Outlander Season 4: Inside One of the Most Memorable Scenes from the Books

All September long, IGN is highlighting the best TV coming your way in the 2018-2019 season. Today we’re exploring the time-traveling adventures of Starz’s Outlander as it enters Season 4. While Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are forging a life for themselves in the New World of colonial America, their daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) is still in the 20th century with dashing historian Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin), searching for proof that her parents found each other again when Claire returned to the 18th century.

The future is always informed by the past, and that’s especially true of Outlander, which continually explores how a person’s loves and losses can have ripple effects throughout their lives. In Season 4, Brianna is trying to come to terms with the fact that she was essentially orphaned when her mother, Claire, returned to the 18th century to reunite with her father, Jamie, while also attempting to make a new life for herself without her family.

Fortnite Xbox One Is Broken After Season 6 Update; Epic Investigating Crashes

It’s an exciting day for Fortnite fans, as Season 6 of Battle Royale has begun with the launch of a new update. Unfortunately for those attempting to play on Xbox One, the game has been rendered unplayable for many, as crashes prevent players from even accessing the main menu.

Reports of issues began coming in after the new 6.0 update went live. Epic has confirmed on Reddit that it’s aware and investigating the problem. Its most recent update states, “We are continuing to investigate crashes occurring on Xbox. We appreciate your patience and will update you once we’ve resolved the issue.” That came at 6:30 AM PT / 9:30 AM ET / 2:30 PM BST, and there’s been no further word as of the time of this writing.

This is a more significant than average issue, given that for Xbox players, it renders the game unplayable. After reaching the Press A screen, it proceeds to load but then freezes before you’re able to access the Save the World or Battle Royale menus. That means you can’t even get to the screen showing off the adorable new pets Season 6 has introduced.

Of course, with cross-play for Fortnite now extended to PS4, you can jump in with your account on any platform and return to playing on Xbox One once the issue is resolved. That requires you to have another system to play on, but if you’re eager to see the newly revamped map, even your phone might suffice.

We’ll report back as Epic shares more about the Xbox One crashes. In the meantime, check out all the Season 6 Battle Pass skins and rewards.

Fortnite Season 6 Adds Pets, And They’re Adorable

After weeks of cryptic teases, Season 6 of Fortnite is finally underway on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile, and it has brought some big changes to the popular battle royale game. On top of new locations around the map–not to mention a slew of fresh skins and other cosmetics to get your hands on–Season 6 has introduced a new category of items we never knew we wanted: Pets.

Among the many new rewards you’ll be able to unlock with the Season 6 Battle Pass are Pets, adorable companions who’ll accompany you as you play. Much like Back Bling, these little guys are worn on your back. They don’t have any practical uses–they’re purely cosmetic–but they look cute, and they’ll react differently depending on what you’re doing; leap a great distance, for example, and they’ll hang on for dear life.

Three different kinds of Pets are available thus far, and they’re available in multiple colors: Bonsey, a dog; Scales, a baby dragon; and Camo, a chameleon. You can see images of them, along with all of the other new cosmetics and skins you can get your hands this season, in our complete Season 6 Battle Pass rewards gallery.

In addition to the Pets, Epic has introduced a load of new skins in Season 6. Some of these, such as the DJ Yonder and Calamity outfits, we previously got a glimpse of in the teaser images Epic shared leading up to the new season, but there is also a new Red Riding Hood skin and other loosely Halloween-themed rewards to unlock.

Season 6 arrived alongside Fortnite’s 6.0 patch, which vaulted several weapons and made tweaks to various others. It also introduced a new type of consumable item called Shadow Stones. You can read more about the new changes in the 6.0 patch notes. You can also find tips on all of the new challenges available thus far in our complete Fortnite Season 6 challenge roundup.

Fallout 76 Beta Dates Revealed

Bethesda announced Thursday the release dates of Fallout 76’s beta ahead of the full game launch on Nov. 14.

The beta will first arrive on Xbox One on Tuesday, Oct. 23, and one week after for PlayStation 4 and PC on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Bethesda wants players to literally “break the game” and will not have servers running 24/7 for the beta due to that. Instead, the servers will be up during specific timeframes so they can get as many players online as possible, all at the same time to fully test their systems.

The game is set to be up anywhere between four and eight hours. After that, immediate fixes and updates will be made and that will continue daily up until a few days before the actual game launch.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Inherits All the Best Parts of The Witcher 3

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales began life as little more than the single-player mode for Gwent, CD Projekt Red’s standalone PvP spin-off of the card game from The Witcher 3. But it’s grown far past those roots, and you wouldn’t know it’s a spin-off of a spin-off while playing it. I went hands-on the first two and a half hours this week, and it feels like nothing short of a full-fledged Witcher RPG.

Watch the video at the top of the page to see Thronebreaker in action!

The major difference is that instead of having action-RPG combat where you fight monsters in real-time, you’re playing a card game. I’m sure a lot of people have stopped reading right there, but Thronebreaker’s captivating story and fantastic writing and voice-overs make it a game every Witcher fan should be excited for. Simply put, this is way more than just a card game.
