It’s just shy of a week since Fall Guys launched across PC and PS4, but the Devolver Digital-published battle royale has already hit some significant milestones. As a thanks to so many of its players, developer Mediatonic is planning to give away a special cosmetic item soon.
In a post on the game’s Steam page, Mediatonic thanks the millions of players that have purchased the game already, celebrating 2 million customers on Steam alone. As a thanks for the support, and an apology for server connection errors that has persisted since launch, an in-game reward is being decided on for all players to claim for free soon. It’s not clear from the post if this will be offered to PS4 players too, who can still get the game as part of August’s PS Plus offerings.
The post also confirms that Mediatonic isalready working on new game modes to add to the pool of 25 already in the game, as well as new features that are only vaguely teased. The developer also reaffirms that work is continuing with server stability and capacity, as some players are still experiencing some connectivity issues. The game was review bombed at launch for this but has since recovered on Steam to a “Mostly Positive” status.
Fall Guys is a fun and approachable spin on battle royales, with easy-to-understand gameplay and whimsical mini-games to battle in. In GameSpot’s 7/10 Fall Guys review, the game was praised for its sheer fun factor. “It can be disheartening to have a game end prematurely due to uneven team matches and, worse still, when you’re forced into one of Fall Guys’ unsatisfying finale modes,” the review reads. “But neither are enough to derail the fun Fall Guys consistently generates, with its chaotic obstacle courses and earworm soundtrack ensuring you’ll be coming back for more.”

Many people are still stuck at home due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, and that’s leading a lot of us to spend more money on video games than ever. According to the NPD Group, spending on video games during the second quarter (April to June) reached an all-time record of $11.6 billion, which is an increase of 30% compared to the same period last year.
While the summer slowly winds down, with the heat from the sun scorching our skin to a burnt crisp, you may wonder why you went outside at all. Why didn’t you just hang out, indoors, on your couch watching Netflix? And if you’re looking to see what’s new to the streaming service from original programs to movies and TV shows, we have you covered. Here’s what’s coming to Netflix this week.
Fans of the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender will have something new to watch this week. The follow-up series The Legend of Korra arrives on Friday. The episodes that drop are from the first four volumes of the show, which follows the Avatar Korra and she goes her best to protect Republic City from the forces of evil. The series takes place 70 years after the events of the original series.
If you’re looking for something a bit more comedic, Scary Movie 5 arrives on Wednesday. The latest installment of the parody series stars Ashley Tisdale, Simon Rex, and Gracie Whitton, as the film spoofs movies like Inception, Paranormal Activity, Black Swan, and more. You, too, can watch Scary Movie 5 and yell at your TV things like, “I remember that movie this film is making fun of!” or “Ah yes, that is a moment from pop culture I remember!”
Finally, on Thursday, you can watch Safety Not Guaranteed. Directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World), the movie follows a writer at a magazine who is investigating the person behind a classified ad who claims they’ve invented a time machine. However, as the investigation progresses, the writer discovers that the inventor may not be crazy, and may be on to something. The film stars Aubrey Plaza, Jake Johnson, and Mark Duplass.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is an upcoming action platform game that sees the original cast of actors from the Samurai Jack cartoon return to reprise their respective roles. Taking place in the cartoon canon, Battle Through Time’s story will tie into the final season of the show.
In the video above, voice actors B.J. Ward, Grey Delisle-Griffin, and Kevin Michael Richardson offer a behind-the-scenes look at their respective characters: Hag Witch, Josephine Clench, and Demongo.
The trailer also showcases that Battle Through Time will occasionally change perspectives–while both Hag Witch and Demongo are fought in open 3D spaces, the fight against Josephine Clench takes place on a train and occurs within a 2D plane.
A beloved cartoon, Samurai Jack tells the story of the titular Jack, a samurai prince trying to save the world from Aku, a demon. Aku stops Jack by sending him far into the future to a time when Aku has already largely succeeded in taking over the world. Jack resolves to protect the inhabitants of the future until he can find a way to return to the past and end Aku before the demon can rise to power.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will be released digitally for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 21. Limited Run Games is selling a limited-time physical version for PS4 and Switch that will be available for pre-order on Friday, August 14 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET.
CD Projekt Red has announced episode 2 of Night City Wire, a digital show where the developers reveal details about their upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077. According to a tweet from the official CD Projekt Red account, this second installment to the series will focus on weapon types, lifepaths, and the transformation of punk rock band Refused into “chrome-rock” group, Samurai. If you’re interested in hearing the latest on Cyberpunk 2077, check out our handy watch guide below.
