Elizabeth Olsen Offers Support For Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow Lawsuit

Following the release of Black Widow to both theaters and Disney+ Premier Access, star Scarlett Johansson filed suit against the Walt Disney Company, claiming that the simultaneous release was a breach of contract causing her to lose millions of dollars. Now, fellow MCU star Elizabeth Olsen has offered her support for Johansson in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

“I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that, I was like, ‘Good for you Scarlett,'” the WandaVision star said during the interview. The interview, which focused on the move from movies to streaming shows, also included Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, and the two discuss a variety of topics around the issue at hand in Johansson’s suit–movies releasing simultaneously to theaters and streaming services. The actor said, though, that she’s “Not worried on Scarlett’s behalf… That’s all just contracts, so it’s either in the contract or it’s not.”

“I’m worried about small movies getting the opportunity to be seen in theaters. That was already a thing pre-COVID. I like going to the movies and I don’t necessarily want to see only an Oscar contender or a blockbuster. I would like to see art films and art house theaters. And so I do worry about that, and people having to keep these theaters alive,” Olsen said, suggesting that theaters may end up back in the hands of movie studios.

While Olsen doesn’t think WandaVision Season 2 is going to happen, she’s set to reprise the role of Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film, which once again stars Benedict Cumberbatch, is being directed by Sam Raimi and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 22, 2022.

You Need to Say Candyman Five Times to Watch the Final Trailer

With the film’s release date only a few days away, Universal Pictures has released the final trailer for Nia DaCosta’s upcoming slasher Candyman. However, there’s only one way to watch it on the film’s official website. To unlock the new trailer on IDareYou.CandymanMovie.com, a viewer must use their computer’s microphone and camera to summon Candyman by saying his name out loud five times.

As the trailers for the film would indicate, things usually don’t turn out well for those who summon Candyman into their presence. A swarm of bees begins to appear on-screen during the process, growing larger with each progressive iteration. If you don’t want to risk the killer appearing behind you, rest assured that the final trailer is composed of footage that has already been revealed.

Candyman is a direct sequel to the 1992 original of the same name. The film follows an artist and his girlfriend who move into a now-gentrified neighborhood that the supernatural killer Candyman once haunted. Once the two are exposed to the grim history of the area, they are drawn into the myth of Candyman as the community is thrown into violence.

Aquaman’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris star in Candyman, while Tony Todd and Vanessa Estelle Williams reprise their roles from the 1992 original. Jordan Peele serves as producer under his Monkeypaw Productions. Director DaCosta is already developing her follow-up to the slasher, as she has been tapped to helm The Marvels, the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel.

Candyman is set to hit theaters this Friday, August 27. For a sneak peek, check out this official clip of the movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Teaser Trailer Finally Revealed

The first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has finally been revealed, showing Peter Parker, Doctor Strange, and some other familiar faces.

The long-awaited trailer shows some of the fallout following Spider-Man: Far From Home and sees Peter Parker dealing with the whole world knowing he is actually Spider-Man.

The trailer also shows Parker going to see Doctor Strange and Wong in hopes they can help make the world forget his true identity. Despite Wong’s warning, Doctor Strange agrees to help Peter, but problems arise and they find themselves dealing with the dangers of the Multiverse. This results in us getting our first look at the return of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus.

While we don’t actually see him, we do get a little laugh from a voice that sounds very much like Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin alongside a green bomb. A spark of electricity seen in the footage could also signify the return of Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

What we get no hint of, however, is the return of either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, meaning they really won’t be returning or it will be a surprise (hopefully!) left for the movie.

This teaser trailer arrives after a low-resolution version of it apparently leaked onto social media platforms. The official Spider-Man: No Way Home Twitter poked a bit of fun at the unfortunate situation, saying that this was the “OFFICIAL HD teaser trailer.” They also gave a “shout-out to the real ones who are watching the trailer for the first time right now.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Has Finally Arrived

At long last, the wait is over. The time is finally here to see where Peter Parker’s journey goes to next. And of course, it’s headed across multiple universes. The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is here, and you can check it out below.

Arriving to theaters on December 17, the new trailer follows Peter Parker, and the world now knows that he’s Spider-Man–following the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Obviously, the reveal of his secret identity also effects the people around him. That’s where Doctor Strange comes in. Parker wants Strange to make the world forget Parker is Spider-Man. Somehow, the multiverse comes into play here, and that brings back some familiar Spidey villains from the past–the non-MCU past that is.

Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. From across the multiverse, Alfred Molina reprises his role as Otto Octavius from Spider-Man 2 and Jamie Foxx will play Max Dillon AKA Electro once again, reprising his role from Amazing Spider-Man 2.

