Avengers: Infinity War’s Thanos Comes To Fortnite – GameSpot Daily

The big bad of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is coming to Fortnite in a limited-time mode, while a Battle Royale-like mod comes to GTA 5.

Avengers: Infinity War is the biggest movie in the world right now, so it’s kinda fitting that it would do a crossover with one of the biggest games in the world. Fortnite is about to kick off an “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup,” which is a standard 100-person battle royale match that gives players the opportunity to turn into Thanos himself.

The mashup came to be as Infinity War director Joe Russo talked about how he and the team would take breaks during editing the movie to play Fortnite: Battle Royale. So he gave Epic Games a call, and the rest is history. Yes, that’s our headlining story for today, but this is GameSpot Daily, and we’ve got a bunch of other stories coming at you in 30 minutes or less.

Speaking of battle royale, modder Theaetik made a mod for Grand Theft Auto 5 that combines “roguelites and battle royale elements.” You have to move from zone-to-zone, while battling AI enemies. Defeating the AI can earn you kill streaks and a higher score. There are also a bunch of power-ups, including teleportation and slow-mo. We go more in-depth with the mod in the video above.

In other news, Nintendo has commented on whether it thinks the Switch can surpass the Wii’s astronomical sales. Nintendo doesn’t believe the benchmark for the Switch is to pass the Wii; instead, it’s whether the company can “adapt and respond to changes in the market and strive to continue selling Nintendo Switch as long as possible.” Nintendo also talked about its expectations for the Switch’s second year, and we go into all of that in today’s episode.

And last but definitely not least, Rockstar has released a bunch of new screenshots of Red Dead Redemption 2, some of which feature the first game’s beloved protagonist John Marston. The developer also announced when we’ll hear about “special editions” and more.

Because other companies own the rights to some of Marvel’s properties, characters from all across the Marvel universe have been featured in twice as many films as DC. This includes characters from The Avengers, Spider-Man, the X-Men, and more. Here are how all those films did in the box office, in order by worldwide totals, adjusted for inflation.

Grand Theft Auto V has a whole new way to play that’s sure to appeal to PUBG and Fortnite fans, thanks to modder Theaetik. Theaetik has created Complex Control, which transforms the game into a single-player battle royale/roguelite shooter. It’s available now on PC, and promises “high replayability and variety…it feels as though there’s always something new to experience every run.”

Complex Control features 70 unique characters with color-matched weapons and vehicles. It tasks the player with controlling and surviving a deadly zone populated with AI parachuting from the sky or driving right towards you. There are more than 50 unique abilities (with cooldowns), and players can choose from a pre-made set of characters with their own weapons, abilities, and vehicles as they try to survive. You progress your own character until they die or until you trade them.

The mod promises a fast, frantic experience. Move speed is boosted and you get in and out of vehicles more quickly. Theaetik says it isn’t just a GTA5 copy of existing battle royale experiences; the combination of abilities and roguelite elements, like procedural gameplay, permadeath, and permanent progression, seek to set it apart. It also has its own save system independent of the core GTA5 experience.

Rainbow Six Siege is quickly approaching its second season of Year 3, and Ubisoft has teased some of the new features it will have in store for players. Ahead of its full reveal next week, the publisher shared some details about the game’s next big update, Operation Para Bellum, which will introduce new Operators, a Pick & Ban system, and more on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Headlining Operation Para Bellum are two new Operators. Ubisoft still hasn’t shared many details about them just yet, but the publisher did reveal that they will both be Defenders. That stands in contrast to Siege’s most recent pair of Operators, Lion and Finka, both of whom are Attackers. Fans recently discovered files for two Italian Operators named Alibi and Maestro within the PC version, although whether those will turn out to be the new Operators in question remains to be seen.

In addition to the new Operators, Season 2 introduces the aforementioned Pick & Ban system. As its name implies, this feature gives players the ability to counter opponents by banning certain Operators from play, which Ubisoft says will provide “an extra layer of strategy between teams.”

Finally, Season 2 will bring with it a new map, intel gadget, and a number of gameplay tweaks. In particular, Ubisoft is adjusting dropshotting and introducing a new counter defuser animation. The full reveal of Season 2 will take place on May 19-20 during the Rainbox Six Siege Pro League Finals, which will be streamed on the game’s Twitch channel. Siege’s most recent update, 1.2, arrived last week on all platforms. It didn’t introduce any new features to the game, but it did make some big balance changes, particularly to Lion, who many players felt was overpowered. Ubisoft also adjusted damage dealt by light machine guns and fixed a variety of bugs. You can see the full list of changes that update made on the Siege website.

PC gamers don’t have to spend a bundle to play some great games this week. Steam’s regular week-long sale features some fantastic games from the past decade or two of hits. Many of the games are on sale for 75% off, making this the perfect time to jump in on an overlooked modern classic. The sale ends May 13, so grab what you want before then.

You can fight crime in a locked-down Gotham City in Batman: Arkham Knight for just $7/£5. You can micromanage characters of your own creation in The Sims 3 for $5/£6 or go on a sweeping fantasy adventure in Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Collection for $7/£3. Perhaps you’d rather learn about fixing up automobiles in Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 for $14/£10.

Several whole series of games are also on sale this week on Steam. For starters, the Far Cry games are on sale for 60% off, bringing the prices down to between $4/£3 and $20/£16 (unfortunately, Far Cry 5 isn’t included in the sale). The Mass Effect and Crysis series are also on sale.
