Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville — $14 ($40)
The Sims 4 — $5 ($40)
Sea of Solitude — $10 ($20)
South Park: The Stick of Truth — $7.49 ($30)
South Park: The Fractured But Whole — $12.49 ($50)
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order — $30 ($60)
Titanfall 2 — $5 ($20)
Trials Rising — $7.49 ($25)
Unravel Two — $10 ($20)
On the EA front, PC users can also save on The Sims 4 and numerous expansions. The base game is down to just $5, while big expansions like Seasons and Island Living are 50% off. For those looking for a multiplayer game for the whole family, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is slashed to $14, its lowest price yet.
Meanwhile, older EA titles are available for bargain prices. Titanfall 2, one of the best first-person shooters of this generation, is on sale for $5. Dragon Age: Inquisition is also discounted to $5, while modern horror classics Dead Space and Dead Space 2 are $10 each. Every title under the EA Originals banner is 50% off or more, including Sea of Solitude, Fe, and Unravel Two for $10 each.
Ubisoft titles make up a sizable portion of the sale, too. In addition to Siege and Odyssey, you can grab Far Cry New Dawn and Far Cry 5 for $12 each. Both South Park RPGs received big discounts, with The Stick of Truth down to $7.49 and The Fractured But Whole for $12.49.
Originally scheduled for as early as April 2020, CD Projekt Red has delayed Cyberpunk 2077 twice as it continues to spit and polish every aspect of its RPG. And with just three months left until the November 15 launch, the studio is taking some aspects down to the wire.
In an interview with VG247, senior gameplay designer Pawel Kapala explained that the team is still working on the first-person melee system, stating that they’re not “100% happy” with its implementation yet.
“We’re spending a lot of time trying to perfect that, and we basically, we’re not 100% happy, mostly with visual feedback on the hits, on the melee,” Kapala said. “So, we’re still working on it.”
Visual feedback is crucial in melee combat. Tuned correctly, it can be the difference between a big swing feeling like it’s connecting with a weighty target or just slicing through thin air as damage numbers pop up. Finding this balance in a game where combat is determined by role-playing statistics is difficult, as you want to make the player feel powerful while also adhering to their current weaknesses.
It’s a problem many games before Cyberpunk 2077 have struggled with, but Kapala is confident the extra time the studio has given itself will be enough to nail it down. He concluded by saying that the system presented to journalists just a few months ago has already been drastically improved.
Developer Motion Twin has issued a new update to Dead Cells, adding loads of new features and an entirely new biome, along with an 8-bit style soundtrack. The “Barrels o’ Fun” update is now available on PC, and it will follow on Xbox One, PS4, and Switch sometime this summer.
A new biome called the Derelict Distillery is an old broken down atmosphere with broken bottles and pipes venting steam. The new environment includes explosive barrels, which some of the new enemies will make use of by throwing them right at you or just jamming them into the ground and then jumping out of the way. Another new enemy type, the mimic, looks like a barrel and might catch you by surprise.
To help deal with these new threats, you have access to a few new weapons. Those include a barrel launcher, which is exactly as destructive as it sounds. You can also pick up the new tesla coil to deal damage to large groups of enemies. Finally, the update also adds a new chiptune 8-bit soundtrack for your listening pleasure.
Motion Twin confirmed the console release timing in a separate tweet.
Dead Cells originally released in 2017, scoring a 9/10 in GameSpot’s review, but it’s gotten a load of post-launch updates adding a variety of quality-of-life features, weapons, biomes, and bosses.
With the release date of Xbox Series X narrowed from Holiday 2020 to November, it’s about time to start trying to figure out whether it’s the next-gen console for you. For many, a major part of the decision that goes into pre-ordering a new console is the lineup of games that’s supported for the hardware. To that end, we’ve highlighted all of the games that will be available for Xbox Series X at or around launch. If it’s scheduled for 2020 and it’s going to be available for Series X, it’s on the list.