There was a bit of a hiccup with the No Way Home trailer release, as it leaked. It was pulled from online, but if you got a chance to watch it, that means you saw a TikTok of someone’s phone playing it, while another phone recorded it. Needless to say, it was tough to make anything out. Luckily, you can watch the trailer above–again and again–without having to squint your eyes.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of three late-2021 MCU movie releases, arriving on December 17. The next movie hitting theaters is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which arrives on September 3–and you can check out our Shang-Chi review here. On November 5, The Eternals will debut, and the latest trailer gives us a better idea of what the movie is about.

Review Roundup For Marvel’s Shang Chi

It’s been way too long since the last Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. We’ve had Disney+ TV shows and the prequel Black Widow, but finally, the MCU’s Phase 4 really kicks off with Shang Chi.

The movie stars Simu Liu in the title role, as well as Awkwafina as his best friend Katy, Fala Chen as his sister Jiang Li, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung as his father Wenwu, Michelle Yeo as his aunt Ying Nan, and more. Shang Chi has to confront his past when the Ten Rings crime organization comes calling–and based on what critics are saying, the film sounds bonkers.

At the time of this writing, Shang Chi has an aggregate of 70 on Metacritic, based on 28 reviews. The site considers that “generally positive,” although there are some outliers in both directions. On Rotten Tomatoes, meanwhile, 60 reviews add up to a rating of 93%, which is firmly in the “Fresh” category.

Here’s a sampling from various reviews, as well as the trailer for good measure. Shang Chi hits theaters only on September 3, 2021.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

  • Directed by: Destin Daniel Cretton
  • Written by: Dave Callaham, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Andrew Lanham
  • Starring: Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Fala Chen, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung, Michelle Yeoh
  • Release Date: September 3, 2021

GameSpot – 8/10

“Even with its flaws, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a signal of the MCU’s increasing willingness to break out of the mold and to simply try new things.” – Mason Downey – [Full Review]

Entertainment Weekly – B+

“It seems important to acknowledge that the release of a movie as Marvel-massive as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (in theaters Sept. 3) marks a major step forward for Asian representation on screen. It also feels important to note that it is fun: a Technicolor whirlwind of a film whose explosive fight choreography and dense mythology are leavened by a sweet and surprisingly nimble script.” – Leah Greenblatt – [Full Review]

IGN – 8/10

“Director Destin Daniel Cretton skillfully connects Shang-Chi’s personal stakes with the larger MCU by way of an emotionally complex villain, a stellar cast with fantastic chemistry, and incredible action sequences.” – Francesca Rivera – [Full Review]

Los Angeles Times – unscored

“Although tailored to the usual Marvel specifications–apocalyptic stakes, bloodless casualties–this endgame also has a distinctly personal undercurrent that seems to transcend the parameters of this particular story.” – Justin Chang – [Full Review]

Slashfilm – 6.5/10

“As Marvel remixes go, Shang-Chi is one of the more successful ones. Maybe not as stylistically strong as Black Widow and certainly not as much of a watershed moment as Black Panther, it is elevated by the strength of its hard-hitting fight scenes and the supporting performers–especially the Tony Leung of it all.” – Hoai-Tran Bui – [Full Review]

Variety – unscored

“The result broadens the brand’s spectrum of representation once again, offering audiences of Asian descent the kind of empowerment for which Black Panther paved the way a few years back.” – Peter Debruge – [Full Review]

Slant – 1.5/4

“As per usual for the MCU, the final act devolves into loud and chaotic visual nonsense, with the Oedipal reckoning between Shang-Chi and Wenwu giving way to an incomprehensible conflagration of magical beasts and largescale warfare that only further emphasizes the lack of interest that the film has in its ostensibly probing human drama.” – Jake Cole – [Full Review]

Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Leaks, And It Was Quickly Removed

Over the weekend, the much anticipated Spider-Man No Way Home trailer leaked online and all traces of the trailer were swiftly taken down by Sony. The news was reported by The Hollywood Reporter who says the trailer seems legitimate.

Tom Holland, famously known for leaking Marvel movie news on social media in the past, seemingly reacted to the trailer leaking on his Instastory saying, “You aint ready!”

In reaction to the trailer leaking and traces of it being removed online, people took to Twitter creating Feige memes of what his reaction would be if he were to find the person who leaked the trailer to the third Spider-Man Marvel movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned. Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx will reprise their roles as Doctor Octopus and Electro from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 and Amazing Spider-Man 2, respectively.

Although rumors have circulated that Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield will also star in No Way Home, the actor spoke on the Happy Sad Confused podcast saying, “I recommend that you chill.”

No Way Home is scheduled to release in theaters on December 17.

Gamescom 2021 Xbox Stream: Start Times And How To Watch Tuesday’s Showcase

Gamescom kicks off this week, but before the all-digital gaming show begins with a look at several games through Geoff Keighley’s annual Opening Night Live event, Xbox will have a few updates of its own to share. The Xbox show will begin on Tuesday, August 24.

