Peter Parker has really come full circle in 2018. Where a year ago he was one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the Marvel Universe, now he’s back to being a broke, struggling, perpetually unloved loser. He’s gone from bankrolling the Avengers to being a loner again. If anything, the current volume of Amazing Spider-Man has oversold that transition a bit. Spider-Man is treated like a pariah in the superhero community for no real reason. Luckily, issue #8 takes full advantage of Peter’s outsider status as it establishes a new threat to the Marvel U.

The stakes in this issue are much higher than in the previous, Boomerang-focused storyline. An old enemy has returned in a new form, and Spider-Man is quite literally the only hero equipped to do something about it.

Harley Quinn’s Future Is Looking Goofy

The success of Old Lady Harley may depend largely on what you want out of this new miniseries. If you merely crave an extension of the main Harley Quinn book, one that features a similar tone and sense of humor but a radically different setting, then Old Lady Harley delivers the goods. But if you’re hoping for a somber reflection on Harley’s life and legacy a la Old Man Logan or The Dark Knight Returns, you may come away disappointed. It’s a fun read, but not one that runs as far with the premise as it could.

Building on the initial Old Lady Harley storyline form the main series, this spinoff takes a deeper dive into the alternate future DCU where Power Girl is President of the United States, Canada is overrun by poutine-loving zombies and Harley is a few decades older and exactly as weird. The big selling point this time around is that Harley and her faithful sidekick/Deadpool clone Red Tool have to hunt down Joker, who apparently managed to cheat death yet again.

Fight Alongside Bayek, Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Protagonist, In Odyssey

Ubisoft has announced that Bayek, the primary protagonist for Assassin’s Creed Origins, is now available as a Legendary lieutenant for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. He’s available as a Ubisoft Club reward and costs 40 Units.

In Odyssey, lieutenants can be assigned to sail with Kassandra/Alexios on their ship, the Adrestia. Assigned lieutenants provide certain perks for naval combat, talk to the Adrestia’s crew when the ship is docked, and join Kassandra/Alexios when boarding enemy vessels. The strength of a lieutenant’s perks and the amount of damage they can do in combat is determined by their rarity. Legendary is the strongest level, followed by Epic, Rare, and then Common.

Lieutenants can also serve another purpose. In Odyssey’s skill tree–under the Stealth branch–there’s an ability called “Call to Arms.” Equipping and using this skill allows Kassandra/Alexios to summon one of their lieutenants while on land. At its weakest level, this skill will cause summoned lieutenants to distract enemies so Kassandra/Alexios remain undetected. At its strongest, summoned lieutenants will kill enemies.

Bayek isn’t the first protagonist from a previous Assassin’s Creed game to be an Odyssey lieutenant. Evie, one of the protagonists from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, is also available as a Ubisoft Club reward. She too is a Legendary lieutenant, and she increases javelin damage by 9%, fire javelin damage by 15%, and–when the Adrestia has low health–all damage by 18%. She uses a spear in combat. If you upgrade the Adrestia, you can assign multiple lieutenants and sail with both Evie and Bayek.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

My Hero One’s Justice Versus Mode Gameplay Livestream

Our favorite anime heroes are finally playable in My Hero One’s Justice, an arena-style brawler in the My Hero Academia universe. The game plays similarly to the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series where two players face off in a 3D stage with a simple fight system that’s easy to pick up and play while still channeling the spirit of each character. While the likes of All Might, Midoriya, Bakugo, and many more from UA make up the character roster, members of the League of Villains are also playable such as Shigaraki, Dabi, and Toga. In the video above, Michael and Erick go head-to-head in the local match mode to try out every character available and see how their quirks have translated to video game form.

My Hero One’s Justice features a story mode that takes you through events seen in the anime, and puts you in control of the more pivotal moments. The narrative progresses with comic book-style panels with voice acting and occasional in-game animated scenes. You won’t just be able to play as the heroes; there is a separate arc in the story mode that lets you play as the villains. Finishing the story will also unlock an additional character (and it’s not much of a mystery who that is). There are a few other modes as well, like missions that have you doing specific objectives within fights and a traditional arcade mode that consists of six consecutive fights. Throughout the game, you’ll earn cosmetic items to dress up characters with quirky outfits and silly accessories.

You can become a pro hero on October 26 when My Hero One’s Justice launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