You may notice that Halo Infinite is absent. Well, that’s because Halo Infinite has been delayed to 2021. The game was the flagship title in the Series X’s launch lineup, so it’s a bit disappointing to see it delayed, but Microsoft’s next-gen console has a few other games to look forward to if you’re leaning towards picking it up this November.

In an Xbox Wire blog post, Microsoft promises that, even with Halo Infinite delayed to next year, there will be “thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year.”
Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher will be the next operator to join Rainbow Six Siege, and he will arrive with the Operation Shadow Legacy update as Specialist Zero.
While his possible addition was leaked a few months ago, Sam Fisher was officially revealed in a teaser trailer, and even though he wasn’t wearing his iconic night vision goggles, those three dots did appear on his gun with the classic sound.
Additionally, night vision activates part-way through the trailer, all while Fisher says, “You should know better than to write me off. Consider this a teaching moment.”
Ubisoft also released a key art of Sam Fisher, which you can see below, and it looks like those three dots may also be part of a device that can burrow through walls to provide a glimpse of what is on the other side.
We have yet to see Specialist Zero in action, but the end of the trailer promises his full reveal will take place on Sunday, August 16, at 11am PT/2pm ET/7pm BST.
“He seems to have kept in good shape despite being off active duty, though he also seemed a little more frazzled than usual when he arrived. I wonder what has Zero using Rainbow as his home base, he wouldn’t be here without his own motivations and we should take advantage of his experience. His military expertise will be a good balance to your psychological insight. As he’s coming in as the first member of the Rainbow Operational Staff (ROS), I’m curious and cautious of the changes he’ll bring to our organization. I’m sure his instruction will be a necessary, and painful, experience. I imagine there’s something he’s not telling me regarding his sudden appearance, but that’s not surprising. Zero operates on a need to know basis, I’m sure he’ll tell me when he thinks I need to know.”
Here are 25 details you might have missed in the kooky adaptation of the classic cartoon.
The Addams Family is not so much a film, but a series of dark, comedic shorts, looped loosely together by the overarching plot: a trio of con-artists rob the Addams family fortune by impersonating the presumed-dead Uncle Fester.
But it was fitting, because the original Charles Addams comic, which frequently ran in The New Yorker, was also a series of one-off, single-panel gags. And besides, these isolated, disjointed moments ended up being the best parts of the movie. Whether it was Wednesday’s latest attempts to kill Puggsley, or Morticia’s acid-dipped putdowns, or Gomez and Fester dancing the Mamushka, these scenes are engraved in our memories.
The 1991 film, along with the 1993 sequel Addams Family Values, set a high bar for casting. Considering the talents of Angelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd, and Christina Ricci (in her star-making turn), it might not be possible to cast a film better. Here are 22 Easter Eggs and fun facts for The Addams Family, which is now streaming on Netflix.

1. Everpresent Tar
At the very beginning of the movie, Lurch pours hot tar onto the Christmas carolers outside the Addams mansion. We see the tar stains on the front porch for the rest of the movie. In fact, if you watch the beginning of the movie carefully, you can even see the stains before Lurch pours the tar, implying this wasn’t the first time he’d done this.

]]>
2. First-Time Director
The Addams Family was director Barry Sonnenfeld’s first feature-length film. He would go on to direct the sequel, Addams Family Values, as well as the first three Men in Black films, starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
]]>
]]>
3. Meet Gomez
Raul Julia played Gomez Addams. Acclaimed as a Broadway actor, Julia was adept at performing Shakespeare, and he also played Don Quixote in a high-profile revival of Man of la Mancha. But he became popularly known for his Gomez portrayal and for playing M. Bison in the Street Fighter movie. He died in 1994, which made Gomez Addams one of his final film roles.
]]>
]]>
4. Meet Morticia
Angelica Huston played Morticia Addams. The cartoon character had a signature slim, angular look, and the filmmakers recreated this by putting Huston in a metal corset, and pulling her face back with string and sticky gum. As a result, Huston could not rest while on set, and was especially prone to headaches.
