One Punch Man Game Features “Hero Arrival” Mechanic

With Gamescom 2019 in full swing, announcements are trickling out at a steady pace. Prolific anime game publisher Bandai Namco has unveiled a trailer for One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, which shows new gameplay mechanics and characters.

Alongside series regulars Saitama, Genos, and Speed-o’-Sound Sonic, S-Class heroes Terrible Tornado, Silverfang, and Atomic Samurai are joining the game’s roster. These three characters bump A Hero Nobody Knows’ roster to 13 playable characters. It’s unclear what the final roster count will be.

Saitama is known to defeat enemies with one punch, and the new trailer shows how his overbearing strength is used in-game. A Hero Nobody Knows implements some sort of Hero Arrival mechanic, where you must survive while Saitama makes his way to the battlefield. In the trailer below, Saitama is running on the left-side of the screen with quite a distance to go. Performing combos and perfect guards reduces his arrival time. Matches seem to become one-sided when he gets there, as Saitama absorbs a lot of damage and defeats everyone with one punch.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows was announced back in June 2019. No release date was provided, but the 3D fighter is “coming soon” to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Fortnite 10.10 Content Update Patch Notes: Junk Rift, Glitched Consumables, And More

Another update has arrived for Fortnite. Content update 10.10 is now live across PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices, and it adds a new throwable item to the popular battle royale game, along with a new type of consumable. Here are the patch notes.

First up is the Junk Rift, a new Epic rarity item. When thrown, it’ll create a Rift in the sky that will rain cars, statues, and other large debris down on opponents, damaging players and destroying objects caught in its path. The Junk Rift drops in stacks of two and can be found as floor loot or in chests, supply drops, and supply llamas.

On top of that, this week’s content update introduces Glitched Consumables, which have begun appearing after the Rift Beacon at the Rec Center exploded. These items can be found near the explosion site and randomly change into different foraged consumables, such as apples, coconuts, and mushrooms.

The Glitched Consumables are also capable of turning into some previously vaulted items, such as Season 4’s Hop Rocks and Season 6’s Shadow Stones. However, the latter have been temporarily disabled in the game due to an issue.

You can see all of the other changes in this week’s content update for Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode below, while the full patch notes can be found on Epic’s website.

Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plus: CD Projekt “Looking For A Suitable Idea”

Cyberpunk 2077 might wind up with a New Game Plus mode, but CD Projekt Red is still figuring out what it might be. That’s contrary to a previous report that a post-game replay mode was in the works.

“What I can tell you is we are looking into a suitable idea for implementing New Game Plus,” producer Richard Borzymowski told GameSpot at Gamescom. If and how has yet to be seen and talked about.”

Borzymowski went on to explain that the most important thing about adding a New Game Plus mode to Cyberpunk is making sure it’s the right implementation of the idea for the game. CD Projekt’s upcoming open-world sci-fi RPG will likely have some means of encouraging you to play beyond the end of the story, Borzymowski said, but the developer hasn’t decided what form it’ll take.

In Cyberpunk, much of what you experience depends on the character you create–their backstory and upbringing dictates some conversation choices, for instance, and the skills you develop dictate which paths you can take through missions. That means the character you make through the course of the game determines what portions of the game you see and what portions you don’t.

“Let’s go with the two most basic approaches to New Game Plus, or whatever,” he said. “Complete example: either you finish the story and you’re left in the open world, or you can start a new game with the character you’ve previously developed. With the first approach, in our case, the benefit of replaying or playing more is that there are many, many activities. I presume that most players will first finish the story rather than do everything there is because that’s pretty time-consuming. The other approach basically funnels you into one of the playstyles, right? So we’re looking for a way to ensure that you’re able to keep your progression, but are you still able to take a different path in order to see one of those parts that was hidden behind one of those actual choices. And we will probably get to something, but it’s too early to talk exactly how, because we want to make sure that it fits [Cyberpunk]. Everything we want to do, we want to fit.”

Reports previously suggested Cyberpunk 2077 would have a New Game Plus mode, but that it might not be ready for the game’s launch in April 2020. CD Projekt added a New Game Plus mode to The Witcher 3 after its launch as a free update.

Bond 25 Title Finally Confirmed

The title of the next James Bond movie, previously referred to as Bond 25, has been revealed. It has been confirmed that the 25th movie in the long-running series is titled No Time To Die. The movie sees Daniel Craig return to the role as the iconic British superspy for the fifth time and it hits theaters on April 3 2020.

The news was announced via the franchise’s official Twitter account. Check it out below:

An official synopsis for No Time To Die has also been released. It reads: “In No Time To Die, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”

The movie is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who is best known for the first season of True Detective and last year’s acclaimed Netflix show Maniac. Jeffrey Wright reprises his role as Felix Leiter, while Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Léa Seydoux, all return to the roles of M, Q, Miss MoneyPenny, and Madeleine Swan respectively. The new cast members include Remi Malick in a villainous role, plus Billy Magnussen and Ana de Armas. Check out some on-set footage here.

