8 Minutes Of The Unliving – Exclusive Gameplay

Coming from Team17 and RocketBrush Studio, The Unliving is a special kind of real-time strategy game that injects elements of dark fantasy into the mold of a roguelike. Playing as a necromancer, you’ll use your unholy powers to raise the dead and command an army against mortals protecting small towns and vast kingdoms. While you’ll start out battling peasants with pitchforks and torches, you’ll eventually face off against elite mercenaries and holy priests who are skilled in taking out the undead. But in true roguelike fashion, death is but a moment of learning, and you’ll need to pick yourself up and try again to conquer the mortal realm.

In this GameSpot exclusive for Play For All, we’re showing off new gameplay from The Unliving, set for release on PC. In this demo, we’re seeing footage of the early missions in the game, where you’re a handle of the basics for raising the dead and unleashing them on your enemies. Blending roguelike gameplay with an RTS, each map set of enemies is randomized, making each run feel unique and fresh. As the necromancer, you’ll be able to command units and send them off against your foes. While the common zombie grunts are great with brute force, the more sophisticated minions will be able to use unique skills to topple defenses and take out elite enemies. After an area has been cleared, you’ll be able to resurrect fallen foes to expand your army, giving you more allies in your campaign.

CoD: Modern Warfare/Warzone Season 4 Battle Pass — Here’s What To Expect

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone have entered a new chapter today with the release of the much-anticipated Season 4 update. As with every new season, there is another Battle Pass, and now we know what’s in it.

What’s In The Season 4 Battle Pass

The most exciting part of the Battle Pass is its new Operator, the iconic Call of Duty character Captain Price. Everyone who buys the Battle Pass will get Captain Price right away, though you can also work your way through the Battle Pass to unlock him through regular gameplay.

Those who do buy the Battle Pass will not only get Captain Price (and his character missions), but also a special operator skin, a mission for the Rodin, and a new “battle horn” customization item. Additionally, everyone who buys the Battle Pass gets a 10% XP boost for the entire season.

Players who reach the final tier of the Season 4 Battle Pass–Tier 100–will get the “Nightfall” skin, along with a legendary weapon blueprint, a vehicle skin, and other items.

Ride of the Valkyries

The “Ride of the Valkyries” battle horn item is unlocked at Tier 0, so you’ll get it almost right away just by playing. This horn plays that iconic song when you equip it onto a vehicle. This song was famously used in the Vietnam movie Apocalypse Now, and some people may wonder if this is a tease for the rumoured Cold War/Vietnam Call of Duty game said to be releasing this year.

More Vehicle Skins

Season 4’s Battle Pass introduces a series of new skins for vehicles in the Ground War and Warzone modes. There are five new skins in all, including one for each vehicle. They include “Ambush Alley,” which gives your ride a muddy camo look, and “From the Ashes,” which makes your helicopter look like it’s on fire.

Blueprints And More

There are a series of weapon blueprints included in the Modern Warfare/Warzone Season 4 Battle Pass, such as Sunset Hue LMG (Tier 18), Glacial Polish SMG (Tier 42), and the Muckrake sniper (Tier 76). And as with previous Battle Passes, the Season 4 pass includes a series of other extras including new watches, XP tokens, and allotments of Call of Duty Points.

New Operators And Skins

Outside of the Battle Pass, the Call of Duty Store is being updated with new Operators and skins. Sgt. Kyle “Gaz” Garrick will be available to purchase. You may remember him from the Modern Warfare campaign as a member of Task Force 141. The other new Operator is Roze, who is a former Army Ranger who is on the Allegiance side in the Jackals faction.

There are also more Operator skins, including the “Bloodletter” for Nikto. The rest were not announced.

The Season 4 update also adds three more multiplayer maps and some new in-game events for Warzone. For more, check out the Season 4 patch notes.

The Best Singing Wrestlers, What Makes A Great Stable, And More | Wrestle Buddies Episode 6

This week on Wrestle Buddies, GameSpot’s professional wrestling podcast, Chris E. Hayner and Mat Elfring are covering a lot of ground by digging deep into three different topics and answering questions from listeners. Beyond that, this episode finally gives Mat a platform to gush about his love for cursed WCW boy band 3 Count.

