same’ As Video Game Character

Borderlands star Florian Munteanu has spoken about how his movie version of Krieg will differ slightly from the character’s video game counterpart.

Munteanu, who has been cast as the psycho bandit in Eli Roth’s Borderlands movie, spoke to Screen Rant about how the game-to-film adaptation has handled his character, admitting that fans shouldn’t expect “exactly the same” from his portrayal of Krieg as they have observed while playing the video game, though he believes audiences will ultimately enjoy his take.

“I mean, the character Krieg is such a fan-favorite and I feel like what [fans] saw in the game, or what they are used to seeing in the game, they can’t expect exactly the same,” Munteanu explained. “I’m bringing my fighting style to the table as well as a humoristic way of playing the character. I think people will love it. But we’ll have to wait until next year for that.”

Krieg is one of the six playable characters in Borderlands 2. He’s from a bandit family and was treated rather unfairly by his mother for being weaker than the rest. This fuels him to grow stronger, but it’s not until he’s captured by Dr. Benedict that he becomes the Krieg of Borderlands 2. Dr. Benedict experiments on him and others, turning them into “Psychos.”

Krieg eventually breaks out of Dr. Benedict’s facility, kills him, and becomes a bit of a torn soul akin to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. One half of Krieg’s personality is that of a Psycho and the other is his former, more sane self. Eventually, Psycho Krieg takes over and that’s who we see in the game. Roth admitted Krieg was the most difficult character to cast in the movie.

“Florian brings real humanity and multiple layers to a character who on the surface seems totally insane and brutally savage,” Roth said previously. “Krieg was by far the most difficult role to cast, and Florian brought him to life and grounded him in a way that I didn’t know was possible. He’s going to be a brilliant Krieg and will fit in perfectly with our incredible cast.”

Munteanu features in the stacked cast for Borderlands: The Movie, due out in 2022, alongside Cate Blanchett’s Lilith, Jamie Lee Curtis’ Dr. Tannis, Jack Black’s Claptrap, Gina Gershon’s Moxxi, Janina Gavankar’s Commander Knox, Kevin Hart’s Roland, and Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist whom Krieg is in charge of protecting.
