Devil May Cry 3 On Switch Will Introduce A Style Change System

Recently, Capcom teased that the Switch version of Devil May Cry 3 would contain “a little something extra” compared to previous versions of the game. Updates were promised on January 16, January 30, and February 13, but one of the major changes being introduced in the Switch version has already been revealed on the game’s official website.

Devil May Cry 3 on Switch will introduce a Style Change option, which will let you switch between Swordmaster, Gunslinger, and other styles on the fly. This will be the first time this option has been available in Devil May Cry 3, and updated screenshots show that your current style will be listed in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

“The new Style Change system allows you to experience the action through a number of unique Styles allowing for unprecedented variety,” the website reads. “Level up the Styles and weapons as you see fit and create a playstyle all your own.”

For fans, this will be a major change that will alter how the iconic action game is played. Devil May Cry 3 comes to the Switch on February 20 as a digital release.

Devil May Cry 3 on Switch Has a New Style Change System

The Nintendo Switch version of Devil May Cry 3 will have a new Style Change system.

Capcom detailed this new gameplay feature over on the official Devil May Cry 3 website. You’ll be able to switch Dante between Swordmaster and Gunslinger styles at the press of a button – similar to the style switching mechanic in Devil May Cry 5.

Swordmaster means Dante will specialise in advanced melee attacks, while Gunslinger is more defensive as it lets you attack from a distance with your guns. You’ll be able to level up the different styles and tailor them to your preferred fighting style.

This Style Change system wasn’t in the original version of Devil May Cry 3 when it came out back in 2005. That means the feature is exclusive to the Switch re-release.

Devil May Cry 3 is due out for Nintendo Switch as a digital download only on February 20, 2020. It’ll feature the Special Edition features that let you play as Dante’s brother, Vergil.

New Persona 5 Scramble Trailer Shows Off Stealth, Motorbike Combat, And Plenty Of Flair

Atlus has released a new trailer for Persona 5 Scramble, giving us a new look at this action spin-off and how it’ll mix a musou gameplay style with the aesthetics of Persona. Going by this footage, it looks like a good blend.

The trailer shows off some interesting samples of what to expect, including what appears to be some light stealth, similar to what was present in Persona 5. There are also platforming elements, as Joker and other characters are shown jumping and exploring environments.

There’s also motorbike combat shown off in the trailer, as well as a snowboarding section, and even some social scenarios and non-combat areas. It looks like Persona 5 Scramble will contain a lot of very Persona-y elements.

It looks like there will be plenty of cutscenes in the game, and that Persona’s distinct art style is intact.

The game is due to release in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on February 2, 2020. A western release has not been confirmed yet, but it seems likely considering the success of Persona 5.

Persona 5 Scramble is not the only Persona 5 game releasing in 2020. Persona 5 Royal is coming to PS4 on March 31, and will greatly expand on the original game.

Birds Of Prey Movie Is Nothing Like Joker, Margot Robbie Says

One of DC’s next big movies is Birds of Prey, which stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Given the massive success of DC’s latest movie, Joker, some might be wondering if Birds of Prey might be similar in any way. It won’t be, according to Robbie.

Speaking to Variety, Robbie said the world of Birds of Prey is “very different” in that it is not as grounded in reality as Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix.

“The aesthetic, the tone. Very, very different,” Robbie said. “Ours is certainly a heightened reality. There’s a clear distinction between real life and what you’re experiencing on the screen. I feel like the Joker film was much more grounded. Ours is different.”

It’s also worth mentioning here that Joker will not appear in Birds of Prey. The newest trailer does mention Joker, however, as Harley recalls how her breakup with Joker led to the events of Birds of Prey.

Robbie also confirmed in the interview that Birds of Prey will tell its story in a non-linear fashion, at least partially. “It’s nonlinear. It jumps around. And then it becomes linear for the third act. You go on a ride, and it’s all pretty chronological from there,” she said.

