No More Heroes 3 – Rank 6 Boss Guide

SPOILER WARNING: Be careful! No More Heroes 3 is a game filled with surprises, and sometimes boss fights don’t always go as expected. In other words, we recommend not reading the boss strategy until you’ve actually started fighting the boss to avoid spoiling some of the game’s best moments!

The previous fight may have had an epic rap battle, but it’s time to face the music again in No More Heroes 3. This showdown, however, plays out a bit differently. Below, you can find out everything you need to know about defeating Velvet Chair Girl. For more guides, be sure to check out our No More Heroes 3 beginner’s tips.

How To Defeat Velvet Chair Girl

Who likes musical chairs? You don’t? Too bad because this unorthodox boss fight begins with a rhythm game that you don’t want to fail. We can’t give much advice for the beginning besides hitting the buttons in time with the metronome (which will speed up during the final phase) and sprinting to the chair when the tune stops.

No Caption Provided

Keeping in step to the music helps you get a speed boost when the music ends, so try not to mess up– or, at least, try to keep a streak going. Fail to get a seat, and it’s game over. (The revival sushi won’t do anything, so don’t waste the money.) Fortunately, if you do mess up, you’ll be able to retry from the phase you failed.

But even when your butt hits the seat for the last time, the fight isn’t over! You’ll have to fight Ohma, the blobby laser-spitting alien pet, by itself. Ohma really only has one kind of attack–spitting out a ginormous laser–but it’s a doozy because one hit from the beam is instant death!

Ohma will alternate between short and long blasts, sometimes sweeping in a semi-circle with the beam. You never, ever, ever want to be face-to-face with Ohma because as soon as you are, you’re basically toast. Keep moving towards its sides and back, and keep your combos short unless you can see that it’s staggered. Since Ohma stays at the center of the arena, Death Rain is a fantastic option for dealing damage, so use that whenever it’s available. Keep at it, and Ohma will wind up a deflated pile of goo on the floor.

No More Heroes 3 – Rank 7 Boss Guide

SPOILER WARNING: Be careful! No More Heroes 3 is a game filled with surprises, and sometimes boss fights don’t always go as expected. In other words, we recommend not reading the boss strategy until you’ve actually started fighting the boss to avoid spoiling some of the game’s best moments!

Look who’s back! Kimmy’s all grown up and ready to battle Travis, live on stage! After an epic rap battle for the ages, you’ll need to take on Travis’s one-time biggest fan on a set filled with flashy hazards, dangerous pyrotechnics, and the close-range attacks of Kimmy herself. Time to put this little diva down for good! Below, you can find everything you need to know to help you beat Kimmy Love. For more guides, be sure to check out our No More Heroes 3 beginner’s tips.

How To Defeat Kimmy Love

Kimmy is primarily a close-range fighter, though her weapon gives her a bit more range than some of the bosses you’ve previously fought. She can lunge at you with a series of charging, swinging attacks, or do a fancy jumping slash. When she’s going in on you directly, try to enact a Perfect Dodge to activate slo-mo and get yourself a good opening to counterattack. Be careful, though–if you’re in close, she can grab and trap you between her thighs in a vicious submission. You’ll need to mash A as hard as you can to escape! Try to attack from her sides or behind so she can’t counter with this.

Kimmy herself is bad enough, but her pyrotechnic stage effects can be every bit as nasty as getting up close and personal with the diva. After she takes a few hits, she will vanish, and fire bursts will sweep across the stage from the conspicuous nozzles on the floor. She’ll then re-emerge. From that point on, rows of fire will sometimes randomly alight.

When her life is down to two-thirds, she’ll vanish again, bringing the stuffed animals on her stage background to life. They’ll emit lasers from their eyes and start scraping the ground. You’ll have a brief window before the lasers start firing full force. Find an opening and work to weave between the lasers by watching their movements carefully. She’ll return by jumping out from below the arena floor (look for an area where sparks are flying out) and sending a shockwave out towards Travis, which can be dodged or jumped. Afterward, the animals will randomly fire lasers to scrape in a straight line.

