Outriders Demo Guide: How To Enable Cross-Play Multiplayer

The Outriders demo is out for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. And you don’t have to worry about where you play–Outriders supports cross-play between all its platforms, allowing you to connect with your friends wherever they decide to play. That said, you will have to complete a few steps in order to do cross-play multiplayer. Don’t worry; it’s not too hard to do.

First off, you can’t even engage in any form of multiplayer until you complete the prologue. The prologue concludes with the mission in which your character becomes fully Altered, allowing you to pick a class. Upon the completion of this mission, you’ll unlock the first hub area of Outriders, Rift Town. It’s here where you can start teaming up with other players.

You can either summon players to your game or join someone else’s. To do either, you need to access the matchmaking terminal in Rift Town’s garage or click on the “Join A Random Team” or “Play With Friends” buttons from the Lobby. On default settings, you will be limited to only teaming up with others on your platform.

To enable cross-play, you first need to go to Options. Navigate to the Gameplay tab and scroll down to “Enable Crossplay.” Switch it from “Off” to “On.” And that’s it.

The matchmaking terminal is located in Rift Town's garage, just past the hub's assortment of venders.
The matchmaking terminal is located in Rift Town’s garage, just past the hub’s assortment of venders.

Now when you go to matchmaking, you’ll see options to “Generate Your Game Code” and “Join Using A Game Code” under the cross-play section. Clicking the first option will produce a code that your friends on other platforms will need to input to join your game, while clicking on the second will allow you to input a code that you get from a friend to join their game.

As an added note: on the Gameplay settings page, you can also change your Default Game Privacy. It will begin as “Open,” which means anyone can join your game if they click on the “Join A Random Team” option from Rift Town’s matchmaking garage terminal or the Lobby. If you don’t want strangers just popping into your game, you can change this setting to “Friends Only” or “Closed.” The former means that only your connections on your chosen platform (for example, all of your Xbox friends if you’re playing on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One) can jump into your game without getting prior permission. The latter means that no one can get in without an invite.

After the prologue, Outriders fully supports cross-play multiplayer, so you can play through the entire campaign solo, with a team, or a mix of both. If the demo is any indication, you will be able to play through the game on your own without too much trouble, though how easy that will be will largely depend on which character class you pick. So be smart: you can change your character’s appearance whenever you want, but once you pick a class, you’re stuck with it.

It’s worth noting that cross-play support is currently in beta for the Outriders demo. So you may run into a few connection issues while using cross-play. We assume cross-play support will be ironed out and completely ready to go by the time Outriders officially launches on April 1, but we don’t know that for sure.

Pokemon Go Searching For Legends Event Adds Shiny Nosepass

Pokemon Go‘s Season of Legends has begun, and the first event of the season is set to begin next week. Niantic is kicking off the Searching for Legends event starting 10 AM local time on March 9, and it gives players their first chance to catch a Shiny Nosepass in the game.

Throughout the Searching for Legends event, the following Pokemon will appear in the wild more frequently than usual:

  • Diglett
  • Geodude
  • Magnemite
  • Nosepass
  • Aron
  • Baltoy
  • Roggenrola
  • Drilbur

Shiny Nosepass will also appear in the wild during the event, while Alolan Diglett, Alolan Geodude, and other Pokemon will be attracted to Incense. You’ll also be able to encounter the following monsters in Raid Battles:

  • One-star Raids: Alolan Diglett, Nosepass, Roggenrola, Drilbur, Ferroseed, Klink
  • Three-star Raids: Alolan Graveler, Magneton, Skarmory, and Metang.

Finally, there will be event-exclusive Field Research and Timed Research tasks to complete during the event. These will lead to more chances to catch Nosepass, among other rewards. The Searching for Legends event runs until 8 AM local time on March 14. You can read more details on the Pokemon Go blog.

In the meantime, Incarnate Forme Landorus has returned to five-star Raids until March 6, when it will be replaced by Tornadus. March 6 is also the day that Niantic is holding Pokemon Go’s March Community Day. The featured Pokemon this month is Fletchling, and if you can evolve it all the way into Talonflame during the event or up to two hours afterward, the Pokemon will know the Fire-type attack Incinerate.

Wrong Turn Remake Director Reveals Scene That Landed NC-17 Rating

Wrong Turn got a very different remake this year–moving away from cannibal hillbillies to focus on a more civilized people who live off-the-grid in the Appalachian mountains called The Foundation. However, there was one scene cut from the movie that landed it the infamous NC-17 rating.

During the Wrong Turn audio commentary from director Mike P. Nelson, he explained the exact moment where the MPAA slapped the naughty rating on it. “[The] execution scene with Adam here was the moment in the movie in which we got an NC-17 from the MPAA,” Nelson explained during the movie.