The movie is told from Harley’s point of view, and she is an “unreliable narrator giving terrible advice,” Robbie said. Harley is not necessarily to be believed, and this sounds like it may make for a unique setup.

“So you’ve got a very unreliable narrator giving terrible advice, and an inaccurate account of events, quite often contradicting what you’re seeing on screen,” she said.

Warner Bros. took some convincing for this approach, Robbie said. “It took a while to get it together, and get it approved by the studio. And then finally we got it greenlit. And we were off to the races,” she said.

Robbie, who is also producing Birds of Prey, said in the interview that she wanted to make the movie in part because she noticed a lack of ensemble action movies starring women. In addition to Robbie, Birds of Prey features Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollet-Bell as Black Canary, and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya.

“I love action films, and I think there’s a misconception perhaps subconsciously for people: action films are for dudes, girls don’t really like them,” Robbie said. “Which is just not true. I love them! I know heaps of other women who love them. I loved movies like the Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu Charlie’s Angels growing up. So I knew I wanted to find that, and help put that on screen somewhere.”

Ewan McGregor plays the villain, Black Mask, in the film that’s directed by Cathy Yan. Check out the newest trailer in the video embedded above. Birds of Prey opens in theatres on February 7.

Birds Of Prey will be followed by Wonder Woman 1984, which is set to hit theaters in July 2020. The first trailer for that was released in December, and some new images were revealed this week. There are also 2021 dates for the standalone Batman movie and James Gunn’s Suicide Squad reboot, while Aquaman 2 will be with us in 2022.

Destiny 2: Bungie Is Raising Money To Help Fight The Australian Bushfires

Destiny 2 developers Bungie have announced the release of a new Destiny-themed shirt for next week, the profits from which will go towards fighting the fires across Australia, and saving the wildlife that has been affected by them.

The fires across Australia have so far claimed over 2000 homes, at least 25 human lives, and over a billion animals. The effects have been catastrophic, with major cities covered in smoke, entire rural areas gravely affected, and volunteer firefighters being drafted in from other countries. Over at CNET, there’s an extensive breakdown of what’s happening and how you can help. And now, Bungie is getting involved to raise money.

In the lastest This Week At Bungie post, Bungie Foundation manager Christine Edwards announced that a limited-edition t-shirt, which will come with a redemption code for an in-game “Star Light, Star Bright” emblem, will be available on the Bungie Store between January 16 and January 18, until the weekly reset. The t-shirt design has not been finalized yet.

Proceeds from the sales will be split between two charities–WIRES, which is dedicated to helping Australian wildlife, and the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, which has been engaged with fighting fires across the state for some time now.

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has also donated $1 million towards firefighting efforts, and many other organizations and individuals are getting involved.

Chris Rock Says His Saw Movie Has Humor But ‘It’s Not Scary Movie’

The upcoming Chris Rock-produced Saw spin-off will be a horror film with a “sprinkling of humor here and there,” but will not go to a Scary Movie-level of comedy.

IGN’s David Griffin asked Rock at a recent Television Critics Association press event why he wanted to get involved in the Saw franchise. He responded by saying that he thinks even a couple jokes can make a huge difference in a TV show or film.

“A lot of times I go to a movie or I watch a TV show and I go, ‘Wow, you know, two jokes would have made a big difference in that.’” Rock explained. “I love Saw, but I was like ‘wow, it has almost no humor at all.’ So, it seemed like a good place…good fertile ground…by the way, the new Saw, I’ve seen like a rough cut. It’s still Saw…it’s bloody, it’s gory, but there’s like a sprinkling of humor here and there. We’re not revamping it, it’s not Scary Movie, it’s Saw.”

Rock was obviously referencing the 2000 comedy Scary Movie starring Shawn and Marlon Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall that was a parody of such horror films as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

This untitled Saw spin-off is set to be released in theaters on October 23, 2020, and will be the first new Saw entry since 2017’s Jigsaw.