Huston did not initially think she would get the role; she thought Cher, who already looked like Morticia, would be an obvious first choice. But Sonnenfeld always wanted Huston; he thought Cher’s starpower would overwhelm the movie.

]]>
5. Meet Wednesday
The breakout star of the film, Christina Ricci played Wednesday Addams, the sullen, dead-panned daughter of Gomez and Morticia. Extremely precocious for her age (she was ten years old and celebrated her birthday on set), Ricci is credited by screenwriter Paul Rudnick for changing the ending to the movie. She convinced the filmmakers that the “fake,” impostor Fester should be the real Fester, because it would be more “emotionally satisfying.” They ended up rewriting 20 pages of the script as a result.
]]>
]]>
6. Kitty Kat
When Gomez visits the Addams vault, Tully tries to spy on him. During this sequence, you can hear a lion’s roar. Gomez then admonishes the offscreen lion, “Down, Kitty!” This is a reference to Kitty Kat, Morticia’s pet lion in the 1960s sitcom version of The Addams Family.
]]>
]]>
7. J.P Addams
The book that Gomez removes to reveal the secret passage to the Addams vault is titled Greed. The author is credited as J.P. Addams. This is a sly reference to J.P. Morgan, one of the most ruthless, well-known American bankers during the Gilded Age.
]]>
]]>
8. Fester’s Trunk
Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) has some creepy stickers on his traveling trunk, which implies that he loves to visit morbid locations. Among them are Jonestown, where 909 people died in a mass cult suicide; the Black Hole of Calcutta, an infamous dungeon where close to 150 prisoners died; and Elba, the Mediterranean island where Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled.
]]>
]]>
9. Fester Pinnets
Additional dark-humored items adorn Fester’s room. There’s a pinnet for Alcatraz, the infamous former prison off the coast of San Francisco. There’s also a pinnet for the Desert of Maine, an oddly barren section of land in Freeport, Maine that attracts curious tourists.
]]>
]]>
10. Train Cameo
Barry Sonnenfeld cameos as the newspaper-reading passenger aboard Gomez’s runaway train.
]]>
]]>
11. Fantastical Hamlet
Portions of the dialogue during Wednesday and Pugsley’s duel were lifted from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, from the duel between Hamlet and Laertes. The memorable final line, where Wednesday groans, “Sweet oblivion! Open your arms!” is an original flourish.
]]>
]]>
12. Arms Crossed
It was Christina Ricci’s idea to have Wednesday fold her arms like Dracula when she slept.
]]>
]]>
13. Shark Fins
When Gomez and Fester are watching home movies together, they laugh at a clip of themselves wearing shark fins as children, about to scare other delinquent kids at Camp Custer. This was taken directly from an Addams Family cartoon, but in the original, single-panel strip, it was Pugsley and Wednesday instead of Gomez and Fester.
]]>
]]>
14. Mamushka Composer
The man conducting the orchestra during the Mamushka is played by Marc Shaiman, who actually composed the Mamushka’s music in real life.
]]>
]]>
15. Mamushka Sparks
During the Mamushka, Uncle Fester and Gomez scrape their knives together to create sparks. But unlike with Gomez, you can hear the sound of electricity when Fester does it. It’s part of a long-running gag, present throughout Addams Family media, that Fester can conduct electricity with his body.
]]>
]]>
16. More Mamushka?
Originally, the Mamushka sequence was longer, with more singing and dancing. But a negative test screening, composed primarily of suburban teenage boys, caused the filmmakers to chop the musical number down to its current form. The full Mamushka has never resurfaced on any DVD or Blu-Ray releases, but you can hear the missing parts on the official Addams Family soundtrack.
]]>
]]>
17. All His Possessions
When the Addams are evicted from their home, you can see Thing dragging a red wagon behind him carrying all his possessions. Most of them are hand-themed; among those possessions are a leather glove and a bottle of hand lotion.