First, we look at what it takes to make a great stable in the wrestling industry. From D-Generation X to the Four Horsemen, there is no end to the iconic groups of wrestlers that have made tuning in each week fun for as far back as we can remember. What are the requirements needed to create a stable that will stand the test of time? And are there exceptions to the rules? And is New Day a stable or tag team? These questions and more are all addressed.

Next up, it’s time to look back on the best singing wrestlers. It’s a practically perfect heel gimmick that has worked time and again for everyone from Honkey Tonk Man to The Rock, and we naturally have our favorites. Spoilers: Mat really cannot get enough of 3 Count, even if he doesn’t remember who Evan Karagias is.

Then, it’s time to head to class for Wrestling 101. In this session, we learn all about the role of the jobber in professional wrestling and revisit some of our favorites. Jobbers are lovable losers and while it’s a mostly lost art in 2020, it’s hard to imagine pro wrestling without them.

Lastly, we gathered questions from listeners. Some are silly, some are serious, some are very silly and we have answers for them all. If you’d like to submit a question for a future episode, just send them via email to [email protected].

New episodes of Wrestle Buddies are released every Thursday. You can check it out on Spotify, Stitcher, and Apple Podcasts.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Adds A 50v50 Mode Called Rumble In Season 4

Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale game, is adding a new mode with the Season 4 update. The new mode is called “Warzone Rumble” and it’ll be added with the newest playlist refresh across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Warzone Rumble features two teams of 50 players, and the action takes place on “various areas” on the Verdansk map. The wording in the patch notes sounds like it won’t be the full map. Additionally, players can select their own custom loadouts, while there will be “quick respawns,” Infinity Ward said.

The Warzone playlist update also confirms that the following other modes will be available in Warzone with the Season 4 update:

Warzone

  • Quads
  • Trios
  • Duos
  • Solos
  • Blood Money

Another big change for Warzone with the Season 4 update is the introduction of new in-game events, including one called Jailbreak that sets everyone free from the Gulag.

The Season 4 update also introduces Captain Price as an Operator in the new Battle Pass, while three more multiplayer maps are also available. For more, check out the Season 4 patch notes.

Netflix’s The Last Days of American Crime Joins the Rotten Tomatoes 0% Club

The consensus appears to be in: Netflix’s new dystopian thriller The Last Days of American Crime has entered an elite group of the worst movies ever made.

Following its arrival on Netflix on June 5, The Last Days of American Crime is sitting at 0% on the Rotten Tomatoes ‘Tomatometer’ spectrum. None of the 28 reviews tracked to date have been positive.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=the-last-days-of-american-crime-gallery&captions=true”]

As noted by Variety, only around 40 films have the distinction of retaining a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes after at least 20 reviews have been collected, placing The Last Days of American Crime in the company of esteemed corkers like Dennis Rodman’s Simon Sez, the 99-minute 1988 McDonald’s commercial Mac and Me, and Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol. Of course, without the 20-review caveat the list of films with 0% on Rotten Tomatoes is much larger; there’s a huge amount of dreck at the bottom of the Rotten Tomatoes barrel with only a small handful of reviews aggregated (including piles of direct-to-DVD debris and several other Police Academy sequels).

Directed Olivier Megaton (Taken 2 and… Taken 3), The Last Days of American Crime is an action thriller based on a 2009 graphic novel of the same name. Set in the near future, the story revolves around a crew of crooks seeking to execute one, final big score before the government broadcasts a nationwide signal that will render the population unable to deliberately break the law. IGN’s review called it bloated, boring, and “distractingly dull.”

Amazon’s PS5 Price Listing Confirmed to Be an ‘Error’

Yesterday, Amazon.co.uk added a number of listings related to PlayStation 5, including a number of games and, most notably, the PS5 console itself at a price of £599.99 (approximately $746 USD). Amazon has now confirmed to IGN that these listings were an error.

As noted by Wario64 on Twitter, Amazon UK posted listings for 500GB, 1TB and 2TB models of PS5 (currently, PS5 is listed only with an 825GB model), all priced at £599.99. At around the same time, a reported 118 listings for PS5 games also appeared on the retailer’s site, including apparent unnamed games from publishers such as Konami, Bethesda, and Rockstar. Several of those listings included a £69.99 retail price (full price games in the UK typically retail at £59.99 on current-gen).

