Fortnite Week 3 Challenges: Complete Timed Trials, Hit A Player With A Tomato, And More

Fortnite‘s challenges for Week 3 of Season 6 are now available, which means it’s time to get back on the grind and get those precious Battle Stars. As a refresher, completing these challenges reward you with Battle Stars which, in turn, level up your Battle Pass and allow you to unlock the sweet, sweet cosmetics for your character. Challenges are available in two sets, with one for all players to do and another just for those that have paid for a Battle Pass.

In the free to everyone section, this week’s challenges involve reviving a player in five different matches, getting one Damage Trap elimination, and starting the multi-stage challenge by searching a chest in Lonely Lodge. That’s all self-explanatory, though the Damage Trap elimination may take some perseverance.

In the paid Battle Pass section, there’s some trickier ones, the first of which is a multi-stage challenge that begins with visiting Risky Reels and Wailing Woods in a single match. On top of that you’ll need to hit a player with a Tomato from 15m or more away, eliminate an opponent in 10 different matches, and complete timed trials. Take a look at all the challenges for Season 6, Week 3 below.

These aren’t the only challenges that are available to do this week, as developer Epic Games has also rolled out a set of Halloween-themed unlocks to acquire. While the Skull Trooper (Male), Skull Ranger (Female) skin, Skull Sickle Harvesting Tool, and Crypt Cruiser Glider are available to purchase in store, in order to get the Ghost Portal Back Bling you’ll need to complete the Skull Trooper Challenges.

It’s been a busy week for Fortnite as, along with the two sets of challenges, Epic has also launched Fortnite Update 6.02. This new patch introduces a Limited-Time Mode called Disco Domination as well as the new Quad Launcher weapon. You can read all about those, as well as the other tweaks and changes made, in the Fortnite 6.02 patch notes.

Fortnite On Android Now Available Without An Invite

Fortnite is now available on Android without bothering with an invite. The beta had previously been invite-only, but as of today you can download it to any Android device for free, without waiting. In the announcement, Epic directed users to the official site for the download.

Epic accompanied the announcement with recommended system specs for your Android device to get the optimal experience. You can check the list of supported devices to make sure yours fits the bill.

  • OS: Recommended Android 8.0 or higher, 64 bit
  • RAM: Recommended 4GB or higher
  • GPU: Adreno 530 or higher, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher

Plugging the official site is important, since Epic circumvented the Google Play store to release the application directly to users. That allows the studio to keep more of its profits, but has run the risk of security problems. Avoiding the safety of a known and trusted store also raises the risk of unscrupulous people confusing potential players. Most recently, dubious apps claiming to offer free V-bucks or cheats have been connected to phishing schemes. For obvious reasons, make sure to install through the official site.

Fortnite is in the middle of Season 6, dubbed Darkness Rises, with lots of spooky cosmetic items to mark the occasion. More Halloween skins appear to be on the way as well. For help unlocking all of the loot, be sure to check out our challenge guide. And if you want to make some Halloween merriment outside of Fortnite, read all about some other ongoing video game Halloween events to get into the spirit.

Fortnite Challenge: Timed Trials Locations (Week 3, Season 6 Guide)

Challenges for Fortnite Season 6, Week 3 have now gone live and, for the most part, there’s nothing too taxing among them. In fact, it feels like a nice Halloween-themed romp around the island where you’re making mischief and getting candy (Battle Stars). However, one particular challenge involving timed trials stands out as being slightly tricky, so we’ve put together a quick guide to help you get it done quick. Here’s where to go and what to do.

The challenge in question is complete timed trials, which you may remember from Season 5, when this type of challenge made its debut. What you need to do and the process for completing it hasn’t changed since then, so here’s a breakdown. Scattered around the island are blue stopwatch collectibles and, when you pick one up, you’ll have an allotted amount of time to grab the rest of the them that appear in the area. If you’re new to this, it may take some trial and error as some of the collectibles require you to build your way up to them. Naturally, this means you’ll have to have the relevant resources on hand to craft the necessary platforms. In some areas it can also be advantageous to hop in a vehicle to get it done quick, so you’ll have to get a feel for whether that’s the case and then grab an ATK.