]]>
]]>
18. Making Kids Cry
To make the kids cry during the scene where Morticia tells them the story of Hansel and Gretel, Sonnenfield told them they were all going to get measles shots. After the shoot, one of the parents tried to kick his ass, and Ruddenfeld ran to his car so he wouldn’t have to throw down.
]]>
]]>
19. Product Placement
There’s an appropriately macabre ad for Tombstone Pizza in the scene where Wednesday and Pugsley are selling lemonade. The company’s long-standing slogan was, “What Do You Want On Your Tombstone?”
]]>
]]>
20. Girl Scout
The actress playing the Girl Scout is Mercedes McNab. She would later be cast in the sequel, Addams Family Values, as Wednesday’s nemesis, Amanda Buckman.
]]>
]]>
21. New Jersey
Thing searches the classified ads for work, and they confirm the Addams Family lives in New Jersey. Original cartoonist Charles Addams was also from New Jersey, and the iconic Addams mansion was inspired by a house on the corner of Dudley and Elm Street in Westfield.
]]>
]]>
22. Hammer Time
The song that plays over the credits is “The Addams Groove.” It was written by MC Hammer, most famous for his early ’90s hits “U Can’t Touch This” and “2 Legit 2 Quit.” The new song includes a remix of Vic Mezzy’s “The Addams Family Theme.” The only time we hear Mezzy’s original arrangement is at the very beginning of the movie, when Lurch is pouring the hot tar.

Coinciding with news that Halo Infinite has been delayed, Microsoft has narrowed down the release window for its next-gen console. The Xbox Series X will be released sometime this November, according to a blog post on the Xbox Wire. That means it’s not being delayed in order to coincide with the launch of the new Halo, which was set to be the big first-party launch game for Xbox.
A specific Xbox Series X release date within November was not set, so we’ll need to continue to wait on both that and the other big question mark–the Xbox Series X’s price. The release window was confirmed as part of the aforementioned blog post that shares highlights regarding the Xbox Series X and tries to reassure fans about launch, given the system will now debut without a new Halo game as expected. The timing of the post is somewhat conspicuous, coming immediately on the heels of Infinite’s delay.
Microsoft promises that, even with Infinite pushed to 2021, there will be “thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year.”
There’s no other new information in the post. It reiterates the benefits of playing existing games on Xbox Series X, the techniques being used to improve those games through backwards compatibility (including the addition of HDR), and Xbox Game Pass. In advance of Xbox Series X’s launch, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will get access to xCloud, allowing them to stream games to their mobile device–although iOS won’t be supported, at least initially.
Unsurprisingly, there’s no mention of the Xbox Series S, the name of which was confirmed as part of a recent leak, with Xbox Series X controllers going on sale early. Series S is what’s been previously known as Lockhart–an alternate next-gen Xbox that reportedly is intended for sub-4K gaming that can be sold at a lower price than what Series X ends up coming in at.
For now, Xbox Series X remains the lone confirmed next-gen model from Microsoft. It packs the expected improved hardware for enhanced visuals and framerates up to 120fps, as well as a solid-state drive that allows for dramatically improved load times–one of the key features being touted by both Microsoft and Sony with PS5. Quick Resume is also touted, allowing players to jump between multiple games with minimal delay.

Streamer Michael Grzesiek, aka Shroud, has revealed his post-Mixer plans: He’s heading back to Twitch. Grzesiek tweeted a video that incorporated the kill montages he’d previously posted that heavily featured the tagline “I’m coming home.” Both the Twitch logo and his Twitch channel URL were included in the video and tweet itself.
Shroud will be streaming “full time” and exclusively on Twitch, according to a press release. His first stream will be coming “soon,” but an exact date and time for his return have not yet been confirmed.
Grzesiek, like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, had signed an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft’s now-defunct streaming platform, Mixer, and it had been unclear what his next move would be after it went under. Given the amount of Valorant content in his first set of kill montages, there was speculation that he might be getting back into the pro scene with Riot’s latest shooter–Grzesiek did get his start as a professional CSGO player, but now it’s clear that he’s sticking with streaming, and going back to the place that started it all.
