Nintendo Switch Fortnite Edition Bundle Available Now For Cyber Monday

In October, Nintendo released a special Fortnite-themed Nintendo Switch called the Fortnite Wildcat Bundle, but US fans could only import it from Europe. As a Cyber Monday surprise, Nintendo has brought the cool Fortnite console stateside. It’s available to purchase at select retailers for $299–right now, we’re seeing the Fortnite Switch bundle in stock at Walmart and GameStop. This seems to be a limited-time restock, as Nintendo’s website says “available while supplies last,” and like other Switch bundles, we expect it’ll sell out fairly fast. If you have a Fortnite fan on your holiday shopping list who wants a Nintendo Switch, this might very well be the perfect gift.

In addition to the sweet design, the bundle also comes with Fortnite goodies. You’ll get three outfits and a trio of Back Blings as well as 2,000 V-Bucks to spend in the in-game store. Fortnite is also pre-installed on the console, though it’s free-to-play anyway.

Typically these deals are reserved for online shoppers only and they are often even better than the prices you saw on Black Friday. Croods: A New Age Had A Pretty Good Opening Weekend By 2020 Standards

The Croods: A New Age opened at the US box office over the Thanksgiving weekend, and it was–by the standards of 2020 movie releases–a solid success. The film pulled in $14.2 million across the 5-day frame beginning Wednesday, Deadline reports, with $9.7 million of that figure happening across the three-day weekend. The film was shown on 2211 screens, according to Box Office Mojo.

That’s the second-best figure posted by a movie since the pandemic closed cinemas back in March, after Tenet’s opening. However, while Tenet’s opening was reported as a $20.2 million figure, this included sales of preview screenings in the week leading up to this weekend, and Warner Bros. has been opaque in their reporting of Tenet’s daily figures. It’s possible that The Croods: A New Age actually had a bigger opening weekend.

The film also opened to $19.2 million in China, making for an international total around $35 million. Under regular circumstances, these numbers would be seen as terrible; by 2020 standards, with cinemas closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they’re pretty good. The film is expected to receive a digital release before the end of 2020, too.

The Croods: A New Age is the only film in the US to cross $1 million this weekend. Freaky finished in #2 with $770k, and the numbers go down from there. The Croods: A New Age was the only new wide release for the weekend.

Some of 2020’s biggest films are coming right to streaming over Christmas. Wonder Woman 1984 will debut on HBO Max alongside a cinema release, while Disney Pixar’s Soul will go right to Disney+.

Harry Potter Movie Director Recalls Stress Of Adapting The Book And Thinking He Would Be Fired

Chris Columbus, the director of the first two Harry Potter films, has recalled some of the stress he felt during the production of the first film in particular.

Speaking to Collider, Columbus said he felt “the pressure of the world” when filming the first movie, The Sorcerer’s Stone/The Philosopher’s Stone. “I knew if I screwed this one up it’s all over,” he said. “You can’t screw up this book. So I had to go to the set every day with sort of tunnel vision in terms of not thinking about the outside world, and that was a lot easier 19 years ago before the internet blew up.”

Overall, Columbus said he was “fraught with anxiety” when making the first Harry Potter movie. For the first two weeks of shooting, Columbus said he feared for his job.

“The first two weeks I thought I was gonna get fired every day,” he said. “Everything looked good, I just thought if I do one thing wrong, if I f**k up, I’m fired. And that was intense. I didn’t let any of that show on the set, there was no frustration; I’m not a screamer, I get along with everybody and I want everybody to feel like they’re part of the family, so I just had to hide that side of my emotions.”

Columbus’ worries were unfounded, as The Sorcerer’s Stone tested very well in its initial screenings, and then it would go on to be a big hit at the box office in 2001. The success of the first movie helped Columbus to feel more confident on the sequel, The Chamber of Secrets, which he also directed.

“It was like night and day, because then I could really let loose a little bit and bring a little bit more of my particular style to the movie,” he said.

After directing the first two Harry Potter movies, Columbus stepped away, with Alfonso Cuaron coming in to direct The Prisoner of Azkaban. David Yates and Mike Newell directed the other films.

