Fortnite Update Keeps Its AI Enemies Around For New Battle Royale LTM

Fortnite‘s 6.22 update has arrived, bringing a new weapon as well as two limited-time modes to the hit game. While the Fortnitemares event may now be over in Battle Royale, the Halloween spirit carries on in one of this week’s LTMs, a brand-new mode dubbed Team Terror.

Much like other team-based LTMs, Team Terror pits two teams of players (in this case, 32 vs. 32) against each other in a battle to be the last side standing. What sets it apart from previous modes, however, is the presence of Cube Monsters, the zombie-like creatures that first appeared during the aforementioned Fortnitemares event. These will spawn around the island as the match rolls on, adding a PvE element to the LTM.

Destroying Cube Monsters will cause them to drop weapons or ammo, giving you an incentive to take down any you come across. Resource and loot drop rates have also been adjusted for the new LTM. The likelihood of floor loot spawning has been increased by 15%, and farming resources have been increased by 75%. You can find more details on Team Terror in Epic’s patch notes.

In addition to Team Terror, Epic has brought back a previous LTM this week: Blitz. This is a much faster-paced version of a standard battle royale game; the match begins with the storm already closing in on the island, and the time between storm circles is much shorter than normal, so each match will last about 15 minutes at most. Loot is also much more plentiful in Blitz mode, further speeding the action up.

Beyond the new LTMs, the 6.22 update introduced a new gun to the game: the Heavy Assault Rifle. It’s available in Rare, Epic, and Legendary variants and can be found as floor loot or in chests, vending machines, and supply drops. Epic has also reverted the Pumpkin Launcher back to the standard Rocket Launcher and reduced the spawn rate of the new balloons.

Microsoft Built Its New Campus in Minecraft to Introduce Employees

There seems to be nothing Minecraft players can’t or won’t build in the game. Case in point, Microsoft has now constructed its own corporate headquarters inside the game it bought for $2.5 billion in 2014.

CNBC reports that Microsoft hired Blockworks, a UK design studio that works in Minecraft, to give employees an advance look at a planned refresh of Microsoft’s Redmond, Washington campus. The 500-acre campus’ overhaul is scheduled to be finished in 2022.

Microsoft’s decision to preview the project in Minecraft came about when an employee saw his son playing the game. He realized Minecraft could be used to show employees the planned campus changes well ahead of their completion, and in a more immersive way than traditional building renders can.

Shrek Franchise Being Rebooted by Despicable Me Producer

Shrek and its spin-off Puss in Boots are reportedly getting soft reboots to be overseen by Illumination Animation CEO and Despicable Me producer Chris Meledandri.

As reported by Variety, Meledandri has been asked by Universal Pictures to discover new storylines for its recognizable core cast of characters. In a Variety profile that coincided with the news, it was revealed that Meledandri is looking to revisit the properties, but not totally revamp them. In line with this, he wants to maintain the voice cast that includes Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey and Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots.

WWE 2K19 Pre-Order Characters Available Today

If you missed out on the pre-order bonuses for WWE 2K19, you can pick them up as downloadable content. Two packs, one featuring Ronda Rousey and Rey Mysterio and the other featuring Ric Flair, are available for purchase separately.

The Ronda Rousey & Rey Mysterio Pack and the Wooooo! Edition Pack (featuring Ric Flair) are available across PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Previously Rousey and Mysterio were only available for pre-orders and Ric Flair was available in the Collector’s Edition for $130. 2K also recently teased an upcoming Titans Pack but hasn’t detailed a release date for it yet.

GameSpot’s WWE 2K19 review appreciated the engaging MyCareer mode and stories, and the various quality-of-life tweaks, but lamented its slow character progression and some notable absentees from the roster. In particular, critic Richard Wakeling said that players are out-of-luck for Rey Mysterio or Rousey, who is the current Raw Women’s Champion, unless they pre-ordered.