Though Grzesiek apparently did look into both Facebook Gaming and YouTube as possible new homes for his streaming content, he ultimately went with Twitch because he felt his old stomping grounds were still his best option.
“As I was exploring options, I realized that there was no better place than Twitch to engage with the best and most loyal gaming community worldwide,” he said in a statement.
Despite having been off Twitch for 10 months now, Grzesiek still has over 7 million followers on the streaming platform, and the comments on his tweet show that many are excited for his return. Twitch is certainly happy, as SVP of Content at Twitch Michael Aragon said in a statement: “There’s nothing better than a homecoming, so we’re thrilled to welcome Shroud and his incredible community back to Twitch.” The length of Grzesiek’s deal and the financial details surrounding it have not been released, but Grzesiek did say that his channel would be coming back with a new look and logo.
Microsoft has announced that Halo Infinite has been delayed. The game was originally set to launch alongside the Xbox Series X in the holiday season, but the launch has been shifted to 2021.
“Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision,” reads a statement on the 343 Industries Twitter.
“The decision to shift our release is the result of multiple factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts affecting us all this year. I want to acknowledge the hard work from our team at 343 Industries, who have remained committed to making a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. However, it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday.
“We know this will be disappointing to many of you and we all share in that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years has been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this holiday. The extra time will let us finish the critical work necessary to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever at the quality we know our fans expect. Thank you for your support and understanding.”
In terms of gameplay, new ideas manifested in the form of unique new features such as a map–hinting at a more open-world structure–and a grappling hook, which displayed a new dynamic to combat. Visually, Infinite looked to be harkening back to the very first Halo, with bright, colorful vistas of green fields, blue skies, and monolithic structures.
The game did receive some criticism for its visual fidelity, which Microsoft defended in the time following the showcase. Observers pointed out the low texture quality and argued that it didn’t show off the power of the Xbox Series X to the degree they expected. 343 Industries noted that it understands the criticisms and the feedback is “not falling on deaf ears.”
343 Industries also said Halo Infinite will get better-looking after launch, as the studio is planning a ray-tracing update for sometime after release. The art style, however, isn’t likely to change. A new figure available for purchase better shows off the Master Chief’s new armor, which doesn’t feature the complex level of detail from designs used in more recent Halo titles.
More recently, 343 Industries announced that the multiplayer component of Halo Infinite will be free-to-play and will support 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X. Further details on its multiplayer will be revealed at a later date. Thus far, we haven’t seen any footage of the Halo Infinite multiplayer. It was previously confirmed that the multiplayer will be available at launch. Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently said that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer was “special” and the team worked alongside professional Halo players to fine-tune the experience.
Alongside the Halo Infinite delay announcement, Microsoft revealed Xbox Series X’s release date is set for November 2020, “with thousands of games spanning four generations.” Microsoft outlined some of these titles in a blog post on the Xbox Wire and also highlighted bells and whistles some of them will enjoy on Xbox Series X.
“We have plenty to keep you busy until Chief arrives: There will be thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year. And with brand new console features like hardware-accelerated Direct X raytracing, framerates up to 120 frames per second, faster loading times, and Quick Resume for multiple games, playing will look and feel better, no matter which games you choose to play on day one.
“Playing your favorite games and franchises across four generations of Xbox was a key tenet for us in the next generation of console gaming. This commitment means that you will have access to thousands of titles across four generations of content–from Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
“Our back compat team continues to develop new innovations that can be applied to a curated list of titles that will enhance them even further than was possible when they were originally created. These optimizations include the ability to render titles with increased resolutions up to 4K, delivering new HDR reconstruction techniques to games that were developed years before HDR came into existence, applying anisotropic filtering to improve image quality, and creating ways to increase or double the frame rate of certain titles.”
