PS4’s Shadow Of The Colossus: Watch Us Play New Game Plus

This week marked the release of Bluepoint’s Shadow of the Colossus remake, bringing Team Ico’s PS2 masterpiece to a whole new generation of players. Despite originally launching 13 years ago, the game remains one of the most stunning achievements the industry has ever seen due to its simple, affecting story, beautiful soundtrack, and hauntingly vast world, and it looks even more breathtaking on PS4 thanks to the care Bluepoint took in modernizing the title for the current-gen hardware.

Shadow of the Colossus places players in the role of Wander, a young man who journeys into the Forbidden Lands in search of a way to bring his beloved back to life. He’s instructed by an omnipresent being known as Dormin to travel across the sprawling, desolate landscape and hunt down the 16 colossi that make their home there. Each colossus is a towering puzzle unto itself, and players must figure out how to scale the monolithic beings and spot their weak points in order to bring the giants down.

Despite the vast scope of the game, Shadow of the Colossus is a fairly brief adventure, running from eight to 10 hours on your first playthrough. Fortunately, the title also features a New Game Plus mode for those who want to continue adventuring in the Forbidden Lands. We checked out New Game Plus in a recent livestream, which you can watch above. In the video, we surf atop our horse as it gallops across the vast expanse of the Forbidden Lands and hunt down some of our favorite colossi in the game.

Shadow of the Colossus is available exclusively for PS4. You can learn more about the game and how it holds up in our Shadow of the Colossus review. For more gameplay footage of Shadow of the Colossus, check out our video of the game’s first five colossi. We also took a look at all of the new filters you can use in Shadow of the Colossus and explain just why the game remains a masterpiece, even 13 years after it first released.

MoviePass Surpasses 2 Million Subscribers

MoviePass has hit another major subscriber milestone.

The subscription service, which allows members to see one movie a day for $9.95 a month, has reached 2 million subscribers. This is less than a month after MoviePass reached 1.5 million subscribers, and seven weeks after hitting one million subscribers.

MoviePass has continued to gain new subscribers at a rapid rate since it lowered its monthly subscription fee from $50 to $9.95 this past August. In September of last year, the company projected to reach 2.5 million subscribers over the next 12 months.

Manufacturers feel a need to release a new model each and every year, despite the fact that TV technology actually progresses relatively slowly. That’s not a bad thing. I’m here to lay out the best deals that are currently available, and I’ll keep this page updated throughout the year.

13 Actors That Would Make A Great Movie Joker

It’s being reported that Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to play The Joker in a standalone movie that recounts the origin story of Batman’s greatest adversary. The project is being directed and co-written by Todd Phillips, who it’s believed is championing Phoenix for the part.

Is he the best option to play the Clown Prince of Crime, though? Several actors–from Heath Ledger to Jack Nicholson–have played the role in the past, each putting their own spin on it. While Phoenix would certainly give The Joker his all, GameSpot has come up with 13 alternatives that might also be a good fit for the iconic villain.

Activision Blizzard Earnings: People Spent Lots of Money Digitally

Activision Blizzard had its year-end call with investors today, revealing $7 billion in net revenue for its 2017 fiscal year. For the fourth quarter of the year, digital revenue accounted for $1.62 billion, over half of its total $2.64 billion for Q4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s Zombie Chronicles add-on was the number-one game add-on for Sony PlayStation 4, but “player investment in virtual goods and service” last year exceeded DLC for Call of Duty and Destiny.

That means things like Overwatch loot boxes, for example. The popularity of loot boxes and their revenue-generating possibilities has caused more than just investors to take notice. Belgium proposed banning loot boxes altogether across the European Union, and one state lawmaker in the United States also wants to limit the sale of loot boxes in Hawaii, his home state.
