Resident Evil Village Art Director Addresses Key Mystery: Lady Dimitrescu’s Height

When Capcom debuted the villain of Resident Evil Village, a downright towering vampire woman by the name of Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, they had to have known how, uh…eager the RE fanbase would be to know more about her, right? With her WNBA-shattering height and dominant personality, Lady Dimitrescu quickly became an internet phenomenon, and fans were most excited to learn exactly how tall she is.

Resident Evil fans finally have their answer. RE Village art director Tomonori Tanako released a statement thanking fans for their interest in Village and shed some light on the matter.

character_img-dimitrescu

“Most recently, Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters have received a fair amount of attention, far more than we anticipated” Tanako said. “It’s great that they’re able to take the spotlight as icons of Resident Evil Village. Lady Dimitrescu, especially, has received much fanfare both domestically and overseas, which has made all of us in the development team extremely happy. I hear her height is something of interest….”

“If you include her hat and high heels,” Tanako continued, “[Lady Dimitrescu is] 2.9 meters (approximately 9’6”) tall.”

So there you have it. Capcom has finally released fans from horny jail and subsequently thrown them into the horny wine cellar. We look forward to repeatedly being captured by Resident Evil’s big lady.

Just for the record, here are some things that Lady Dimitrescu is taller than: A Christmas tree, Andre the Giant, Shaq, a king size bed standing vertically, or most importantly, the actual tallest man or woman ever recorded.

Resident Evil Village is out on May 7, 2021. You can check out our Resident Evil Village pre-order guide to make sure you get the best possible deal on all the fancy collectibles.

All New February Bugs, Fish, And Sea Creatures In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

February is officially here, which means some new bugs, fish, and sea creatures are appearing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As was the case in January, players with Northern Hemisphere islands will find very few new critters this month, but those with Southern Hemisphere islands will be able to catch a couple of new insects and fish.

You can see all the new fish, bugs, and sea creatures that are available in February below. Be sure to also check out our dedicated fish guide, bug guide, and sea creatures guide for more details on all the critters in the game as well as tips to help you catch them and complete your collections.

Now that February is underway, a few new seasonal items are available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including a couple for Valentine’s Day. Nook’s Cranny and the Able Sisters are also selling special furniture and clothing right now for the Festivale event, which was added as part of the game’s free January update. That event falls on February 15 and is hosted by Pave, the dancing peacock. Animal Crossing’s next big update is slated for March and will add some Mario-themed furniture.

February Fish, Bugs, And Sea Creatures In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

No Caption Provided

Northern Hemisphere

Fish

No new fish are appearing in Northern Hemisphere islands this month, but a few are disappearing soon. The bitterling, football fish, sea butterfly, stringfish, and sturgeon are all leaving the game in March, so you’ll want to use this chance to catch them while they’re still available.

Bugs

New February Bugs Price Location Time
Tiger Beetle 1,500 On the ground All day

Only one new bug is appearing in Northern Hemisphere islands this month: the returning Tiger Beetle, which will be available through October. As far as bugs go, it’s decently valuable: you can sell it for 1,500 bells at Nook’s Cranny.

Sea Creatures

As was the case with fish, no new sea creatures are appearing this month in Northern Hemisphere islands.

Southern Hemisphere

Fish

New February Fish Price Location / Size Time
Moray Eel 2,000 Sea / Narrow All day
Ray 3,000 Sea / 5 4 AM – 9 PM
Soft-shelled Turtle 3,750 River / 4 4 PM – 9 AM

Only three new “fish” (of sorts) are appearing this month in Southern Hemisphere islands, and they’re all worth a nice chunk of change. The moray eel and ray can both be found in the ocean, while the soft-shelled turtle can be fished up out of the river.

Bugs

New February Bugs Price Location Time
Rice Grasshopper 160 On the ground 8 AM – 7 PM
Walker Cicada 400 On trees 8 AM – 4 PM

Two new bugs are available this month: the rice grasshopper and the walker cicada. Both, however, are only worth a few hundred bells, so they’re hardly worth catching unless you’ve yet to donate them to your museum.