When it comes to finding the location of the timed trials, we recommend going for the other challenges first, but keeping your eyes peeled for the blue stopwatch pickups. In particular, the “search a chest in Lonely Lodge” and “visit Risky Reels and Wailing Woods” challenges are good trials to have as the main focus. These two challenges involve travelling around the map, so you’re likely to run into some trials along the way. This is a great way of streamlining the challenge completion process. Thankfully, there’s plenty of timed trials scattered around the island. The ones we found are listed below, along with screenshots of their locations.

  • Outside Tomato Temple (Between G3 and G4)
  • Left of Dusty Divot (F5)
  • Hilltop south of Tilted Towers (D6)
  • Bridge near Shifty Shifts (D8)
  • Villains Hideout (Between B4 and B5)

Once you’ve completed three of the timed trials, you’ll get yourself 10 precious Battle Stars. The rest of the challenges shouldn’t be as difficult. Take a look at our full rundown of Season 6, Week 3’s challenges for more information on those.

Fortnite is currently feeling a bit spooky for Halloween, and if you want to be extra effective at putting the fear in other Fortnite players, developer Epic Games has released a bunch of new cosmetic that are worth checking out. These include the Skull Trooper skin, which makes its long-awaited return with a few extra customization options. There’s also the new Skull Ranger skin for the female character model, the Skull Sickle Harvesting Tool essential for that harbinger of doom look, and the Crypt Cruiser Glider so you look like death floating around the skies of Fortnite. These can all be purchased through the in-game store using V-Bucks.

However, the hottest Fortnite in-game item this Halloween is undoubtedly the Ghost Portal Back Bling, which emits ghostly apparitions of other skins. To get this you’ll need to complete the Skull Trooper Challenges, which will take a fair bit of dedication. You can see all the Skull Trooper Challenges and new cosmetics here.

If you need a break from the challenge grind, Epic has introduced a new Limited-Time Mode called Disco Domination. This mode tasks two teams with taking control over the most number of dance floors on the Island. Naturally, to secure a dance floor you’ve got to dance long enough to raise a disco ball. This mode was added as part of update 6.02, which also included the new Quad Launcher weapon. You can read about both of these additions, as well as other tweaks and changes in the Fortnite update 6.02 patch notes.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Has Series’ Best First Week In Years

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is off to a flying start. The latest entry in Ubisoft’s blockbuster franchise had the best launch week for the franchise on the current generation of consoles, the French publisher announced in a press release. That means the game had a better first-week performance than the first Assassin’s Creed game released for PS4 and Xbox One, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (2013), as well as all the follow-ups including Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014), Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015), and Assassin’s Creed Origins (2017).

Ubisoft did not share a specific first-week sales figure for Odyssey, but the company said the milestone includes internal estimates of game sales–digital and physical–as well as revenue from microtransactions (called “player recurring investment” in the press release). In other words, it doesn’t necessarily mean Odyssey outsold the aforementioned games on a unit basis.

In a statement, Ubisoft marketing executive Geoffroy Sardin said the company is “humbled” by the reception to Odyssey from critics and fans alike. He added that launch is just the beginning for Odyssey, as Ubisoft plans to to release heaps of extra content in the coming year. As announced previously, there will be no new Assassin’s Creed game in 2019, so this extra content seems to be all that fans will get for some time.

Odyssey was developed by Ubisoft Quebec with support from eight other Ubisoft studios around the world. The game set in Ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War.

Regarding the extra content coming to Odyssey, Ubisoft is promising the “biggest and most ambitious” follow-on content in franchise history. This includes two new storylines, Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis, which each contain three instalments that will be released episodically. That content is paid, but Ubisoft is also offering a third storyline, The Lost Tales of Greece, to all players for free.

GameSpot’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey review scored the game an 8/10.

“Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s ambition is admirable, which is reflected in its rich attention to detail for the era and its approach to handling the multi-faceted narrative with strong protagonists at the lead,” reviewer Alessandro Fillari said. “While its large-scale campaign–clocking in at over 50 hours–can occasionally be tiresome, and some features don’t quite make the impact they should, Odyssey makes great strides in its massive and dynamic world, and it’s a joy to venture out and leave your mark on its ever-changing setting.”

