What Nintendo Switch Online Could Mean for the Future of Virtual Console

After months of silence, Nintendo has finally confirmed that Virtual Console — a service that offers a variety of classic games from previous console generations — will not be coming to Switch. But that doesn’t mean Nintendo plans to stop offering classic games digitally. Instead, for now, Nintendo plans to launch its new online service with a series of 20 classic NES games, with new games added regularly. As a Nintendo representative told IGN, “There are a variety of ways in which classic games from Nintendo and other publishers are made available on Nintendo Switch, such as through Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo eShop or as packaged collections.”

Valve Tries Its Hand at Battle Royale with Dota 2’s The Underhollow

Dota 2’s International 2018 Battle Pass is here, bringing with it an all-new Battle Royale inspired game mode.

The Underhollow is a brand new game mode available to owners of the International 2018 Battle Pass that’ll be available sometime soon. Since the mode is tied to the Battle Pass, it’s likely it’ll only be playable so long as the Battle Pass is active, much like the two-part Siltbreaker campaign that came with last year’s Battle Pass.

EA Made $5.1 Billion in 2018, Anthem Still on Track for 2019 Release

Electronic Arts reported its fiscal year 2018 revenue at over $5.1 billion USD, a record-breaking year for the game-maker. That figure represents an increase of about $305 million over EA’s FY2017 numbers.

EA credits its financial success for 2018 to expanding reach of its “leading franchises” including FIFA, Battlefield and The Sims, “to more players across more platforms and geographies.”

The supplemental information accompanying EA’s investor call is a little confusing, since its fiscal year ends on April 30. In a slide showing off release schedules for upcoming games, Battlefield is listed as Q3 and Anthem is listed as Q4, but those are EA’s fiscal quarters. That means Anthem is still on track for a calendar-year Q1 release.

The Flash Stalls as the Finale Nears

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

We’re only a couple weeks away from The Flash’s Season 4 finale, but the series clearly isn’t in much of a hurry. Rather than follow up on last week’s big falling out between Clifford and Marlize DeVoe, “Harry and the Harrisons” busied itself with revisiting some of the other loose ends and minor subplots from this season. Needless to say it played like a pointless detour at a time when the show needs to be building all the momentum it can manage.

The best that can be said for “Harry and the Harrisons” is that it made better use of Katee Sackhoff’s Amunet Black than previous episodes have managed. I’ve always appreciated the manic energy Sackhoff brings to the role, but she’s never made for a particularly deep or compelling villain. This week proves that she’s better suited to the anti-hero role than an outright villain. Her bubbly, eccentric personality makes her a natural foil for the other members of Team Flash. Seeing Sackhoff affect a Southern accent as part of her cover identity made for an especially fun moment.

Sons Of Anarchy Spinoff Gets First Teaser Trailer

Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans MC is coming this year, and now the show’s first teaser trailer has come online.

The stylish teaser shows the gang trekking down the road, turning roses black as they zip by on their bikes. A Spanish version of “Paint It Black” plays.

Mayans MC follows Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (JD Pardo) as a prospect in the Mayans, a rival club to the Sons. EZ has just been released from prison and now “must carve out his new outlaw identity in a town where he once was the golden boy who had the American Dream within his grasp.” The series will be set on the border between California and Mexico.

Joining Pardo in the cast will be Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo, and Carla Baratta. Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter will return to the universe as its writer and executive producer on the series. He will be joined by Elgin James (Lowriders) and Norberto Barba (Preacher), who also directs the pilot–which was reshot in July.

“Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller and Mayans MC has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style,” FX President of Original Programming Nick Grad says in a statement. “Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James, and this amazing cast, Mayans MC builds on the legacy of Sons of Anarchy, taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can’t wait for the world to see.”

Mayans MC is expected to premiere this fall. There will be 10 episodes in the first season.

This Is How Much Tom Hardy Made for Venom

Making a Hollywood blockbuster with actors like Tom Hardy in Venom, or Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5 can cost studios a lot of money, but how much do these A-list stars actually make?

According to a report from Variety, Hollywood’s stars don’t command the salaries they once used to in the golden age of paydays in the ’90s, but that doesn’t mean that actors like Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Vin Diesel are in the poor house. Even with studios spending more on special effects and less on talent, a film star can still earn a pretty penny for their work.

The 100 Creator Breaks Down That Long-Awaited Reunion

This interview contains spoilers for The 100 Season 5, episode 3, “Sleeping Giants.”

It took them six years, but Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Clarke (Eliza Taylor) have finally reunited on The 100. It was the “Bellarke” moment fans have been waiting for, ever since the Season 4 finale separated the two former leaders with Bellamy and the rest of the Spacekru believing Clarke had died so they could live. But the tense hour of “Sleeping Giants” was all build up to the final moment when Bellamy arrived back on Earth in the nick of time to save Clarke from getting killed by Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic), walking out from the headlights as her literal savior.

The long-awaited moment when Clarke saw Bellamy again has been been six years in the making on the series (and a year in the making for fans watching in real-time), and it wasn’t an easy journey, hinging on Bellamy and the rest of the Spacekru successfully flying over the prisoner ship Eligius for fuel, and Raven (Lindsey Morgan) and Murphy (Richard Harmon) staying behind to keep the 283 prisoners in cryo-sleep hostage so Bellamy could broker peace with the prisoners who had landed on the ground. Now most of Spacekru is safely back on Earth, with the intention of using the sleeping Eligius crew as leverage to ensure that no one else dies on the ground. What could go wrong?