Rock will also star in the film as a police detective investigating crimes most likely tied to the Jigsaw Killer and Samuel L. Jackson will be playing his father.

We think the “curiosity factor along” of this new Saw film will make it a success at the box office with a potential franchise record debut and domestic take.

Fans of Chris Rock’s work won’t have to wait until October to see him in action, however, as he will also be starring in the fourth season of Fargo which premieres on April 19, 2020.

Doom And Doom 2 Have Received A Huge Free Update On PC And Consoles

The recent re-releases of Doom and Doom II for modern consoles and PC have received a significant upgrade, bringing in new content, quick-save support, and, for the first time ever, a higher frame rate. This update, first promised in December 2019, is free for anyone who owns the first two Doom games on PC, PS4, Switch, or Xbox One.

The update allows you to play a variety of community-made episodes for both games, including Sigil, John Romero’s own recent add-on. These can be downloaded for free from the game’s main menu after you’ve updated. The frame rate has been boosted from the original 35fps up to 60fps, making both games faster and smoother than ever before.

You can now quick save and quick load from the pause screen, too. A tap of R1/RB on the pause screen will create a quick save, and you can immediately load your most recent save from the pause screen with L1/LB.

Other changes include a quick weapon selection feature, improved level section screens, and more options for the aspect ratio and brightness. It’s a significant update for Bethesda’s old classic shooters.

These games (along with Doom 3) surprise-launched back in July 2019, but had significant drawbacks as they required a constant online connection. Thankfully these issues have since been addressed.

Fargo Season 4 Trailer Reveals Mob Boss Chris Rock And A Truly Twisted Story

It won’t premiere until April, but at long last the first trailer for the upcoming fourth season of FX’s anthology series Fargo has arrived. The quick look at the latest installment of the series is a serious trip back in time, as it centers on Loy Cannon, a 1950s mobster played by Chris Rock.

As previously revealed, the new season of Fargo is set in Kansas City in the year 1950 and follows two criminal families–one African American, the other Italian–as they work together to control organized crime. The twist there, though, is that part of their deal to work together includes trading their oldest sons.

Joining Rock this season are Ben Whishaw (Paddington 2), Jessie Buckley (Chernobyl), Jason Schwartzman (Saving Mr. Banks), and Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black), among others. This marks the first major TV role for Rock since he appeared as the narrator on Everybody Hates Chris, a series he also served as the creator of.

As for how much of the season is given away in the trailer, chances are you won’t be too spoiled. During an appearance at the TCA winter press tour, Rock revealed productions is still underway and that he begins filming episode 5 this coming Monday, January 13.

Fargo returns with its new installment on Sunday, April 19 on FX. The episode will then appear the next day on FX on Hulu.

Pokemon: Sobble Evolution Inteleon Is Getting A Sniper Rifle, And The Internet Is Having Fun With It

The latest Pokemon-focused Nintendo Direct unveiled the upcoming expansion pass for Pokemon Sword & Shield, which will add new regions, Pokemon, characters, and Legendaries to the game. It was also revealed that you’ll be able to unlock new Gigantamax versions of your starter Pokemon’s final evolution in these expansions, with Rillaboom getting a huge drum set, Cinderace standing atop a ball of flame, and Inteleon picking up a rifle and setting up in a sniper tower.

Yes, that’s right–Inteleon’s getting a gun.

Inteleon, who can learn the move Sniper Shot and has the hidden ability Sniper, was always the Pokemon most likely to pick up a sniper rifle, but it’s still somewhat surprising to see one of Nintendo’s monsters with a gun in hand. One of the top posts on the game’s subreddit right now is titled “So they just straight up gave Inteleon a gun huh?,” mirroring the amusement and confusion many feel about this new character model.

The V-series TV is Vizio’s budget TV for 2019. Despite it being the least expensive of Vizio’s 2019 TVs, it still has features that you’d normally only find in more expensive TVs like the full-array LED backlight and SmartCast functionality.

