E3 2018: Devil May Cry 5 Coming Next Year; Watch The Announcement Here

10 years after Devil May Cry 4, fans of the series are getting a true sequel. Microsoft announced Devil May Cry V is coming spring 2019. It gave audiences a first look during its E3 2018 press conference, and you can watch the presentation in the video above.

As you can see, Devil May Cry V will feature more of slick, stylish combat the series is known for. Director Hideaki Itsuno appeared on stage, speaking about Capcom’s efforts to make the game’s combat and controls a superior experience. Capcom is developing the game internally, and the trailer showed Nero, as he appears to be using Red Queen, the sword from Devil May Cry 4.

Capcom also says the studio has strived to create “world class visuals” with the game. Itsuno also said on stage to say this is a “true” sequel to the last numbered entry in the series. According to him, it feels better than any action game Capcom has previously created.

E3 2018: Just Cause 4 Trailer Is As Crazy As You’d Expect

Following the leaks last week, Just Cause 4 made its official debut at the Microsoft E3 2018 press conference. The trailer was, as fans have come to expect, appropriately ridiculous, with protagonist Rico Rodriguez causing absolute mayhem,

Mainstay Just Cause gadgets such as the grappling hook, wingsuit, and parachutes make a return, as do vehicles such as jets and boats. Of course, you’ll also be able to leap atop of a car and ride it to open up more absurd gameplay opportunities.

In the trailer, a giant tornado can be seen coming towards Rico and he leaps toward it, which can only mean good things for players. The trailer ends by confirming a December 4 release date. We expect Just Cause 4 will also be featured at the showcase for Square Enix, which will take place on Monday, June 11 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST (3 AM AET on June 12).

Just Cause 3 was released in 2015, and received a mixed reception from critics on GameSpot sister site Metacritic. In the GameSpot review, Mike Mahardy called it a “stunning display of cause and effect” thanks to its destructible environments and toolset.

Gears 5 Announced

Gears 5 has been announced for Xbox One.

Microsoft revealed the game during its Xbox E3 showcase. In Gears 5, you’ll play as Kait Diaz, one of the key characters from Gears of War 4. Unlike prior entries in the franchise, it appears Microsoft has dropped “of War” for the series’ fifth main entry.

Gears 5 will be released for Xbox One in 2019. The game will be available via Xbox Game Pass at launch.

This wasn’t the only new Gears game announced during Microsoft’s E3 showcase, as Gears Tactics and Gears Pop are also on the way.

New Battletoads Confirmed For Xbox At E3 2018

In one of E3 2018‘s bigger surprises so far, a brand-new Battletoads game has been announced. It was announced during the Xbox briefing today but only in the form of a teaser trailer that showed no gameplay. We did learn, however, that it will have three-player couch co-op and 2.5D graphics. The art in the game was hand-drawn, according to the announcement trailer.

The untitled Battletoads game will arrive in 2019, presumably for Xbox One and PC.

The Battletoads announcement today comes after years of speculation about a new game. In 2014, the company renewed a Battletoads trademark, sparking speculation that a new game could be in the works. Most recently, Spencer wore a Battletoads t-shirt during a presentation he made in January 2016. Later, when asked about its significance, he responded, “I don’t think I’ve ever worn a t-shirt that’s been a complete head-fake. I wouldn’t do that.”

The Battletoads series was developed by Rare, the same company responsible for Donkey Kong Country, GoldenEye, and most recently Sea of Thieves. It’s been more than two decades since the last Battletoads game was released, but the franchise still has a fervent fanbase, so it’s exciting to see the franchise finally set to return, even if it’s not until next year.

Dying Light 2 Announced At Microsoft E3 2018 Conference

At Microsoft’s E3 2018 presentation, it debuted Dying Light 2 from Chris Avellone and Techland. It will feature a fluid parkour system in a world going through a modern-day dark ages brought on by the zombie apocalypse. The announcement included a trailer followed by a gameplay demo.

The centerpiece of the debut was choices with genuine consequences. In the demo, the studio showed off your protagonist taking a mission from a Peacekeeper to negotiate access to a group’s water supply. It showed how these two experiences can go very differently based on how the negotiations go: either making an uneasy peace with some vicious law-keepers, or attracting undesirable outsiders. This is said to be just one choice of hundreds that have an impact on gameplay and the world. And of course, it’s Dying Light, so monsters will continue to come out at night.

Gears of War Pop Revealed

Gears Pop was revealed today during Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference. It will be a mobile game that combines the Gears of War with Funko Pops.

The Gears of War series made its debut on the Xbox 360 back in 2006. The most recent entry in the series, Gears of War 4, was released on Xbox One and PC back in October 2016. It has since went on to get a 4K update for the Xbox One X.

Gears of War 5’s existence was outed back in May via a Walmart Canada online listing. More recently, Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista said that playing Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War movie would be a “dream role.”

E3 2018: Cuphead Gets New Playable Character And Bosses

We were surprised to see Cuphead get a new trailer in Xbox’s E3 2018 press conference. The trailer showcased some new changes that are coming to Cuphead.

First off, players are getting access to a new character. Her name is Ms. Chalice. Whether she has any special abilities is still a little unclear. If she does, Ms. Chalice might be able to create some new strategies to taking on this ridiculously difficult platformer.

The trailer also promises to bring new enemies and bosses to Cuphead. Who they are and how they fight are still under wraps, but it looks like players are going to have plenty of new opportunities to try out Ms. Chalice when these changes come in Spring 2019.

The trailer didn’t reveal if these changes to Cuphead would come in the form of free updates or paid DLC.

In our Cuphead review, Peter Brown said the game is “relentless,” but that “toppling Cuphead’s imposing bosses is both a monumental and rewarding task.” He praised the game’s “endlessly charming” 1930s cartoon aesthetic, which “truly re-creates the look of hand-drawn cel animation.” He awarded the game an 8/10.

Just Cause 4 Officially Revealed

Just Cause 4 was officially revealed on the Microsoft stage at E3 2018. It will be released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on December 4, 2018 and is available for pre-order today.

Steam leaked Just Cause 4 earlier this month via a pre-purchase advertisement. The leak came a month after a major leak from Walmart Canada, which revealed Just Cause 4, Gears of War 5, Rage 2, Borderlands 3, and more.