Amazon’s PS4, Xbox One, And Nintendo Switch Deals This Week (US)

Unlike most other retailers that sell video games, Amazon doesn’t offer a regular weekly sale. Instead, it uses a more mysterious process for choosing which games to discount and when. So at any given time, you can usually find unadvertised sale prices on a selection of games, even if it’s unclear when they’ll go back to regular price. In any case, we’ve gone through the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC game discounts that are live now and highlighted some of the best ones below.

For starters, if you’re an Amazon Prime member and you pre-order Call of Duty: Black Pro 4 before it launches on October 12, you’ll get a $10 reward certificate. Even without a traditional campaign, this year’s installment is shaping up to be an interesting one, thanks in part to the new battle royale-like Blackout mode. In other shooter news, you can grab Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection on sale for $40 right now. This package contains every piece of content Bungie has released for Destiny 2 to date, including the core game, both Year 1 expansions, and the huge new addition, Forsaken. That’s a great deal on a whole lot of content.

It’s October, so a horror game might be what you’re after. In that case, you should find Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition–on sale for $30–suitably terrifying. It locks you in a house with a deeply disturbing family that just can’t seem to stay dead. The Gold Edition also includes all three DLC packs that will keep you playing long after you’ve seen the credits roll.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider hasn’t been out long, but it’s already on sale for $45. For a relatively down-to-earth take on the action-RPG genre, you can pick up Kingdom Come: Deliverance for $30. It eschews the fantasy aspects of games like Skyrim in favor of a more historical take on medieval life (and warfare).

PS4 owners can pick up the incredibly stylish RPG Persona 5 for just $30. If an action-RPG that focuses on big muscles and hack-and-slash gameplay is more your speed, you might want to try Dragon’s Crown Pro for $20. Or perhaps a slower game is what you’re after; in that case, try Harvest Moon: Light of Hope for $30 (also available on Switch).

  • Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection — $40 — PS4 | Xbox One | PC
  • Dragon’s Crown Pro — $20 — PS4
  • Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition — $30 — PS4 | Switch
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance — $30 — PS4 | Xbox One
  • Persona 5 — $30 — PS4
  • Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition — $30 — PS4 | Xbox One
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider — $45 — PS4 | Xbox One
  • Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet — $24 — PS4 | Xbox One

Destiny 2 Festival Of The Lost Features New Rewards, Activity, And More

With Halloween looming, the launch of Destiny 2‘s Festival of the Lost event is drawing near. Bungie had previously only offered a small tease of what to expect, but it’s now provided an overview of the new types of activities that await players, as well as a look at the Halloween-themed rewards that will be available during the event.

Perhaps the most significant component of Festival of the Lost is something called the Haunted Forest. Either solo or with a team, players will be able to venture inside to defeat its “ghouls and demons, who are spooking up a storm.” There will be a 15-minute time limit to contend with, and the area will get more difficult as you make it further inside.

Toward the end of the event, there will also be a questline to investigate the killing of Master Ives, a cryptarch previously located in the Vestian Outpost. As you work to uncover the truth, you’ll be able to earn a piece of Powerful gear, but this won’t begin until the weekly reset on October 30.

Amanda Holliday, the shipwright at the Tower, has been charged with leading the general festivities during Festival of the Lost. The Tower will be adorned with spooky decorations, and she’ll offer daily bounties that pay out a new type of item called Fragmented Souls. These can be cashed in for Festival of the Lost masks and a new Legendary auto rifle called Horror Story. There will also be new Triumphs to work toward completing, presumably related to all of the aforementioned activities.

As with the Solstice of Heroes event back in August, filling your XP bar (if you’ve reached the level cap) during the event will be particularly valuable. You’ll still receive the standard Bright Engram but also get an Ephemeral Engram, which includes new rewards. Those include a guitar emote and a new dance, both of which you can see here, as well as new Ghosts, ships, and a sparrow, which are all pictured above. Ephemeral Engrams will be sold by Tess at Eververse, who will also have a selection of these new items for direct sale in exchange for Bright Dust.

Festival of the Lost begins next Tuesday, October 16, the same day that the first of two big updates arrives for Destiny 2. The event concludes on November 6. It does not require owning Forsaken to take part in.
