During the latest Sega-nama livestream (akin to Sega’s version of a Nintendo Direct), Chief Creative Officer Toshihiro Nagoshi made the announcement that the company has been working on something new, and to expect a further announcement sometime in September.
Although few details were mentioned, Siliconera highlighted a few key details: Nagoshi indicated that the announcement would take place somewhere around Tokyo Game Show, which takes place September 19-23. Whether this would be part of a conference or whether Sega is planning a separate event isn’t something he’d be drawn on, saying only that the announcement will take place “before the next Sega-nama”, which is at the end of September.

Rotterdam puts players in the midst of the battle ridden streets of Holland during World War II. It’s one of the better maps for showing off Battlefield 5’s new levels of destruction, as well as how the game’s maps can change as the battle continues. You can get an early glimpse of the map in Battlefield 5’s new Devastation of Rotterdam trailer. Near the end of the trailer, you can also catch a glimpse of the games new battle royale mode.
The Battlefield 5 beta launches for those who pre-order or are subscribers of EA’s services on September 4, while everyone else will get access to it on September 6. You’ll be able to play Conquest and Grand Operations on both the Rotterdam and Arctic Fjord maps. Grand Operations is a massive multiplayer mode that takes place across multiple areas with changing objectives to deliver more of a narrative journey for the match. The beta will also contain a five-part Tides of War chapter, which–if completed–awards you with an exclusive in-game dog tag when Battlefield 5 officially launches.
At Gamescom, Microsoft unveiled a new Battlefield 5-themed Xbox One X. DICE also released a trailer that detailed how you will be able to customize your character in the game. Amidst the controversy of including people of color and women in a World War II setting, DICE executive producer spoke out to tell players that the franchise was not jumping on any social justice “bandwagon,” and that he actually wishes more women had been included in 2016’s Battlefield 1.

After years of speculation by Destiny fans, some Reddit users think they’ve finally learned something about who or what the Darkness is, via a datamine.
What follows could be considered spoilers for Destiny 2: The Forsaken, so proceed at your own risk, Guardian!
Redditor dobby_rams (via Eurogamer) posted info about Drifter, a new character to be included in next week’s Forsaken DLC, who describes creatures that some users believe to be the Darkness.
In an unusual move, Sony has released one of September’s free PlayStation Plus games on PS4 early. Rather than wait for the first Tuesday of the month as usual (September 4, in this case), Sony has both announced the full lineup and offered one of the games for free right now: Destiny 2.
It’s a clever move, as Destiny 2’s next big expansion, Forsaken, releases on September 4. While you’ll need to purchase that DLC (along with the previous ones) to get the most out of the game, you can see what it’s like and begin to get caught up so you can dive into the new expansion next week. Given that Forsaken has been positioned as the equivalent of the first Destiny‘s excellent Taken King DLC, that’s an enticing proposition.
Further making this timing work out well is the upcoming Gambit trial. Gambit is the signature new mode in Forsaken, offering a blend of PvP and PvE. Ahead of Forsaken’s launch, all Destiny 2 players will be able to try Gambit out for 24 hours on September 1. Although you won’t be getting the same rewards you will once Forsaken is out, you can at least get a taste for what the mode is all about.

This PS Plus release comes just a day after the launch of a massive 2.0 update for Destiny 2. This overhauls the weapon slot system and numerous other areas of the game. Bungie has also shared a roadmap for the DLC and free updates coming in the year after Forsaken’s launch.
Greg Grunberg will reportedly return as Resistance pilot Temmin “Snap” Wexley in Star Wars: Episode IX.
Discussing Film has confirmed on Twitter Grunberg will reprise his role as Snap, the leader of the Resistance’s Blue Squadron, in the upcoming Star Wars film.
The character appeared in The Force Awakens but wasn’t featured in The Last Jedi. However, Snap’s backstory has since been expanded in the Star Wars: Poe Dameron comic.

Revealed on Major Nelson’s Blog, the Xbox One X Robot White Special Edition Fallout 76 Bundle will feature the first white, specifically “Robot White”, Xbox One X and will come packaged with a digital download of Fallout 76 and a white Xbox One controller.
It’s beginning to feel like the ’90s all over again, what with all the new Venom content Marvel has been pumping out. The good news is that the current ongoing Venom series sets a strong example for other books to follow. Not to mention that the changes Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman have made to Venom’s mythology have opened the door for all sorts of new spinoffs and flashback tales. That’s basically the gist of Marvel’s new Web of Venom anthology series. And with Cates scripting this first spinoff issue, Web of Venom: Ve’Nam #1 captures some of what makes the main series so special, though it does face some major hurdles along the way.
The amusingly titled Ve’Nam flashes back to the ’60s to explore the early days of Rex Strickland and his platoon of symbiote-enhanced soldiers. Unfortunately, this issue’s biggest flaw is that it doesn’t actually focus a great deal on these characters directly. The story picks up after Rex and his team have been let loose in Vietnam and gone AWOL. The focus is instead on Nick Fury as he recruits a familiar hero to help him clean up a growing mess of SHIELD’s own making.
Pokemon Go is no stranger to live events. Aside from a messy debut in Chicago last year and a redeeming follow-up last month, Pokemon Go has held more than half a dozen Safari Zone events across Europe and Asia, spanning locations from The Netherlands to Taiwan.
This week, the latest Safari Zone is in Yokosuka, Japan, a waterfront city roughly 90 minutes outside of Tokyo. The August timeframe for a Japan event was taken last year by the city of Yokohama, which declined to hold a follow-up event this year after over-attendance caused traffic problems and delays in 2017. In contrast, the city of Yokosuka has welcomed Pokemon Go with open arms.