The scene in question features travelling city-boy Adam about to be executed in a bizarre court of law by The Foundation after Adam is found guilty of murdering another member of the hermit tribe.

“Originally, this scene played straight through, in which you saw Adam get his head bashed in, and it did not cut away, like it’s going to do there,” Nelson continued. “It keeps going and going, and you see his head break apart. But it was a little too much, I guess, so we had to cut that back.”

Nelson hoped there’s an uncut version of the movie that will be released in the future. As of this writing, there isn’t one. However, this ultra-gruesome moment was an important point for the movie. “Originally, my intention for that moment there was that we really haven’t seen that much violence on screen up into that point,” Nelson continued. “A lot of it’s off screen or hidden. And that was sort of the moment where you are supposed to be confronted with the most brutal form of violence in the movie yet. It’s probably still the most brutal piece of violence in the film, but the idea was to not cut away and to show it in its full glory.”

As the director mentioned, the execution sequence is still in the movie, but during the violence, it cuts to reactions from the cast. Nevertheless, it’s still effective at confronting the audience with pure brutality. This year’s Wrong Turn remake is quite a bit better than its 2003 counterpart, which is more a traditional early 2000s horror romp. The 2021 version has a bit more to say about morality, and there is a bit more ambiguity between “good” and “evil.”

Currently, Wrong Turn is for sale on Amazon for $17. The movie is also available at Best Buy for $17 as well. Additionally, digital versions are available at various retailers for purchase or rental.

DC’s Black Adam Starting Production in April

The Rock’s Black Adam, which will introduce the Justice Society of America to the DC movie universe, is now expected to start production in April according to a recent interview. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Black Adam executive producer Hiram Garcia revealed that the film is gearing up and counting down the days to get started next month.

“We begin filming in April, we’ll be in Georgia, home away from home,” Garcia says. “We’re really excited, man. We have everything ramped up. We’re so fired up for this.”

During the conversation, Garcia also reflected on the silver lining of last year’s COVID delays to productions, noting that “we’re happy we’re able to pause, regroup, and now we’re going to be getting going.” The extra down time, says Garcia, enabled the creative team to add more depth to concepts that were in place before the coronavirus spread, and also allowed “high ambitions and such high hopes for this” to ratchet up even further, though was light on specifics on all fronts there.

Wanting to preserve the surprises and excitement Black Adam will have in store, Garcia only mentioned a detail we already know: “[The Rock] is a walking superhero… and if there was ever anyone born to play a character, it’s him.”

In addition to The Rock, it was recently announced that the film’s cast will also include Quintessa Swindell (Euphoria) as Cyclone and Aldis Hodge (The Invisible Man) as Hawkman. Black Adam will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously worked with Johnson on the upcoming Disney movie Jungle Cruise.

Discontinued PS Vita Never Dies, Gets Brand-New Roguelite ScourgeBringer Next Month

The PlayStation Vita is poised to receive a new game next month despite having been discontinued for two years. Developer Flying Oak Games announced that its roguelite ScourgeBringer is coming to the handheld on April 22.

The news comes via the developer’s Twitter account, where Flying Oak Games also confirmed that ScourgeBringer hits the PlayStation 4 on the same day. The studio said there will be physical versions on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, with PS4 preorders for the Standard and Collector’s edition now live on PS Vita preorders opening “in a few days.” It’s unclear if the game will feature cross-save support. All versions are region-free and include all languages.

ScourgeBringer is a challenging roguelite similar to Dead Cells and Forgone. Players control the female warrior Kyhra to uncover the truth of what happened to the world and her people. It’s on all the major platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The PlayStation Vita was discontinued in 2019, with the production of new physical games wrapping up in March of the same year. As of March 2019, there haven’t been any new PlayStation Vita systems or physical games for it. This doesn’t mean there haven’t been new games for the Vita since it was discontinued in 2019. According to GameSpot sister site Metacritic, February 2021 alone saw three new Vita titles: Gods of Almagest, Habroxia 2, and Pachi Pachi On A Roll. ScourgeBringer could just be the first physical Vita game in a long time.

The Vita was found in the headlines last year during a The Last of Us Part II gameplay sequence as part of a State of Play livestream. Ellie, one of the playable characters, can be seen interacting with–and ultimately stabbing in the neck–an unsuspecting PS Vita player.

Pokemon Go Landorus Guide: Shiny Landorus, Weaknesses, Counters, And More Tips

Pokemon Go‘s Season of Legends has officially begun, and as part of the new content season, Landorus is back in Raids for a limited time. The Legendary Abundance Pokemon is appearing as a five-star Raid boss from now until March 6, and this time, you’ll have a chance to encounter Shiny Landorus. To help you add the Legendary Pokemon to your collection, we’ve rounded up some tips on how to beat and catch Landorus below.

