The remake of the horror teaser P.T. has been cancelled, according to developer Qimsar. The fan project attempted to remake the popular teaser for the scuttled Silent Hills game. However, according to Qimsar the news isn’t all bad, as Konami seemed impressed and offered him a leg up into the industry.

According to the blog post explaining the situation on GameJolt, the 17-year-old developer said that a Konami representative called and explained the legalities forcing the take-down. However, he said, the remake was a hit around the office, and he claims Konami has offered him an internship with the company. That closes the book on the remake, which he estimates that he’s spent more than 180 hours on so far, with a relatively happy ending.

P.T. was a popular demo, teasing a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro to reboot the Silent Hill series. Konami then opted to pull the demo from the store and cancel the project. While it didn’t give an explanation, the timing came just as the rift grew between Konami and Kojima, suggesting that may have played a role. Once it was pulled on April 29, 2015, it was no longer playable if you didn’t already have it loaded onto your system.

Kojima is still planning a collaboration with del Toro, though, with his new project Death Stranding. We’ve even seen del Toro’s likeness appearing in some of the trailers, along with star Norman Reedus.

Hellboy began as a comic book series about a salty red demon with a talent for violence, before being adapted by Guillermo Del Toro into two movies. The comic books are known for being fairly dark, while Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation toned it down a bit and put his signature creative spin on it. Fans of the comic, however, should be excited to know that another adaptation is coming, which should stay a little closer to the comic’s roots and will feature an entirely new cast and crew.

What It’s About

Very few plot details have been released about Hellboy, but what we do know is that it will have nothing to do with Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy universe, and instead will be an entirely different interpretation of the series. Hellboy will be facing a sorceress called the Blood Queen from the comics. It’s also rated R, so that allows it to be darker and more violent than previous adaptations have been.

Cast

• David Harbour (Stranger Things) will be playing Hellboy, the surly but well intentioned half-human, half-demon, summoned to earth from hell by the Nazis. He’s following in the footsteps of Ron Perlman, who played the character in the first movie franchise.
• Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) will play Professor Broom, Hellboy’s surrogate father from the comics. Unless Jovovich plans on dressing up as a guy, Broom will possibly be gender-swapped in this version.
• Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) plays Ben Daimio, a former Marine and commander at the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, where the Hellboy squad works. In the comics, he can also turn into a jaguar in a tight spot. Interestingly, Ed Skrein was initially tapped for this role, but not wanting to contribute to Hollywood whitewashing, he dropped out after learning that the character in the comics has Asian heritage.

What’s Been Released So Far

So far, very little has been released. No teasers, no full length trailers, not even a cast photo. There has only been a poster which was put up as a promotional banner. It depicts an artist’s rendition of Hellboy and his enemy in the movie, the Blood Queen.

There was also a photo of Harbour as Hellboy released on Twitter. It’s a pretty similar interpretation to Del Toro’s Hellboy; neither director seems to want to change much from Hellboy’s comic book look, which fans are likely to thank them for.

What We Want At Comic-Con

Even though Lionsgate has a couple movies coming out, the studio has no Hall H schedule planned, just a booth. This means no panel and likely no major news or trailers for the film. We don’t know for sure, though. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Hellboy comics and creator Mike Mignola has a panel. Perhaps he’ll have some information to share.

There are many unanswered questions surrounding Hellboy but mostly, it would be great to get some information on the plot other than the name of the antagonist. The Blood Queen is an important part of a storyline from the Hellboy comics, but who knows how faithful the adaptation will be to the source material. And, of course, it would be great if they dropped a trailer, but that seems unlikely.

Hopefully we’ll get some new information at Comic-Con that will keep us satisfied until a trailer drops, or until the film opens on January 11, 2019.

Comic book vigilantes Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya are reportedly joining Harley Quinn’s girl gang in the upcoming Birds of Prey movie. According to TheWrap, the film is centered on a revolving group of female heroes fighting against several villains, including an unknown character from Batman’s rogue gallery. The only clue we have as to their identity is that they have yet to show up on the big screen.

In the comics, the Birds of Prey have taken on many forms. The most well-known iteration of the group is led by both Dinah Lance, aka the Black Canary, and Barbara Gordon, aka Oracle. In almost every variation of the Birds of Prey, the group is composed entirely of female heroes, vigilantes, or redeemed villains. They typically take on secretive spec ops missions that the flashy Justice League can’t, but also have a working relationship with Batman and all of his immediate allies, like Nightwing and Red Robin.

Just as the Birds of Prey group has evolved and changed over time, so have the four characters confirmed to feature in the film. Take these character descriptions with a grain of salt, as they might be spot on for the movie depiction, partially right, or completely wrong.

Black Canary is a metahuman with a supersonic scream. She also happens to be one of the best martial artists in DC Comics, holding her own against the likes of Bronze Tiger, Deathstroke, and even Batman. Although her activities as leader of the Birds of Prey have her teaming up with Batman a lot, in the comics Dinah is usually associated with and married to Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, and is an adoptive mother figure to Arrow’s sidekicks, Arsenal and Speedy. Helena Bertinelli, aka Huntress, is a masked vigilante who uses a crossbow. She used to be a member of the Justice League, but was kicked out after Batman had to forcibly stop her from killing a criminal.

Like Canary, Cassandra Cain is a formidable martial artist. Growing up, Cassandra was kept completely isolated in a dark room and only interacted with her master who taught her how to fight. She never learned to speak but can immediately discern someone’s attack from the smallest movement. After showing an unwillingness to kill, Cassandra was abandoned by her master, but she was eventually taken in by Batman and Oracle and trained as Barbara’s replacement as the next Batgirl. Renee Montoya is best known as one of DC Comics’ most prominent openly lesbian characters. She’s a detective who recently became a masked crimefighter after adopting the Question persona.

Birds of Prey is set to be directed by Cathy Yan, which would make her the third female filmmaker to join the DC Cinematic Universe and first Asian woman to ever direct a DC Comics film. The script for Birds of Prey is being written by Christina Hodson, who is also writing the script for Batgirl and did write the story behind the upcoming Bumblebee. Though it hasn’t been confirmed whether Barbara Gordon will be in Birds of Prey, Cassandra Cain’s inclusion in the film hints that Barbara might meet an unfortunate fate at the end of Batgirl.