Night City Wire episode 2 takes place on Monday, August 10, and will start at 9 am PT, 12 pm ET, and 5 pm BST. If you’re watching from Australia, tune in on August 11 at 2 am AEST. There was no mention from CDPR of how long this episode is expected to be, but the first one lasted about 25 minutes so it’s possible this one will be about the same length of time.
How to Watch Night City Wire Episode 2
We’ll be hosting the Cyberpunk 2077 livestream on our channels across a variety of platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter. Here’s the full list of places you can watch Night City Wire Episode 2:
As we mentioned earlier, there are three topics CD Projekt Red plans to touch on during Night City Wire episode 2: Weapon types, lifepaths, and how Refused transformed into Cyberpunk 2077’s Samurai.
In previous screenshots and gameplay, we were given looks at the variety of weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. So far, we know there are manufacturers that develop a variety of different weapons that fall into three categories — power, smart, and tech. It’s possible we’ll see the different categories of weapons explored in more detail and maybe a bit about each manufacturer’s weapon style.
As for lifepaths, we explored these a bit in our latest Cyberpunk 2077 previews. These act as an origin story for your character and determine where your journey begins in Cyberpunk 2077. Check out Miranda Sanchez’s experience as the Nomad and Ryan McCaffrey’s experience as the “corpo-rat” if you want to know a little more about what those lifepaths are like ahead of the stream.
As for the details around Cyberpunk 2077’s music, CD Projekt Red recently announced punk rock band Refused would be the musicians behind Johnny Silverhand’s group Samurai in the game. We’re sorry to report that Keanu Reeves won’t be doing the singing for his character but it will be interesting to see what role his band plays in Cyberpunk 2077’s dystopian world.
Let us know what you’re most excited to hear about in the comments.
There are never enough superhero games for some of us, and the popular Injustice fighting game franchise hasn’t had a follow-up since 2017’s Injustice 2. Now, that might be set to change. Popular Twitter artist BossLogic uploaded an image that seems to suggest the existence of an Injustice 3, although at this point it appears to be more of wishful thinking than an actual announcement of any sort.
As noted by several observers, the clock in the background of the mock-up is likely a thinly-veiled reference to the Watchmen sequel Doomsday Clock–which was written by Geoff Johns, not original writer Alan Moore–which could indicate the inclusion of Watchmen characters in an Injustice sequel. While it seems a bit far-fetched, such crossovers have become increasingly common in NetherRealm games, since Injustice 2 featured disparate characters like Hellboy and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
It’s certainly possible that this mock-up is just a bit of wishful thinking on BossLogic’s part. However, the timing is suspicious, as DC’s upcoming Fandome event on August 22 will reveal new details about other upcoming superhero games, such as the newly-confirmed Suicide Squad game in development at Rocksteady. A previous snippet of dialogue from a Joker vs. Joker mirror match also seemed to imply that Injustice 3 is on the way. Though director Ed Boon denied it, given NetherRealm’s penchant for secrets and hints, that seems highly unlikely.
Given that Netherrealm has just shipped the Aftermath DLC for Mortal Kombat 11, it would seem likely they’re about to embark on a new project, and an Injustice 3 would certainly make sense. It would certainly be a next-gen game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We’ll likely have to wait until August 22 for any confirmation, however.

Call of Duty: Warzone is seeing multiple reports of a new, often game-breaking glitch, which sees gun textures corrupt and, on occasion, turn players into enormous, terrifying cubes of bullet-spewing death.
The glitch, which appears to have become widespread after the game’s Season 5 patch, can seemingly take multiple forms. For some, it affects elements of the gun, such as this player’s dual pistols:
In all cases, the guns remain entirely usable, with some players taking pride in the fact that they’ve gotten kills despite the fairly major disadvantage of suddenly using a haunted, eldritch weapon that looks like it should be in Control rather than Call of Duty.
What’s most interesting, however, is the effect it’s having on other players. When an opponent is using a glitched gun, they seemingly become encased within a gigantic, shifting black cube that has no regard for mundane things like “walls” or “the laws of physics”.
WHAT IS THIS GLITCH IN MW WARZONE?!?!
I LITERALLY COULDN’T FIGHT THE GUY CAUSE HE WAS JUST A BLACK/PURPLE BOX.
