Destiny 2 Trials Of Osiris Map And Rewards This Week (April 30-May 4)

We’re nearly at the end of the Season of the Chosen, with only two more Trials of Osiris weekends before Destiny 2’s next content season kicks off on May 11. Though you can’t get one of the killer Trials guns for clearing out its weekly bounty this week, it’s still worth dipping into for a chance to go flawless. Here’s what you can expect to win from this weekend’s Trials of Osiris and what map you’ll play.

As always, this weekend’s Trials event continues to the Tuesday weekly reset, so you’ve got until May 4 to earn rewards and spend tokens with Saint-14.

Trials of Osiris Map And Rewards (April 30-May 4)

  • Map: Widow’s Court
  • 3 wins — Exile’s Curse, Arc fusion rifle
  • 5 wins — Hunter, Warlock, or Titan helmet: Pyrrhic Ascent Mask, Hood, or Helm
  • 7 wins — Hunter, Warlock, or Titan leg armor: Pyrrhic Ascent Strides, Boots, or Grieves
  • Flawless run — Exile’s Curse (Adept)
If you can manage five or seven wins this week, you'll earn two pieces of Trials of Osiris-themed armor.
If you can manage five or seven wins this week, you’ll earn two pieces of Trials of Osiris-themed armor.

The Trials of Osiris runs from Friday to Tuesday every week, providing one of the toughest challenges in Destiny 2 for Crucible players. Your goal in the PvP mode is to win as many matches as possible before you suffer three total losses, which forces you to reset your Trials run, or Passage, and try again. You’ll earn loot at certain points as you rack up victories, but the best rewards in the event come when you go on a winning streak of seven matches in a row–a “Flawless” run.

While Trials is tough and most players might never go flawless, the event isn’t just for the very best players in the game. You can still earn Trials rewards–which are currently some of the best gear in the game–just by playing matches, win or lose. The End Game bounty from Saint-14 awards each week’s three-win reward just for participating. There’s also a Seasonal Challenge that awards another weapon drop if you can win a total of seven rounds (as opposed to complete matches).

If you can manage to go Flawless, you’ll visit the Lighthouse and earn exclusive rewards. Opening the chest in the Lighthouse now gets you an “Adept” weapon, which has extra stat boosts you can’t get almost anywhere else. Visit Saint-14 to pick up a Trials Passage and bounties to get started, but remember that you have to spend any Trials tokens you earn for wins with Saint-14 before the weekly reset on Tuesday, May 4. These tokens expire at the end of the weekend you earned them, so get your rewards while you can.

Riot Games Will Record Valorant Voice Chat To Combat Toxic Behavior

Riot Games is updating its privacy notice to inform players across all of its games that new voice chat moderation tools will be implemented to tackle toxicity. The first game to use these abilities, which will record in-game voice chat when a report is filed, is the tactical shooter Valorant.

The studio will store audio data for use when players report those engaging in abusive or disruptive behavior. The data is then scrubbed through to see if anything violates Riot Games’ Terms of Service or other policies. It will be made available to the violating player if an infringement occurred and deleted after it’s no longer needed. Data will also be deleted if the recording contains no disruptive behavior.

Riot said the new voice moderations tools don’t involve actively listening to live in-game audio. The studio clarified that it will only listen to audio once a report has been filed. For now, the system will be beta tested in North America before expanding elsewhere around the world. Those concerned about their privacy can always opt for a third-party voice chat app like Discord.

“We’re committed to making our games better for everyone who plays them,” Riot said. “This is another step toward tackling disruptive behavior across the board, starting with Valorant. Stay tuned for more from our Central Player Dynamics team.”

These changes are Riot-wide, TechCrunch reports, meaning all players across all of the studio’s games–including League of Legends and Legends of Runeterra–have to accept them. It’s unclear when other Riot Games titles will get these updates.

Riot Games didn’t specify how these new voice moderation tools will work. According to head of players dynamics Weszt Hart, the technology required to detect behavior violation over voice chat is still in development. Hart hinted that it may lean on machine learning or focus on automated voice-to-text transcription.