“Despite its flaws, WWE 2K19 is a step in the right direction for the long-running series,” Wakeling wrote. “After two years toiling away with a dearth of interesting single-player content, the introduction of an engaging career mode is a welcome sight that finally captures some of the personality pro wrestling is partly built upon. The in-ring action is still inconsistent and will be as divisive as ever, but it’s easier to stomach when the game surrounding the wrestling action gives you more reasons to play.”

Nintendo Is Hiring for a Zelda-Related Project

Nintendo appears to be starting work on a new Legend of Zelda project, according to a pair of job listings.

First spotted by Resetera user guru-guru, the listings are for a 3DCG designer and a level designer. Neither reveals much about what sort of Zelda project the developers would be working on at Nintendo, but do have callouts to a few Legend of Zelda franchise staples.

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo wants the designer to have experience working on action games and to be able to work on designing terrain like fields and dungeons. Similarly, the level designer needs to have worked on planning video game dungeons, fields, and enemies.

Blizzard Has ‘No Plans’ for Warcraft 4 Right Now, Warcraft 3: Reforged Is the Priority

Fans of Warcraft’s real-time strategy roots might have assumed that the announcement of Warcraft 3: Reforged at BlizzCon 2018 indicated that a full-fledged fourth game was on the way, but it doesn’t appear that this is the case – at least for now.

Speaking to GameSpot, Blizzard senior producer Pete Stilwell said that his team’s priority, “first and foremost,” is to make Warcraft 3: Reforged as good as it can possibly be. Stilwell stopped short of saying Blizzard would never develop a fourth Warcraft game, but said the studio doesn’t have any plans for it at the moment.

New Fortnite 6.22 Update Out Now [Updated]

Epic has announced that the next update for Fortnite will go live on Tuesday, November 6. The game will experience downtime while Update 6.22 is rolled out, which is scheduled to start at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM GMT. [Update] Update 6.22 is now available and you can see what’s new in the full patch notes.

As with previous Fortnite updates, Epic will release the full patch notes for Update 6.22 on the day of its release. If the developer follows the same pattern as the last several patches, the notes will release just prior to Fortnite’s scheduled downtime. We’ll update this post once the patch notes are released.

Although it has not been confirmed, it’s probably safe to assume that Fortnite’s newest weapon, the Heavy Assault Rifle, is a part of this new update. The Heavy AR appears to be based on real-life AK firearms and deals serious damage when fired in short, concentrated bursts. Epic hasn’t announced when the new weapon will be added to Fortnite, but it’s recent tease suggests it will be a part of Update 6.22.

Fortnitemares, as well as the challenges and rewards associated to the event, has officially ended as of last week. The limited-time event ended with another strange in-game phenomenon where the massive purple cube transported players to another realm. Even if the season of scares is over, Season 6 challenges still offer several spooky rewards if you’re clinging to the Halloween spirit. You can have your in-game character grow more wolf-like with each level up if you unlock Season 6’s Legendary Dire Wolf skin, for example.

Fortnite is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. The game supports cross-play across all platforms.

Fortnite Update 6.22 Patch Notes: Heavy AR, Blitz, Team Terror, And More

Epic Games has release Fortnite update 6.22 and detailed the contents of the latest update. The major new addition is an assault rifle called the “Heavy AR,” but there’s also two new Limited-Time Modes. The first, called Team Terror, features “two teams [battling] it out while Cube Monsters.” Its another take on the players versus players and environment gameplay introduced as part of the Halloween Fortnitemares, but with more players involved.

The second Limited-Time Mode is called “Blitz” and is described as “a faster-paced version of Battle Royale. The match begins with the storm moving towards the island, and the delay between each circle is shorter than normal, creating matches that are 15 minutes long or less. The map also has extra loot and resources. Profile Stats count in this mode, so fight hard for the Victory Royale.”

You can check out the patch notes for the Fortnite: Battle Royale below. Head to the Fortnite website to see what’s new with the Save the World mode.