The 2019 TCL 6-series is a contender for best image quality under $800. The biggest upgrade from the 2018 model is the Quantum LED (QLED) technology. In addition, the wide color gamut and local dimming on it is excellent, which means that HDR quality is top-notch.

TV Buying Guide

Before spending money on a brand new TV, I’d suggest you take some time to answer these questions first. Your TV purchase could last you a long while, so you want to make sure you pick one that will satisfy you for years to come.

What Size TV Are You Looking For?

Get the biggest TV that your space can fit and that your budget allows. The #1 regret for TV buyers is wishing they had gone with a bigger size. Common TV sizes range from 32″ to 86″. Currently the sweet spot for value lies in the 50″ to 65″ TV size range.

What Is Your Budget?

TV price depends on many factors, including screen size, brand, features, and of course deal quality. The price can range from under $100 all the way to thousands of dollars. It’s important for you to set yourself a firm price ceiling or you could possibly spend far above what you expected. In my opinion, the vast majority of people should be easily able to find a TV they are happy with a budget of $700.

What Features Do You Need?

When you upgrade, what features would you benefit from? The obvious choices here are 4K, Smart functionality, and extra HDMI ports.

4K is actually not quite necessary at the moment; most content is unavailable in 4K and most 4K TV owners watch 1080p or 720p content. However, 4K is inevitably progressing in both video and gaming, and it may very well become the standard format within the next 2-4 years. If you want a TV that will last, it’s best to ride the 4K wave.

Smart functionality is also useful because your TV can be a hub for all of your streaming content such as Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Video, and more without the need for an external device. You’ll save the expense of having to buy yet another TV accessory, installation hassles, and the loss of an HDMI port.

In terms of connectivity, you’ll want to figure out how many HDMI inputs you’ll need. If you have 3 gaming consoles, that will take up 3 ports right there. A soundbar may take up another port. So would a DVR, Chromecast, or Amazon Fire Stick. If you don’t have enough ports you could get an HDMI splitter, but that would add to the cost.

Fortunately, the features listed above do not add much to the cost of the TV. As you get to pricier TVs, the primarily difference is in picture quality. HDR (high dynamic range) capable TVs have higher contrast ratios and deeper blacks for a more realistic picture than can’t be emulated on a standard LED LCD TV. Multi-zone LED backlighting also improves on black levels by allowing LEDs to completely turn on and off independent of each other. OLED TVs have the highest contrast levels and deepest blacks, but you could easily pay 3x-4x the cost of a budget TV.

Do You Have Brand Loyalty?

Traditionally Samsung, LG, and Sony have stood at the top of the heap in terms of reputation. They have a proven track record of offering some of the highest quality TVs on the market. However, in recent years, other TV brands have been able to catch up to the point that I would call them equals. Vizio is one of the best selling brands and their M and P-series TVs are just as good as if not better than most of the TVs offered by the “big three”. Even more recent newcomer TCL has been combining great quality panels with Roku smart functionality in a very affordable package. In my opinion, the Roku interface is by far the best Smart interface compared to any other TV. Likewise, Toshiba and Element have partnered with Amazon to develop the only TVs on the market with Amazon Fire TV.

What Else to Consider?

Only you will really know what level of picture quality satisfies you. Check the TV out in person at your local store, decide what you are happy with, price compare (and check this page), and then make your purchase. For larger TVs, I would recommend buying from a store that has retail locations that allows online returns, or an online vendor that has an outstanding return policy. It can be very aggravating to return a TV to an online vendor that doesn’t have great customer service to begin with. For smaller TVs, breakage is less of an issue and I would just recommend you base your purchase on whatever reputable vendor has it the cheapest. Most TVs carry a 1-year warranty but if the price is right, extend it to 2-3 years. It’s easier dealing with a local entity that honors your extended warranty than with an overseas manufacturer.
