AC Odyssey is Changing Up Naval Combat

It’s been five long years since we first hopped aboard Edward Kenway’s Jackdaw in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and aside from the arctic reskin we saw in Assassin’s Creed Rogue, seafaring hasn’t made many appearances in the franchise since.  While the few tastes of naval combat we got in Origins definitely whet our appetites for war on the open ocean, Ubisoft Quebec is serving up a fully-overhauled version of the beloved combat and travel system in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

“We felt like it was a good time to bring back something that fans were really happy with in past Assassin’s Creeds,” says Game Director on Odyssey Scott Phillips. “Origins touched on it a little bit, and then we sort of redesigned it – had to build all new tech in order to support the seamless open-world nature,” he continues, explaining that they couldn’t merely just expand on the short ship sections of Origins built on the AnvilNext 2.0 engine that’s been in use since Assassin’s Creed Unity.

How an NCAA Lawsuit Made Madden Mobile a Monster

The early 2010’s were not great for Electronic Arts. After a series of lawsuits over the rights of student athletes to be compensated for their likeness being used in merchandise, EA lost the license to NCAA branding and decided to discontinue the NCAA Football game series for at least the near future.

“I will never forget the day that I had to stand in front of the Tiburon studio and break the news that we were going to stop building our college football games,” EA Sports Executive Vice President Cam Weber said. “I kind of felt like we ripped the heart and soul out of the studio that day.”

WWE’s Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart Passes Away

The powerhouse of the wrestling stable The Hart Foundation in the ’80s and ’90s of WWE, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart has passed away at the age of 63. The wrestler first began his career with Stampede Wrestling and made a name for himself working with his brother-in-law Bret Hart, including winning the tag team championships.

WWE shared word of the superstar’s passing early on August 13, which was first revealed by friend Brian Blair on Twitter. “So sad to announce the passing of my friend and longtime colleague, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart,” Blair wrote. “Your thoughts and prayers for the family are deeply appreciated!”

Before WWE, Neidhart played for the Dallas Cowboys, but after his release, he went to Calgary, Alberta to train as a wrestler with legendary trainer Stu Hart. During this time, Neidhart got the nickname “The Anvil,” after winning an anvil toss contest at a Calgary rodeo.

In the mid-’80s, Stu Hart sold Stampede to WWE, and both Neidhart and Bret Hart were part of the deal. The two made their debut in 1985 and won the WWF World Tag Team Championship in 1987. Bret and Neidhart were close, and Bret recently posted on his Facebook page, “Stunned and saddened. I just don’t have the words right now.”

Neidhart later teamed with Owen Hart during a memorable run, but ultimately left WWE in 1997 after the infamous Montreal Screwjob. He returned to WWE in 2007 for one Battle Royal match and has appeared numerous times on the E! reality series Total Divas, where his daughter WWE superstar Natalya is one of the featured members of the cast.

Uncharted Movie Has a Script, Is Nearing Production

It appears that the Uncharted film is beginning to pick up some steam, and is closer than ever to entering production.

In an interview with The Playlist, Uncharted director Shawn Levy gave an update to the illusive film, saying it has a solid script, star, and is nearer to the horizon than his other film, Starman.

“As of right now, the closest to the starting line is Uncharted in that it’s a massive title,” said Levy. “We now have a very good script and we have our star in Tom Holland. That is now subject to schedule and additional casting. But I would say as of right now, that seems to be the most near horizon. And it’s a movie I’m very excited about.”

Thor’s Roommate Darryl Survived Thanos’ Snap, Currently Working Weekends

We now know that among the few who survived Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, was Darryl, Thor’s roommate.

The creator and actor of the video shorts that show Thor’s life on Earth outside of the Avengers, Daley Pearson, took to Twitter on Sunday night to share a video wishing Thor happy birthday, and also news that he survived the snap.

‘Happy Birthday @Thor. Sorry it’s late but i’m working weekends since “The Snap.”‘

In the video, Darryl explains that the good news is that he survived the snap – the bad news is that many of his coworkers didn’t so he now has to work Sundays. He also adds in, “If there happens to be wifi where you are, if you could just do a quick transfer, I’m in quite a bit of debt since you left.”