No Time To Die is co-written by writer/actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve, Rouge One). Waller-Bridge was reportedly paid $2 million USD to rework the existing script and contribute “sharper dialogue.”. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Waller-Bridge downplayed her contribution. “A lot has been made of me coming on board because I’m a woman, and that’s wonderful. But also I can’t take credit for the movie that was written. It’s Cary’s movie,” she said.

Path Of Exile Will Introduce Tower-Defense Gameplay With Its Blight Update

Continuing its years of significant growth, Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear Games has revealed the next major update coming to the free-to-play action-RPG. In the upcoming Blight expansion, players will take on a questline that introduces a new tower defense mode, yielding even more loot to outfit your characters with. This new update follows a set of other new expansions in the past year that have overhauled a significant part of the game, introducing new events and storylines for players to take part in.

Just before its reveal, we got an early look at the new content, which releases on September 6 for PC, and on PS4 and Xbox One September 9. The Blight update introduces a new storyline involving an NPC named Sister Cassia who tasks players to repel the encroaching corruption that’s taken root across the world. To fight off these waves of monsters, you’ll need to construct complex machines to help stem the tide. According to the developers, the intent of these Blight encounters is to offer players a chance to take on bite-sized events that can open up access to better loot. The reward for clearing these fights are items called Oils, which can buff existing gear and produce new items for your character.

As is tradition, the new expansion will also introduce a new suite of quality-of-life changes. These include revamps to the Atlas of Worlds questing system, new class and skill tweaks, and several fixes focusing on league play. Following the reception from previous expansions, the developers wanted to focus more on letting players experience the game at their own pace, and take on events in the order they want.

Here’s a quick rundown of all the key features in the Blight update:

  • Blight League: The new expansion will introduce a new NPC named Sister Cassia, who allows players to access the new Blight Encounters. These events will focus on tower defense style gameplay against new monsters. Players can also acquire special Blighted maps, which open up access to new higher-end areas with greater rewards.
  • Revised Atlas: The Atlas of Worlds update will receive some upgrades once again. In the Blight expansion, players can now interact with Masters in the player hideout. Furthermore, new Master missions are available for players to dive into.
  • Gear Enchants: A new item set to appear in Path of Exile are the Oils, which can imbue existing gears with specific properties. Combining oils can even produce new equipment, such as rings and amulets.
  • Class Changes: Certain player-made archetypes are seeing something of a revamp. For instance, the Necromancer archetype will now allow for greater control of your minions. Furthermore, the Shadow class’ Saboteur archetype will have its mine skill altered to allow for greater control.

Following several expansions, and the PS4 launch, 2019 has been an excellent year for Path of Exile. The Blight update looks to be another fun event to take part, which continues to surprise with what the action-RPG can offer. The developers stated that they plan to reveal more of what’s to come with the free-to-play game at the upcoming ExileCon event in November.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige Secretly Worked on Venom

According to sources speaking to Deadline, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige secretly worked on Sony Picture’s 2018 Venom film. This comes hot off the heels of the news that Spider-Man will no longer be featured in the MCU thanks to a financial disagreement between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.

Deadline reporter Mike Fleming Jr. reports that Disney CEO Bob Iger had attempted to broker a deal between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, all to allow future cross-studio projects like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home to continue.

Spider-Man Movies Will No Longer Involve MCU Boss Kevin Feige – Report

Shortly after Marvel revealed its Phase 4 slate of Marvel Cinematic Universe films and TV shows at San Diego Comic-Con, a major shakeup is being reported that could very well change the future of the MCU. It would also impact the Spider-Man franchise of films Marvel Studios co-produces with Sony.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will no longer serve as a producer on Sony’s Spider-Man films. The news comes after a new agreement between Sony and Disney was reportedly unable to be reached. As Deadline explains, a dispute between the two companies has been going on for months.

What this means for the future of Spider-Man and the MCU is unclear. Spider-Man: Far From Home was the official end of the MCU’s Phase 3, setting the stage for what’s to come from the universe of films. With Feige no longer being involved, it’s possible that the Spider-Man franchise could instead exist outside of the MCU. Sony has already been building a non-MCU Spider-Man universe thanks to the film adaptation of Venom, as well as the upcoming Morbius movie, in which Jared Leto stars as the titular living vampire.

As sources tell Deadline, there were already two more planned Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland as the web-slinger, with director Jon Watts expected to return.

The MCU, meanwhile, is already without characters like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans), following the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, Marvel Studios has a loaded slate of films that will introduce new characters–like the Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Blade–as well as new installments of the Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Thor franchises.

The situation could always change and the two studios could come to an agreement. However, as noted by Deadline, it would take something “dramatic” for that to happen. For now, an extended cut of Spider-Man: Far From Home will hit theaters on August 29.