At one-third health, a brief sequence where both the lasers and the fire bursts are active will play out. This can be particularly tricky, so keep your eyes on the ground and make sure the place you’re looking to move isn’t going to suddenly belch flames in your face. The lasers and flames will be much more active from this point onwards, and you’ll need to very carefully fight Kimmy up-close while navigating her stage hazards.

Then, a new gimmick will be added to the mix. The camera will shift from a third-person perspective to one of several different angles, forcing things out of view and generally messing with your spatial perception. This effect cannot be nullified, so you’re going to have to adjust on the fly to your new perspectives. Fortunately, Kimmy’s on the ropes at this point, so you won’t have to hold out much longer!

No Caption Provided

This can be a very high-pressure fight, but your trusty Death Glove is a huge help. Death Rain isn’t particularly useful with how mobile Kimmy is, but Death Kick and Death Force are both amazing for dealing with the pressure Kimmy can put on you with her combined swift attacks and stage hazards. Death Slow is always useful, too, especially when Kimmy is downed and you can get some extra attacks in.

Cowboy Bebop: John Cho Was Also Worried About Being Too Old to Play Spike

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop is just a few months away, and John Cho, who is playing the lead role of Spike Spiegel, is speaking out about the role.

When Cho was chosen for the role back in 2019, some fans voiced concerns that Cho is too old to play the show’s main character. In the anime, Spike is 27 years old, while Cho turned 49 years old earlier this year.

Now, speaking to Vulture, Cho revealed he was also concerned he was too old to play a character in his mid-20’s.

“The biggest fear that I had was I was too old,” Cho said. “I knew people were gonna have issues with my age. And I had to get over it. I’m not a person who says age is just a number or whatever. It was gonna be harder — physically.”

Still, Cho said he didn’t want to let his age stop him from playing a role he wanted to pursue. Cho went on to say his training was rigorous for the show.

“The regimen was to become functionally athletic rather than show-horse athletic. But, yeah, I had to watch what I ate. I did have to take my shirt off in the first episode, which was really stressful.”

Even with difficult training and doubts about his casting, Cho says his extra experience will help him bring something to the role he couldn’t have provided when he was 27.

“… in terms of my discipline, I am strangely better suited at this age. I don’t think I would’ve done justice to the emotional depth we tried to give Spike,” Cho said. “What I’m better at, being older, is showing weakness and vulnerability and love. Those things are more accessible to me. Personally, I’d prefer the version I’m able to do now.”

In the interview, Cho also discusses tearing his ACL during filming, which led to a delay in production. Now, the first season has completed filming, and it’s coming to Netflix on November 19.

Animal Crossing Sneakers And Clothing From Puma Coming In September

Puma is making a pair of Animal Crossing shoes alongside a line of clothes, and they’re not that far away. The sneakers, which feature various Animal Crossing-themed design flourishes, launch on September 18.

The shoe company posted a picture of the kicks on Twitter, showing off how the design incorporates Nintendo’s neighborhood-building game series. The main fabric of the shoe has a pattern of Animal Crossing faces on it (including K.K. Slider, of course), while the tongue has a leaf logo. The shoe’s colors also reflect the series, with pastel blues, teals, and earth colors. It’s evocative of the Animal Crossing-themed Switch, too.

Puma will also release a line of Animal Crossing-themed clothing alongside the shoes, although details have yet to be officially announced. However, the website Animal Crossing World shared an initial picture of a light-blue hoody from the collaboration that features the same faces that appear on the shoes.

We still don’t know what else will come in the collection or how much they’ll cost, but it’s certainly not a surprising collaboration: Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains one of the best-selling Switch games of all time. In addition, Nintendo continues to support it with new seasonal items and updates.

First New Game Boy Advance Game in 13 Years Smashes Kickstarter Campaign

Goodboy Galaxy, an upcoming game for Game Boy Advance, Switch, and PC, has smashed its Kickstarter goal. Yes — you read that right — it’s 2021, and a brand new game is coming to the 20-year-old GBA.

With about a month to go, Goodboy Galaxy has blazed past its initial goal of $25,000, and raised over $100,000 with the support of more than 1,500 backers. The game has also met all of its stretch goals, which include a physical Switch release, co-op missions on Switch and PC, a GBA-exclusive chapter, and more.