Hart also made explicit reference to the “pain in voice comms” that spurred Riot to think of a solution to tackle abusive or disruptive behavior while gaming online.

“Players are experiencing a lot of pain in voice comms and that pain takes the form of all kinds of different disruption in behavior and it can be pretty harmful,” Hart said. “We recognize that, and we have made a promise to players that we will do everything that we could in this space.”

In other Valorant news, the game received an updated that made some substantial changes, like adding a new map, a spectator-like feature called Coach spots, changes to custom game modes, and balance adjustments for various agents.

In the video above, wWe cover 48 tips and tricks that aren’t quite as well known, ranging from secrets to glitches, some that are pretty simple some and others that are fairly complex. With Breath of the Wild having Because the game has been out for four years at this point, players have found some amazing things, intended or not, that seem to keep the game and its sense of discovery feeling constantly fresh. Of note, Here we point out some secrets in Kakariko Village and Gerudo Town that the developers left that aren’t quite as well known in Kakariko Village and Gerudo Town, as well as strange techniques, like how to permanently disable that cause a Guardian to be permanently disabled, and covering yourself with impaled arrows. With Breath of the Wild’s highly anticipated sequel is still nowhere to be found, these techniques should help you but players continue to push what you’re able to do in the original game.

Video Transcript

I know what you’re thinking, “I’ve watched every youtube video and seen every tips and tricks guide, I know everything already”. Well I guarantee even after four long years of Breath of the Wild being released, even seasoned veterans will learn at least one thing new here. This list includes regular secrets and some glitches, ranging from simple to complex things, so if you enjoy content like this let us know by giving us a simple like! It helps more than you think. Alright, lets jump right in-

1-Hinox’s and Stalnox that attack with trees will obviously damage Link, but Stalnox with bent palm trees will miss Link completely because of the bent hitbox of the tree.

2-Hinox’s that do sweeping attacks with longer trees can be ducked under

3-Hyrule Castle batteries actually work as real intended batteries, blocking guardians lasers while letting you fire through them

4-Only in Hyrule Castle, all champion abilities have a much shorter cooldown, this stacks with the rune “plus” upgrades. Outside of Hyrule Castle, the cooldown is normal.

5-Link has multiple small animations and sounds for different types of things he consumes, such as food on skewers, dishes, rock hard food, dubious food, drinking elixirs or milk, eating raw ingredients, and manually using a fairy

6-You can instant spin attack with a sword by spinning the stick then attacking, but the direction of the spin attack reflects the direction you spun the stick

7-Holding ZL while swimming will give you a different swimming animation. This is a direct reference to the Ocarina of Time swim.

8-If you see a Lynel charging you, either hold an item, bow, or bomb in your hand, hold ZL, and just hop backward. You’ll strangely dodge right through it’s charge.

9-Moblins have a lunging spear attack that has a huge flurry rush window. It’s such a long time that you can flurry rush the same attack twice

10-In Kakariko village, there is one, singular apple that someone hid underneath this bridge

11-Farm animals like sheep and cows conduct electricity . Weird thing is, when they conduct electricity to you, it doesn’t harm you. Maybe its because of the wool?

12-On death mountain you’ll usually burn to a crisp without the right gear or elixir. But can reset your burn timer by spin attacking with a heavy weapon

13-You can also simply douse yourself with a regular chuchu jelly to get 30 seconds of heat invulnerability. This also works in the hot gerudo desert.

14-Speaking of the gerudo desert, if you’re completely out of shade and are burning up, you can use a big weapon, such as a crusher above your head as shade. Funnily enough, this is also walks faster than normally wading through sand.

15-Everyone reacts similarly to you pulling out a bomb in front of them, with most key characters having some sort of special dialogue. But the most special dialogue is with Olkin the pumpkin farmer at night when he’s not farming, which is when he’ll say this- “A Blue Pumpkin?!”

16-In Master Mode, all enemies are upgraded one level, which means there are no low level red bokoblins. Except for one lonely one in the world riding a horse below the stasis shrine.

