Despite Being Released Already, Amazon’s Crucible Is Going Back Into Closed Beta

In a bizarre move, despite having been released in May, Amazon’s Crucible is shifting back into a closed beta beginning on July 1. The move comes after a quiet launch, which marked the first release from Amazon’s internal game studios.

Crucible game will continue to be accessible for players 24/7, but the development team will be scheduling out time to play with the community and solicit feedback. The game will also still be accessible through Steam for current players. Anyone that wants access to the beta should download the game prior to 9 AM PDT tomorrow July 1, after which you will need to sign up through the game’s website for the beta.

There is no set date for when the game will exit beta and release again, with the post saying “it will be based on your feedback and the metrics that we see in-game.” Players will keep all progress and customization items, plus the battle pass and in-game store will remain.

Crucible is Amazon’s first AAA release and a free-to-play team focused third-person hero shooter with MOBA elements in some game modes. GameSpot gave it a 5/10 in our Crucible review, with critic Alessandro Barbosa writing, “Its enticing characters and their occasionally exhilarating abilities are undermined by the unsatisfying third-person shooting underpinning them. The game’s three modes all attempt to stretch the already inflexible mechanics of each character in ways that make each one feel underwhelming, in spite of their more interesting ideas. Most of all, Crucible just doesn’t play host to the coordinated teamwork it demands for balanced matches, forcing you to look elsewhere or gamble with the chance of being matched with players that complement your character choices. It’s a game that fights itself at every turn, and ultimately is little more than a curious distraction from other players in this space rather than a true competitor for your attention.”

New Apex Legends Patch Addresses Lost Treasures Bugs

Respawn has pushed a hotfix update for Apex Legends which addresses several noticeable bugs that popped up in the battle royale game with the release of the Lost Treasures update. The full patch notes for this latest hotfix update are listed below.

Of note, the hotfix addresses the Mobile Respawn Beacon that spawned in the now-open bunker near Water Treatment. Currently, Mobile Respawn Beacons are exclusive to the limited-time Armed & Dangerous mode, but they’re set to release into the standard modes when Lost Treasures ends. Some players–myself included–believed the beacon that spawned in the bunker was a hidden secret that teased what was to come, but apparently not! It was a bug.

The hotfix update also addresses notable issues with Wraith and Octane. In Lost Treasures, Wraith got a new legendary skin called The Marble Goddess. Equipping the skin caused a bug that prevented Wraith from taking headshot damage when hit in the head–instead, the game mistakenly assigned the less severe body damage to a headshot. That issue has now been fixed, alongside a bug that allowed Octane to use healing items while using Stim.

Apex Legends June 30 Hotfix Patch Notes 5.1.1

General

  • Removed Mobile Respawn Beacon out of the bunker area in Kings Canyon.
  • Fixed an issue with Legends being able to still shoot after being downed.
  • Fixed an issue where taking damage was interrupting revives.

Wraith

  • Fixed an issue “The Marble Goddess” skin not having the correct hitbox.
  • Fixed an issue with wraith being able to get a speed boost by using her tactical, then her ult, then canceling her ult.

Revenant

  • Fixed an issue where if death protection wears off during a revive, it cancels the revive.

Octane

  • Octane will no longer be able to use Stim while healing.
  • Fixed an issue with passive regen being delayed after the use of Stim.
  • Fixed issues with being pulled out of ADS, weapon firing stopping when Stim ends/landing from a jump pad.

Destiny 2 Red-Hot Iron Quest Guide: Get The Forward Path And Fool’s Remedy Fast

The Iron Banner has returned to Destiny 2 for the first time in the Season of Arrivals, and with it comes a new quest to unlock two re-issued weapons. They are The Forward Path, an auto rifle, and The Fool’s Remedy, a sidearm, and both are worth adding to your collection. To get them, you’ll need to complete the new Red-Hot Iron quest from Lord Saladin in the Tower.

The quest requires some grinding to get the guns, but it’s actually really quick. There’s only one step–here’s how to knock out Red-Hot Iron quickly and efficiently.

Old Reliables

Defeat opponents with Sidearms (25) and Auto Rifles (25).

This step is just your standard kill-getter, but your choice of guns will help. First, you want to try to earn precision kills for quicker progress. For auto rifles, guns like SUROS Regime, Hard Light, and Gnawing Hunger are favorites that’ll get the job done pretty quickly. Sidearms are more of a dealer’s choice situation, but three-round burst models like Last Hope or full-auto options are pretty solid, and the charged-up shot of Devil’s Ruin can be effective as well.

The trick with earning kills with sidearms is not to rely on them. The guns can sometimes be reliable kill-getters, but more often than not, you’ll want to soften your target up with your primary weapon and the switch to your sidearm to finish them off–primary weapons like grenade launchers are great for this. It’s also effective to run in groups with your teammates, letting them whittle down targets so you can hit them with your sidearm for the assisted final blow.