Goodboy Galaxy is an upcoming 2D exploration-based platformer. The developers describe it as, “kind of like Cave Story, or a cuter Metroid.” It stars a dog astronaut named Maxwell (the titular “Goodboy”), as he explores the galaxy. The game was created by two friends who have a deep love for the Game Boy Advance.

The game isn’t projected to launch until 2023, but the launch plans include a physical GBA version with the game cartridge, box, and manual that will fit right in with your Game Boy Advance collection.

Right now, there’s a demo available that you can download, or try directly from your web browser. To avoid spoilers, the content in the demo will not be a part of the main game. You can check out the demo and all of the backer tiers on the official Goodboy Galaxy Kickstarter page.

In addition to this Kickstarter project, the GBA era is experiencing a renaissance of sorts. WarioWare, which got its start on GBA, has a new Switch entry coming out in September with WarioWare: Get It Together. And, tactics fans can look forward to the remake of Advance Wars 1+2, which is coming to Switch this December.

Scott Waugh, director of Need for Speed and Act of Valor, will be helming the film. Production on the upcoming film begins this fall. The new Expendables movie’s screenplay was written by Spenser Cohen and revised by Max Adams and John Joseph Connolly.

Since the film series debuted in 2010, The Expendables’ ensemble cast of Hollywood’s greatest action movies stars has featured cameos of Chuck Norris, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Harrison Ford, Ronda Rousey, and Wesley Snipes. The Expendables franchise has grossed $804M in the global box office.

New Apex Legends Patch Fixes Bug That Allowed Players To Jump While Knocked

The latest patch for Apex Legends is live, fixing a few small issues, including a bug that allowed players to move more quickly and jump while downed. The patch also includes a number of stability issues and fixed a bug where the Bangalore Edition would show “no price found” on Steam, Respawn shared in a tweet.

As shown in this clip on Reddit, the bug would allow players to move around normally while down, including jumping. The bug could be caused by an enemy Legend canceling a finisher mid-animation. The downed players could move more quickly, better allowing them to use their knockdown shields to defend teammates. While players couldn’t consistently cause the bug themselves, it still gave an unfair advantage whenever it did occur.

Respawn also put out a patch last week nerfing Seer, the newest Legend, which tuned all of Seer’s abilities. The biggest changes were to his tactical ability–Focus of Attention no longer deals damage, nor emits a blinding flash.

Seer was added to the game as part of Season 10: Emergence, which also updated World’s Edge and added a Ranked Arenas playlist.

Streamer DrLupo Is Leaving Twitch For Youtube

Ben “DrLupo” Lupo, a streamer best known for his talents in first-person-shooter titles, as well as massive charity drives for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, is departing from his platform of choice. The streaming giant, who has 4.5 million followers on Twitch, will be streaming exclusively on YouTube starting on August 31.

Lupo’s move to YouTube follows other high-profile streamers leaving the Amazon-owned service in favor of Google’s alternative over the past two years. Notably, Jack “CouRage” Dunlop began streaming on YouTube in 2019, with Rachel “Valkyrae” Hofstetter doing the same in 2020. Both have found success on Google’s platform, with the former currently sitting at 3.4 million subscribers and the latter with over 3.5 million subscribers. YouTube is also Herschel “Dr. Disrespect” Beam‘s streaming platform of choice following his ban from Twitch.

Lupo already has a sizable audience on YouTube, with over 1.7 million subscribers. The streamer has not disclosed the terms of his deal with YouTube just yet. However, speaking to The Washington Post, Lupo said that the amount would leave him “secure for life.”

While Lupo will likely take a chunk of his viewership with him to YouTube, he stands to lose a many of the viewers and supporters he had on Twitch. The Amazon-owned platform dominates the streaming market, with a Streamlabs quarterly report stating that the service has just over 65% of the 27.98 billion hours of streams watched in 2020.

Twitch itself has been dealing with multiple issues itself recently, beyond the loss of talent. The platform has been criticized for its handling of DMCA takedowns filed by music publishers over the course of the past year. Streamers are also boycotting the platform for all of September 1 as a response to its plague of hate raids.