Sea Creatures

New February Sea Creatures Price Time
Flatworm 700 4 PM – 9 AM

Only a single new sea creature is appearing around Southern Hemisphere islands in February: the flatworm. It’s only worth 700 bells, so there isn’t much incentive to seek it out unless you’re looking to complete your collection. As with other sea creatures, you’ll need to have a wetsuit to go diving for the flatworm.

j[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/01/mlb-the-show-21-announcement-with-fernando-tatis-jr-trailer”]

For starters, the cover athlete this time around is Fernando “El Nino” Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres.

In addition to appearing on Xbox platforms for the first time, MLB The Show 21 will feature cross-platform multiplayer, so you can play against anyone, regardless of what console they’re using. It also supports “cross progression,” which lets you pick up where you left off on another platform, even if it’s a different console generation.

As for what new features MLB The Show 21 will have, we don’t have much to go on. The game’s official description says it will offer modes for players of all skill levels. It will include Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty. You’ll also be able to play as new Legends. The development team says additional information will be presented in six “Feature Premier” streams, the first of which will arrive in March. Apex Legends Season 8 Battle Pass Trailer Shows Off New Goodies

Apex Legends Season 8 launches on February 2, and it’s bringing a brand new battle pass to the game, along with the grenade-oriented new character Fuse. A new trailer shows off some of the loot you can claim as part of that new battle pass, and fans of Lifeline and Bangalore aren’t going to be disappointed.

If you’re in it for the skins, the two main attractions here are the Lifeline Legendary skin Bad to the Bone and the Bangalore Legendary skin Radical Action. Those unlock at level 25 and 50 respectively. The DMR X-1 Reactive Longbow is the reward for hauling it all the way to level 100, so if you’re big on sniper rifles, you can start counting levels.

Other rewards in the pass include new music packs, loading screens, quips, and the fan-favorite skydive emotes. Wraith’s portal dive and Pathfinder’s bird swing are both shown off in the trailer, and they’re particularly amusing. Season 8 will also add a new lever-action rifle called the 30-30 Repeater, as well as nerfing Wraith and buffing Rampart. Check out the full patch notes if you want more details.

How Destruction AllStars’ Delay Helped the Team Prep a PS Plus Launch

Originally scheduled as a day-one PS5 launch exclusive, Lucid Games’ Destruction AllStars was pushed into February for a planned debut as a PlayStation Plus game. And ss Lucid and Sony XDEV team members tell IGN, the delay was in part to properly allow for that PS Plus launch, with the added benefit of making some adjustments that might have needed to wait for post-launch updates.

“It made sense [to delay and go to PS Plus] just as a predominantly online multiplayer game. It absolutely made sense to go out to that widest audience possible. And what better way to do that than to the PlayStation Plus audience,” XDEV Senior Producer John MacLaughlin told IGN in an interview ahead of AllStars’ launch. MacLaughlin also noted that the developers have taken that time to prep their backend and servers accordingly to handle the potentially larger audience.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/27/destruction-allstars-state-of-play-video”]

And AllStars Game Director Colin Berry noted how the move was something the Lucid and XDEV teams were eager to pursue. When it became a reality, it meant the team could prep for a launch that gives this new franchise its “best possible chance to succeed.”

“It gives us the most people playing it, the most eyes on it, which means we get the most feedback, not just in terms of raw data and analytics, but we get feedback from the player saying, ‘We love this character and we want more of this.’ Or, ‘We like this or this isn’t quite working how we wanted because the balance of this.’”

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=destruction-allstars-game-modes-reveal&captions=true”]

And that decision to delay to allow for a launch via PS Plus, which entitles all subscribers of the service to a copy of AllStars, makes a lot of sense when considering there are over 40 million PS Plus subscribers by Sony’s last announced count, which gives this brand new franchise quite the built-in audience. But Berry also explained how the delay did give the team time to make adjustments that will benefit players as they jump right into the car combat action.