17-There are three distances you can throw items, pressing dpad down will far-throw, a regular throw will go in front of you, and using magnesis first then throwing will drop it at your feet

18-It’s possible to play Breath of the Wild in first person without a mod, but it’s pretty difficult to pull off. We have a guide all about it though!19-When you run out of arrows in your quiver, not only is your quiver empty but your stance changes as well, and firing the bow will just make a strumming noise

20-You can lift a stalnox with a magnesis chest. They will start hurling explosive barrels out of nowhere at you though.

21-If a Bokoblin is unarmed and tries to melee you, stand still and parry over and over. Your forward parry movement and the Bokoblin’s strange attack angle puts you in a perpetual state of missing high fives.

22-Every large enemy in the world can be crouched under, this includes guardians, lynels, and talus’. Hinox’s can be run under.23-If you have completed the champions ballad DLC, warp to Divine Beast Vah Ruta, look up, and wait 30 seconds for a really weird surprise.

24-Pebblets can be picked up and thrown or dropped to defeat them, but you can also simply run them over with the master cycle.

25-The Master Cycle has a very strange glitch to the rear tire specifically, you can gain bullet time straight from the ground jumping over the rear tire at a 45 degree angle. Now you can REALLY windbomb anywhere!

26-The eye is not the guardians only weakspot, the blue engine at the bottom is also a weakspot as well.

27-

28-

29-At the Lake Akkala Fairy Fountain, there is a massive hole in the wall the developers forgot to fill in correctly. There are several of these hidden around Hyrule as well. With how big Hyrule is, it was bound to happen.

30-Most people know about using sunshrooms and spicy peppers as updrafts, but they can be chained together as long as you don’t directly shoot the ingredient, just shoot next to it to set it on fire but not knock it away

31-If you fire single shot regular arrows at a wooden boomerang, you can completely cover a wooden boomerang with arrows, and even sheathe it, and retrieve your arrows back whenever you want, sort of becoming an arrow pincushion.

32-In Hateno Village, the villagers will have special dialogue and even small rewards when you carry a blue flame. But also the kids will surround you and admire the pretty flame.

33-With certain glitch techniques, Link has the ability to actually body slam his opponents. By thunderclap rushing, pressing B, then unequipping your weapon, or by skew bouncing above the enemies head, Link’s own body momentum smacks the enemy, doing 8 damage.

34-When you exit the scope, you’re temporarily invisible. Use flurry rushes or bullet time to extend that time and look invisible.

35-Cut down a tree, stasis it, then throw some wood down under it. This will allow you to make a fire when it’s raining to pass the time. Break the tree to get your bundle of wood back!

36-If you ever looked closely at your map when being attacked by Guardians, all the ones that have noticed you will be pulsing red on your map. Ones that have lost track of you but are still alert are pinged as a regular red dot.

37-If you land on top of a Guardian, jump then shield surf on top of it. You can just chill here like this, and the Guardian won’t move.

38-When targeted by a Guardian, try and selfie pose. It will sometimes target the camera instead of Link.

39-If you’re ever out of stamina, hold ZL and walk instead, it’s faster than normally walking.40-In one of the buildings in Gerudo Town, there’s a scarecrow with a funny hand drawn face, Risa uses it to practice pickup lines for Voe men in secret.

41-Moblins that throw bokoblins do damage depending on the thrown Bokoblin’s melee damage, NOT the Moblin’s throwing damage.42-Throwing live animals off of a tall ledge will make them… float strangely.

43-Also, releasing any live animal normally will make them run away. But if you hold the animals, throw them, then bomb yourself quickly, they will then spawn in normally. You can make a swarm of animals this way.

44-This is also a technique used to get extra fairies, and you can get a total of 21 fairies this way.

45-When near a cooking pot the game will automatically bring up the food ingredients menu no matter which menu you were in before, because it knows you want to cook.

46-When you find a ring of rocks with one missing for a Korok seed, the missing rock will always be in the direction from the middle of the circle out to where the one is missing.

