New Fortnite Update Nerfs SMG and Compact SMG
Epic Games recently added the SMG and Compact SMG to Fortnite but, following feedback from its community, has pushed out a hotfix tweaking how effective they are. In a post on the Fortnite: Battle Royale subreddit, Epic said that SMGs were “stronger than we would like at the moment” and detailed the adjustments made to them.
The changes to SMGs seem to be comprehensive, with accuracy, damage, range, and fire rate all nerfed. The tweaks, which you can see in full below, bring the performance of the SMG and Compact SMG “more in line with where [Epic] want them.” Nevertheless, the studio said it will continue to monitor how they perform and has encourage players to carry on submitting feedback.
Fortnite SMG Changes
- SMG and Compact SMG accuracy bonus reduced from 35% to 15%.
- SMG damage reduced from 19/20/21 to 17/18/19.
- Compact SMG damage reduced from 23/24 to 21/22.
- SMG fire rate reduced from 13 to 12.
- Compact SMG fire rate reduced from 11 to 10.
- SMG, Compact SMG, and Silenced SMG damage falloff.
- Range reduced from 2400/3500/5000 to 2000/3000/4000.
- Percentage reduced from 100/80/65% to 100/70/40%.
- Rare SMG and Compact SMGs drop rates slightly reduced.
Fortnite is currently celebrating its 1st birthday and there’s a special set of challenges that, if you manage to complete them, will unlock a new emote, spray, and bling. One of the challenges involves exploring the map to find 10 birthday cakes and dancing in front of them. This can be a little time-consuming so you can use our Fortnite Birthday Cake Location Guide to speed things up. We’ve got a video of the entire challenge, so you can watch that to see exactly where to go, and there’s also a map of where all the cakes are.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has crossed a major development milestone. Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal have announced that the action-adventure game has “gone gold,” which means the studio has completed development.
The official Tomb Raider Twitter account posted a picture of the Eidos Montreal development team celebrating the milestone. The game will now head to manufacturing facilities to mass-produce disks for the physical version.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 Review
The excellent Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 is a tough act to follow, but Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 doesn’t even come close. It contains X5 through X8, which range in quality from good all the way down to awful. At least Capcom put a lot of love into the port even if the games themselves don’t necessarily deserve much.
Just like the first collection, there are a lot of fun little extras in this package. The Museum collects all the music, artwork, products, and trailers from the series and there are plenty of screen options to tune the look and feel to your liking. Those include stretching the game to take up the entire 16:9 screen or keeping it 4:3 and retaining aspect ratio while taking up as much space as possible. You can also choose to have borders on or off, smooth out the graphics in filter settings, or turn off all of that so the games are presented with their original look.
The Coen Brothers’ Netflix Series Is Now a Movie
Joel and Ethan Coen’s Netflix Western anthology series has now turned into a feature-length movie.
Per Variety, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, announced last year as a six-part miniseries, is now a 132-minute film. It will debut at the Venice Film Festival in late August/early September, before hitting theaters and premiering on Netflix just in time for awards season.
The film will maintain the original show’s anthology format, telling six distinct tales about the American frontier, though plot details are being kept under wraps for now.

Marvel’s latest crossover event Infinity Wars just pushed Thanos in a very unexpected direction.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Infinity Wars Prime #1!
Infinity Wars features a new cosmic conflict centered around the Infinity Stones, all of which are currently located on Earth.