Again, this is a texture issue, meaning there’s still a normal character model amidst the evil box. It may well be that these players aren’t aware of the glitch while it’s happening, as many clips of the glitch show these new and frightening cube-warriors playing normally and landing hits, while their opponents generally freak out.
Developer Infinity Ward appears to be aware of the problem – the public Modern Warfare / Warzone development Trello lists “Reports of corruption appearing on the end of weapons after the latest update” as an in-progress fix. No estimate is given for how long that might take to fix, however. Some have reported that removing all visual customisation elements from your own loadout guns will stop the problem (although scavenged weapons, or weapons used in the Gulag can still cause the issue).

Nintendo’s detachable controllers are unique and versatile, but they don’t come cheap. The standard retail price is $79.99, which makes sense for the all the sensors and technical wizardry the contain, but it makes buying an extra pair hurt the old bank account. Thankfully, right now Amazon is offering Neon Red/Neon Blue Joy-Con for $10 off, bringing the price down to a more reasonable $69. It’s still pricy, but at least it’s less pricy.
I grabbed a pair because when I bought my Switch I went with what I considered the safe route and got the model with gray Joy-Cons. Those are unobjectionable, but they’re also pretty unexciting. I figured my Switch could use a splash of color.
Speaking of color, other Joy-Con color combinations are also in stock or will be back in stock soon on Amazon. Those are still marked at MSRP, but if a color combination grabs your eye, it may still be worth picking up.
And while those aren’t on sale, a bunch of great first-party Switch games are $10 off. Yes, saving 17% isn’t the biggest discount when it comes to video games, but this is Nintendo we’re talking about. What did you expect?
The success of Persona 4 Golden on Steam has prompted Sega to consider porting more of its catalogue to PC in the future. The critically acclaimed JRPG has sold over half a million copies on Steam since its release on June 14 and is considered a very good port.
As spotted by Persona Central, Sega Sammy recently held an investor Q&A after releasing its first-quarter financial results for the period between April and June 2020. With strong sales numbers for the PC launch of Persona 4 Golden, one investor asked if the company has any plans to sell newly released games on Steam as well.
“Because of [Persona 4 Golden’s] critical acclaim and its low selling price, sales were much stronger than expected,” answered Haruki Satomi (President and Group COO) and Koichi Fukazawa (Senior Executive Vice President and Group CFO). “We will continue to actively promote porting previously released titles to Steam and new platforms. We are also negotiating with platform holders for new games in the future, and we’re considering ways to sell under favorable conditions for each title. Among them are measures such as preparing PC versions of the titles from the beginning, with multi-platform releases in mind.”
This internal shift is likely to result in more Sega ports arriving on PC, particularly from Persona developer Atlus. Catherine, the studio’s adult-flavored puzzle game, launched on Steam in January 2019, and Sega’s latest stance means we could potentially see Persona 3 and Persona 5 hit PC at some point in the future, along with any upcoming games Sega has in the pipeline.
We’re already seeing evidence of this shift later in the year, when Yakuza: Like A Dragon launches on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 13. Previous games in the series have taken longer to make their way to PC, but it appears as though this won’t be the case going forward.

PUBG Corporation has a new patch on the way that’s about to introduce some heavy firepower into the battlegrounds. Patch 8.2 will arrive on August 19 for PC and August 27 for PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia, updating the PUBG arsenal with the MG3 light machine gun according to the latest patch notes. Players with access to the PC Test Server can try out the new changes from August 12.
The MG3 has two firing modes, which provide two different rates of fire when activated. The chambered mode allows for a 660 rpm firing mode, while the bipod attached to the weapon will be automatically deployed when players go prone and increase the firing rate to 990 rpm.
Players can also make use of tracer rounds on every fifth shot fired and the final 10 bullets in each magazine to keep track of where they’re firing, deal increased damage to vehicles, and make use of up to 6x optical scope attachments. The MG3 will spawn in Care Packages on all maps, but only in Normal matches.
The other gadget being added to PUBG is the Decoy Grenade, which will mimic gunshot sounds for 10 seconds after it has been thrown. Only available in Normal matches, the Decoy Grenade is a rare world spawn item.
The full patch notes which also detail weapon remodels, UI improvements, and care package updates, can be seen below:
PUBG Update 8.2 Patch Notes
New Weapon: MG3
The latest weapon available in Battlegrounds Care Packages is the fast firing MG3 Light Machine Gun. With two different rates of fire, a bipod for stability, tracer rounds to help you keep track of your spray, and increased weapon damage to vehicles, there’s a new reason to fight over the big red box.