How to watch

The showcase will be streamed live on Xbox’s official channels in 1080p at 60fps across YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter. GameSpot will be providing extensive coverage of the event as well.

Start time

  • 10 AM PT
  • 1 PM ET
  • 6 PM BST
  • 3 AM AET (August 25)

What to expect

Microsoft says that its show will run for 90 minutes, and in a previous update, indicated that it’ll be focused on providing news on previously announced games coming to Xbox, upcoming releases on Xbox Game Pass, and more.

In terms of first-party games, more information on Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 could be revealed, although it’s unlikely that any of the other Xbox games that are in varying stages of early development will be seen.

Halo Infinite has had a transparent development process so far, and even with developer 343 Industries revealing that the game won’t have a co-op campaign mode or Forge when it launches, updates on a new release date and an upcoming beta could go over well with fans during Gamescom.

Details on what Bethesda could bring to the show remain vague at this time, although Microsoft did mention that Bethesda Germany will host its Mainstream stream over several days from August 26.

As for third-party games, the upcoming holiday season is drawing close and could see the likes of Far Cry 6, Battlefield 2042, and Call of Duty: Vanguard get fresh updates.

As an added bonus, numerous games for Xbox consoles and PC will be on sale for up to 75% off once the show has finished.

Gamescom takes place this year from August 26-27 after Opening Night Live, and other confirmed publishers include EA, Sega, and Activision so far.

Fortnite: Where To Find Books On Explosions

Fortnite Week 12 is staging Doctor Slone’s endgame, so she wants you to find books on explosions, since she plans on making quite a big explosion herself soon. You’ll need to find two books on explosions to complete this quest and while they’re not too far apart, they can be easy to overlook. Here are the locations for books on explosions in Fortnite.

Books On Explosions – Locations

With Doctor Slone putting together her countermeasure device, the island of Apollo may soon host a massive explosion. You’ll need to find both books on the subject to round out Slone’s understanding of what she’s going to do to the island. Two named locations, Dirty Docks and Steamy Stacks, each hold one book, and you can grab either one first.

If you drop into Dirty Docks first, look for the container yard in the center of the location. By the exit, you’ll see a dumpster. Right in front of that dumpster will be the first of two books on explosions. Interact with it to collect it. If you’re feeling brave enough, you can stay in the container yard and grab the docked flying saucer for quick transport to Steamy Stacks, but if you don’t get it, a car or the nearby zipline system will also get you there quickly.

The eastern coastline of Apollo houses two books on explosions.

Once you’re in Steamy Stacks, enter the grey and orange two-story building that rests at the end of the zipline. Just inside the door and under the stairs will be your other book on explosions. If this is where you decided to visit first, it’s just as convenient for getting to Dirty Docks. You can take the zipline, grab one of several cars, or try and get the UFO that’s sitting in the parking lot. You could even glide back up the power plant stacks that will send you floating south if you prefer.

Once you obtain both books on explosions, you’ll have another Week 12 challenge done and can refer to our guide for the remaining Week 12 challenges. Don’t forget they offer 100,000 additional XP thanks to the return of Wild Weeks.

Fortnite: Where To Destroy Target Dummies

Among the long list of Fortnite Week 12 challenges, you’ll be required to destroy target dummies with IO weapons. Doctor Slone is preparing for all all-out assault on the aliens, and her endgame is coming into view. Brush up on your training with this mission and prepare for the attack by using our guide, which will you show the target dummy locations in Fortnite.

Fortnite Target Dummies

The target dummies you’ll be looking for this week are conveniently near each other, but you’ll first need to collect an IO weapon, as destroying them with anything else won’t count. For this challenge, we recommend dropping into Defiant Dish, the satellite station east of Weeping Woods, and looking for one of the abundant IO weapons in the area. A Pulse Rifle would be best, but any IO weapon that does damage (note: not the Recon Scanner) will do.

From there, head into Weeping Woods and look for the lot of RVs that should be to your left when descending from Defiant Dish’s hilltop. When this quest is active, you’ll see two target dummies nearby. Shoot them to progress to the halfway point of this challenge, but you’ll need to destroy two more dummies.

Target dummies can be most conveniently found in Weeping Woods and Slurpy Swamp.
Target dummies can be most conveniently found in Weeping Woods and Slurpy Swamp.

Continue into Slurpy Swamp, south of Weeping Woods. Go past the road that always has a Slurp Juice truck parked on it and look directly into the woods nearby where you’ll see two more target dummies near a campfire. Shooting those two will complete the challenge for you and earn you 30,000 XP as part of the Week 12 challenges.

Remember, these dummies will not appear unless the related quest is active, so save the effort until you’re primed to complete the quest.

For more on Fortnite this week, don’t miss the two latest high-profile character skins: Wonder Woman from DC Comics and J Balvin from, well, Spotify, I guess.
