Fortnite Update’s New 50v50 Mode Delayed

Update: Fortnite developer Epic has postponed the start of Battle Royale’s new limited-time mode, 50v50 v2, to next week. In a post on Reddit, the developer announced, “You may have seen information or even a video about the 50v50 v2 Limited Time Mode going live today. Due to the account service issues we’ve been experiencing, and in order to preserve your play experience this weekend, we will be delaying it to next week.” This delay comes after Fortnite experienced a significant bout of downtime that lasted nearly a day. The original story follows.

A new limited-time mode is starting soon in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Following the release of the game’s 3.5 update on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile, Epic is planning to kick off the 50v50 v2 event, a modified version of the game’s very first limited-time mode.

As its name suggests, 50v50 v2 pits two teams of 50 players against each other. In this mode, players will have full access to the island for 10 minutes before the storm begins closing in. Supply drops will also fall every two minutes in batches of three to six, but they will only land within the final storm circle.

In addition to that, Epic has adjusted the spawn rates of loot in 50v50 mode. The likelihood of floor loot spawning has been increased 15%, and farming resources has been increased by 75%. Supply drops also spawn double ammo along with an extra consumable, trap, and resource drop, while chests spawn double ammo and consumables.

Epic hasn’t announced an exact end date for the 50v50 event, but limited-time modes are typically only available for about a week. As this event is a “large squad” mode, it won’t track players’ profile stats. However, players will still be able to complete all non-squad-based Daily and Weekly Challenges. You can read more about the mode in Epic’s patch notes.

50v50 is set to begin shortly after the release of Fortnite’s 3.5 update. That patch added another new item to Battle Royale: the Port-a-Fort, which can construct a huge fort in a few seconds. Along with that, the update makes an assortment of balance tweaks and bug fixes, in addition to introducing new cosmetic options in Fortnite’s paid Save the World mode.

How Radical Heights Victories Compare To Fortnite And PUBG

How Radical Heights Victories Compare To Fortnite And PUBG

We take a look at how PUBG’s chicken dinner and Fortnite’s Victory Royale stack up against the new battle royale game’s celebration when you win a match.

By their very nature, victories in battle royale games are uncommon. Unless you’re playing a team-based mode (where the odds are still stacked against you), it’s you against 99 other people. So when you do manage to stick it out all the way to the end and take down that final opponent, you expect some kind of reward for all that hard work.

PUBG has its chicken dinner. Fortnite has its Victory Royale. And Radical Heights, the free new battle royale from the developer of LawBreakers, has its own unique spin on the victory celebration. As you might expect, given the game’s sillier tone, it doesn’t play things straight, cueing up the classic Joe Esposito song “You’re the Best” from Karate Kid. In the video above, you can get a look at how each of the three games deals with the big moment.

Radical Heights launched this week in Early Access. It’s rough in many ways, as you’d expect from a game that’s still early in development, although some of the omissions–like the absence of playable female characters, who won’t come until later–have proven more bothersome than others. The game does try to offer its own unique take on battle royale, such as letting you ride a bike and buy things from in-game vending machines (or store money in ATMs for future matches).

The specific roadmap for Radical Heights is not yet clear, though developer Boss Key says it plans to be in Early Access for about a year. It’s available as a free download on Steam, although a Founder’s Pack is available for sale that contains cosmetics and in-game currency.

Xbox Boss Praises Sony On God Of War PS4 Review Scores

Review scores for Sony’s new God of War game for PlayStation 4 are now online, and one person praising Sony on the game is the gaming boss at chief competitor Microsoft. Xbox boss Phil Spencer today congratulated Sony Santa Monica and PlayStation Worldwide Studios leader Shuhei Yoshida on the positive review scores and upcoming launch.

He added, “Looks like a special launch for the franchise, great job.” Yoshida responded, thanking Spencer for his kind words.

Phil Spencer praising Sony is expected at this point. He does it frequently when Sony launches something new or exciting. His sentiments come across as genuine, and it’s encouraging to see someone at his level speaking so warmly about the competition.

Microsoft and Sony may be competitors, but they’re staffed by people; people who enjoy video games just like you and me. As Spencer has said before, console wars are not productive.

GameSpot’s God of War review scored the action game a 9/10. “God of War is no longer an old-fashioned action series. With this reboot, it confidently walks a new path that will hopefully lead to more exciting adventures to come,” reviewer Peter Brown said.

Punisher: War Machine Undermines Frank Castle’s Mission

Marvel Comics’ recently concluded six-issue miniseries Punisher: War Machine, by writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Guiu Vilanova, was an over-the-top yet straightforward murderous action adventure: standard fare for a Punisher comic. Under the surface, however, the comic’s fun death romp displays a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes the character work.

The whole thing kicks off with Nick Fury giving the Punisher access to the War Machine suit in order to stop rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agents stirring up political unrest in the fictional European country of Chernaya. Naturally, he goes rogue with the suit and sets off on a Punishing spree through Chernaya, liberating wrongly incarcerated prisoners and destroying military bases along the way, and at one point using the suit to literally rip a man’s body in half.