47-You can disable a guardian and have it be friendly by using Urbosa’s fury, then using stasis. It will simply sit there and look around aimlessly, and it won’t care if you attack it.

48-You can also do a visual delayed thunderstrike on a guardian, by using Urbosa’s Fury twice, the second lightning strike will come 8 seconds later. It looks pretty epic in slow motion!

49-If you continue to beat the Champion’s Ballad blights over and over, you will continue to get unique dialogue and lore for each champion, including some amazing voice lines.50-The Stone Smasher, Boulder Breaker, and Lynel Crusher all have a special property, they are heavy enough to push stone objects when magnesis’d, this includes stone switches, anvils, and even open AND close stone doors. This can’t be done with any other weapons.

And that’s it! Breath of the Wild is a journey that doesn’t stop, and there is always something new to learn, even for a veteran such as myself. Call Of Duty: Warzone Adds New DLC To Support Military Veterans

Activision is kicking off a new fundraising and awareness campaign to support military veterans, and one of part of this is a new DLC pack for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

The new initiative is called the Call of Duty Endowment Medical Heroes campaign, and it aims to honor medics and hospital corpsmen and women. In total, Activision is trying to raise $3 million to help fund various veteran employment efforts.

No Caption Provided

The new DLC is called the Call of Duty Endowment Battle Doc Pack, and it’s available right now in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. The bundle includes a new Operator skin based on the likeness of Timothy Hobbs Jr., a US Army veteran combat medic who is also a big fan of Call of Duty. Hobbs was deployed on four different combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, while he also served on a humanitarian aid deployment to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

“Unemployment and underemployment have often hit veterans hard, even more so during the ongoing pandemic, and we want to support our amazing partners who work tirelessly transitioning former service members into meaningful employment,” Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said.

In addition to the DLC pack, the campaign includes what’s being called a “Revival Challenge” in Warzone. Now through May 9, everyone who revives five players in the battle royale game will receive a unique Call of Duty Endowment calling card. Should one million people finish the challenge, Warzone players will get a double XP event.

Finally, Activision said it will donate $1 to the Call of Duty Endowment for every person who completes the challenge, capped at $1 million. Activision is looking to raise $2 million from sales of the DLC pack to bring the total for this fundraising campaign to $3 million.

“There is a disconnect for transitioning medical servicemembers. Many highly qualified veterans are being left out of the hiring process because they lack the proper civilian certifications, but I hope we can change that,” Hobbs Jr. said. “As a success story and a believer in the Call of Duty Endowment, I applaud the work the Endowment is doing for the medical servicemember community to help them address this growing issue.”

The Warzone “connecting” screen will display banners for this campaign throughout the month of May, which is Military Appreciation Month.

Activision also announced that the oil company Pilot Company has donated $100,000 as part of this campaign. This money will be used specifically to fund efforts toward helping place nearly 200 veterans into jobs.

To date, the Call of Duty Endowment has helped find new jobs for more than 81,000 veterans; the charity is aiming to boost this number to 100,000 by 2024. According to Activision, the cost to place a veteran in a job through the Endowment was $515 in 2020, which it claims is about a sixth of the cost from the US Department of Labor.

Call of Duty Endowment executive director Dan Goldenberg said the Endowment’s social media channels will highlight stories from veterans who talk about their experiences and finding new jobs after their time in the service.

“By bringing attention to the barriers that veteran medics and hospital corpsmen face, the Endowment hopes to solve an important piece of the larger veteran employment and underemployment puzzle, especially at a time where our state and national leaders are calling for ‘armies of new medical workers,'” Goldenberg said. “As we emerge from the global pandemic and rebuild our workforce, the Call of Duty Endowment is dedicated to our mission of helping veterans find high-quality jobs as well as showcasing the value that veterans bring to our society.”

Ubisoft Hostage-Taking Hoax: Alleged Suspect Is a Rainbow Six Siege Cheater

A suspect behind the Ubisoft Montréal hostage-taking hoax last year is allegedly an aggrieved Rainbow Six Siege cheater – who reportedly called in multiple threats to the studio.