Return to Lord Saladin when you’ve racked up all your kills. The good news is that you’ll get all the rewards in one go when you turn in the quest, including both weapons. You might want to turn in tokens for packages with Saladin once you have the guns unlocked, as you can get random rolls for both The Forward Path and The Fool’s Remedy.

Seth Rogen Producing Animated TMNT Movie Reboot

Seth Rogen is among the producers bringing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back to the big screen. A CG-animated feature film reboot, titled simply Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was announced Tuesday by Nickelodeon.

Point Grey Pictures — the production company run by Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver — will produce along with Nickelodeon Animation Studio in the latter’s first-ever CG theatrical production.

Paramount Pictures will distribute the film.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/11/07/9-facts-one-lie-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles”]

Rogen is no stranger to producing adaptations of comic book properties, as he has also brought Preacher and The Boys to life on the small screen.

This animated TMNT movie reboot will be directed by Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls, Connected, Disenchantment) and written by Brendan O’Brian (Neighbors, Sorority Rising, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates).

Created in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles began as an indie comic book series before becoming a beloved animated TV series.

The comics beget a live-action TV series and, on the big screen, a slew of feature films since the 1990s.

The last CG-animated TMNT feature film was released in 2007, with a pair of Michael Bay-produced live-action movies released in 2014 and 2016.

No word yet on a release date for this Rogen-produced TMNT movie.

The villain this time around is the origami King Olly and his army of “folded soldiers,” who have captured Princess Peach’s castle on their quest to fold the world. To fight back, Mario is equipped with stretchy 1000-fold arms, which he can put to use in a revamped battle system. Helping Mario out is a new partner named Olivia–King Olly’s sister–and even Bowser. It sounds wild (cue the Tim and Eric’s Awesome Show mind-blown gif).

You Can Make Your Own Pokemon Shirt, But It’ll Cost You An Arm And A Leg

If you’re a fan of Pokemon and shirts, then by golly, do I have a story for you. The Pokemon Company and Original Stitch have come together to create a line of custom Pokemon designs that are available in a number of different types of shirts, including polos, button-ups, and Hawaiian shirts. Any of the first 251 Pokemon from Gen 1 and Gen 2 are available for customization, though supplies are limited, so you’ll want to act fast if you want a specific Pokemon’s design.

Original Stitch’s designs are pretty awesome, though they’re also quite expensive. The polo shirts start at $85 USD each, while all button-ups start at $100 with customization options like pockets and different collars costing extra. Shipping for a single shirt costs $15, though if you purchase a second, you’ll get your order shipped free of charge. Since these are custom orders, the shirts are expected to ship in three-to-four weeks.

Pokemon x Original Stitch shirts

Starts at $85

Some of our favourite designs include the Koffing Hawaiian shirt, Beedrill polo, and Togepi button-up. Many of the designs are quite subtle, so you’ll only notice they’re made of Pokemon if you look closely. This makes them feel like they’d be great for most formal-casual occasions, while still letting you represent your favourite Pokemon. You can check out the full slate of designs at Original Stitch.

These shirts come just after the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s first DLC expansion, the Isle of Armor, which adds a new story, area, and Pokemon. Our Isle of Armor review praised the new Wild Area and quality-of-life changes.

Crash Bandicoot 4 Has No Microtransactions, Devs Say

After a notice on the Microsoft Store indicated Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time would feature “in-app purchases,” discussion began about whether that meant Crash 4 would include microtransactions at launch. According to developer Toys for Bob, there won’t be, and it seems the culprit behind the “in-app purchase” moniker may be the free cosmetic skins that will be available as a preorder bonus.

Toys for Bob has confirmed Crash 4 will have “no microtransactions” in a new statement, saying:

“We’re seeing confusion about #MTX in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and want to be [gem emoji] clear. There are NO MICROTRANSACTIONS in the game. As a bonus, the Totally Tubular skins are included in all digital versions of the game.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/29/crash-bandicoot-4-new-gameplay-shows-new-tricks-returning-moves”]

The “in-app purchases” moniker led many to assume there would be DLC, either cosmetic or gameplay-wise, that Activision could charge players for from day 1. According to the developers, however, there are no microtransactions at this time.

While, of course, DLC could be added down the line or more cosmetics made available via in-game purchases — Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled did add microtransactions with the ability to buy Wumpa Coins with real-world money after its launch — the developers appear to want to assuage fans’ concerns that Crash 4’s launch will be held back by additional content that has to be purchased on top of the base game.

The Switch Lite is a handheld-only version of the Switch, and it comes with built-in controllers, meaning you can’t detach them like you can on the standard Switch. That said, it’s a more portable device than its older sibling, and the color schemes are pretty great.

For more details and reasons why we gave it an 8.3/10, check out our Switch Lite review.
