Colonizing Mars Just Got a Lot More Complicated on the National Geographic Series

Colonizing Mars might seem like a far-future sci-fi fantasy, but National Geographic’s half-documentary, half-scripted drama Mars posits that perhaps it’s not too far off. The hybrid series is back for a second season on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET beginning Nov. 12, and while the second season leans heavier into the soapy, scripted drama, the urgency of scientists’ latest warnings about climate change make it more topical than ever.

One thing we learn in the series is that even embarking on the seven-month journey requires years of rigorous training — and there’s no guarantee of a return trip back.

“When they go up there,

are signing a will. They know there’s a very good chance that they could die, and they could not come back,” star Jihae told IGN and a small group of reporters during a visit to the series’ Budapest, Hungary set in the summer of 2017. “That’s quite a sacrifice.”

Netflix’s Korean Horror Series Looks Insane!

Early 2019 is already shaping up to be a terrifyingly-good year for Netflix, with its latest action-thriller series, titled Kingdom, set to release on January 25.

According to a synopsis from Netflix, “The eight-episode series, produced by a prominent Korean Drama production company, Astory, is set in Korea’s medieval Joseon period where a crown prince is sent on a suicide mission to investigate a mysterious outbreak that leads him to a brutal truth that threatens the kingdom.”

For a better look at Kingdom, check out the exciting new teaser trailer below:

The streaming provider says that Kingdom “breaks new ground by combining two popular genres in one series: historical period drama and zombie action-thriller. The show is a collaboration between two of Korea’s strongest storytellers – director Kim Seong-hun whose latest success Tunnel was a top five movie in the Korean box office last year; and writer Kim Eun-hee whose series Signal was one of the top K-dramas in 2016.”