La Presse reports that it has obtained court documents that point to a French citizen named Yanni Ouahioune, who has apparently been banned more than 80 times from Rainbow Six Siege for cheating.

La Presse says Ouahioune is being investigated for making the hoax phone call that led to a police situation at Ubisoft Montréal. The individual involved apparently spoofed their phone number to make it appear as though the call came from within the studio, claimed hostages had been taken, and demanded a ransom. Per the report, the incident cost Ubisoft $1.7 million in lost productivity, as well as costs for subsequent psychological support for employees and material damage to the office.

Those documents allege that two further hoax calls were made in the following months, one reporting a bomb had been left at the studio, and another claiming that one of the company’s executives had been killed. Subsequent calls reportedly saw a caller ask for access to ban people within Rainbow Six Siege, and to ask for Swedish Siege professional Spoit to be banned from the game. An Ubisoft investigation into the matter reportedly led to Ouahioune being named as a suspect.

Speaking to La Presse, Ouahioune admitted that he has previously created a site to steal Siege accounts, and had been involved in swatting (in which police are called to rival players’ houses using hoax calls). However, he denied any part in the hoax calls to Ubisoft Montréal, claiming that his name has only come up because he’s known at Ubisoft.

Ouahioune also told La Presse to ask Ubisoft to unban his account because of the amount of money he spent on cosmetics, and told the publication that he no longer participates in illicit gaming activities because he doesn’t want his mother to be disappointed anymore.

IGN has contacted Service de police de la Ville de Montréal and Ubisoft for comment.

HBO Max’s Green Lantern Casts Finn Wittrock As Guy Gardner

HBO Max’s upcoming Green Lantern TV show has found one of its leads. The series added Finn Wittrock to the cast as Guy Gardner, according to Deadline.

Wittrock is best known for his role as Dandy Mott in the Freakshow season of American Horror Story. This is the first casting news from the HBO Max show. Back in January, the show was ordered to series, and Green Lantern’s first season will consist of 10 hour-long episodes.

The upcoming TV series will be written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Seth Grahame-Smith. Joining them are EPs Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, David Katzenberg, and David Madden.

Gardner was Earth’s third Green Lantern–fourth if you count Alan Scott, who wasn’t part of the Green Lantern Corps. While the character first appeared in DC Comics in 1968, the version most people are familiar with showed up in the ’80s and was reintroduced by Steve Englehart and Joe Staton. The duo reinvented him as the ultimate “man’s man,” as Gardner was steeped in masculinity and seen as a parody.

While Gardner has yet to appear on the big screen, he’s had numerous animated series appearances, including a lead role for a bit on Green Lantern: The Animated Series, where he as voiced by Diedrich Bader. Additionally, Gardner appeared on Batman: The Brave and the Bold and was voiced by James Arnold Taylor.

HBO Max continues to build its catalog of original series, recently adding Warrior Season 3 to the service and a revival of the sitcom Head of the Class.

Roku Removes YouTube TV From Store Over Search And Data Claims

Roku has removed YouTube TV from its channel store. This follows Roku’s warning earlier this week that it would take YouTube’s streaming app down unless Google agreed to change aspects of its search functions and data use.

The two companies were negotiating a new contract, but have been unable to agree terms. Roku alleges that Google wants special treatment in Roku search results, as well as demanding extra access to Roku’s customer data and requesting new hardware requirements.

In a statement, Roku stated that it “always stand up for our users,” and that Google’s terms were unacceptable. “We cannot accept Google’s unfair and anticompetitive requirements that would allow for the manipulation of your search results, impact the usage of your data, and ultimately cost you more,” the company stated. “We remain committed to reaching a good-faith agreement with Google that preserves your access to YouTube TV, honors your desired search preferences, and protects your data.”

However, Roku stopped short of removing YouTube TV for existing subscribers. The company said “we will continue to offer existing users access to YouTube TV unless Google takes actions that require the full removal of the channel.” However, it warned users not to remove the app, as it is no longer available to download to Roku devices.

