Abandoned, the mysterious indie horror game that’s kickstarted an internet rumor mill in recent weeks, is currently billed as a PS5-exclusive. But developer Blue Box Studios has confirmed it will also be coming to PC “eventually.”

The studio has acknowledged a PC release in a number of replies to tweets at the official account in the last few days, most specifically this tweet in reply to a person asking if Abandoned was coming to PC. Blue Box simply replied “eventually.”

That’s the extent of the details we have, and we still don’t have a window for its initially exclusive PS5 release beyond “later this year.” Earlier this month, Blue Box suggested it would be announcing a release date alongside the unveiling of a PS5 app that would showcase realtime trailers and gameplay reveals. The app reveal date got delayed slightly and is set to launch June 25; however, Blue Box has deleted the tweet in which it promised a release date and has not mentioned a release date announcement since.

Abandoned and its studio Blue Box have been at the center of a wild internet rumor mill lately suggesting that the game has ties to Silent Hill, Konami, or Hideo Kojima. Blue Box has denied these rumors multiple times, with both Geoff Keighley and IGN’s own investigations supporting the denial.

We do know that Abandoned is just a code name for the game, and that Blue Box is a real studio based in The Netherlands headed up by CEO Hasan Kahraman, with a team of over 50 people. Blue Box has had two previous titles, one that never left Steam Greenlight, and another that was sold off to another company while still in Early Access. It’s been working with Sony since 2015 on Abandoned, and revealed a teaser for the game earlier this year. Gameplay is expected to be shown at a later date this year, alongside further game info that will hopefully put the rumors to rest for good.

A Final Fantasy 9 animated series is currently under development, Kidscreen reports. It will reportedly be co-developed with Square Enix by French studio Cyber Group Studios, with Cyber Group also handling distribution, licensing, and merchandise.

Episode count and length have not been finalized, Cyber Group Studios CEO Pierre Sissmann says in the report. However, it will be in production by the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022, and will reportedly be aimed toward children between the ages of eight and 13. According to Sissmann, Cyber Group Studios is currently putting the final touches on the series bible and is getting ready to pitch it to broadcasters.

Originally released in 2000 for the PlayStation, Final Fantasy 9 has grown into one of the most popular games in the series. It’s lauded for its storytelling and its sense of humor, with Vivi — a Black Mage in the midst of an existential crisis — a particular favorite. We gave it a 9.2 in our original review.

Cyber Group Studios is a Paris-based developer and distributor of children’s television. Its stable includes Mini Ninjas, as well as adaptations of Zorro and Tom Sawyer.

According to Kidscreen, Cyber Group Studios was attracted by Final Fantasy’s overall popularity, with more than 154 million copies sold worldwide, and the potential to expand the studio’s brand. In the report, Sissmann says the series will be geared toward both fans and newcomers to the series.

Warner Bros. and New Line’s upcoming Black Adam movie will see members of the Justice Society of America take the screen alongside Dwayne Johnson’s anti-hero, including Pierce Brosnan as the mystical Doctor Fate. With production well underway, Brosnan has provided some insight into how his character will be realized on-screen, stating that he has been wearing a motion-capture suit for the role.

“I do have to put the motion-capture suit on, which is an acting challenge in itself,” Brosnan stated in a video for People (via Black Adam News). “Luckily I was brought up in the theater, so I know how to get into tights.”

Motion-capture technology is a fairly common tool for modern superhero movies. Many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s costumes are created digitally, including Spider-Man and Iron Man. While there are still plenty of practical costumes being used in superhero movies, the look of a digital outfit could be fitting for a character with magical powers like Doctor Fate.

Along with Doctor Fate, the Black Adam movie will feature other members of the Justice Society of America, including Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

Black Adam is the next New Line/DC film production after 2019’s Shazam! Johnson was originally slated to appear in Shazam! as a villain, though the project was reworked to give the star his own solo film. In other superhero costume news, director David F. Sandberg recently unveiled the costumes that will be worn by the heroes in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Black Adam has nearly completed principal photography. The movie is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.

There’s a regular ole’ door that can insta-kill you in Call of Duty: Warzone following the game’s recent update for Season 4.

Activision’s popular battle royale received its Season 4 update last week and it brought with it a new Gulag, new limited-time events, a Zombies Outbreak region, and more. It also made an otherwise boring door a stone-cold killer.

This news comes by way of Kotaku, which reports that this mysterious killer door can be found in the Salt Mine area on the recently-revamped Verdansk map in Warzone. It is, by all accounts, just a standard door, not at all unlike the hundreds of other doors found on the map.

However, if a player gets too close to the door, it will instantly down you. Redditor Rxelik seemingly discoverd the bug first and posted a video showcasing what happens when a player gets too close to the door on the official Warzone subreddit. Getting killed by the door is as easy as it sounds: get close to it and you will immediately drop into the battle roylale’s bleeding-out stance.

Because it doesn’t completely kill you, a teammate can revive you, but the downed player will need to drop back away from the door to avoid a deadly door cycle.

Players on the subreddit are trying to determine what might be happening — Rxelik, who discovered the killing door, is wondering if the door was previously a door that opened before the update. It’s not currently an openable door at the moment and redditor JoPOWz responded to Rxelik and said that perhaps the deadly door and the openable door that was previously there swtiched locations.

Some players think this might have to do with the new red doors introduced to the game with this update, which act as a fast travel-like system that allows players to enter through a red door in one location and exit in a different location.

Considering this door can take a player with full armor and health down in an instant, this door is now in the running for best player in Warzone. If this door isn’t careful, though, it’s likely to join the 500,000 Warzone cheaters who have been banned from the game since its launch last year.

None of the development teams behind Warzone like co-developer Raven Software have addressed this door at the time of this writing. Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg has officially unveiled the new costumes worn by the heroes in the DC Comics sequel.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Sandberg opted to get ahead of any potential leakers by offering fans a first look at the Shazam Family’s new suits. The photo spotlights Zachary Levi’s titular hero, together with Adam Brody’s Freddy Freeman, Meagan Good’s Darla Dudley, Ross Butler’s Eugene Choi, Michelle Borth’s Mary Bromfield, and D.J. Cotrona’s Pedro Peña.

The latest reveal comes shortly after Sandberg shared a teaser of Levi’s Shazam costume in a video he posted on social media. As glimpsed in the brief clip, the outfit features more gold accents and a sleeker look, particularly around the boots and wrists, with the rest of the suits also appearing more refined. The Shazam Family’s lightning bolt chest logo is also slightly altered to match the overall ensemble.

The Shazam sequel, officially titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods, will once again follow the adventures of teenager Billy Baston who is able to transform into Shazam by saying his name. While plot specifics are scarce, the title suggests we’ll be learning much more about the six gods who bestowed their powers upon the youngster.

The post-credits scene for the first Shazam movie saw the villain Doctor Sivana meet an alien named Master Mind, but it’s currently unknown whether this plotline will play into Fury of the Gods. Regardless of what happens with that, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu have joined the cast as two new villains alongside Rachel Zegler who “may or may not be of ill intent,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

No doubt we’ll find out more about their intentions when Fury of the Gods hits theaters in 2023. Before that, however, there’ll be plenty of other DC films to temporarily distract us. We have James Gunn’s Suicide Squad coming up on HBO Max this summer as part of the company’s 2021 day-and-date plan, as well as The Batman, Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman 2 all in 2022.