Landorus Raid Schedule

Incarnate Forme Landorus is appearing in Pokemon Go again until 8 AM local time on March 6, giving you only a few days to capture it. To participate in a Landorus Raid, you’ll need to have either a Raid Pass (to join the battle in-person) or a Remote Raid Pass (to join the battle remotely). You can get one Remote Raid Pass as part of Niantic’s free weekly item bundles, which are available in Pokemon Go’s in-game shop every Monday in March.

Incarnate Forme Landorus
Incarnate Forme Landorus

Following Landorus’s departure, Incarnate Forme Tornadus will appear in Raids again until March 11, while Incarnate Forme Thundurus will be available from March 11-16. After that, the Legendaries will each return to Raids in their Therian Formes–the first time these variants will be available in Pokemon Go. Therian Forme Landorus will appear sometime in April.

How To Catch Shiny Landorus

As previously mentioned, you’ll have a chance to encounter Shiny Landorus during its current stint as a Raid boss. However, your odds of finding one are fairly small, and there’s no way to tell if Landorus is Shiny until you’ve defeated it and made it to the catching phase. If you’re hoping to catch a Shiny version, your best chance is to participate in as many Landorus Raids as you can before the Legendary leaves the game again.

Landorus Weaknesses And Counters

Landorus is a Ground/Flying Pokemon. Thanks to this unusual combination, certain types that normally have an advantage over Flying Pokemon–such as Electric and Rock–only deal neutral damage to Landorus. Likewise, since it’s part-Flying, Grass Pokemon (which are normally strong against Ground types) will only do neutral damage to Landorus.

Despite this, Landorus has some glaring weaknesses, particularly to Ice Pokemon. Since both Ground and Flying are weak to Ice, Ice Pokemon will deal four times as much damage as normal to the Legendary, making them your best choice when battling Landorus. Water Pokemon also have a type advantage over Landorus, making them good alternatives. You can see some solid Pokemon of each type below:

  • Ice: Lapras, Mamoswine, Glaceon, Weavile, Kyurem, Galarian Darmanitan
  • Water: Mega Blastoise, Mega Gyarados, Kyogre, Swampert, Feraligatr, Palkia

Battlefield 6 Teaser Points To Kazakhstan Location

It seems the location for the next entry in DICE’s Battlefield series, Battlefield 6, has been teased as the Central Asian country of Kazakhstan, according to supposed GPS coordinates.

As reported by Battlefield YouTuber DANNYonPC (via a now-deleted Reddit post), the location’s teaser was hidden in plain sight: on the nose of a 3D-rendered character model during a Battlefield tech demo shared at EA Play 2020 and on the medallion of a legendary Battlefield 5 outfit called Eidolon that can only be unlocked by completing a secret challenge.

Allegedly, the numbers located on these two spots pull up a nondescript place in Kazakhstan when plugged into a GPS coordinator. Kazakhstan is a rather large country with a population of approximately 18 million people, making it one of the 10 biggest countries in the world.

EA and DICE have been relatively quiet regarding Battlefield 6, though a reveal for the game is planned for this spring. The publisher also announced that a Need for Speed title has been delayed to 2022 so developer Criterion Games can assist on Battlefield 6’s development.

Sinking City Publisher Denies Selling Pirated Copies on Steam

Nacon, publisher of The Sinking City, has denied developer Frogwares’ claims that Nacon bought a copy of The Sinking City, altered it to include Nacon logos, and reuploaded the game to Steam to sell to customers without Frogwares’ permission.

In a post to Steam today, Nacon said that the version of The Sinking City published on Steam under its name is “an official and complete version,” and that the only issue with the release is a lack of Steam-specific features such as cloud saving and achievements — a problem it attributes to a “lack of cooperation” with Frogwares.

This comes in response to a blog post yesterday from Frogwares attesting that while a legal battle over whether Nacon has the rights to publish The Sinking City was underway in French courts, Nacon purchased a copy of the game from Gamesplanet, altered certain elements such as splash screens and logos to make it appear as though the game was licensed to Nacon, and then reuploaded it to Steam as an official version.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/06/25/the-sinking-city-review”]

The Sinking City was first removed from multiple storefronts back in August 2020, with Frogwares saying at the time that the publisher had breached its contract with the developer, stopped providing owed payments, and tried to mask the involvement of Frogwares in the versions of the games it was licensed to distribute. The dispute, which also involves a number of other similarly-published Frogwares titles such as the Sherlock Holmes games, has gone before French courts. A decision is still pending.

First launched in 2019, we reviewed The Sinking City at launch and found the game compelling in its storytelling, though clunky in certain mechanics such as open-world travel and combat.