The mainline Harry Potter film series ended in 2011 with The Deathly Hallows – Part II. A spinoff film franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, premiered in 2016 and was followed up by a sequel in 2018. A third movie is planned for 2022, and it just recently underwent a big change with Mads Mikkelsen stepping in to replace Johnny Depp in a key role.

Outside of film, Warner Bros. is creating a new open-world video game called Hogwarts Legacy for release in 2021 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as last-gen consoles and PC.

SaGa Frontier Remastered Announced, And It’ll Feature An Extra Playable Character

SaGa Frontier Remastered has been announced, and it’s an improved version of Square’s 1998 PS1 JRPG. The game, originally released in the US in 1998, is being remastered for Switch, PS4, mobile, and PC, and some cut content is being restored for this new version.

SaGa Frontier presented players with seven potential protagonists, and let them explore the game world in a non-linear fashion. For the Remaster, there are now eight characters–Fuse, who appeared on the start screen but was not available in-game, has been restored. Each character has their own goals and ending, so you could conceivably play the game through eight times and have a different experience with each character.

Beyond Fuse, there are also other scenes and sections that were cut from the original release that are being restored. This should be the ultimate version of SaGa Frontier.

The game, set across a whole solar system, was considered confusing by many critics at the time, but it was well-received in Japan and has a cult following. You can check out the Remastered version in the trailer below.

The game is due to release in Summer 2021.

Square Enix has remastered and released a few different SaGa games over the last two years–in 2019, Romancing SaGa 3 and SaGa: Scarlet Grace came to modern systems.

An Episode Of Lucasfilm Comedy Star Wars Detours Has Leaked Online

Star Wars Detours, a comedic show produced by Lucasfilm Animation in partnership with Robot Chicken’s Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, has long been the stuff of legend in the Star Wars fandom, with 39 episodes produced in 2013–and not a single one ever released to the public. Now, a full 6-minute episode titled “Dog Day Afternoon” has leaked online.

The series was announced at Star Wars Celebration in 2012 but was later put on hold, likely as the satirical comedy show was not considered the best way to re-introduce fans to Star Wars after seven years without a new film. The show is set in the period of time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but in the same vein as Robot Chicken’s Star Wars specials, it doesn’t take its subject matter all too seriously.

The leaked episode focuses on droids 4-LOM and Zuckuss holding up Dex’s Diner in their quest to become bounty hunters. With the infamous diner, its robot waitress, and a heaping of Jar Jar slapstick comedy, it pokes fun at some of the most complained-about parts of the prequel trilogy, while mixing in both minor and major characters from the original trilogy.

In the past few years, fans have speculated that the two completed seasons of Detours could be released on Disney XD or Disney+, though speaking in an interview in October 2019, Seth Green said he isn’t sure the parody series fits in with Disney’s current plan for the franchise. “My understanding is that the Lucasfilm plan is rooted in new movies and expansive television for the Disney+ platform. And it doesn’t seem right now that they’re pursuing this kind of comedy,” he said.

Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Is More Than Just A Mode

CD Projekt Red has cleared up some confusion about the upcoming multiplayer game set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Executive Adam Kicinski said during the company’s latest earnings briefing that it’s not right to call it just a “mode” for Cyberpunk 2077.

Instead, it should be thought of as a standalone product. “So, first, we don’t call it modes,” Kicinski said (transcription via Seeking Alpha). “It’s a separate dedicated production, a big production. We think about it as a standalone product.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer game is connected to the single-player game, but CD Projekt Red sees it as an “independent production” with a team working on it that’s separate from the team building the single-player game.

Kicinski went on to say that CD Projekt Red is purposefully keeping quiet on the multiplayer game right now, and that is likely to keep the focus on building hype for Cyberpunk 2077’s single-player game. Kicinski said people can expect news about Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer game to come during Q1 of 2021.

What we do know about the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer game is that it will have some sort of microtransaction system, but it’s unknown at this stage what business model it will use. Regarding the microtransactions, CD Projekt Red has said the goal is to provide users with content to purchase that feels like a fair transaction for their money.

Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer spin-off is not going to come out anytime soon. The last we heard, CD Projekt Red said you should expect it to release in 2022 at the soonest.

After multiple delays, Cyberpunk 2077 releases on December 10 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, PC, and last-gen consoles.