“One of the main things that we polished in that time period was, um, the onboarding, the messaging of the game rules to people,” Berry said. “We had a couple of systems in for the tutorial that were working, but we knew it wasn’t quite right. We knew we had plans for post-launch, we’ll do this and we’ll do this. And then suddenly, we don’t have to wait for post-launch now, let’s get all that stuff in.”

Players will be able to see just what awaits them shortly, as Destruction AllStars will be available as a PS5 exclusive on February 2. For more on this week’s PS5 exclusive release, check out the latest on Destruction AllStars’ modes, currency, and more.

Jeffrey Wright to Voice Batman in Comedic Podcast for HBO Max

HBO Max has revealed Batman: The Audio Adventures, which is a comedic take on the Caped Crusader featuring Jeffrey Wright as the voice of the Dark Knight.

This news comes by way of The Hollywood Reporter, which also reports that longtime Saturday Night Live writer, Dennis McNicholas, will write and direct the multi-episode podcast series. It will hit HBO Max sometime in 2021 and is being produced under the Warner Bros. Blue Ribbon Content banner.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/23/the-batman-trailer-dc-fandome-official-footage”]

McNicholas’ history with SNL shines through in the cast of this podcast, which is filled with SNL alum amongst others. Alongside Wright, who will voice the titular character, the audio cast includes Rosario Dawson, who has voiced Wonder Woman in previous DC projects and Batgirl/Barbara Gordon in The LEGO Batman Movie, Seth Myers, Jason Sudeikis, Alan Tudyk, Chris Parnell, Melissa Villaseñor, Kenan Thompson, Heidi Gardner, Brooke Shields, Tim Meadows, Fred Armisen, Brent Spiner, John Leguizamo, Ike Barinholtz, Bobby Moynihan, Paul Scheer, Ray Wise, Ben Rodgers, Katie Rich, Pete Schultz, Paula Pell, Toby Huss, and McNicholas as well.

Who these actors are voicing has not yet been announced. Details regarding the plot of Batman: The Audio Adventures are unknown at this time, but it is meant to be a more comedic take on the otherwise very-dark Dark Knight, which is reflected in the SNL-centric cast.

McNicholas is producing the podcast with Angela Petrella and Justice League producer, Jon Berg, will serve as the executive producer. The podcast is expected to launch this year on HBO Max.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=7-detective-stories-the-batman-could-adapt&captions=true”]

While this will be Wright’s first time stepping into the Batsuit, it’s not his first stroll through Gotham. He’s playing James Gordon in the upcoming Matt Reeves-directed movie, The Batman, which stars Rob Pattinson in the role of a Batman earlier in his career. While waiting for Wright’s Batman podcast, check out the first trailer for The Batman and then watch this video breaking down every clue hidden within that trailer.

Black Panther Wakanda TV Show Coming To Disney+

The roster of Disney+ streaming MCU TV shows just keeps getting bigger. Director Ryan Coogler and his production company Proximity Media have entered a five year deal with Disney to develop future projects in addition to Coogler’s upcoming Black Panther 2 feature film, Deadline reports. The deal will allow Coogler and his team to develop projects in both film and TV.

First up on the docket isa Black Panther spin-off TV show for Disney+ that will focus on the Kingdom of Wakanda. Details about the show and its cast are not yet available, but considering the wealth of lore about Wakanda’s history the MCU has yet to explore, it’s likely to play a large role in future phases.

Coogler said in a statement that he is “looking forward to learning, growing, and building a relationship with audiences all over the world through the Disney platforms. We are especially excited that we will be taking our first leap with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios where we will be working closely with them on select MCU shows for Disney+. We’re already in the mix on some projects that we can’t wait to share.”

Last year during an investors day call, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that the MCU will not be recasting T’Challa after the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, which means that the mantle of Black Panther may or may not be passed down to another character–his sister, Shuri, for instance, who has taken up the superhero identity in the comics.

In the same call, the release date for Black Panther 2 was set for July 8, 2022.

Currently, the MCU’s first ever TV show, WandaVision, is streaming on Disney+ with new episodes airing every Friday.