Spawns in Care Packages on all maps, in Normal Matches only, not currently available in Ranked Matches.
The MG3 has two firing modes which change the fire rate between 660 rpm and 990 rpm.
Chambered for 7.62mm, holds 75 rounds and has a muzzle velocity of 820 m/s.
1.25x damage multiplier when shooting vehicles.
Tracer rounds are fired every 5th round, as well as for the final 10 bullets of each magazine, letting you know that ammo is running low.
Tracer rounds can only be seen by the shooter.
Supports optical attachments up to the 6x Scope.
The MG3 has an attached bipod, deploying automatically when prone to greatly improve weapon stability.
New Throwable: Decoy Grenade
Disorient your enemies and cover your movements with the new Decoy Grenade. Available as world loot on Sanhok, the Decoy Grenade will make fake firing sounds for about 10 seconds after thrown, giving you a few moments to make your move. The Decoy Grenade is a new throwable which mimics gunshot sounds. Purposely made to be used as a tactical item to distract and outwit your opponents.
Available only on Sanhok in Normal Matches, as a rare world spawn item.
Not available in Ranked Mode.
Decoy grenades can be cooked to reduce their detonation time out of the hand and are thrown just like other grenades.
Upon detonation, Decoy Grenades emit gunshot sounds for 10 seconds and eject shell casings to add to the guise of real gunfire.
Beware, they’re not waterproof! Dropping one into water will disable its effects.
Decoy Grenades don’t currently spawn in Training Mode.
Gameplay
M416, SKS and Kar98k has been remodeled from scratch to improve their visual quality. Along with their visual update, firing sounds of these weapons have also been overhauled.
Care Package Updates
C4 has been added to Care Packages on all maps, except Karakin.
MG3 has been added to Care Packages on all maps.
The C4 and MG3 are not available in Ranked Mode.
LMG (Light Machine Gun) Balance Adjustment
Vehicle damage multipliers have been added to LMGs.
MG3: x 1.25
DP28 : 1.15x
M249: 1.10x
Camera shake when firing LMGs while prone has been reduced.
There has been no changes made to the weapon recoil. However, players may feel the weapon is more stable due to reduced camera shake.
World
Erangel Docks
Four docks have been added to Erangel.
Two docks have been added to existing wharves, one at Novorepnoye and the other at Ferry Pier.
The southern beaches of the Erangel mainland and Sosnovka Island have also had docks added.
Quality of Life Improvements
Throwables Wheel Menu Improvements
The Throwables Wheel has been updated to better facilitate multiple recent additions to the PUBG throwable arsenal.
The wheel now has 6 slots and allows access to all throwables.
4 slots are permanent locations for the most common throwables; Frag Grenade, Molotov Cocktail, Smoke Grenade and Stun Grenade.
2 slots are dynamic. The dynamic slot on the right side holds either Sticky bomb or C4 and the one on the left can hold either Decoy grenade or Spike Trap.
If your inventory has both the Sticky Bomb and C4, the wheel will prioritize the Sticky Bomb. With Decoy grenade and Spike Trap, the Decoy grenade takes priority.
If you have a Sticky Bomb or Decoy equipped in your throwables slot, the dynamic slot on the wheel will display the other corresponding item, C4 or Spike Trap.
Helmet Hide Function
Sometimes you just want to look good for YOU. For those moments, you can now toggle off your helmet to maintain your default costume pieces, even after you protect your noggin with a fine Level 3 helmet.
This functionality is purely cosmetic, and other players will still see you with a helmet on, but you’ll at least get the satisfaction of enjoying your chicken dinner in full Alex the Dinosaur costume glory.
When Helmet Hide is enabled, your hoodie, hat or other head covering will remain visible even when wearing a helmet. To all other players, you’ll still be seen wearing, equipping and otherwise interacting with your helmet.
This is a local visual change, only showing for players who enable it.
Helmet Hide is disabled by default. You can enable it in the Settings, or by clicking the option in the Inventory.
Equipable slots for Head and Helmet are now separated.
Equipping a helmet now won’t automatically drop your hat, or other cosmetic item in the head slot.
Performance
Improved font loading process to reduce game stuttering/hitching.
Optimized the process for loading character data to reduce instances of stuttering/hitching and ensure a more stable framerate.
The item table is now preloaded on the client backend which results in items loading quicker.