Google has not commented on Roku’s decision. However, earlier this week it stated that “Roku often engages in these types of tactics in their negotiations,” claiming that “we have made no requests to access user data or interfere with search results.”

Resident Evil Village Looks Less Terrifying As A Puppet Show

Resident Evil Village kicks off a new month of gaming in May, bringing its trademark survival-horror atmosphere to new and old platforms. While the game likely won’t include any options for it to be less spooky, you can ease yourself into the upcoming terror with a slightly less-traumatizing puppet show.

As seen on the Japanese Resident Evil YouTube channel–where the franchise is known as Biohazard–the location of the game suddenly looks a whole lot less chilling when characters such as Lady Dimitrescu, Karl Heisenberg, Salvatore Moreau, and the animatronic Angie are transformed into hand puppets. And yes, Lady Dimitrescu is still the tallest out of all of them.

They’re cute and clumsy, and falling onto Karl’s chainsaw looks like it really hurts, judging by all the puppet blood that is spilled. The Resident Evil antagonists even have time to team up for an adorable musical number before the entire presentation ends with a brief financial slideshow.

Resident Evil Village launches on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia on May 7, and if you’re curious you can try out the game’s final demo for an hour from May 1 to May 9. According to an ESRB listing, the game won’t be pulling any punches as it has received an M for Mature rating for all of its intense violence, gore, and strong language.

Now is also the time to be vigilant, as the game appears to have leaked early, and naturally, that means that spoilers will be circulating around the internet before it releases. For more details, check out our Resident Evil Village preorder guide. If you head on over to Newegg, you can also knock a further $10 off the launch price.

The Best Disneyland Rides

With Disneyland and the neighboring Disney California Adventure theme parks finally set to reopen today after over a year of COVID-induced closure, we thought it’d be fun to assemble IGN’s biggest Disneyland superfans to rank our top 10 favorite rides across both parks. We took everything into consideration: present-day fun factor, nostalgic value, theming, and even how good the experience leading up to the ride itself is (here’s looking at you, Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye). Bottom line: the next time you head back to Disneyland and California Adventure, these are the top 10 attractions you shouldn’t miss.

10) Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

DisneyRides-StarTours_blogroll
Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

Every time I step into line for Star Tours and spot the audio-animatronic C-3P0 in the distance, I can’t help but recall one of my favorite quotes from the golden protocol droid and his squat friend in Force Awakens: “Oh, my dear friend. How I’ve missed you.” I grew up with this theme-park jaunt through the galaxies far far away, treasuring every dip and dive and jump to hyperspace. It practically grew up with me, as it debuted at Disneyland only three years after I was born and was a must-visit throughout my life. Its changes reflected my journey through the Star Wars universe in my youth and was the only immersive Star Wars experience available to me for the first 35 years of my life until Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019. That said, Star Tours is a historical touchpoint that extends far beyond my own memories: it was one of the first seeds planted that later blossomed into Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, it spans the eras before and after the hand-off, and it covers the entire Skywalker saga thanks to repeated updates that now allow you to experience one of dozens of different permutations every time you ride. There’s not another attraction on this planet that offers the variance and expanse of stories that the collective Star Tours rides across planets boast. Now that I have a daughter, it’s incredible to see her fall in love with Star Wars as I have, and she gets the same joy at five years old that I experience at 37. So I’m following Yoda’s advice – “The Force runs strong in your family. Pass on what you have learned.” – John Borba

