Dark Souls Remastered Review

When we first reviewed Dark Souls in 2011 we gave it a 9.0 for Amazing. Here’s what we said about it then:

“If you take the time to get under Dark Souls’ Skin and understand its twisted mindset, what you’ll find is one of the most absorbing, deepest, hardcore gaming experiences in existence. But it’s also brutally unforgiving and inaccessible, especially at first. If you play games just to be entertained, then Dark Souls isn’t for you. How Xbox Is Observing Summer of Arcade’s 10-Year Anniversary

This year marks a decade since Summer of Arcade was unveiled, and to observe the occasion, Microsoft has a handful of deals on classic games.

For instance, Bastion and Braid are currently 50 percent off on Xbox One. And Xbox Wire adds that Limbo is 80 percent off, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is 70 percent off and Castle Crashers Remastered is 20 percent off, among other games.

When Microsoft first announced Summer of Arcade, the lineup started with Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. It was followed by Braid, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Galaga Legions and Castle Crashers.

Fortnite: Jetpacks and Shotguns Limited Time Mode Coming

Fortnite will put the spotlight on jetpacks and shotguns with the Close Encounters limited time mode this Friday.

Epic Games rolled out jetpacks in the Fortnite V4.2 Content Update earlier this week. Jetpacks are already switching up gameplay with the added mobility they give players. Close Encounters will shake things up even more by focusing on close-quarters combat.

Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds are two sides of the same very big and very successful coin. They’re two of the biggest games in the world right now, and they tackle the same genre–battle royale–in their own unique ways. PUBG is of course a little more focused towards the military sim crowd, while Fortnite has embraced its silliness to good effect. The question is: which game is better?

We decided to sit down and have a lighthearted but passionate debate about which game we prefer. Fighting for PUBG and its slower, more considered pace is Oscar Dayus, while resident flosser Dave Jewitt is one the side of Fortnite’s over-the-top action.

Watch the video above to see how the debate turned out. The discussion begins with randomly selected topics, and the pair argue in support of their respective picks. Alongside the serious analysis of each side, there’s also some friendly fun-making and jokes at each other’s expense. Be sure to watch till the end to see the quickfire round, which gets a little goofy.

Last week we put the original Crash Bandicoot games up against the Spyro the Dragon series to decide which of the two is the best of the PlayStation platformers, and Oscar Dayus duly burned Will Potter with his hot takes. Ryan Reynolds Teams With Deadpool Writers And Michael Bay For A Netflix Movie

Here’s some unexpected movie news: Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, the writers of Deadpool, and Hollywood blockbuster veteran Michael Bay are teaming up for a movie. For Netflix. Production company Skydance Media has brought Reynolds and Bay together with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick for a new film called Six Underground.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Six Underground represents Netflix’s biggest blockbuster push since the Will Smith movie Bright which was a miss with critics but still a massive success for Netflix. As THR explains, Netflix typically spends money on movies with low- or mid-level budgets, with Bright being an exception and now Six Underground.

Sources told the site that the plot of Six Underground involves six billionaires who fake their deaths to become a group of heroes who go after bad guys. The script was written by Reese and Wernick, who wrote Deadpool 1 and 2, as well as Zombieland and its upcoming sequel.

According to THR, production on the film will begin this summer ahead of a 2019 premiere on Netflix.

Bay is one of Hollywood’s biggest names. He’s known for directing high-octane, explosion-filled blockbusters like the Bad Boys and Transformers franchises. In addition to Six Underground, he has a number of other projects in the works, including the Dora the Explorer live-action movie.

This Week’s Xbox One Digital Game Deals Revealed

Looking for a deal on Xbox games? Microsoft has now announced all of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold offers, and there are some great deals to be had. Microsoft’s Major Nelson rounded this up on his blog–see the full list here–and we’re breaking out some notable offers to give you a snapshot of what’s on sale for the week.

On Xbox One, some of the notable deals include Castle Crashers Remastered ($12), Fallout 4 ($15), Fallout 4: GOTY Edition ($40), FIFA 18 ($30), Inside ($8), Limbo ($2), Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite ($20), and Star Wars: Battlefront II ($24). Additionally, Rainbow Six Siege ($25), Bastion ($7.50), and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 ($20).

Additionally, Battlefield 1‘s In the Name of the Tsar expansion is free, as is the Final Stand expansion for Battlefield 4; here’s how to download those expansions for free.

There are some nice offers on Xbox 360 as well, including Grand Theft Auto V ($20), and Red Dead Redemption ($10). Rockstar’s acclaimed western also plays on Xbox One through backwards compatibility, and it looks even better on Xbox One X.

Men in Black Reboot Reportedly Casts Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson is set to join Sony’s Men in Black reboot.

Variety reports Neeson is in talks to play the head of the agency’s UK branch. He would star opposite Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, whose roles are still not yet known.

Sony Says PS4’s DualShock 4 Is the Best-Selling Gamepad of All Time

The PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 controller is the best-selling gamepad of all time when it comes to dollar sales.

Sony’s recent NPD revealed the news, stating: “The PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller Black is now the all-time best-selling Gamepad in dollar sales.”

Note that this doesn’t necessarily mean the DualShock 4 has sold the greatest number of units of any controller. The statement also singles out the standard black controller, not taking into account total controller sales figures from any other console it’s up against.

While the console itself is entering the final phase of its life cycle according to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera, software sales are doing great, with God of War topping the charts for April.