The same pricing across console models, as well as the sheer number of game listings suggested that these were speculative, rather than informed listings from Amazon, and Amazon UK PR has now confirmed that. “This was an error,” said an Amazon UK spokesperson to IGN. Speaking specifically to the PS5 console listing, it “was priced as a dummy product with a dummy price.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/how-sonys-ps5-compatibility-differs-with-xbox-series-x-next-gen-console-watch”]

Amazon will often create dummy listings ahead of announcement events, which can be filled out if and when those announcements are made – that goes some way towards explaining the scattershot approach to what was included in this swathe of listings. There’s some discussion to be had over how Amazon UK arrived at those dummy prices, but it’s unlikely that, if it did have privileged information, it would be posting it publicly before any potential announcements at today’s PS5 event.

PS5’s price has been a constant talking point since its initial reveal. We don’t know any specific retail numbers, but reports have said that it’s running at a $450 manufacturing cost, that stock could be ‘limited’ in its first year, in part due to a hugher-than-expected price, but that COVID-19 hasn’t affected its RRP.

Speaking of that PS5 event, you can stay here with us for all the info, live from the show – here’s how to watch Sony’s PS5 reveal event on IGN. Before that, there’s the matter of IGN Expo Day 2, where we’ve got more exclusive reveals, gameplay and trailers for you – here’s how to watch that (and if you want, you can add the whole schedule to your digital calendar).

CoD: Modern Warfare Update On Xbox One Is 84.4GB, But It Might Be A Bug [Update]

Update: Following reports of the massive 84.4GB update that is only being served to Xbox One players, Activision have stated the the file size is a bug and is currently being investigated. Another GameSpot staff member was only presented with a 33.01GB update on Xbox One, indicating that a fix might already be live. Original story follows.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s Season 4 update is live, and it’s a big one. Some players who are loading the game up now on Xbox One are being prompted to download an 84.8GB update–much, much bigger than most full games.

Infinity Ward warned us that the file size would be big, but this is beyond what we imagined. We’ve seen suggestions on Twitter that the PS4 update is smaller at 32GB, although I’m unable to verify, having deleted the game off my own system to save space.

The update, which was believed to hover between 44.3 GB on Xbox One ahead of launch, is perhaps the biggest patch we’ve ever seen–it’s so big that the phrase “84GB” is now trending worldwide on Twitter. Strangely, some other players on Xbox One are receiving a much smaller download, although “much smaller” does not mean “small”.

One GameSpot editor has personally verified the 84.8GB file size on their personal Xbox One.

The update adds plenty to the game, across both Modern Warfare and the battle royale spin-off Warzone, but it comes at a heavier price, space-wise, than many players will be willing to pay.

Players who feel comfortable deleting all 107GB of Red Dead Redemption 2 to make space for the update with be able to unlock Captain Price as part of the game’s new Battle Pass, so that’s something.

The Last Of Us 2 Director Says You Might Not Like The Game

If you enjoyed the original Last of Us, you might not like the sequel, writer-director Neil Druckmann says. Speaking to Wired, Druckmann said Naughty Dog has created a divisive game with The Last of Us Part II, and he expects some people to come away with a sour taste in their mouth.

“Some of [the fans of the original game] are not going to like this game, and not like where it goes, and not like what it says or the fate of characters that they love,” Druckmann said. “I’d rather have people passionately hate it than just be like, ‘Yeah, it was OK.'”

This commentary from Druckmann is nothing new for The Last of Us Part II. Before this, Joel actor Troy Baker said he expects the game to be divisive. He said he hopes the narrative challenges players’ expectations of “what the game is, what the world is, who the characters are–everything.”

“I don’t know whether people are going to like it or they’re going to hate it, but they definitely will NOT be ambivalent about it,” he added.

The Last of Us Part II launches on June 19 for PS4, and it will be playable on PlayStation 5 later on. It’s followed by two other PS4 exclusives in July, with Iron Man VR launching on July 3 for PSVR and Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima arriving on July 17.

Keep checking back with GameSpot for lots more on The Last of Us Part II. Reviews for the game will begin to go live on June 12.