9) The Incredicoaster

The Incredicoaster
The Incredicoaster

I’ll be honest: I liked the Incredicoaster better when it was called California Screamin’ for one simple, admittedly petty reason: the lines to ride it were a lot shorter. Once The Incredibles theme was added, interest in this ride clearly spiked the next time I visited the park (and every time since). But no matter what name is on the marquee, it’s a phenomenal thrill ride. The new Incredibles theming is really well implemented, as you zoom around at superheroic speed trying to corral Jack-Jack. But while the story is fun, the thrill of the Incredicoaster has always been its high speed. It’s the fastest ride in either of Disney’s California parks, topping out at 55mph, which is most delightfully evident after rounding the corner past the introductory diorama, then stopping for a five-second countdown. You’re launched from a standstill like you’re taking off in a performance-model Tesla, and the ensuing couple of minutes is quite simply a blast – including the upside-down loop in the middle of the ride (fun fact: it’s also the only attraction at either of Disney’s California parks that puts you upside-down). The only downside is that its thrill is over all too quickly. – Ryan McCaffrey

8) Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion

One of the most classic Disneyland attractions to this day, Haunted Mansion is still a marvel of the Disney Imagineers’ design capabilities. The mix of animatronics, projection work, and creative use of space makes Haunted Mansion a thrilling adventure even before you’re sitting in one of its cars. Striking a macabre, iconic look while you wait in line outside, Haunted Mansion opens up into its pre-ride show with a wonderful use of space, unsettling distortion of what you think you know, and a rush off to something much more mysterious than what waited outside the mansion’s doors. From the Hatbox Ghost to Madame Leota to a banquet hall of dancing ghouls to ghosts that sneak into your car as the ride ends, there’s no shortage of iconic moments. And that’s not even mentioning the elaborate and enchanting makeover the mansion receives for Christmas, with a Nightmare Before Christmas seasonal overhaul that practically becomes a new, but equally memorable (some would even say better!) ride. – Jonathon Dornbush

7) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad sits somewhere comfortably in the middle of many of Disneyland’s classic rides and concepts. It’s a smaller-scale roller coaster ride with enough thrills to be fun if not daunting while telling a story of its own that is a delight to experience at any time of day or night. When the sun’s out, Big Thunder plays out like a frenetic ride through the Old West, past unexpected corners through exciting stretches and falls, and even into the mountains for a slow-burning fuse of a climb before the ride’s explosive end. And at night, it’s a dazzling, panoramic view of Disneyland lit up like the theme park of your dreams, from the austere Magic Castle to the naturalistic Batuu and more – it’s a delightful ride that acts as a theme park tour as a nice bonus. – Jonathon Dornbush

6) Radiator Springs Racers

Radiator Springs Racers, aka The Cars Ride
Radiator Springs Racers, aka The Cars Ride

Most rides at Disneyland either fall into the category of either a thrill ride or a dark ride, but Radiator Springs Racers asks the all-important question: “Why not both?” The Cars ride begins with a leisurely stroll through the titular Radiator Springs, introducing you to its four-wheeled residents in fun and magical ways that make wonderful use of what are perhaps the most impressive animatronics in the whole park, and letting you experience first-hand some fun bits from the movie, like watching the cow-like tractors tip over after getting scared by Mater’s horn. But the best part is when you reach the starting line of the race, meet eye to eye with your competing passengers on the neighboring track, and hit the gas as you compete against them in a thrilling outdoor race that does a great job of scratching that thrill-seeking itch for those looking for something just a little more intense than your standard dark ride. It’s got great technology, excellent theming, solid thrills, and even a fun competitive aspect to it. Radiator Springs Racers checks all of the boxes – it’s no wonder the lines for it are always so long. – Mitchell Saltzman

5) Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean

Is there really a better way to capture that Disney magic than with the Pirates of the Caribbean ride? It may not be the most thrilling or highest-tech ride anymore (despite small updates over the years), but the all-time classic is both a literal and emotional roller coaster. Pair the serene boat ride (Pirates is also one of the longest-duration rides in either California park) with the charms of the ever-changing environments taking you through the swamps of the Blue Bayou, pirate battles at Isla Tesoro, post-battle plunders of a broken village as pirates sing jaunty tunes, and the ghostly underground caves filled with tantalizing booty in Dead Man’s Cove. There’s nothing quite like this timeless ride. It’s no wonder, in hindsight, that it inspired a multi-billion dollar film franchise. – Brian Malkiewicz

4) Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout

Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout
Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout

It’d be an understatement to say I was skeptical of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride when it converted from the beloved Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. How could Disney possibly mess with such an atmospheric classic? But somehow, Mission Breakout forged its own fun-loving identity and made this classic drop ride even more special. Don’t get me wrong, Tower of Terror was and will forever be amazing, but what Disney has been able to do with Mission Breakout is exceptional. From the wonderfully interactive lobby to the incredible Rocket animatronic, to the handful of different variations of the ride experience itself (note: if you ever have a chance to visit California Adventure during Halloween season, the Monsters After Dark version of the ride acts as a stellar sequel to Mission Breakout, story-wise, and swaps out ’70s classic rock for ’80s heavy metal). It’s truly joyous and, barring a surprise from the upcoming Spider-Man ride, will instantly become the best ride within the Avengers Campus section of the park when it gets folded into the new land this June. – Michael Huynh

3) Indiana Jones Adventure

Indiana Jones Adventure (The Temple of the Forbidden Eye)
Indiana Jones Adventure (The Temple of the Forbidden Eye)

Since its debut in 1995, I’ve made a point to visit The Indiana Jones Adventure multiple times on each trip to the mouse house. Every time I step up to the ropes, I feel excitement swell at the chance to plunge myself into an ancient Bengalese temple in search of the cap and whip that captivated me as a kid. I’ve found that the adventure within The Temple of the Forbidden Eye provides a unique and nostalgic experience from others within the park. From the incredibly immersive in-queue ambiance’s series of telegrams and newsreels to the blooming pyrotechnics and creepy lighting effects and dangerous environments of the ride itself, Indy’s Disneyland attraction puts me right in the action of the iconic pulpy environments – something I tried to recreate in my backyard a hundred times as a kid. But even my imagination never allowed me to come face-to-face with the audio-animatronic stand-in for Henry Jones Jr. The Indiana Jones Adventure is so immersive that I still feel like someday, if my entire car can avoid gazing into the eyes of the temple goddess Mara, something else will happen. After happily embarking upon this adventure what seems like hundreds of times throughout my life, I can honestly say that this ride certainly doesn’t belong in a museum. – John Borba

Some rides at Disneyland may offer a better-themed experience that tells a story or brings you into its world, and some rides may elicit bigger screams or offer bigger thrills. But few if any combine the two together quite as well as Space Mountain. The cornerstone of Tomorrowland sends riders off on a memorable thrill ride that makes exceptional use of both light and darkness, both to accentuate the feeling of speed and also to really sell the sensation of traveling through space. Add on top of that the excellent music, the fantastically themed queue line, and the voiceover that sets the tension as you climb up to the first drop while they countdown from 10, and you’ve got one of the best rides in both Disneyland and California Adventure – and in all of Disney history. – Mitchell Saltzman

1) Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Fun fact: every single IGN editor who participated in this feature ranked Disneyland’s newest e-ticket as their #1 ride. A few folks haven’t been on it yet (after all, it was only open in California for two months before the pandemic shut the park down), but let that sink in a moment: it didn’t just make everyone’s list, it topped EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON’S. LIST. We reviewed it when it opened and gave it a 9.5 out of 10. After riding it for the first time, the jaws of my entire extended family group – eight of us between the ages of 8 and 50 – were on the floor. And for good reason. Rise of the Resistance might be the Disney Imagineers’ greatest achievement yet. It combines cutting-edge holographics, motion simulation, and animatronics with a bewildering sense of scale to create a ride that’s both exciting and awe-inspiring – an instant classic. You really are in Star Wars. As a bonus, there are at least a few notable variations in the ride, so you might see some different stuff when you ride it again and again. I dare not say any more than that. In fact, I strongly advise you to go in blind if you can; it’s best experienced without knowing what to expect. But the bottom line is that Rise of the Resistance doesn’t just make up for the underwhelming Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run that opened with Galaxy’s Edge, it is an instant inner-circle Disney Hall of Fame ride that will be beloved for generations to come. – Ryan McCaffrey
