PUBG‘s new map, Savage, hit test servers earlier this week on PC, and offers players a different kind of battle royale gameplay. The map is 4 km x 4 km, smaller than the game’s existing maps, and promises a more close-quarters, faster combat experience. So what are our early impressions of Savage? Watch the video above to see what Jake and Nick have to say about Savage and how it stacks up against PUBG’s two existing maps.

While Savage is still in the testing phase and much of it isn’t finished, it’s clear the game offers you the chance to jump right into the action in the temple or resort areas. Here, you’ll get into a gunfight right away. Players can still opt to take a slower approach to the action, starting further out and slowly picking off other players as The Circle closes in. All-in-all, Savage seems to provide the shorter, more intense matches that PUBG has been promising, and feels more comparable to Fortnite that the game’s other two maps.

Codes to try Savage are currently no longer available, but developer PUBG Corp. is promising there are more on their way, so you can keep checking the beta site for your chance to play. There’s no indication when exactly the new map will go live for all players, just that we can expect it some time during 2018. It was originally only open for Solo play, but PUBG Corp. opened it up to Squads in the middle of the week.

In other PUBG news, the game’s developer recently unveiled a new War mode, which is essentially a ‘team deathmatch’ mode that brings more fast-paced gameplay. PUBG’s latest event mode has also begun–Tequila Sunrise pits players against each other in close quarter combat with shotguns and melee weapons as the weapons of choice.

Like many open-world games, Far Cry 5 features a day/night cycle. Due to an unfortunate bug, however, a large number of players have found their game world plunged into a never-ending darkness.

The issue has affected some of us here at GameSpot; we’re stuck permanently playing the game at night, which just isn’t ideal–it can be awfully hard to see anything. This problem led to a sizable forum thread on Ubisoft’s support site, where numerous players have shared similar stories. Some believe this occurs following the mission The Cleansing, though it’s unclear if this is the sole cause. It’s also not guaranteed to happen, as not everyone is affected.

Ubisoft has acknowledged the problem in the forum thread, but this problem has continued for over a week with no sign of an official fix. Players on all platforms–PS4, Xbox One, and PC–appear to be affected. A new update has just been released on PC and is on its way to consoles on April 9, but early reports suggest it doesn’t fix the problem. The patch notes don’t specifically mention it, though unspecified bugs are addressed.

Some players have reported that killing a boss or joining a co-op session can break the nighttime lock, but it doesn’t seem to be a foolproof measure. We’re testing this on PS4 and will report back with our findings.

In the meantime, as we await a fix, check out the newest episode of Potato Mode, which shows just how bad Far Cry 5’s graphics can be (when you can actually see anything, that is).

If movies based on video games are more your style, you can go for Assassin’s Creed and the 2015 version of Hitman.

The “three for $50” offer contains movies that originally retail for higher prices, like Wonder Woman, It, Kong: Skull Island, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Best Picture nominee Dunkirk. For DC comic fans, you can select movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Watchmen, and Suicide Squad. And if you want to explore some gritty classics in 4K, you can go for Blade Runner: The Final Cut or Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

Even if you’re not interested in enough movies to take advantage of the offers, each movie is on sale for $20. That gives you a savings of between a $3 and $15, depending on the movie. Here are those links again.

It’s not the weekend yet, but the Humble Store just kicked off a weekend sale it’s calling the “Festival of Speed.” To celebrate games that let you go fast, the store is dropping prices on a number of the biggest racing games on the market. The discounts vary, but they go up to 80% off.

Last year’s Dirt 4 got one of the bigger price drops, down to $18. This is a challenging, realistic game that puts you on dangerous dirt roads and makes you react to your co-driver’s instructions from the passenger seat. It’s more newcomer-friendly than the also-excellent Dirt Rally, which is on sale for $12.

Racing games set on asphalt roads are on sale as well, including Assetto Corsa, which got a price drop to $12, and Project Cars 2, which is for half off at $30. Formula 1 fans will be pleased to see F1 2017 also got a big price cut to $18. Many games on the list are part of a series, and in some cases the entire series is on sale. You can grab some older installments for just $3 or $4.

If you’d rather race motorcycles, you have plenty of options on that front, too. MotoGP 17 is down to $15, while TT Isle of Man will cost you $36. Valentino Rossi is down 80% to $10 as well. On the stunt motorcycle racing side of things, MXGP3 – The Official Motocross Videogame is $15, while Monster Energy Supercross is $35.

On top of all of these game deals, many of the expansion packs are also on sale. So if you’ve been holding off on buying vehicle packs for one of the games above, take a look to see if they’re on sale too.

Blessed be our New Founding Fathers for letting us purge and cleanse our souls with a trailer for the next entry in this insane movie franchise. The first full trailer for The First Purge, a prequel that revisits the creation of the lawless evening, has arrived and it gives a seriously twisted history lesson.

As it turns out, Dr. May Updale (Marisa Tomei) is the mind behind the Purge, which she deems a “psychological” device. “If we want to save our country, we must release all of our anger in one night,” she reasons.

Unlike the first three movies, in which the annual Purge is a nationwide affair, The First Purge keeps the events of the night localized in Staten Island, New York on a trial basis. As the trailer explains, though, when the citizens refuse to participate, former members of the military are sent in to rile things up and coax the locals into fighting back. With no police to help and trained killers trying to destroy your city, it seems as if there is no other choice but to join in the Purge if only to survive.

Along with Tomei, the case of the new film includes Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, and Luna Lauren Velez. The First Purge hits theaters, appropriately, on July 4. Blessed be America, a nation reborn.
