How Is Legion’s Villain Connected to the X-Men?

Spoilers for Legion Season 1 follow.

Last season on Legion it was revealed that the mysterious “Devil with Yellow Eyes” character is actually the Shadow King, a.k.a. Amahl Farouk, a long-standing X-Men villain whose rivalry with Charles Xavier dates back decades. And though Xavier wasn’t specifically referenced by name in the season, it’s clear that just like in the comics he is David Haller’s father.

For those not familiar with the Shadow King (or his dynamic with David and Xavier in the comics), we figured now — with Season 2 of Legion debuting — was the perfect time to break down his history and how Legion’s handling of the Shadow King compares to the source material.

Arrow Is ‘Probably Gonna Cross Over with Black Lightning,’ Says Stephen Amell

Although Black Lightning is not officially a part of the greater DC television universe, Stephen Amell wants to do an Arrow/Black Lightning crossover, and he thinks it will probably happen.

Amell addressed the possibility while answering fan questions during a panel at Awesome Con in Washington DC, according to Comicbook.com, saying he became a big fan of Black Lightning’s Cress Williams when he portrayed D’Shawn Hardell on 90210.

Although Black Lightning is not officially part of the Arrowverse, Amell cautions against ruling a crossover out. “Everyone pretends like we’re not going to eventually cross over with Black Lightning,” Amell said, “but we’re probably gonna cross over with Black Lightning because that’s just the way that the world works.”

Chrono Trigger Graphics Update To Address Complaints On Steam

Square Enix has promised a series of patches to the Steam release of Chrono Trigger. Though only one change has been detailed so far, it seems the company is taking to heart the feedback it received after releasing a port of the mobile version in February.

In a Steam update, Square Enix said that the first patch will come early this month and will allow players to swap between the current graphics and the original Super NES style. The sprite smoothing filter used to give the 16-bit RPG a higher-resolution look was among the top complaints from fans. The other most common gripe, that the user interface was based on the touch-screen mobile version, wasn’t mentioned among these changes.

“We have been working on addressing the issues that you’ve raised, and will be releasing a number of patches over the coming months as we continue to support Chrono Trigger on Steam,” the update read. “For now, be assured that we’re working very hard on adjusting, updating and supporting Chrono Trigger on Steam.”

Square Enix is also extending the availability of the Limited Edition until 9 AM PT on April 30, so that it will still be offered after at least one of the patches has gone live. It’s available for any purchasers at the regular price for a limited time. That version grants you a selection of downloadable music, digital liner notes, and six wallpapers.

To its credit, this version of Chrono Trigger does include the Dimension Vortex and Lost Sanctum dungeons from the DS version, adds keyboard and gamepad control options, and has an autosave function. Given a little TLC to take care of the rough spots, it might actually become one of the better ways to play the classic.

Call Of Duty: WW2 DLC War Machine’s New Maps Showcased In New Video

Activision has dropped a trailer for the next Call of Duty: WWII downloadable content, The War Machine. It gives us nice cinematic views of the new multiplayer maps, along with another War Mode mission and the next chapter in the Nazi Zombies mode.

The maps include Dunkirk, V2, and Egypt. The latter is the first time this series has gone to the country, and we get a nice view of the action inside landmarks like the Great Pyramids. Dunkirk and V2 offer a large open area with some tight interiors and a secret rocket test site, respectively. The War Mission mode is Operation Husky, which introduces aerial dogfights. The trailer ends on the Shadowed Throne, the next chapter of the Nazi Zombies storyline. This one takes the fight to Berlin, where Doktor Straub’s army is attempting to purge the city. With monsters, presumably.

The War Machine will release on April 10 for PlayStation 4. Sony’s timed exclusivity deal with Activision means it will arrive about a month later on PC and Xbox One, though it will include the same content on those platforms.

War Machine will be available as a standalone purchase, or as part of the Season Pass for $50 / £40 / AU $65. That also nets you access to the first expansion, The Resistance. Like this latest DLC, that also added new multiplayer maps, a War mode level, and an addition to Nazi Zombies mode.

Play This War Of Mine Free On Steam Until April 8

If you could use a little darkness in your life, head over to Steam and download This War of Mine. It’s free to play from now until April 8. The reason? Developer 11 Bit Studios is gearing up to release its next game, Frostpunk, which comes out later this month.

Be aware that This War of Mine isn’t a no-strings-attached freebie. You can only play it from now through the weekend. If you want to keep playing after that, you can purchase it for its current sale price of $6.

This War of Mine isn’t your typical war game. You play as a group of civilians struggling to survive in a war-torn city. To stay alive, you need to scavenge for food and medicine, while avoiding gun fire from soldiers and other civilians who are only looking out for themselves. You’ll have to make some tough decisions along the way.

In our This War of Mine review, Justin Clark called it “an oppressively somber 2.5D version of The Sims, rendered in a beautiful, but portentous, constantly moving pencil art style.” So it’s probably not for everyone.

“Is this a game you want to play? No,” the review concludes. “Is it a game anyone with a beating heart should play? Yes. A million times yes. It’s a longform exercise in empathy, a sobering piece of work that fills in the blanks left when all we see of war are the headshots. It’s a much-needed course correct in the current shoot-first-ask-questions-never gaming landscape that supposes war is won because one supreme bad guy caught a bullet through his brainstem. No: It’s won when the people who lived under his boot get to go home.”

If that sounds like your kind of game, you can download This War of Mine from Steam here.

PS4 Game Sale: All The PSN Deals In The US Until April 10

A new week-long PlayStation sale has just kicked off, bringing with it a number of deals on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games. While games from a few other publishers appear on the list, Telltale Games has gone all in and dropped the price on its PlayStation games across the board this week. So if you’ve been thinking of picking up a Telltale adventure game, now would be a great time to do it, because the discounts range between 25 and 80 percent off.

The Batman games are among the newest games in the sale. You can get Batman: The Telltale Series Season 1 for $7.49 and Batman: The Enemy Within, which just finished up with rave reviews, for $15. Or you can buy the Batman Bundle for $22.49.

The Walking Dead games also get deep price cuts during the sale. The breakdown of those prices is below. A quick warning, though: avoid The Walking Dead Collection, which includes all of the games in a single purchase. It’s on sale for $30, which is actually a little pricier than buying the games individually.

Some other great deals include Guardians of the Galaxy for $10, Minecraft: Story Mode for $6, Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two for $12.49, Game of Thrones for $6, The Wolf Among Us for $6.24, and Tales from the Borderlands for $4.49 (which happens to be currently free for Amazon/Twitch Prime members).

If you’re the type of person who likes to buy in bulk, take a look at the Telltale Mega Collection, which is on sale for $78. It includes the Walking Dead games, the Batman games, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones, and Tales from the Borderlands.

Movie fans may want to check out Jurassic Park: The Game for $4 on PS3 or Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition for $6 on PS4.

Non-Telltale highlights in the sale include WWE 2K18 Digital Deluxe Edition available for 55% off at $40 and Windjammers getting its price cut in half to $7. A bunch of PS4 themes and avatars are also in the mix.

There’s a lot going on in this sale, so head to the PlayStation Store to check it out. Most of these deals will be live until April 10.
